Had all manner of volt sticks over the years - I particularly like the ones with audio feedback which this doesn't have.If using a tool pouch always store this thing light upwards or you'll always have a flat battery (AAA type). You need to pay attention when using it as it has to be held so you can see the transparent part of the illuminating sensor - it's possible to miss a live cable when probing in a box full of wires and your wrist turns the blank part of the sensor towards you.I quite like the idea of blue/red sensitivity - using blue I can trace my house wiring quite easily. It'll trace the 50volts in a phone line.Pretty good product but far too easy to accidentally turn it on and flattenthe battery.Very expensive. At work I must carry non contact voltage detection - the Fluke is doing it for me at the moment. The torch is I suppose quite handy as it saves a hand but I've usually got a Cree light in my mouth anyway.

As an Electrician I have gone through many volt sticks (magic wands) over the years, some have been adequate but most have been utterly useless. Having just bought my first Fluke volt stick (magic wand) I am absolutely amazed at the quality and effectiveness of this product. Unlike my existing volt stick it does not have an audible warning, but to activate it you simply press the button on the end which switches on the led torch and then when you place the volt stick near a voltage source it glows blue, then as you get closer it changes to red. Where it differs from all my other volt sticks is that it can detect a voltage source at metal switch plates.Obviously I never assume that any cable or termination is dead until after I have tested it with a proper voltage tester such as my new Fluke T100, but treat the volt stick with respect and you will love it.

I have one of these in my pocket all day being an electrician. Previously I had a Draper detector and the quality of this is far superior. The torch is very handy and bright as well. It flashes blue when near and red when at the source at 50hz or 60hz. It takes a standard AAA battery and overall it can take most of the knocks thrown at it. Only two negatives, the first being the price, at £20+ it is the most expensive out there and second, there is no audible tone.As with all non contact detectors, it will not detect through metal. When it comes down to it, this could save your life. I'm constantly checking cables before I work on them and although not an approved method, its as good as any. This little device has saved my tools and my life a few times. Well worth £20.

This is by far the best volt stick out there but it's a shame it's been discontinued.I've been using these for 10 years and use it everyday as an electrician, just keep it in my side trouser pocket and I have a voltage/interference provING device and a handy torch at anytime. The size is so compact compared to anything else on the market and a AAA battery will last ages.It also picks up data signals, it will turn blue to signal a cable still has slight voltage through the neutral but not live which is also very handy.I really don't know why they discontinued this product as the new fluke voltstick is big and bulky with no torch, how can that be improvement!

This works by detecting the field created by the electric current. So this doesnt work so well with armoured cableing of sheathes and earthed cables. The torch facility is invaluable great for dark areas and will light the small rooms up well so easy to see underfloor cabelling etc. This works fine with mains but its not accurate enough to measure point checks when there are multiple cables, so you would need to use a multimeter or electric screwdriver when used for mains work.Would always have an electric screwdriver in the toolkit when working with mains, or a multimeter when working at the upper end of the voltage spectrum.I would purchase again.

Everyone knows Fluke company for their quality products and this voltage tester is not an exception. It is working perfectly and I use it on a daily basis.I find voltage even on walls where cables are passing. The flashlight is also very bright and can help you in dark electrical boards.Maybe it would be better if there was noise signal too, but for me the red light indication is enough.I would recommend this to amateurs and professionals.

A brilliant tool, saves a lot of time trouble shooting & fault finding.Highly recommended for home use & anyone working in the electrical or engineering trade.Very simple & safe to use with the well fluke brand on the testers body.A very good price, the cheapest b fa I have see around & ready to use straight out of the package.I do personally highly rate this tester giving it 10/10Airash

Probably the best currently available non contact voltage tester on the market. I bought this as a spare, not that they go faulty but you can never account for losing or breaking your fastest fault finding piece of equipment. It would be like going back to eating my dinner with a spoon as having to live without this brilliant bit of kit.

Brilliant little volt pen as expected due to its sensitivity ranges (blue/red) it picks up 110v through yellow flex as some volt pens you usually have to be on the point of termination to pick it up only concern is that the top button feels abit delicate but that's the only bad point and the led light comes in handy aswell

Hey guys,If you want to be sure there isn't any power in walls, cables, or you want to see where your cables are, get it. It's so accurate.I had one before and someone liked it too, I haven't seen it since. Got a new one for this xmas again. Well worth. Fluke is one of the top makers of testing equipment.Happy testing.

I've followed a few known power supplies buried in the wall and it always shows red-indicating a live cable within an inch or so, which is excellent. However, I have entire walls where I know there are no buried cables and it shows blue which indicates there is a power supply in the vicinity which is a little worrying

All my gear is fluke as used them in a previous role so know the make to be reliable , and I got this as the only item to keep in service vehicle as easy to hide . But it is only an indication of voltage not the measure of it so used with other voltage indicator prior to any work .

Works well but a shame it wastes the battery on an LED torch, it cant be used without it.It will turn blue if used on a dead cable that is in parallel with a live cable, so needs caution as it can be confusing.I prefer my old Fluke volt stick 2AC, but that's just an opinion.

I thought the switch had broken because it would intermittently switch on.I checked the switch with a multi-meter and it was fine.Amazing the torch element worked that well with low battery. However changing the battery it is back to normal function. Very bright torch light

This is the second one of these I have had, first one got stolen by a machine. Really usefull bit of kit. It detects really low voltages which is good for quick testing. The light on it is usefull when digging into a loom. Its a bit pricey but good.
