I've just received the kit and only had time for a cursory examination of the box's contents. Although not a cheap kit, you do get a lot of model for the price. The package containing the kit had been damaged and the damage had resulted in slight damage to the kit box. The way the parts were packaged inside it avoided damage to the parts. At first, the documentation looks quite daunting with 6 plan drawings and 2 A4 booklets. Plan 1 is the hull while Plan 2 to 5 deals with the masts and rigging. Plan 6 is for the sails, but in this version of the kit, the sails have already been made up. One Booklet lists the parts and has the instruction assembly. The other booklet comprises a sequence of colour photos of the assemblies annotated with part numbers and linked to the assembly instructions. Although quite comprehensive, it doesn't fully explain each step so some experience of model making is required. As with most kits, it doesn't include adhesives, paints, varnish or any of the tools you will need. The weakest part of the kit relates to detail at the stern where photo etched metal parts are provided which will give a rather flat appearance to what would be carved details. Clearly to rectify that short-coming would have meant a significant increase in cost. At a scale of 1:94 it will be a bulky model by the time it is fully assembled and will need quite a lot of free space to work on it.

very nice kit, brass parts very well made, woods are good quality. Ensure you jig the keel keeping her straight as you fit the panels, this is because all ply will bend to the shape of the box and it's normal for the keel to be a few mm bent, esp when all the parts are on top of it but all the wooded kits suffer from this. Instructions have a few issues but just learn to read ahead and you will be fine, some measurement are a bit out but you will be fine as you will make the parts to fit your model, always measurement your model and check before cutting. You will needn't give her time, time and more time, 3000 hours is an average build time but that said its a great hobby and a beautiful ship.Enjoy.Well 6 years on and she is still under production, ok I’ve had many breaks in her build, making my own sails added to the build and many additional parts generally scratch built. Trying to rig her as she really was means you need a lot more blocks and thread. Oh talking about thread, throw away the green thread supplied, the Victory was not rigged in any green ropes...I also added the copper plates to the hull, omitted from the kit. But this remember is a budget ship, the best out there are triple the price.

I have almost finished building this excellent kit after about 4 months of full time work. The kit contains everything you need except glue, paint, varnish and tools. The more detailed small parts are preformed from wood or metal but there is still an enormous amount of raw building materials such as wood, metal strip, wire, thread and netting to satisfy the serious modeller. The quality of the materials is good but the instructions and drawings lack a few little details that really need some experience of building similar models to overcome. To be fair it would be unreasonable to expect step by step instructions for such a complex model. As long as you read well ahead and study the drawings you should not have much difficulty working out how to build it. There were many times that I looked at photographs on the internet and referred to a text book "Anatomy of a Ship, Victory" by John McKay which helped to clarify the construction. Yes it is a challenge to complete the model to a good standard but what a fantastic sense of achievement and a fine display item you get at the end.

Bought as a gift for my 75 year old father, he loves it. The project is still ongoing but he is enjoying every minute of it. Even inspired a trip to Portsmouth historic dockyard to see the real HMS Victory in dry dock. It's a pricey present but so worth it, the quality is through the roof. This is NOT an easy build so not for beginners. Constructo do easier builds if you are starting model building, have a go at the HMS Bounty by Contructo first to get the feel for rigging before trying the Victory.

It is a lovely kit, very comprehensive, I have so far nearly completed the hull, This is a winter project but I think it will keep me going for a long time yet. can't fault the instructions and guide book. Free sails will be a bonus for me when I get that far. On the whole a really great kit.

Excellent service, delivered on time, well packed. Good quality parts in kit. Good set of working drawings and colour booklet. Do check through the parts asap as mine was missing the thick black yarn, part of the rigging. An email to Constructor should get it replaced.

Excellent model. Lot of information on the web, but it is not as easy as they seem to suggest. In my opinion you have to be a very experienced and accurate modeller. I have been on it for three months, & don't seem to be getting any where. Will keep you up dated. fred

WOO i opened the box could believe my eyes this kit look out of this world and worth every penny i never seen a kit so deled and so much wood just getting the things to build it now would recommend this for the better model makers will take some time to build up

This product is very good and detailed but require previous skills or experienced model builders as the instructions is not very detailed and need an artistic wood working skill to build the ships hull. A challenge for for even an experienced model builder.

Really nice product, gonna keep me busy for years, excellent quality, but not for the novice. Instructions are a bit sparse and you need to improvise at times. But it will take a prize spot on display one day.

It is reasonably easy to work out which part goes where, if you use a little thought and some measurements. Once I had worked that out, things became logical. I am now up to step 6 and all is well.

Great kit, only one fault the box was not sealed, so i will not know if any parts are missing. This is a retirement project so it will be a year before i start it.

A really good kit, have to make a few adjustments on the laser cut pieces but a challenging kit to build, perfect for the rainy days to keep me occupied
