So I've been watching F1 almost 40 years since 1981 (when it was actually really good compared to now...) and I have always had an F1 game on every console I've owned the most memorable for me being Super Monaco Grand Prix on the Sega Mega Drive I believe in 1989 and the absolutely brilliant Formula One Championship Edition on the Playstation 3 back in 2006, it's been a 14 year wait and finally F1 2020 might just about scratch that itch I've had for ages now.To be honest I have tried almost all of Codemasters attempts at F1 since they started in 2010 but I've never really been happy with them for a few reasons the main one being that as I'm getting on a bit for a gamer now I just find them fartoo simulation based in style and frankly too bloody hard to play because I don't have the reactions I had 20 years ago!But to their immense credit Codemasters have done something quite rare by actually listening to what gamers like myself have been asking for a long time and this years edition of the game finally includes a couple of great things that make it so much more accessible to a much wider range of players.... Casual Racing Mode which is far more forgiving than the standard sim style is a godsend for me with lots more automatic settings options and simple assists that help you get into just racing rather than worrying about a million settings for the car has at last delivered a simple and enjoyable almost arcade style F1 experience for people like me who just want a casual bit of F1 racing! Everything is still there and you can gradually turn off the assists or just switch over to standard mode whenever you like, it's a really simple thing that the game needed and absolutely nothing is ruined for the expert players at all because they still have the game they want as well it's now just so much more accessible to more people and that's exactly how games should be. To top things off there is now also a 2 player split screen racing mode so at last I can race a pal at home on the big screen while having a beer, games always had this option when I was a lad and sadly in this online age it's disappeared completely in recent years so it's brilliant to see it brought back here.... Bravo indeed Codemasters!F1 2020 pretty much has everything a fan of the sport could want including of course the official F1 2020 season fully up to date, the F2 2019 season and to my absolute delight plenty of classic cars and a championship for them as well done in proper old school style racing on iconic circuits with all the correct rules of the time, fabulous stuff! Finally to go along with the standard 10 year career mode there is the much talked about My Team mode where you literally build a car and a whole organisation from the ground up becoming the 11th team on the grid, this in depth management style system coupled with the actual driving will be loved by many F1 fans for sure and again is very welcome edition indeed. From a graphics and audio point of view the game is mostly a very solid performer with just occasional screen tearing showing up and the odd bit of muffled sounding audio particularly from your race engineer plus some sporadic long loading times being the only notable problems I've come across, the game has crashed on me a couple of times also but patches seem to be coming thick and fast so I think these issues will be sorted pretty soon anyway. So, why only 4 stars after so many positive points??..... Dynamic Weather!!!!! This really does need correcting, in single races you can turn it off but as soon as your doing any championship or career mode it can't be turned off and oh my god it just rains waaaay too much, I literally had torrential rain in 5 out of 12 race weekends in my first classic cars championship and it drove me insane!! Once or twice is fine but 5 times out of 12...??!! Come on guys sort this out it's a potential game ruining issue, it might look great and provides an interesting challenge yes but not every other race for Christ's sake!Apart from that one genuinely annoying problem I really do appreciate what Codemasters have done here and I would rate this as the second best F1 game I've ever played... Formula One Championship Edition 2006 still remains the best for me but only just now as F1 2020 is very very good indeed.4 Stars would be 5 if dynamic weather was sorted out properly.

