I live in Houston, which was severely affected by Hurricane Harvey. While the hurricane is long gone, many structures were soaked and some even remain damaged. This becomes a problem when you are looking at buying a surprising amount of things. Like houses, renting offices, and used cars. Knowing how damp the air is in an area is can be an indicator that there was some trouble in the past. I'm not talking about the main living spaces, I'm talking about the back rooms, closets, sheds, crawl spaces, the trunk of a car, and other places which should be dry and don't get much airflow. You can't get into walls and look for mold or mildew but moisture can be an indicator. You would of course need to establish a baseline for comparison by getting readings from surrounding areas that are "known ok".While this unit by no means provides a "go/no go" answer toward renting a space or I find it to be very useful for establishing "peace of mind" by telling me the moisture content in the air of a given area.I found the unit easy to understand and operate, and I have a lot more peace of mind having used it.

I'm a prepper so we store a lot of food and such. Shelf life is obviously key, but our storage area is in the basement, which can be difficult to keep in the ideal storage conditions. I was very excited to see this come through Vine, thinking it would be a big help there. It's really easy to use and read, with one exception - the mode indicators are tiny. Maybe I just have old eyes, but neither of us could read it. We just cycled through the functions and learned the placement positions we wanted. That's not a big deal, since memorizing position is pretty easy, once you figure them out, but maybe I'm overly picky, I just don't expect to have to do that, especially since the screen itself is quite large,so yeah, I'm taking a star off because of it.Having whined about that, I also advise you to ignore it and try this thing. It really is quite useful.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - many things you buy every day will generate a small donation to the charity of your choice. My first psychrometer and with a manual I can easily understand! I am a new user and am writing this review from a novice's perspective.I store a lot of food and textiles. Humidity is an issue and I thought this device might be a good tool, at the least to be a bit more accurate in how and where I store these items. Temperature, humidity, dew point, and a wide and very granular reading plus minute and fast changes provide what appear to be extremely accurate readings with a digital LCD that is absolutely clear. Nickel plating on wires ensure longer life and the unit's housing is a durable hard plastic. The buttons work with a firm touch and sensible layout. Great, simple design.I know that I haven't exhausted the RHT510's capabilities as I don't need them all but for my purposes, this psychrometer/thermometer has added far more accuracy to my storage design, i.e. whether to use unheated but indoor storage, testing my refrigerator and freezer, dry storage, outdoor, closets with textile materials (to prevent moths, etc.).

Sturdy, easy to use, and accurate. This is a review of the Hygro-Thermometer Psychrometer. This is a handy device for both professionals and general consumers looking for fast and accurate readings. Humidity values update within seconds. It also has an external probe, a type K thermocouple. Type K are a common sensor calibration type. This is made of 2 wires that have a much wider temperature range than you might imagine, with a small thermocouple on the end that looks like a ball of solder. Type K thermocouples generally work in many applications since they are nickel-based, have good resistance to corrosion, and a wide temperature range. The Type K is inherently not quite as accurate, but it has a huge operating temperature range.

Whether you will use this for work or around the house if your home is prone to humidity, this tool is a great addition. The readings are accurate and produce instantly, and I did cross reference the readings with a few other devices for accuracy. One of the great things about this meter is that it has a tripod mount on the back, and when using the record mode, you can set the device up in an empty room and check back later to see the highest and lowest humidity and temperature readings. It does come with a temperature probe for more accurate readings. I do wish it came with a case so you could keep the probe and meter secured in one place. Overall I am happy with the device.

This seems to be a nice piece of tech. I haven’t tried the wind chill calculator because I live in Florida and I’d rather punch myself in the head than be like the news casters and announce the 50 degree weather has a wind chill of 30 degrees. OMG save it for the north. The thermostat seems accurate compared to a couple others I have and the humidity levels correspond with a humidity tracker I have. I have no way to double check the, air flow, and light level measurements, though just by feel they make sense. It is easy to use after a short learning period and the instructions are good and uncomplicated. It even comes with batteries. Overall it lives up to its promises.

Have you noticed when the outside temperature is in the 50s, the day is gorgeous. If the thermometer reads the same inside a house, it's freezing. Why is that? It's because of the relative humidity difference. weather dot gov actually has a special chart called "the heat index", which cross-references temperature with relative humidity at a temperature that "feels like".This little handy device quickly determines the temperature and relative humidity by pressing "M" button. In the attached image, you can see that keeping the relative humidity up is not easy here in Rochester, New York. Just as I was writing this review, I realized my humidifier

This is a really important tool for Mr Trouble who is a photographer and who stores some of his photographs that are printed to museum quality. We sometimes have a problem with storage because he tends to keep some of them in his office and humidity is a hard time to catch and measure. He is about to move all of his photographs and shows into a storage area that has temperature and humidity control. But this is an important tool as a backup. He will sometimes check the air quality several times but with a backup tool, he can simply compare information. It is a lot less worrisome.

This was something that I got for hubby to test and try as I have not much clue about something like this. When the package came and I saw what it was, I handed it over to him. When he turned it on and saw what it could do, he started grinning. He works with pianos including restoring them which means making new soundboards. They have to go through a process he calls cooking to get the wood dried to a particular humidity. The gadget he had been using he wasn't trusting any more, so even though this won't be used often, it will be doing its thing the next time he starts 'cooking'

Ok, lets start by saying any meter like this under $100 w/o a calibration certificate is a "cheap" meter. That said, this one is ok. Temp readings seem to be fairly accurate. Cannot test the RH just yet, need to get a salt RH tester to see. Like other reviewers have mentioned, directions are a bit chinglish for my liking, but after playing around with it you get the hang of it, etc.

The library! What, you don't have one? Like, a legit room with books in it? What's a book, you say!? Holy moly. Dude. I have a room with many antique / old books in it, and some artwork, too. I like to maintain the humidity throughout the year and now I use this to do it! It's not too difficult to figure out, and so far it's been useful for me, at least in that room!
