As a bench joiner/cabinet maker and site fitter of over 30 years experience I can confirm that this DeWALT unit will take a beating driving stubborn screws, enough to break the tips of top quality PZ2 bits but time will tell for how long. Anything can be broken but I don't see it happening without some serious abuse, maybe driving large hex-shafted flatbits through MDF and jamming them at high rpm when you lose your centre half way through the hole without a backing piece clamped to it. You can get into some pretty tight spaces with this attachment but it's still up to you to hold it in place and will obviously slip if you don't keep the driver buried in the screw head and usually, even if you do.You need to hold it square to the screw which is difficult if you can't see it as the circular magnet covers it.The gears are very smooth and don't seem to inhibit torque at all with cogging or friction and transmit maximum power to the selected driver or drill. The perimeter screw head magnet is strong but not enough to make up for a good, solid grip on the gearbox whilst driving screws as that wasn't it's purpose and the tool can't really be used one handed for anything requiring much welly, though you can start screws at a reach if you have to before it just slips and rotates. The bit sits very deeply in the hex socket which makes changing it very difficult with dry, let alone wet or oily fingers unless you use a 2-3mm screwdriver, hex key, drill bit or rod to push the bit out from the back as far as it will allow. Just poking another PZ2 bit in the back recess is not really enough to eject the driver. You can buy similar tools for a fifth of the price which might work ok for light duty use but you take your chances with the gears and I even had one pop open as the retention circlip groove wasn't machined but cast into the housing way too shallow and the bevel gears thrust it apart.Basically, if you're a professional tradesperson like me, just buy one already and be confident that it will perform as well as any other DeWALT product. It's not the kind of tool you need often but when you need it you can't do the job without it. A screw-in side handle would be a good addition Mr. DeWALT, as even the really cheap plastic ones have these and it gives a much better grip if there's room for it. Knurling could be incorporated into the gearbox as it is, for a slightly better purchase also. This adapter doesn't want to spin in your hand but it does want to push away from the screw head if you have a worn bit, obviously and without an extended driver bit you can't grip it fully near the head once the screw is driven home where you need the most pressure, right at the last moment when you have to grit your teeth and go all caveman on it!

This is a very very fine piece of kit. Beautifully solid to feel and simple. And very tough. Used with impact driver it'll get any screw in (make sure it's tough enough to not strip thread, cos if you are using this thing, you know it's a tight space and you'll never get it out if you strip it!). Works brilliantly, I've been holding it with my hand and typically able to get a bit of leverage pressure onto it so the 'impact' drilling works perfectly - obviously because you only use this in very tight spaces you will always be able to get your hand onto it and something behind it to give it the push it needs to get good traction on the thread. Can't recommend it highly enough. It took some serious abuse from my impact driver, and broke no sweat...!

Brilliant little tool that got me out of a scrape. Needed an attachment to drill pilot holes for lag screws in a stair tread. Only problem was that the overhanging nose from the tread above meant that a normal drill couldnt be used. I have a set of DeWalt small hex shank drill bits which fit straight into the right angle drill which in turn inserts into my impact driver. Loads of clearance and a straight hole drilled! Worked pefectly and is weighty and well built. Wont be a tool that gets used everyday but its a tool that will pay for itself the first time you use it - godsend.Only tiny gripe is small bits are not the easiest things to remove unless you have something handy poke them out throughthe top - thin screwdriver etc.

I was a little concerned reading through previous reviews of customers recieving different models.Fortunsreky it looks like the issues has been addressed as the model advertised is definitely the model received (DEWDT71517T)This updated model claps the bit in really tightly and is designed in a way that you use a biro or small security bit to release the but holder from the back of the unit. Some see this as a frustration, but I prefer it as it keeps the bit secure and doesn't really add any overhead into swapping bits out in the grand scheme of things. The right angle adapter really is a game changer, even when not working in confined spaces as you hold the driver in so many different positions.

I found the need for a right-angle drill piece whilst altering the drawers in my desk. I did some research and found that a lot of alternative products were poorly-made and weren't worth the money, so I decided to buy this as my Dewalt DC100KA-GB power drill has really impressed me so far. When I received the item, I was surprised at how solid this felt. The pieces are held in by a magnet and one can change them by either pulling them out or pushing them out from behind. You also get a few extra heads which look well-built as well, but I have yet to use them.I would whole-heartily recommend this product and believe me, I rarely say that about anything.

