These shorts are cut very small. Size 8 fits like size 6 of my Saturday Trail lined pants. I initially ordered a 6 because I always bought Columbia size 6 pants, but these are really skin tight. Technically they fit, and I was even able to squat down due to fabric elasticity, but the crotch felt too short to be comfortable. Going up a size the fit is a bit more relaxed and airy but much more comfortable, yet it still looks nice. I don't have to worry about bursting the seams if I gain a pound or two or after a big meal, and I can comfortably wear it all day or to a hike. The 10 inch inseam length is perfect on me. I love the fact that it has 5 pockets and one is zippered so you can put keys or a very small wallet in it.

These fit small, but all Columbia's clothes are accurately sized. I wear a 4 in EB clothes and a 6 in Columbia's. But, these are the BEST shorts Columbia has ever made for women. The material moves with you (for outdoor activities or leisure/casual wear). The legs are tapered so no bulky/skirty look. The waistband fits perfectly. (I am 5'5 and 125# with long legs. 6 fits me for the right look and feel. They look nice and can be dressed up. I have been searching a long time for this fit and look---Finally! Ordered 3 more pair today!!!

Thanks to all the reviewers who helped me decide on the size. Without your comments, I probably would've ordered one size too small. Size 10 is perfect for my non-curvy 5'3"/ 130-135 lb frame and my preference for a somewhat roomy fit, not skintight. The fabric was a bit of a surprise, very finely woven nylon with a lot of stretch. I like it's softness. If these shorts last as long my more conventional Columbia nylon shorts, I'll be a happy camper, hiker, and pickleball player!

Ordered a UK size 16 but was sent a US size 12 which I believe is equivalent. These shorts would be very tight on a standard size 16 figure especially around the waist. I am a UK size 12/14 and these are a nice fit in US size 12. Recommend going up a size in this brand of trousers, although they are very stretchy, so if you prefer the tight sculptured look a US 12 will be fine for size 16 UK. Personally I prefer a slightly more relaxed fit for walking trousers.

These would be great if I worked out. As it is, my thighs aren't sexy enough to have this thin material clinging to them. The seams pucker a bit due to the thin material, but I do love the dark gray color. The inconspicuous pockets are nice too, and the back pockets are sewn down so they won't bunch up. I love that this material doesn't look darker when wet because I tend to sweat in the summer.

Decent shorts. They do run small. I normally wear a size 6 in bottoms and I had to send the 6's back. 8's fit just right. Not as nice as the Outdoor Research Ferossi shorts (long), but you can't find those anymore.I had a pair of these Columbia shorts prior, and they look nice and are comfortable, but they do pill in the rear end area after wear.

Fit true to size. I’m a size 8/10 (medium in all Columbia clothes) and they fit comfortably. I have bigger hips and thighs and they’re plenty roomy while still looking althletic and flattering. Waistband gaps a little in the back but that’s probably just due to my body shape. Super comfy and cute !

They are a great fit (however, Columbia brand clothing tends to run 2 sizes smaller than expected...so if you usually wear an 8 in women a size 12 will be the equivalent. Hey are sleek and love that they have build in sun protection and sweat resistant.

These shorts are amazing.. I'm going to order a few more. I love where they hit, a few inches above my knee. They look lady-like but still rugged. I didn't feel self conscious at all in them. I love them! I'm a U.S. 6-8 and I believe I got mine in an 8.

I have already bought 2 pair! These are great shorts and I get tons of compliments and people asking where I got them. The black are always at a really great price. Wish they would stock more colors and also put them on sale. Highly recommend.

Great fit! I have a hard time finding board shorts that fit my waist without being too big on my thighs! These are great ordered multiple colors! Usually size 12, ordered up based on reviews and they're perfect!

love the fit, and they are sooooooo comfortable, the length is great. Only con is the material is fragile, got a pull in the seat after one wear., but I like them so much I purchased 2 more pairs.

I’m 5’2” and wanted a little longer shorts. The 12” inseam comes to just barely above my knees, just what I wanted. I like the all over stretch of the material, great for golf.

I wish I would have ordered a size up. They were small. Unfortunately they were not available. Maybe next year or if they continue to make this style. Nice quality.

These fir perfectly, though I bought a size up. They have slim legs and I am happy to have hiking shorts without legs that balloon out. Dry quickly.
