Nice and well done construction that also do very well on display. Even the price is low and the design is simple it is not really a beginner machine. The is no steam reservoir etc. so all the steam and condensed water mixed with oil ends on the baseplate and the table (this is normal and not leaks as mentioned in other reviews. The steam has to come out in some way!). The only flaw is the plastic! top for the smokestack which will melt immediately if used. The top has no use and is optional and I will suggest just to throw it away (the machine anyway looks much better without the top mounted) .

These are a nice introduction to miniature steaming, these were brought in as a cheaper product by Wilesco, remember to use distilled water to save the long term life the water inspection ports are really small just remember that you need 50mls of water to get going oil all external parts using right grade of oil and away you go, these are nice stationary engines well made and at a good price and are a good introduction then move on to D10's a good alternative would be D2 but they use bees wax tea lights that are expensive.I don't understand people saying these are not beginers models you can watch a lot of YouTube videos which are good and my experience is they are good little engines .....

Bought as a present for my engineer boyfriend & went down an absolute treat; it is his first engine & is a great starter product. He had it working every time we had a visitor, he just loves it. Only complaint is the instructions are in German, so you might struggle if you don't have a bit of steam/engineering savvy already, or know a bit of German! Otherwise theres always google translate!

Excellent model Steam Engine, brilliant quality and would definatly recommened to people looking into model steam engines.
