I play varying styles of music. I need a string that I can bow and play pizzicato. The Zyex strings satisfy both needs. The E string sounded a little ambiguous and dark when I first installed it. I have been patient with it and it seems to have improved. I prefer the presence of the medium tension set but I was looking for something a little easier on the hands and the light tension set is an acceptable compromise. If your bass has a longer scale you will probably need to get the 4/4 version of the E string as I did; the 3/4 E silk might not make it to the pegbox.Overall, I'm pleased with these strings. They have a good jazz sound and they're are easy to start with the bow.

I am more of a guitar player that plays upright bass also, which is why I decided to try out the Zyex Light Tension strings. Amazing tones from the strings. Very enjoyable to play upright with these strings on it. I wouldn't even consider buying a different type of string at this point. It was a sin to have the old strings on my upright compared to the way these sound. You can hear these strings being played on my bass in videos that I am on at my friend's web site: [...] Or come hear us playing around Cleveland sometime. I will even let you try them out for yourself if you happen to come see our gig.

After a great deal of experimenting with different brands/tensions over the years, I think I've finally found my strings; Zyex! They feel great under the hands and deliver a warm round sound from the lowest position all the way up the fingerboard. They bow well too. I would highly recommend these strings to anyone looking for a versatile and easy-to-play string.

I ordered the Zyex bass string set for my husband’s bass fiddle. The bass fiddle had very old strings which had not been replaced for new ones for many years. I suggested my husband to look in amazon.ca for the bass strings and once he found them I proceeded to order the string set. They work great and now my husband is back playing his bass fiddle.

Missy Raines suggested I try these to replace my Ed Ferris set up since I finally ran out of my stash of Kaplan Golden Spirals. My old 47 M-2 Kay is sounding mighty fine with these great strings and less than half the price of the Thomastik Spirocore and Golden Spiral setup I have been using. Thanks Missy!

These are the best Pizzicato and bowing strings for the best price. The only strings that never leave your fingers blister and sound very good in every range. They sound consistent with a pickup and microphone. Great for Orchestra and Jazz !!!

These strings are great, they sound REALLY good on our American Standard upright, and have a nice feel. We did have an issue with the 4th string and D'Addario was great to work with and resolved our problem.

I have been a big fan of the D'Addario helicores (hybrid) as I bow and play pizzicato mainly. These new strings by D'Addario are great. They bow pretty well and have a nice slight edge to them.

Love these strings, got them on 3 basses now. But watch out for the 3/4 E string, it can be too short with the silk over the nut. If that's the case you'll need a 4/4 E string

We bought this as a Christmas gift for our son. He was thrilled with the strings and the much improved sound that resulted. Very satisfied.

Nice, punchy, solid sound. It's the best this Chek Bass has every sounded. These replaced Helicores and they are all the above plus louder.

They slap and they bow. Find another string that does that for this price. And they feel good on the fingers night after night.
