If you have purchased an SDS plus drill not unreasonable to assume that it will be used for hammer drilling in hard material. Which is precisely what it, and SDS plus drill bits are for! So get SDS drill bits for that, don't cheap out and try to reuse existing conventional masonry drill bits for hammer drilling with this adapter unless they are really small.To put this together is simple. But you will need to firmly hold nut on shank (17mm spanner is the proper tool) and a decent Pozidrive 3 screwdriver or T handle to really tighten.Also whole thing has an anti rust oil coating for protection during shipping. This can contaminate the blue threadlocking compound and stop it working effectively,

This is a word of warning for the unwary. As others have commented, this Bosch SDS adapter chuck is a very workmanlike piece of kit - well engineered; I haven't had cause to use it yet. Some short time ago I purchased a large battery powered Makita hammer drill from Northern Tools & Accessories and it came with an SDS chuck adapter as a freebee. On one job I wanted to use it for I didn't have the correct size of SDS drill bit so I used a plain shank drill bit and the SDS adapter, with the Makita drill set on hammer/drill. The chuck adapter immediately disintegrated! There was no warning about the need to be sure to use "drill only" with the SDS adapter and Northern Tools were completely unreceptive to my complaints.

When I received my new Bosch Drill I hadn't realised that all of my old drill bits would not be compatable with it, so I bought some new SDS masonary bits.Just as I was considering throwing all (quite a large number) of my old bits away and downbeat at how much it was going to cost me to replace them, I heard about this adaptor. What a God send, easy to fit and remove, plus it does the job it was bought to do in a more than adequate fashion. Additionally I can now use all of my 'old' drill bits until they are worn out. One heck of a buy. Congratulations to the inventor.

Bought this SDS-to-normal drill but adapter to go with a new Bosch SDS hammer drill. Normal drill bits won't fit the SDS chuck as standard but with this neat adapter you can do just that, which is a lot cheaper than buying two drills.Very quick to switch between SDS and non-SDS simply by removing the adapter. Very solidly made, as to be expected from Bosch. Think the drill wil break before this does!Important note - make sure your SDS drill can be switched to normal drilling (i.e. non-hammer/SDS) mode. If not you can't use this adapter.

Buying an SDS bit (in error) created a chain of events whereby my husband got a new SDS drill. Like many others have found , it was the choice of replacing all his drill bit collection with equivalent SDS bits or buy this adaptor. This does what it says, he now has access to a really good drill and variety of bits without too much extra expense. The price of this adaptor was very competitive, cheaper than any found available at the time of purchase. Well made item by Bosch, a perfect match for his new Bosch drill. One happy man!

Having invested in a more powerful, SDS Power Drill, i realised that i still had an extesive collection of "Chuck" Drill Bits, so an Adaptor was more econimical than replacing like-for-like with SDS Bits. This is a solid, heavy adaptor that immediately inspires confidence. Typical Teutonic build quality. It fits effortlessly into the SDS Socket of the Drill. You can buy cheaper alternatives, but, this Chuck Adaptor will outlive your Drill, and probably you too, buy with confidence.

Just posting a couple of things that may help other people with this item, firstly the screw that holds the chuck on has a left handed thread (unscrews the other way for the non technical) which isn't mentioned on the packaging.Secondly if anyone is wondering why it appears that there are 2 identical items for this with different part numbers and different price points the difference is this one is alloy, the one at around £30 is stainless steel.

This is a first class addition to my Bosch SDS drill, I have used it a lot since I bought it a couple of years ago and it is still working fine.Obviously you have to bear in mind that there is a lot of grunt in the SDS drill itself and treat this attachment with a bit of care, but it is invaluable for using spade bits and ordinary twist drills or small masonry drills which otherwise I would have had to throw away.

I have a Bosch PBH 2100 drill and bought this adapter to be able to use my regular drill bits with it. It works as expected, drills nice holes quickly without effort. My only reason not to give 5 stars is that when I drill a whole in cement with it, I have the impression that the adapter lends some extra circular motion to the drill bit which makes the whole a little bit larger (but maybe it is only my imagination).

Does exactly what it's supposed to and is faultless. The usual high quality finish from Bosch, a name you can trust in my previous experience. You'll also save a small fortune, for a minimal investment, because you don't really want to replace all those perfectly good drill bits in your tool box do you? I use mine regularly on DIY jobs large and small and if you pair it with an SDS drill

Works really well with my new Bosch SDS drill. Used it to drill holes into 3mm aluminium profiles. Drill bit sit properly and nothing wobbles or vibrates.Good option to carry on using your old standard drill bits.Don't use it with the hommer function. Seems like some reviewers have done exactly this and it ruins the chuck. It's also written on the box.Hammer = NOHappy drilling.

This is much sturdier than a quick-release chuck I'd tried that fell apart at first use. However, the chuck key seems to slip in the chuck cogs when tightening the bit. And it does need to be tight. I find that, especially with hammer-drill action in masonry, the bit often comes loose. That said, it's a useful and sturdy way of converting from SDS to normal bit usage.

A well made, solid, sturdy product that did nearly everything I wanted it to do.On large drill bits, this worked perfectly - even on demanding tasks.However, on the smaller drill bits, the adapted slipped and failed to grip the drill bits. I'm not sure if it was a fault or problem with my bits (so to speak), but I hadn't had this problem with my normal drill.

Bought this to use with a Bosch 2100 pneumatic hammer SDS drill. Fits quickly, precisely (no wobble in use), is of excellent quality and is a must for anyone who has just bought a (not sure it has to necessarily be a Bosch) SDS chuck-equipped drill but has a thousand useable regular HSS drill bits in the toolbox.

Bought a new SDS drill, and wanted to continue to use old traditional bits. This product works perfectly. Just fits on like an SDS drill bit. Then fit the old drill bit in the normal fashion into the adaptor. Just remember to NOT use it in hammer mode as it will damage the adaptor and drill bit. Works perfectly.
