I have used Burns dog food for years and love the product my old Labrador lived to 14 1/2. But recently my daughter bought Burns puppy food and I noticed it smelt very strong and the colour had changed from beige biscuit to very dark brown and greasy, the Puppy was eating the old Burns very well, but as soon as she fed the new Burns she had a very upset tummy, we were told by Burns to introduce it gradually which we have done but as soon as we gave her that little bit extra she came down with very bad Gastroenteritis, so took her off it completely and had to take her to vets for medication.Have spoken to Burns and they say they have changed Factory, and its being mixd up differently, which does not really explain the effect on our puppy. My vet said he's had a few cases in from feeding new Burns and our pet shop also said the same, don't know if it's just sensitive dogs or young dogs but anybody feeding Burns keep an eye out for this if your dog/puppy has an upset stomach and your Burns smells and looks different

We're finding Burns great. My 6 month old springer has been on it for the last few weeks, and it is the first food he eats the second it's put in front of him. Before this we had despaired of getting him to eat everything. After we ran out of what the breeder gave us he was on gain and then a generic pet food from our local pet shop, neither with much success: he just ate a bit and left the rest. We decided to go for one of the more expensive brands and after looking at reviews decided on Arden Grange, which he was a bit keener on, but the super high protein made him hyper and poos still weren't great. It was better than previous foods, but he never ate it all in one go. I'm delighted with Burns as a result. He's still full of energy and he's healthy with a soft shiny coat and poos are much easier to pick up. Hope he continues to like it, and we'll change over to the adult Burns in due course! Of course he's still hell bent on stealing our food as well, but I guess that's normal.

We bought this for our our young Springer Spaniel. Since he wasn't a working dog, we wanted a slightly lower energy diet than that chosen by the breeder (Dr Johns). The puppy is now 5 months old and Burns has been fantastic. The transition from Dr Johns to Burns went perfectly, no stomach problems or poop problems. We have no trouble at all getting our puppy to eat the food, he loves it, and we often use it as training treats. His coat is amazingly glossy and in great condition. His growth is faster than is to be expected of a springer pup, there are no problems with him putting on weight or gaining height. The size of the kibble is perfect for things like treat dispending balls.10/10.Update at 10 months: This food is still amazing. His fur is great, has grown well, his tummy healthy, and his energy levels are great.

Great puppy food which gives my puppy English Springer Spaniel all she needs. Our puppy is currently five months old, and this is the only food she has had since she was weaned. She's been developing well, and I put that down to using a high quality food. We plan on continuing to use Burns puppy until her growth plateaus at around 12 months.I am definitely of the belief that if you put rubbish in, you get rubbish out...A word of caution is that you need to be sensible when using the recommendation for amount of food per day. Our pup is certainly on the slimmer end of the spectrum, and we are feeding her almost double the guideline amount (8kg dog, 5 months old, 75g three times a day)as she is a very active breed and rarely sits still.

When we got our French Bulldog puppy the vet recommended Burns dog food. We immediatly started on the Puppy Mini and then progressed to the larger Puppy Orginal as the dog got bigger. The dog seems to really enjoy both the Lamb and Chicken flavours as she always vaccums it up as soon as we put it down for her to eat.In terms of quality I can say that our dog is in really good health (4-5 km walking a day which is a fair amount for a French Bulldog), her coat is in great condition, she has regular, firm poops and she doesn't have stomach issues or excessive wind which is a common issue with French Bulldogs. As an added bonus ordering online with Amazon is far cheaper than the vets :)Hope thishelps :D

We'd like to echo the positive reviews on here. We fed our puppy border collie iams dog food for the 1st 2 weeks and his breath, wind and poo were awful. After a recommendation from a pet shop owner freind we switched to burns. Not of the above now smell, he has minimal bad wind and he's much more shinny in his coat! He seems very happy and enjoys his food. One thing we will mention is we found that after talking to our vet where the bag recommended 100-200g for a 5-10kg dog for feeding a day we were having to feed him 250-300g rising to 400g when the bag said 10-20 kg dogs having 200-350g as our puppy was slightly underweight.

