A really great piece of equipment for use with the Dremel multi tools!! I have been using my Dremel 3000 for a while and have other accessories to go with it, but I admit that the usual collet that comes with the package is not big enough for all my multi tool accessories to fit in, so that means either buying a pack of the assorted collets that are very small and could get lost, or purchasing the Dremel multi chuck that does the same thing, but more!! In my opinion it is absolutely brilliant and I would suggest to anyone with one of these multi tools that they need one for ease of use and not having to constantly change collets for different sized accessories.it is very easy to use and takes a lot less time to change between bits and holds them all very securely!! personally I don't know why the Dremel tools don't already come with one of these (well, I do, but its far better to purchase these off amazon, than to buy one in a DIY store!!) as they are a necessity.

Arrives in a tiny bubble pack and just screws on to the drill. The chuck does not work the same as a large drill chuck, in that as you screw it on to the drill the jaws close at the same time. So don't overtighten it or you will jam the jaws shut. Place the chuck on the drill then pop an accessory in the jaw then continue to tighten the chuck and everything will be secured in one go. Just undo the entire chuck to remove it from the drill or to remove the accessory from the chuck ~ it's all done in one go. It effectively works exactly the same as the standard Dremel chucks except that it has a larger opening jaws.Very useful of you are using non-standard accessories, but avoid using at higher speeds because it vibrates.Mine was perfectly fine at low speeds but I suspect the amount of vibration is "luck of the draw" so just be aware that it's not the perfect answer for everything.

Many people have complained that the chuck is jammed fully open when delivered, resisting mole wrenches, vices etc.In reality, when the chuck is screwed onto the Dremel tool shaft, the jaws close and grip the drill bit or tool shank, if it is then tightened, by hand against the push-button lock on the tool, the bit is gripped tightly.Loosening it is the reverse of this.Remove the chuck completely by continuing to unscrew anti-clockwise- though you'll never need to.It isn't like a mini version of a conventional drill chuck with a rotating outer sleeve. The knurled outer diameter and the part with machined flats, are the same part, they won't rotate against one another.Put simply, screw it on by hand and the jaws close to grip the shank of the tool. Unscrew it and the jaws open releasing the work tool and, if you keep on unscrewing it, it will come off the Dremel.

This item is a godsend for any compatible Dremel user (make sure to check it fits your model). If you're sick of having to change collets to fit different tools, or you find you don't have the right one when you need it, then do yourself a favour and buy one of these.Ok, so it doesn't act like a traditional drill chuck which seems to upset some folks judging by previous reviews. But it does exactly what it's supposed to. Remove the collet, and screw this item onto the dremel. As you tighten the "chuck", the centre hole will get smaller. Loosen the "chuck" and the centre hole will get larger.I've used it with 0.5 mm drill bits and larger items like sanding drums and it works a dream.Cannot recommendhighly enough - Dremel should be shipping these attached to their tools as standard

I bought this to go with my new Dremel 3000, mainly so that I could use some small drill bits with it. Installation was very easy, however I've decided to only put it on when I need it as many reviews have said that this can get seized onto the Dremel and is near impossible to remove - that doesn't sound like a great design so I won't risk it. Other users have chosen to leave it on because it's easier to use than the collet fitting on the Dremel, if you are frequently changing the bits you are using then maybe that's the way forward, for me the collet is not too bad.The chuck is much smaller than I thought it would be from seeing the picture, I don't know why but I was expecting it to be much larger.I've attached a photo for reference, which gives and idea of the size of it.

Essential kit for anyone who has a dremel. Allows flexibility in shaft diameter from approx 0.6 to 3.5 mm.I feel that it should be sold as an accessory with the Dremel and not as a stand alone purchase. All said and done, get one.Using these chucks on a couple of Dremels for a couple of years now. As a model maker I use these machines for hours each day with many tools. I haven’t found the problem of not closing although latterly the chuck is a little stiff but not as per so many complaints. They are NOT rubbish but essential for my work. The chuck would appear NOT to be universal with drills from other manufacturers but not to say that they won’t. Suck it and see is my only advice.

If you want to use micro-drill bits then the reality is that you have to get one of these because the only other option is expensive stepped bits that of course fit the collet's. With this you can use anything in the range of the jaws which for the likes of me is perfect because I am model maker in my spare time overseas where I work.It does of course fit the Dremmel but it also fits any number of other brands as well. I have this on a cheap Chinesium rechargeable one and it works just fine.Well made and easy to fit and use. I'd say an essential accessory for Dremmel style tools.

As other reviewers have noted, this little chuck is very useful, and should be fitted as a standard item. Over-all, changing tools with the chuck in place is a lot less hassle than having to use a spanner on a collet, and by its very nature is more convenient because the chuck accepts collet/tool shanks of different diameters. After I'd purchased this item, I did see on Amazon a similar-looking chuck from another manufacturer for less money (whether it is EXACTLY the same I know not), but I have no regrets with this purchase.

These chucks are great for using small (cheap) constant diameter drill bits, or other nonstandard diameter tools.I bought one years ago, and just got another one after buying a mains-powered Dremel for things my cordless one can't deal with. With my old chuck, the only minus point was that it only opened up just wide enough for standard-diameter Dremel tools, and over time it got slightly tighter, making fitting some tools difficult, but the new one opens significantly wider. so that shouldn't be an issue.

I got this to use up the remaining balance on an Amazon gift certificate I was given for a birthday. It's no larger than the standard collet that comes with the Dremel although easier to open and close than the collet. It screws straight on to the shaft, replacing the collet assembly. I can only imagine there are tools for the Dremel that would be better served by this mini chuck. Personally I haven't found it much benefit over the collet other than not having to use the spanner to release and tighten it.

Makes the Dremel much more versatile and flexible. To a large degree this chuck can replace the collet system but I would still recommend keeping the collet system and their locking collar supplied with the Dremel tool in a safe place.BEWARE of a lot of the nearly identical chucks being supplied from Far East, they simply do not have the same thread. They are a lot cheaper but what's the use of they don't fit??? Buy the branded Dremel chuck for use on a branded Dremel, else you'll get a lot of grief.

Okay, so yes of course this does what it is designed to and it does it well. In other words, you can put standard size dremel attachments into your dremel (drill bits etc) more quickly than you would do with a collet and spanner. However, there is more to this. If you modify a larger drill bit but grinding out three grooves, you can fit those larger drill bits into the 3 prongs of the chuck. This allows you to use the dremel in a homemade drill press (made for pennies) just like the one of ibuildit.ca

As others have said, this should be supplied as standard with the Dremel. It's more an adjustable collet rather than a drill chuck as it has to be screwed right back on the shaft to close the jaws, but nevertheless it works well and saves a lot of time in finding the right sized collet for the tool that you're using. Don't throw away your collets and cover though; there are a few jobs where these remain the best option. Good quality accessory and probably the tiniest "chuck" that you'll ever buy!

Initially made the mistake of buying cheap but received cheapBottom line was it was described as being the correct part number but was the wrong diameter threadThis is the correct Dremel part and so much easier to use compared to the collets systemAnother issue with the knock off cheaper chucks even if the correct thread is how true does the chuck run when using very small drill bits In this unit the chuck was as true as one would expect with a variable chuck and not specific size collets

I've biught cheapper, non-branded versions of this chuck but they all showed their low quality, either not fitting the shaft, or poorly machined so the drill tips 'wobble' about making engraving impossible. This fits perfectly and is exactly centred so there is no 'wobble'. It's a lot more convenient to be able to change bits by hand instead of looking for the right sized collet and then having to tighten it by the spanner. These chucks are made by Dremel (Bosche) and are excellent.
