I put these on a hybrid 3/4 Hungarian bass with a 40 1/2 string length. I find the tone to be quite balanced throughout the E A D, though the G sounds a bit thin in the lower positions. They are quite good to bow into the higher positions, even on the E, but not as high as the octave on E. The slightly shorter string length on my bass has in theory dropped the tension to a medium, and that is as high a tension I would attempt to play. They bow well, and are quite accurate insofar as they allow you to hear your pitch accuracy when the bass is resonating, and these strings allow that. Really nice pizz on the A, but volume drops on the E, as does the bass. The D and G play we'll pizz and Argo into the higher position,

I bought these for an upright electric bass - the NXT4 where the stock strings are too bright and electricy. What that bass needs is dull strings and these, being orchestral fit the bill well. If you wanted to save money and were playing eg bluegrass or rock and roll,a cheap £15 set form china would sound almost as good but not last as long (or have the harmonics). I don;t expect to change these for three to four years in normal use (my last set on a normal double bass lasted five with full tonality even with regular gigging)