This is an excellent company making a variety of foods for dogs. I have used Burns for several years and it is the only food that my old Labrador could eat without any untoward consequences i.e. Burns makes good food for sensitive tummies so it was only natural that I turned to Burns for my Scottie pups. I am not disappointed and the pups are thriving. This is their third different kibble. They began with the tiny mother & baby kibble followed by Burns Puppy MIni but they are now thirteen weeks old and need something bigger. This was the natural successor and they love it!I recommend it whole heartedly - great for puppies!

My chocolate lab puppy had very mushy soft stools when she came to live with us. Kept her on breeders' food as advised and after a few weeks still no change. Got antibiotics too but no difference. Her coat was dull and she was constantly itching. I decided to change her to Burns after a few recommendations and what a difference! Shiny coat, no itching and firm stools! I gave up hope of that ever happening. I ran out of last week and had to buy another well-beloved name and within a day her stools had gone back to mush. I will not change from Burns as it really does her good which you can physically see. Brilliant!

Good food. Recommended by the rescue that puppy came from as being of similar or better quality as James Wellbeloved.Puppy is a cocker spaniel cross and is thriving on this food, plenty of bounce! She really loves the food and gets excited every meal time cleaning the bowl. She is not a fussy eater. Her coat is not super shiny or soft, she is growing quickly and appears strong and healthy on this food. Dog is happy to have this kibble as treats when training and has come running from day one when called and this is the reward.Am also using dondral wormer and occasional meat and veg from leftovers.

Tried many different foods hypoallergenic, sensitive with all different prices and always got the same result, loose stools!I would give him food for 6 weeks and then try a different brand as nothing changed.I gave him probiotics ,stool thickeners prokoin etc nothing worked. Now Alf has been on this for 3 months and after 3 weeks he has had really good solid stools with no more supplements needed so pretty amazing! It's a bit more expensive but he dosn't eat as much and its properly digested if your dog struggles i would give it a try it's been really good.

After persevering with a much more expensive organic puppy food, we decided to try this and I'm so glad we did. I purchased a smaller bag from our local pet store to try and our 6 month old Boston Terrier absolutely loves this stuff. We made the switch gradually to avoid any stomach upset and within 2 weeks he was solely being fed on this. Instead of having to tempt him to eat, he now runs to his bowl and sometimes even waits for more. Gone is the flaky skin, replaced by a smooth glossy coat. Behaviour is better and he is generally much happier.

I been struggling with my 4 months old pug - he was on james wellbelloved food (from breeder) and started having the runs.I suspected that his previous food isn't that great - bought a pack of this, and decided to introduce it without any kind of mixing with old food, as old food caused him the runs to start off with.Straight away he was good - no more issues. Of course this food is not the most nutritional for all dogs, if you compare it with other brands but I would say this is the best on the budget, or the "worst" of the good ones.

One of the best dry foods for puppies and it's not as expensive as you might think because you don't need to feed as much as the cheaper brands (useful for little tummies). My first puppy did eat twice as much as recommended, but grew at a steady rate without getting fat. My present little girl is a very poor eater (even the breeder had problems) but once I started adding this to the Burns kibble (a smaller biscuit for very young/small puppies) her appetite is much improved. I noticed that both puppies also have lovely shiny coats.

I have a 17 week old Cockerpoo puppy, I heard good things about this brand so went for it. I also have a 10 year old french bulldog bitch who has health issues and is underweight. The manufacturer recommends this for older dogs who are underweight as well. The puppy immediately developed the diarrhoea it did not suit him at all. But my older dog has absolutely thrived she's put on weight her skin irritation has improved as well. The puppy is back eating the brand I was feeding him previously. So overall I'm happy.

I bought Burns food after reading numerous positive reviews on other sites. It's a good quality food with no artificial additives and my Border Collie loves it! We bought him from a farm and his coat was quite rough and dull at first, but after just a week on Burns his coat was beautiful and glossy. The smell if his poo and wind (which was pretty bad when he first came to us!)has also improved. No problems with diarrhoea as reported by one of the other reviewers. All in all I'm very pleased with this food.
