I have just put these on a semi-acoustic. The previous strings were plain steel flats, whereas these are chrome.The difference is very marked. It's not a question of one being better than the other, but I can create tones with these that I couldn't before.On a semi-acoustic, with a humbucker and some valve gain, they create a tone almost like a clavinova or an electric piano. Their brightness makes the most of the resonance chambers, while the quite heavy gauge keeps the strings taut and focuses the bottom end.I've given five stars because I am seriously impressed with the 'new' tone they've unleashed in the instrument and would recommend anyone with a semi-acoustic bass to give them a go.I may have to revise the score downwards in future,

Bought these for my dad to try out on is Stingray 5 a couple of months ago and he's been singing their praises and thanking me since. Have listened to him play in his jazz band with them they sound great. Lovely tone and definition.I have a different set of flats on one of my basses and would have bought them but was unsure of the scale, so I went with the Ernie Balls thinking they would fit. They did just fine and would recommend to anyone with a 5 string Music Man or any other headstock for that matter.

Really comfortable to play. Eliminates the grinding noises when moving up and down the fret board. I'm trying out all the strings, after a set of elixir's I find these very comfortable, with a lot of tone present on the 130 gague (b) string than I expected, the half rounds I used didn't give much punch down there so I was pleasently surprised when I started playing.

My bass tone has life again. I have a 5 string fender jazz deluxe, and these strings are the perfect complement for it. Nothing wears off on your figures like other brands may, nice tone, and great for sliding.

First time I have used flat wound strings. The sound is a great improvement, the strings are far easier on your fingers and they seem to stay in tune quicker. Highly recommended. Thank you Ernie.
