So I may be the only person seeking to use this product in the way that I am, and with hindsight I may have been better off with the 8BitDo G. Bros adapter for wired Wii and GameCube controllers. Nevertheless, this adapter does exactly what I want, offers greater functionality, and it works flawlessly. So I got my grubby gaming mitts on a Capcom Vs Tatsunoko arcade fightstick originally released in 2010 for Nintendo Wii. Despite being made by the now defunct MadCatz whose legacy will be as the peddlers of cheap third-party controllers your younger sibling is forced to use, it truly is a thing of beauty, and it has enough heft to it that accidental droppage will result in a crater where your foot used to be.It works brilliantly with the titular brawler on Wii, along with a handful of other games, including some on Wii U. Unfortunately, it's far from universally compatible with either the Wii or Wii U games library, which is disappointing. As it wasn't cheap, I really wanted to get the best out of it, and I particularly wanted to play Street Fighter, Metal Slug, and Pacman. As it happens I have some excellent versions of these titles on Nintendo Switch. So in steps this little adapter, and once I found the perfect controller combination, I was playing like I'm in my own arcade! There's no noticeable lag either, something which concerned me, but I didn't need to worry. I also successfully paired a PS4 controller for good measure as I was testing it out. It also worked brilliantly.A few things to note however, which I wished I'd known and couldn't find any information on online, is that there are some incompatibilities where the Wii remotes are concerned. I have a number of Wii remotes, but the first 3 I tried connected to the adapter without issue, but the inputs wouldn't register with games or the menu. These are newer controllers, fashioned after Mario characters. I have Mario, Bowser, and Toad and none of them would work (and I assume none of the others from the same series will either, but I can't be sure). I then tried my LoZ: Skyward Sword Wii remote, and this is what allowed me to play with the fightstick. What's odd is that all 4 are WiiMotionPlus remotes, but technically the first 3 were released for Wii U. I assumed they'd be identical, but it seems not.So in summation, this is a fantastic adapter which I can't recommend enough. I'm really impressed, and it's made my arcade investment well worth it.

Works fine with to connect my Xbox One S controller to my switch. I took out the batteries then put them back in to kinda reset the controller, and once I did that I could sync to the usb stick. I also made both the controller and the adapter had up-to-date firmware before trying to connect. Some things of note:- Because the Switch thinks the controller is plugged in via USB, you can only connect one controller to it at a time. Maybe if you got more than one, you could connect more than one controller, but I'm not sure.- I noticed a slight amount more input delay than with the joycons. Only a small difference, to the point I've questioned whether it's just in my head, but I figured it's worth mentioning.- The xbox controller has one too few buttons - the xbox logo is the home button, which makes sense, but the screenshot button is left out, which is unfortunate. I've heard with the Dualshock 4, the touchscreen acts as the screenshot button, but I don't have one to verify.- The only time I've seen the controller act strangely is when doing the joycon calibration in the settings - it doesn't seem to be able to complete the process, or it doesn't detect any joystick inputs (but only while I'm calibrating).- Rumble seems to work on the xbox controller, obviously not as good as the HD rumble on the joycons, but it comes through. The xbox controller has no motion controls, so I do have to get the joycons out occasionally. I've heard the Dualshock 4 has well implemented rumble and motion controls, but again, I can't verify.- The light in the adapter flashes if your switch is docked and not on, so I generally unplug it when I'm not using it.I'd recommend this is you have a compatible wireless controller that you would prefer using instead of buying a new one for the switch. If you don't, it's probably better to just buy a switch controller.

Bought this as a present for my sister who owns a nintendo switch. From the videos I have seen online this device is incredible. You might be thinking "that's expensive, for what's basically just a little usb device" but that's not the case, it might be a little USB device but you're actually paying for the code which makes it work.I was originally planning to buy my sister a controller for her switch but after looking at how much the controllers cost (even the alternatives) it did not seem worth going down that route. By using this adapter it will allow her to use any controller she wants which is nice because if the controllers get broken the adapter will still work with new ones.I'm sure she will be happy to use her ps3 controller with this, although it could have been better if there was a mini usb port on the adapter and a way to pair the controller without using a pc (although luckily this should only have to be done once so can be worked around).First impressions:Packaging a little plain, would have prefered it it was sealed. It also had some stickers on the box but luckily those came off easily. The adapter itself is pretty and feels nice.Instructions very light but QR code was provided with link to detailed guide.I briefly tested it by plugging it into my PC and updated the firmware. It arrived with v1.33 which is one of the newer firmwares (good).Little red led was flashing so I assume it works well, haven't tested it extensively as I don't want to install any software on my PC which might change my current setup, but I'm sure it works well and will make a great gift.