I needed this tool in a hurry for a project, so it HAD to work! It did - far better than I expected. I was screwing 70mm SPAX screws between two timbers with no pilot hole in the target wood. It drove them fully home as long as I put lots of elbow-power into it to keep the De Walt and the screw engaged. My drill is a Bosch 18v. Beware when opening the blister pack that the bits don't cascade everywhere. The device comes with a bit already inserted, and it took a few moments to figure out how you eject them every time - a nail into the hole behind the bit does the trick. It is smaller than I expected, but that is an advantage in many situations.

I have a number of DeWalt 18v XR power tools and when I saw a review of this 90 degree attachment I wanted to give it a go. Ordered from Amazon prime, delivered next day free of charge, spot on. The tool is well made and is simple to fit to the hex drive in my DCF887 impact driver. It works brilliantly for both drills and screwdriver bits, either fitted direct in the chuck or using an extension adaptor. Ideal for kitchen fitting, working in awkward spaces in the loft, fixing rafters etc. It looks well made and fit for purpose and the Dewalt warranty is such that if it breaks they give you another one, what more could one ask.

I was using this to drive in rather large screws that were bolting two floor joists together. It worked perfectly, in a very confined space. The magnetic ring did come off onto the bit I was using. But I tapped it off and fitted it back into the holder. I suppose you could argue it is a fault. I also think I should have glued it back in place. However, having said that, this tool got me out of a very awkward situation. I was under the floorboards, working in an 18 inch crawlspace for some of it.......!It is a great piece of kit and performed well. Believe me, it was under a LOT of stress.I highly recommend it.

Nicely made sturdy piece of kit which I have used a few times while installing kitchen units. Unusual as far as I can tell in as much as it allows the impact function of a driver to be used in a right angled format; great for narrow spaces. It does take a bit of getting used to and needs a really firm grip to drive in screws or the bit will slip in the screw head and make a mess. Hex based drill bits are essential if using for drilling. What I am not clear about is the function of the magnetic bit holder. It does not appear to hold the bit in at all well, hence the four stars.

I bought this item as reviews of cheaper non-branded, chuck-type attachments were very poor. The hex type head on this attachment means it’s really compact which not only gets you into tighter spaces but also brings the head closer to screws reducing awkward twisting forces. For drilling holes you’ll need hex type bits but it is worth the switch. If found the supplied impact torsion screwdriver bits a rubbish but my current bits work just fine either in a bit holder or directly in the attachment. Very very pleased with purchase and would recommend to others.

Best one out there. This has got me out of many difficult situations and I strongly recommend it. Far exceeds the quality of the other types, one begins with E and was not up to much. Another from BQ got returned same day. But the Dewalt has been brilliant, used it with 22mm spade bit through 4 x 2 timber. Drilling shower door supports in awkward places. But mostly used with my 5.5mm masonry hex bit for fixing cisterns to walls. This Dewalt is awesome and earned permanent residency in my tool box, only best of best lives in my tool box. Highly recommended.

Good quality, good price. Perfect for the task we bought it for. Smaller than we thought but this actually helped our particular task for it. This was to wind down the steadies on our caravan during storage at home. Caravan is parked up to wall on one side and this is the only way OH can get to the one on the front. He keeps it to hand all the time next to his fully charged drill. He says that it's his favourite piece of kit at the moment, and keeps showing it to friends and family.

I really don't know why I haven't bought one of these before!I bought it to do a specific job, which it managed well. Since then it's managed to get me out of a couple of scrapes due to confined spaces and being unable to use a conventional screwdriver.I was a little disappointed not to be able to use conventional drills and had to buy hexagonal ended drill bits to fit. It's quite pricey hence only 4 stars, however I expect it to last with it being a Dewalt branded item.

It's DeWalt, it's class, and it does exactly what it is supposed to. I got this to complement my impact driver, it obviously uses impact bits, so make sure you purchase hex drill bits to use with it. I recommend the following set:- Bosch 2608595525 wood drills in 2 to 6mm diameters inclusive. I'll only be using them to drill pilot holes with this. Great for working in tight spaces, but you will still need about 5" to 8 " clearance depending on the drill/bit/screw used.

Handy little tool this, used it a few times in places a impact driver would not fit. Its rather tiny, and it fits into my impact driver carry case with ease so its always handy when you need it. I have found sometimes it is a bit of a job to engage the bit onto the screw with the small bits supplied as these slot into the tool with just the cross of the bit proud. I have found it works better with the longer bits as you can then see what your doing a lot easier.
