This device works as advertise right out of the box. I find the use of the SD card the most handy way of transporting the data from the logger to the computer and thus avoiding having to directly connect the logger to the machine and often having to use special access software. A minor caveat is the description of the format of the SD card as Excel compatible maybe in error. I was able to drag and drop the data into Linux's clone of Excel but could not load the data in a manner I normally associate with Excel files from Microsoft sources. The logger's output file is simply a text file in the format of an Excel screen. However, the SD file is in a format more suitable for my purposes and is readily input into Gnuplot or R for graphic display or analysis after filtering with a commonly available "newline" conversion filter. As another reviewer noted, there is no on/off switch so that if batteries are used they should be removed during periods of prolonged storage.

Great product! I use a Mac and didn't want to futz with PC-only programs for downloading data from a monitor, which most other monitors have. This one records to a memory card, which you can stick in you Mac (or PC), with an adapter, and the data is stored in files as a tab-separated table. The file names are *.XLS, but it's just tab-separated data, which I was able to read into R with no problems. It stores 30,000 lines (date, time, and reading for each probe) per file, then rolls over to a new file.I can definitely see noise of about +/- 0.5 degrees F, but that's not a big deal. I used it to monitor the water input and output temperatures, as well as the air output temperature, from our water-source heat pump. It's fascinating and useful. Seems reliable, and includes everything you need to get started.

Pros:- Clear readout- Removable SD card- Easy to setup and useCons:- the "auto" logging function is ok for keeping the data concise, but it's not a setting I prefer to use. However, it does have traditional specified logging intervals as well.- the stand to keep it upright is borderline useless.Overall: It's a great unit for the price, and it allows me to do analysis of my commercial environments that would otherwise be very difficult. In the long run, the data it provides saves me a lot of money and headache by allowing me to ward off problems before they become major headaches.

This device met my expectationsPros: It works out of the boxAccuracy of system appears to be +- 0.1 C or lessSimple operation and good instructionsEasy to use.Cons:When using open office spreadsheet, the spaces create formatting problems I first open the Extech spreadsheet in wordpad and remove all spaces but not the tabs. I can then use tab seperated variables to load a properly formatted spreadsheet in openofficeCalc.

Does what it says on the tin! I bought this to monitor the temperature rise over time of an experimental solar heating system for a pool. Logging to a memory card in csv format means extracting and manipulating the data is very easy in using excel. One VERY minor niggle is that the thermocouple probe wires are only 1metre long which is a bit mean given the cost of a couple of extra metres of wire. Otherwise very good.

This box is just what a temperature logger should be. Easy to set up, pretty accurate, and absolutely no muss, fuss, or bother. You tell it to log, and it just logs, with no bells and whistles. The data is stored to an SD card in human readable form that can be read by a spreadsheet, math program, or text editor.Brilliant.

This is a really great product. It writes to an SD card, which I can read on my Mac. It even comes with an SD card and batteries. It's easy to set up and use, and the battery seems to last a long time (2 months so far, logging once every 10 minutes). Very good.

I've only used the SD200 a few times, but so far so good. The SD card logging seems to work well.My only complaint is that there is no on/off switch, so I have to unscrew the back and remove the batteries before putting the logger away.

This data logger is great for use in the field when you need to record environmental parameters. It can be calibrated for NIST traceability. Solid construction and easy to use.

This device exceeded expectations and the thermo-couples perform well. It is easy to use and extract and analyse its data.

Works fine! However, I would have like to pay few $$$ more and have an on/off switch instead of removing batteries!!!

Good device which is simple to use and provides a data export to excel.
