Before I start off, I will admit I am biased. I've been using Ernie Ball strings (and bass guitars) for close to 30 years. In my humble opinion, these are a great set of strings. The nickel coating adds a warmness to the string that a lot of stainless steel strings seem to lack.In all honesty there is no difference in the feel of these and a set of Rotosou dvstainless strings, but there is a depth of tone, a warmth and a really even brightness that I consider to be unique to Ernie Ball strings. You can do all styles without limit. Slap, fingerpick, pick, tap and anything else. Just remember to change them once they loose that bright edge!So yeah, I'm an old man, set in his ways, but I know what I like.Great Strings, no negative points. Well the lack of a set for a seven string, but now I'm just bring silly.

I've used a lot of strings in my life, searching for strings that got the perfect balance between bright, punchy and warm. These Ernie Balls more than strike that balance! The strings feel great on the bass (purely a matter of prefence of course, but I love the feel), with a clean and smooth feel that makes playing a real joy and comfortable on your fingers. As mentioned, the tone is perfectly balanced, giving you a lot of versatility in terms of achieveing a specifc sound (I go from funk to rock to death metal so this versatility is great). My only complaint is that these strings could last a little longer, tending to last about a month as opposed to elixirs which last me about 2 and a half months (of course sometimes that mellower,"used" sound is beautiful in its own right!).Highly recommended

This was the first time I have changed the strings on my Bass guitar, I know I should have done it sooner than I have, as nearly 2 years use is pushing it a bit. It was a job that I put off as I really liked the sound I got from the original ones fitted and just couldn't seem to find any that came close to what I had been using, that is until I found these Ernie Ball Power Slinky's, I have used Ernie Ball strings over the years on other guitars and have been very impressed with them. These have been no exception to that and they sound crisp and clear, and make me realise how dull my old ones had become. Anyone who likes a crisp clear tone with all the depth, then I would recommend these Power Slinky's,definatly a string set that I will be using again in the future.

First off I am comparing these strings to my experience with other brands when they were new, so its not just the 'new strings vs old dead ones. For years I was using D'Addario for my bass (Fender '97 american precision deluxe) and swore by them. My bass was feeling like a bit of a plank with rubber bands on, so I splashed out on some of these and wow! Ok, granted I did the full bass adjustment when I changed strings, but my bass feels more electric and alive than it ever has. They feel more responsive and snappy than others have (even new) and the tone is just perfect. I was really unhappy with my bass while using other brands, but with these,it feels like I have a whole new and better bass.I have now fallen back in love with my instrument!

been using these strings for a while now, as my band gigs regularly i need string that not only sound good (these string sound brilliant) i need strings that can last a few gigs without losing their crisp sound as i hate the sound of dead/dull sting, very easy to play with them being 40 gauge rather than the usual 45 but i find them to be less fatiguing to play with and legato susch as slides, hammer on and pull offs are easier with these, i've played many makes and gauges before (spent a while on 55's) and all i have to say are these are the strings for me, the E string isnt the greatest for sat drop D tuning but it does the job needed. quality strings that makes playing more fun.

What can I say? I've gone through a fair few brands in the last 6 years and it's always come back to Ernie Balls. These strings have a lovely bright tone which last a good while before mellowing out, but not to a rubbish dull thud. Even after being broken in, these strings sound lovely. I play a squire Jazz bass, tuned down a full step (or sometimes to drop C) and these strings feel at a nice tension for that (I do like my strings fairly loose though). I would highly recommend these strings to anyone who spends their time in drop D, drop C# or drop C. These strings really pack the punch!

I often buy Ernie Ball strings, I like them. But be warned, the top strings of this set feel pretty tight when compared with the lows, which can feel a bit slack and floppy. That's probably to be expected of a lot of brands, to be fair. Maybe you like that more than I do. Although, as someone who likes to play in tunings like D-standard and Drop-C, Unless you have a multiscale/fanned-fret bass I can't say these are perfect, for metal, in particular.TL;DR: I'd like the bottom strings to be a little more chunky, aside from that, they're great quality.

I usually get the yellow ones, which are lighter. Well, new projects cam about and I was like yo, I need a fatter sound. These hit, man. These hit. Great sound, and they respond well to my pulling on them. I use a Sterling sub and the fatness blew me, man. Zingy, punchy and well defined, and with a hands on responsiveness I just never got from the lighter sets. I'm tempted to try a heavier set next time but until these die I'm happy to stick with them!(I play prog, funk and rock)

I bought these for my fretless bass, which I was having doubts about. They were recommended on a website specific to fretless bass guitars, so I decided to give them a go. They sound great and they're perfect for what I want them for.I would however say go for a heavier type of string if you're going to be playing slap bass, I've heard they break a lot more easily, but if it's just for 'softer' styles then these will be great.

I may sound a but over the top but these strings are great and I will definitely be buying them next time I need to replace my strings. They sounded great and fitted my bass much better than the last strings that I had. Fair enough, the great sound of new strings did fade after about a week, but hey, all strings have to lose that new sound buzz after a while.Great strings, and great price.

Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. I like Slinkies, have played on them for a while. Bass again sounds crisp and musical ... probably should've changed the strings sooner :)Last set, I must say, didn't last very long in comparison to the previous ones. But, I did play in hot and humid environments much more, so that could well be the reason.

As a funk rock bassist these are my favourite strings to use for a very crisp funk tone when popping and slapping but also with that very punch bottom end when using finger style.I use these on an Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray 4 which compliments the great tone of these strings, as well as in all the shops I go to these exact strings cost me almost £10 more.

Slinky bass strings, what more can be said. I like them, everyone has the preference but I love fresh skinkies. I'll change them every week if I have too! Which I don't, bit of string cleaner stuff helps a lot. More so on bass than guitar strings as I find bass strings take a lot more grub and grease off of your fingers than flimsy guitar strings

Been a fan of D'addario for a while but their prices have been slowly creeping up so I thought I'd try something simple. These strings are just as good as their more expensive counterparts and I was pleasantly surprised with how easy my bass was to setup after installing these. They sound great and still sound good a few weeks on.

These strings are brilliant! I have been playing bass guitar for over 15 years, and have used many brands over the years. I started using these around 10 years ago, and I've never been tempted to go back to using other brands. They keep their bright new sound for a long time, and are great for playing slap bass too.