I was a big fan of racing games in my teens, in particular Codemasters’ TOCA and Colin McRae series, since getting my real world driving licence however, it seemed a pointless endeavour, but since the lockdown and finding this game was well received in the press and, having not even played an F1 game since Murray Walker was the commentary voice (2001!?) I thought I’d give ti a go...and I’m still at it!First of all, this is the first racing game I’ve ever bothered at all with its Practice Sessions and to a larger degree, car settings, as they are essential and (honestly) very fulfilling, in particular with Career Mode. Learning a track is essential, especially on street circuits like Vietnam and Monaco (God I hate those two tracks!).You get Development Points which you need to spend developing 4 main aspects of your car (Durability, Aero, Powertrain and Chassis) and unlike my old PS1/2 racing sims, you can definitely FEEL the difference. A car handling like a broken and heavily loaded shopping trolley at the beginning of your career handles like a dream after two or three seasons spent developing the right areas that you find lacking (that’s without occasional rule changes that can set you back a little). Complimenting a team where a car part is or will be developed helps no end as well, as, a high morale can lessen the time taken to develop a car part and reduce the risk of failure, you really need to be on your toes even in menu screens in Career Mode! You also need to beat a chosen rival and teammate in qualifying and race sessions for Acclaim Points as well as contract renewals, you can perform well and risk negotiating a higher paying contract, which can be used to buy Driving Perks e.g. better Press Skills or more durable car parts. It is a very immersive experience, something I remember starting way back with TOCA : Race Driver, but is MILES better here! I haven’t even started My Team yet, which is meant to be the best part! This is both easily accessible and esports realistic, the difficulty and assist settings are almost totally customisable from basically Arcade racing, no damage, no consequence to pure racing sim where a minor cut of the corner can result in time penalties and the slightest of rear wheel nudges can damage your front wing, heavily compromising your steering and performance to the point a repairing pitstop is all but essential unless you plan on wrecking your car further. The only downside for me is the requirement of PSNetwork Account for online gaming, but that’s probably because I’m a bit of a Scrooge and probably won’t justify having an account as the single player mode is SO immersive I wouldn’t really get my money’s worth.Otherwise, this is hands down the best racing game I’ve ever played and is in the top 5 of video games, regardless of genre I’ve ever come across, endless replay value, adjustable challenge, total immersion, and intelligent and enjoyable racing - all you could ever want!

First F! game that I have purchased for many years have preferred sports car/saloon car gamesLike all games it has issues. The perfect game is a matter of personal choiceThe driver avatars are not that good, but this is a racing game after all. One glitch I found amusing for a while is that during the celebrations only the driver's hands appeared. That's subsequently been fixed. I have finished all the championships and on the one for the classic cars when replayed no standings where shown. Which is annoyingI have not attempted the F1 career or my team scenarios as of yet. Another glitch is that DRS is available when passing cars that are in the pitsThe racing graphics to me are very good. One good feature is that you can hide the halo bar. I honestly don't know how the F1 drivers manage to drive so accurately with that obstruction. I find it necessary to also use the virtual mirror The car mirrors are not that goodRacing in the rain illustrates how bad the vision is for the real driversAll in all its a very good racing game. You can alter the settings to suit your abilities. Backmarkers move off the racing line when approaching them and when attempting to overtake the cars in front perform a single move to prevent you from doing so. Both being very good featuresTo play at the highest levels with all the aids turned off you really do need a good steering wheel and pedals. There are numerous adjuments that can be made whilst on the move. using the controller can be quite difficultHave not tried the online racing at the time of writing. Have tended to stay away from that as on another game there are many cheats and people who just want to cause accidents. For example on the Lemans circuit times have been posted one minute below the actual cars. That is impossible to achieve Perhaps I shall be pleasantly surprisedOverall very please with content. The purist will probably say its not a simulation but if you are looking to be entertained with the option of being able to make adjustments entertainment is what it provides

Im actually loving this game especially creating an 11th team in My Team career!Creating Your Team is ok, alot of decisions on the fake Sponsors are fine, picking a Driver frim F2 is probably the best way of saving money and then build him up through the seasons or change for another Driver, and a choice of 4 Engine suppliers depending on what your prepared to pay.Only problem i have is that the customisation choices of cars suits and helmets are not exactly brilliant most of the liverys looks like theyre based for kids but alot of adults do play this game too.. something codemasters need to improve on by 500%.Youve also got the normal Career Mode where you can either start off in F2 and workyour way up to F1 or skip F2 and jump straight into F1.Theres also online Ranked and Unranked races which i ignore as theres too many idiots but i am in 2 online leagues not doing toi great in either to be fair but you do learn more from playing in leagues as i have no idea about cars and set ups to make you go faster.Theres also Time Trials to improve your persinal lap times, Austria in games 2017,18 and 19 i could only get 1.07 but on 2020 i have had a 1.03.347 thats almost 4 seconds faster which is why i prefer 2020 to previous games.2020 season we lost German Grand Prix but Holland and Vietnam added a circuit to the 2020 season both circuits are decentOn previous games my back wheels would slide out on certain bends in 2 particuliar circuits Belguim Japan and Spain and im now doing Belguim with no problem at all and Japan and Spain are actually ok now.Codemasters Debut Effort for My Team gets an positive 5 but needs alot of progress for 2021.