I’ve had RetroPie set up on a Raspberry Pi for over a year and laboured with some cheap PS2 imitation Bluetooth controllers. They really were poor and dulling the experience so I looked into what else I could use. There’re so many contrary reports as to what does and does not work but several people had said that the PS4 controller can be made to work with a Bluetooth adapter. As I have a couple of extra dual shocks for my PS4 I wanted to put it to the test. Sony actually made an official adapter that did just that, but they’re rare as hens teeth and command a huge price.I was losing hope of getting an economical solution and started looking at 8BitDo’s excellent controllers, however my Pi 2 still needed a Bluetooth adapter for them to connect and this is their own adapter. I began to read that it worked with the PS4 pad as well, so I took a calculated risk and bought the 8BitDo adapter as I’d need it anyway. It seemed to pair at first attempt with the Dual Shock, however the Pi wasn’t recognising it. I did a quick search on the internet and found a YouTube video on how to configure it. It simply needed me to go into RetroPie’s Options and then Bluetooth Connections to search for it. It paired at the second time of asking, and allowed me to configure the controller as I wanted. So, after a bit of legwork and a minor gamble I can happily confirm that 8BitDo’s Bluetooth adapter will allow you to connect a PS4 Dual Shock controller to RetroPie and play your emulators with one of the gaming world’s greatest ever game pads. I’m extremely pleased by this. Thank you 8BitDo.

I've had this for nearly 5 months now and it has never disappointed me once. Worked perfectly as intended with my Nintendo Switch paired to my DualShock 4 controller. Not only that, but that same pairing stays even if you plug the adapter to a PC or Mac! The way this adapter handles the DualShock 4 on PC is amazing. Perfect for controller gaming on PC for things such as emulation, and games like Rocket League. Much better than the default Bluetooth connection on Windows. The adapter looks clean, has an excellent range, ZERO lag in my experience. It truly feels like it was a thing developed by Nintendo. Highly recommend, not just for Switch but for your PC too.Things I hope to see in the future, but I won't knock down the stars because I knew this BEFORE I bought purchased the adapter so it would be unfair to give it 4 stars:1. A thinner version or a way to prevent the second USB on the Switch Dock not being blocked off by the width of this USB when connected. I can't also connect it to the back of the Dock due to it being too wide, making it hit the USB-C and HDMI cable.2. Being able to connect more than just one controller at the same time to the adapter. I'm not super bothered about this as I am with the first one but it would be super cool to see that.Super happy with my purchase! For the price, it's very well worth it compared to buying a wireless Wii U Pro or Switch Pro Controller if you already have a DualShock 4 controller lying around. Not to mention all the other controllers it supports like the Xbox One, Wii Remote and more.

This is such an amazing bit of kit, it truly boggles the mind! As a long time Xbox gamer I'd struggled to get used to the Joy-Cons, there's something about their compact design that makes the analogue stick travel in 'weird' ways and as a result it can be hard to make small precise movements. Apparently the pro controller resolves a lot of these issues, but also comes with its own potential issue of an unreliable D-Pad. The 8bitdo is perfect in that it saves buying another controller, and allows you to use something you're already familiar with. The reason I've only given it 4 stars is that out of the box mine required a firmware update to work with the xbox controller. There's no real way for the receiver to relay this information to you of course, but it was a bit frustrating that it didn't work immediately. Fortunately updating was a painless process and only took a few seconds, but be prepared that you'll need a PC or Mac on hand potentially to update these, otherwise you won't be able to use it with Xbox One S controllers.Once it's working though, wow! I'm enjoying the Switch so much more now, there are tasks on Mario that before were catching me up that i'm just breezing through with a better controller. I can't recommend this enough, just remember that you may need to update the firmware.

The adapter works great, and I am able to connect my PS4 controller wirelessly to my Switch. I highly recommend this. There are some not so positive things about using this that I thought people should be aware of:- Out of the box, the PS4 controller is not able to pair with the adapter that is connected to the Switch. After some research, I found out that the firmware on the adapter needs to be updated. Which can be found on their website, and needs to be done a PC. I wish 8Bitdo had mentioned this in the instructions, but they, unfortunately, didn't.- The other problem is that when the PS4 controller is connected to the Switch, the Switch thinks the controller is a wired Switch Pro Controller.Because of this, I can't seem to find out the battery level of my PS4 controller (since the Switch doesn't need to show a battery level for a wired controller). This is a pain, as my PS4 controller would randomly die without notifying me earlier.Apart from that, this product has been a life changer, or dare I say... a game changer :D

Product Version: 8Bitdo Wireless Bluetooth Adapter for Windows/Mac/Raspberry Pi (Nintendo Switch)Sold By: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.I bought this due to how expensive extra controllers are for the Switch but I was a bit unsure if it would work as advertised. Once delivered it took about 5 minutes to update the firmware and sync my Dualshock 4 to the Switch although I had to enable the 'Pro Controller Wired Communication' option in the settings menu (see screenshot) and then reboot the Switch in order for it to work. After being setup though I found it works perfectly with the addition of working rumble and motion / gyro controls which was an awesome surprise. The only thing missing is getting wireless audio via the 3.5mm jack on the Dualshock 4 although this might not be possible due to how the Switch works.I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to use a more comfortable controller while docked and doesn't want to fork out £55 on a Pro controller.

