I;m 48yo and a light-skinned Asian who's loved blue eye make-up since my teens, but I've never found an entire palette to play with, having to buy individual eyeshadow and mix and match. This is the first that contains an amazing blue, a lovely smoky grey, a lighter grey and a 'fuller-on' silver, which blend together amazingly.I am also really short-sighted and often end up with make-up IN my eyes, but there's a soft sponge brush as well as a velour-like brush included with these, and together, I've not had any accidents and there's not been much wastage or stuff covering my cheeks when applying.I've used this twice this week at Xmas dos inside hot, centrally-heated buildings and apart from the tiniest, tiniest smattering on my cheekbones/under eye area, making it look like I've continued the glitter theme, there's been no smudging and no having to re-apply. Also, walking outside in the bitter cold with watery eyes didn't make this come off.The colours can be used individually or in any combo, but I found that the silver and darker grey worked well together, as well as the blue and darker grey, and blue and light grey. I've used the silver with a different applicator to use it like I would an eyeliner, along my lashes, and despite an unsteady hand and hampered vision, it's such a solid palette of colours, that I didn't mess up. Best of all, I like that this doesn't clump in my eyelids and doesn't go patchy or make me look like mutton dressed as lamb.I'm impressed with the quality of the products, the colours, the applicator and the palette itself, which is small and compact, with a solid catch that means it doesn't come open in handbags and can fit into the smallest evening bag. Wish I'd discovered this years ago!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say, and that must apply even when we’re talking about beauty treatment for the eyes themselves. My daughter carried out the product testing here, and I’m pleased to report that she found strongly in favour of this particular palette of eye-shadow. I am the ‘official’ reviewer of this UK Vine offering, and I can contribute the perception that on her it looked fine to me.The plus-points in favour of this offering are that it comes in a handy little palette with shades that can be worn individually or blended to create a smoky-eyed look that’s great for the right occasion and place. It lasts for a good long time apparently, and the lightest shade – the base shade – has a ‘primer’ that ensures that the makeup will stay in place. My daughter has worn the lighter shades in the daytime and applied darker tones when going out for the evening. This whole process was found simple and dependable, and this wearer was not inclined to criticise the product. That gets it a recommendation, or strictly two recommendations. The second comes from me as a ‘beholder’, and I don’t doubt that it will find more discerning admirers as well.

A lovely combination of subtle colours with that little bit of sparkle in the middle. This Bourjois set of 3 shades of creamy beige, taupe and a soft darker brown with a smaller glittery highlighting extra provides great colours for daily use, the three combine well as brow/lid and definition colours to give a gentle eye make up for day-to-day use and then the glitter can add the sparkle to perk up the look for evening. This is one of a range of sets to give a smokey eyes looks with blue/denim versions and darker browns I think this is a more gentle smokiness without a really dark colour. The creamy beige has pinkish tones and can be used a base primer to help the shadow last longer but they are not as long lasting as some of my favourite sets [hence the 3.5/4*]but am happy to have the handy little palette with double ended applicator to have in a bag.

My gf has used this makeup a few times now and we both like the light and pretty colours. They are discreet, yet noticeable. With regards to application, it doesn’t sprinkle all over the face and only takes one layer/stroke with the little sponge applicator. She usually uses two shades – light at the bottom and dark at the top - and both colours stayed in place and were equally easy to apply. The packaging looks nice and is functional in the setup. It’s easy to open and a good size for carrying in the bag for evenings out or at work. The only criticism of this is the applicator sponge. It works well to apply the makeup precisely, but it’s quite hard and the quality is not very good,so it will not last long if used on a daily basis. So a nice set, but get hold of a couple of backup brushes/applicator sponges or bring along your old favourite one.

I absolutely love this eyeshadow palette: it has great tone, is easy to apply, and stays put.The colours are really warming and provides a lovely gold shimmer. The colours blended really well to provide smooth application and a professional result. There are some simple instructions in the back as to how the four shades should be applied to create a smoky gold shimmer and they were really easy to follow. I was really pleased with how it looked because I thought that the blending might be difficult and look a bit silly. The quality of the eyeshadow is very good. It stayed on all day and still looked just as good at the end of the day as when it was initially applied. Additionally, there was no problem removing the eyeshadow with my usual make up remover. Without a shadow of a doubt, this will definitely become one of my make up staples!

I have heard it said that Chanel make Bourjoir products, or that they are made by the same manufacturer at the same factory..With this in mind I was keen to try their eyeshadows, because the colours of the premium brand are gorgeous. This is a really [really] nice set. The colours are super vibrant, and the gold in the centre is the most gorgeous eye shadow I have ever seen! There are no 'duff' colours in this palatte. All of them are really nice and I have to say it, some are as vibrant and luminous as the powders in the Chanel range! They go on beautifully, and have good staying power. These colours really are a bit special.I think this is excellent value and I will be looking for 'blushers'in the same range.Highly recommended. The colours are lush. A great product.

