Had this trimmer for 6 years (the black one in the pictures - model e845) until recently the battery died. On replacing it I decided to give it a go with a Philips 5000 instead but after trying I regretted it, sent it back and got the Babyliss e848 (the white one in the pictures) which is very similar to the one listed here on Amazon. The motor:The Philips 5000 indeed has a more powerful motor than the Babyliss. However that not only makes the Philips much more noisy than the Babyliss, but it also makes it project stubble everywhere. You might shave faster, but you end up waking up your partner and spending the time cleaning the stubble from every little corner. The Babyliss is very quiet and stubble doesn't go everywhere. The comb:The build quality of the comb on the Babyliss is sub-standard and it's the most frustrating part about it. You will end up buying combs every 3 or 4 months because the teeth just break with normal use (check picture attached). I'm actually surprised Babyliss hasn't improved this over the years - and this is the reason I'm not giving 5 stars.Waterproof:The Babyliss is waterproof and that makes it so practical! The Philips 5000 is not so after shaving and ending up with the trimmer full of stubble all over it, you have to use the brush that comes with it to clean it up. Could this be more unpractical? With the Babyliss just put it under the tap and you are done! In theory the body of the Babyliss is not waterproof but only the head, however I always rinsed mine fully for 6 years and never had any issue (note: if you do it you might void the warranty, so proceed at your own risk).