The game is very good, building on what they had in 2019, the addition of myteam is good but the limited livery options are not so good. Ai is improved and patches have made sure it stays relevant to the current season. Main criticism is the podium pass just feels like a quick cash grab and if it had a proper livery editor it would be worthless (probably why it doesn't have one) the graphics can be ropey on occasion and once at monaco saw a pit crew member changing a tyre in the swimming pool section when the camera does a pass over before the race..... ai while improved can still be amazingly moronic and as a driver you will never get a dnf from a mechanical issue (sure not a big deal butspoils the realism when your teammate gets 5 dnf for a mechanical failure)

Would give this game a 5 star if Codemasters weren't so lazy, Mercedes are the wrong colour, Ferrari are way to quick,Racing Point are way to slow.all that means no 5 star also it rains to much 5 out of 11 races so far I like watching wet races but racing in the wet on the game is just slow and boring the weather should be optional it's a game after all,one final gripe at Amazon this time £55 pre-order then 48 hours after release they drop the price by £10 makes me feel ripped off never pre ordering from Amazon again.

I haven’t played F1 for a number of years. I think the last one I owned was 2015.This is a great improvement. I’m really enjoying playing the career mode. I use a wheel and pedals for driving. It’s difficult with all the assists turned off and I am amazed at how many people are 7 seconds a lap faster than me :)But as I practice the seconds fall off.Very enjoyable and thankfully it has a feature we’re you can rewind the drive to an earlier point before you have an accident so you can make the adjustment.

Last played F1 2017 and new versions never appealed to me, until I had seen MY TEAM added. Seriously enjoying this game again in this mode in particular, building your car, hiring a second driver. Really good. 1.05 update just released which fixed a few glitches like being disqualified due to not using the mandatory tyre (even though you did) - sound using headsets was very choppy cutting out, but seems to have also been fixed on the update. Highly addictive.

15.7.2020

Admittedly I haven’t owned the more recent F1 games over the past few years so can’t compare it to them, however, this is a fantastic game. My Team seems like a great option if you want to play the game in a little more depth, however, you can also just jump in and race on your own/on split screen. Certainly more challenging than some racing games but who wants to be able to win each race with no competition on their first attempt! No complaints - 5 Stars!

29.7.2020

The new 'My Team' mode adds a completely new way to play F1, with the ability to simulate races you can essentially also play this game as an F1 Team Manager. I've marked 3 stars for difficultly because you this can be scaled to your ability without any consequences. I do 50% length races on 90 difficulty which is definitely a challenge, but new users can play 5 lap races on 20 difficulty, if they prefer much faster races without the strategy.

I bought this for my Fiance and honestly best purchase while in lockdown! Hes spent a fair few hours playing this game and in all honesty I love the break it has given me from him, haha.I am heavily pregnant and as you can imagine quite hormonal so being able to keep him in another room with his headphones on glued to a game has been bliss! I will definitely be recommending to my fellow lady friends for their other halves!

14.7.2020

Absolutely incredible. Everything you could possibly want from a Formula 1 game. Intense, difficult and customisable. The addition of My Team is genius and in itself is potentially hundreds of hours of gameplay. My only gripe is Amazon dropping the price by £10 after less than 24 hours from launch. I paid £55 for the pre-order and certainly won’t be doing that again. Very disappointing by Amazon.

28.7.2020

Evolution not revolution. This years game by Codemasters varies on from the great work in previous years. This year for the first time features My Team, giving you the opportunity to create your very own F1 team to compete with the realign teams, providing more depth to career mode. A great game and well worth the purchase if you are a fan of F1 or have never played an F1 game before. Lights Out!

19.7.2020

Bought Schumacher dlc for this edition which worked our cheapest because curry’s sold at fantastic price.Note Schumacher edition is not worth the price because all you get is a picture on jewel case!If you have the steel book then it’s ok.Remember all discs are the same and none come with Schumacher pictures on actual disc:(Great game and I’m always Schumacher;)))

17.11.2020

Excellent game. The new 'MyTeam' mode is brilliant and adds a whole new playability to an already great franchise. It's an absolute nightmare playing with assists off and no flashbacks, only to get a puncture on the final back straight at Silverstone to then lose your own racing team's first podium - a gaming moment I'll never forget albeit devestating.