First i would like to say how much i wanted this product to test out. i was expecting big things from this product, and overall it delivered positives are it was easy to set up i could play nintendo switch with a controller which was very cool it came quick it was in nice condition one thing i would say that annoyed me is how it didn't say i needed a bluetooth controller so my normal xbox controller would not work so i had to buy a new one just to test this out.Negitives are the main one really is how the gameplay was a bit delayed which was something i didn't like soon as i have good internet another annoying thing is how you have to play it on a tv which i knew coming in to buying it but iwish you could just use it and just play with it normally but other then that i thought this product was really good would i recommend it to a friend yes as long as they had a controller that would work with it great product little issues other then that 4 star

The setup instructions weren't very clear, but once I figured it out I've had no problems connecting my spare DualShock 4. The obvious benefits are that you can use your preferred controller on your Nintendo Switch (many people have a preference for PS4 and XBox control pads) and is an ideal choice if you need a spare Switch controller but don't want to spend loads of money on the official Nintendo choices if you already have another games console. There are some drawbacks however. The adapter itself is bulky and blocks ports adjacent to the one it is currently occupying. Also it can only connect to one controller at a time, so if you were dreaming of using this to connect several controllers at a time, you'll be disappointed. With all that said you'll be hard pressed to find a cheaper and reliable alternative to a secondary control pad if you already own a compatible device.

Bought this adapter so that I could use my existing Xbox Elite Series 2 controller with the Nintendo switch as I would rather do that than buy yet another controller. When I got it the first thing I did was update the firmware which was very easy to do, plugged it into my laptop and got the software off the 8bitdo website and there was a nice wizard to click next on.Once the firmware was sorted I then plugged it into the switch dock and pressed the button on the side of the dongle and on the controller to pair it. At first it did not work and I was wondering what was going on?To get it to work I had to go into the switch settings and turn on 'wired communication for pro controller'once this checkbox was ticked the controller popped up in the arrange controllers window and it worked perfectly, now I can use my fancy xbox controller with my nintendo switch!

This little device lets you connect your PS4/PS5, Xbox, Switch or a wide variety of other Bluetooth controllers to your switch and a selection of other consoles or your PC.I picked this up for super cheap, about £16, to use my PS5 controller on my switch to play Monster Hunter Rise and it worked fantastically. I pretty much drained the battery on the PS5 controller the day I used it because it worked so well!Another benefit of this is being able to connect a controller you use often to the dongle and then swap it between consoles and PC, saving yourself the small annoyance of constantly syncing it to different devices. This is a really useful device and I 100% recommend it if you already have a good controller you enjoy using and want to use it on Switch or other consoles the controller normally doesn't work on.

Switch controllers are overly priced and I personally don't think they are comfortable or very good. If you are like me you already have a PS4 controller and don't want to spend more money on another controller.Syncing the PS4 controller is simple and I have been using it ever since when playing with the Switch docked. There have been a handful of times when it won't connect after the switch has been asleep, I've found either trying the sync again or restarting the switch fixes it.It is possible to use with a 360 controller, though this requires plugging the 8bit do into a computer and updating, I haven't tried this yet as I just use the PS4 controller. If you have a compatible controller and don't want to buy another joycon/pro controller, this is the best option, it's super cheap and just works.

Firstly if you haven't got a computer, you'll need one in order to update the firmware. At first the PC wouldn't recognize the device but I later found via YouTube out that you have to hold the sync button when first connecting it to a PC. Downloading and installing the software from 8bitdo's website was easy. After upgrading the firmware I then had to make setting changes to the switch in order to connect controllers, again no instructions so you've was my friend again.Once connected the experience has been great, lag free gaming with an Xbox One S controller on my Nintendo Switch. Never hangs up and provided a solid connection even at a good distance.4/5 - just get some instructions together8bitdo!

Absolutely brilliant. Lets you use your PS4 controllers on your Switch. Easy to pair and setup, the PS4 controllers have all the features that the Switch Pro controller has (minus the Amiibo of course)- Motion controls, vibration all works. You can use more than one adaptor however you will need a USB hub or USB extension cable as the dongle is too big to plug two in at once on the Switch. If you try to run two adaptors with one USB hub it works but there are controller problems. Plug your USB hub into the USB socket in the back of the Switch dock where the HDMI goes and plug another onto the side of the device. Then with two PS4 controllers and two joycons on their side you can play Mario Kart 4 player.
