Last year I was about to order Glenmorangle Nectar d'Or Sauternes finish changed my mind and ordered their Port finish - least favourite of 7 different single malts received over Xmas. This year thought I would try again with the Nectar d'Or but saw this Sauternes finish from Arran at a much better price. Wow - I love it, easily my current favourite. Strong body at 50% with nice mouth feel and really lovely sweet taste (if you can ever accurately call single malt 'sweet' ) No harshness at all to my taste. Plus it's a bit different to say Deanston 12 or Bunnahabhain 12 which I also like very much. I would highly recommend trying it. Will definitely purchase again.

there should be a government warning label on this bottle , at 50% almost cask strength ,,,,don't be tempted to add a drop of spring water or heaven forbid ...ice cubes ........NOOOOOO , enjoy as intended straight from the bottle ,in a fine crystal glass ,with an open log fire crackling , the rain pouring down outside , a few ripe grapes complimented with savoury crackers and blue aged stilton then crack open the bottle pour a good dram & saviour the , lovely sweet , aroma....toffee apples , sweet pears , then the taste , a hint of sweet honeycomb , toffee , a nice warm finish ..............Enjoy

Arran whisky unfinished tastes a bit too much like raw spirit for my tastes, and the fact its unfiltered leaves an oily aftertaste (this is deliberate on the distillers part. I dislike it, but you might not).This is considerably better. The finish adds flavour and floral notes which are missing from their main line, and also significantly reduces the residual oils in the malt leaving a much more pleasant aftertaste. It is easily their best product.

I bought a bottle of this after doing a cask whiskey tasting, in fact my friend did too. Of the 5 different whiskeys this one jumped out to me. It smelled to me of honey, flowery and grapes, and had lots of different flavours on the tongue. To me it's a summer whiskey, the sort you'd sit outside side with drinking with good friends. If you're buying for a whiskey conersour you can't go wrong with this one.
