I've used the original opaque black splinter guard and this translucent version. The new type is MUCH better and it's easier to position the track to (pencil) cut marksI was bleating a bit about the price, but I could have paid much more for the same thing:

After cutting into mine after lending the saw to my friend..... i opted to buy new guards. the strip is very easy to fit and brings the product back up to the standard that i bought it. Great for replacing when doing a fine piece and accuracy is a must.

Replaces misaligned splinter guard however the product makes no mention of having to buy a special adhesive removal product! This makes the cost of replacing the splinter guard even more expensive mindful of the extortionate price of Festool products

Initially was going to write bad review as when first fitting the adhesive doesn't seem to stick. However you need to clamp the guards to the guides over night them they stick better

I fitted the splinter guard to my track saw guide which I have for many years and it performed brillantly