A well thought out combination of colours in a denim theme, which enable a good smoky eye look with a touch of glitter for party season. The small double-ended applicator allows for precision and blending – smudging being something I am expert at since precision application remains a distant dream.I like the combination of colours; the dark grey/blue allows for a dramatic eye that doesn’t have to be confined to the evening, I guess it depends on your outfit. I used the tip of the applicator to add glitter, which worked better than a fingertip for light highlights.Over the course of a day, I found the glitter transferred to other parts of the lid quickly although the rest of the look stayed in place and didn’t crease,so it has pretty good staying power, glitter aside.

I like how Bourjois creat a palette of colours that work together, and I have a couple of these already. This one doesn't include a guide to where to put the different colours (Bourjois often do this, it's helpful for less make-up savvy folk like me!), but it's not a problem, these colours were easy to use and I'm now used to how to create different looks with colours. I particularly like the middle sparkle powder which does add that something extra - particularly useful for a night out or turning a day look into a night look quickly by just adding the sparkle. The colours were nice but there wasn't quite enough definition between the different colours for me.It was a very subtle look. These palettes do offer good value and well toned selection of colours.

This Bourjois Smokey Stories Quad Eyeshadow Number 12, Grey Rose, is an attractive and good value product that my wife has been very pleased to use recently. For around eight pounds you get a nice palette with four smokey grey shades – the centre shade is a highly concentrated glitter which is ideal as a top coat. Included with the palette is useful applicator making this a self-contained and convenient product for your handbag or dressing table. Bourjois is a French cosmetics company with over 150 years of make-up expertise and a Parisian theatre heritage – it is now part of the American Coty group. This Bourjois eyeshadow is a good product from a large range of related items currently available from Amazon and is a brand well worth checking out further.

This is a lovely set of understated, almost natural colours which are designed to produce a 'smokey' colour. My wife used these and was very happy with the end result. The sections are divided well and allowed her to mix just the right colour between them to get a more natural effect but you can use more of one colour to produce slightly different shades and the sparkly silver in the middle for some extra shine. The brush applicator is small but still useful in getting the right amount evenly spread. The pink is actually much stronger than the pictures on the Amazon product page show, but not strong enough to be a bright pink, it's still a smokey pink colour. Overall, though, the shades are all perfect for a great understated effect.

This is a small palette of four colours, black, sparkly mid grey, peacock blue and a small silver highlighter. Shapes can be deceptive but it feels like there is far less of the light high lighter. This combination looks a bit too dramatic on older skin, a combo of maybe just 3 of the 4 colours. gives a subtler effectThe product comes with a very short applicator with foam on one end and short pile velvet on the other end, quite hard to hold it in the middle and not touch the applicator ends. The lid clips closed and has a small tab which needs to be pushed from under neath to get the lid open, it would be much better if there was also a tab on the bottom to push against, its a bit fiddly.

This is good quality eyeshadow which goes on well and importantly lasts. The colours are pretty and go on subtly enough to allow you to build it up to a strong vibrant look or blend it to be much more discreet.I like to use a brush rather than the applicator provided in the pack as this is a little small and the sponge tips are not as good at blending the colours.I have sensitive eyes and have to be careful with all eye make up, from mascara to eye shadow but I am happy to report that this has not caused me any problems at all ( it's normally the cheap ones which cause problems for me,)The packaging is good and strong , so more than up to the rough and tumble of an average make up bag too.

This palette is pretty good for the price. All the shades except for the charcoal have glitter in - especially the central pale colour so you can't really use that to highlight under your brow unless you do want the glitter. In fact the pale colour seems to have the most glitter. I love the blue and khaki shades as they do have glitter but blend really well together for a smokey effect. The blue is more of a navy despite what it looks like. Perhaps it will be brighter on pale skin but I don't know.I haven't needed to use the charcoal colour for that - I used it more as a liner on the top lid. I used my own eyeshadow brush because I find the little foam applicators fiddly to use.

These colours work really well together and I'm delighted with this palette. You could build the effect gradually to your own choosing and the container itself is a nice size to fit into a small make up bag. Personally, I never like using the small applicators that come with eye shadows, I would much rather use a longer handled eye make up brush which is what I've been doing here. The colours don't seem to stay on any longer than they do with most quality eye shadows but it is very easy to wash off with my usual face cleanser and I've never needed to use separate eye make up remover. A definite 5 stars from me and would I buy this product. Yes, I would.

This is a really pretty set of good neutral browns- and with plenty of shimmer and glitz. The middle square section is a light ivory - and is very shimmery and glittery- a great highlighter or eye opener for the eye lid. The two other beige/gold colours are lovely and have just the right amount of glittery particles within them. The apply well and seem quite densely pigmented and last well on the lid- although I do use eyelid primers as a matter of course. The dark brown was less shimmering - but still not matt- and was great for in the crease line to create shadow. Overall a very pretty set which wore well and would recommend.
