I really like this ballhead. I mainly bought this ballhead because I bought the Vanguard Alta Pro 283CT tripod, and I like consistency. The pros and cons are as follows:Pros:- The panning mechanism allows for smooth panning.- The upright locking mechanism allows for rapid locking of the ballhead in the upright position, without needing to check the spirit levels. It is quick to use, although the spirit level shows that it may be off by a degree or so.- The ballhead moves smoothly.- There is no creeping of the ballhead, even with a heavy DSLR and lens.- All the moving parts can be locked securely.- There is a safety mechanism on the top plate, meaning your DSLR cannot fall off accidentally.- The ballhead looks stylish and is easy to use.Cons:- The panning action is smooth but slow. This allows for smooth panning across a small angle, but does not allow for fast turning (e.g. a cyclist crossing your path).- There is a lot of lubricant in the ballhead, making it smooth. This is audible (a slight squelching noise when moving the ballhead). Hopefully, this may disappear over time.- The top plate does not quickly clip in place. Instead, you need to unscrew the top knob, insert the plate, and tighten the knob again. This is less convenient than quicker mechanisms on ballheads of different brands.- The spirit levels are very slightly off (not in the centre of their metal brackets), meaning your leveling may be a degree or so off.- The instruction book is of poor quality (ambiguous pictures with few words).Summary:This is a brilliant ballhead that has a lot of useful functions. It can hold a heavy DSLR and lens, and is reasonably light. I would thoroughly recommend this ballhead, although there are probably many other ballheads of similar quality for a similar price out on the market. The upright locking mechanism (I believe) is unique to Vanguard BBH tripod heads, and this is a major selling point.

Its lightweight and versatile and can easily cope with my D750 + 70-200mm F/2.8 lens. I changed to this head from the Vanguard SBH-100 head. The only reason why I did that, was because this head is arca swiss compatible which is important for me because of the accessories I like to use (nodal slide etc). I bought the SBH-100 from Amazon, but realized I had an access compatibility issue too late to return it. So I wrote to Vanguard to see if they had accessories that fit the 39mm shoe of the SBH-100; They dont but they offered to exchange mine so Im impressed with the companies after sales service too.I like the leveling system, although initially it seemed a little flimsy, it has proven to be reliable.I have not experienced any creep or grip problems with the BBH-100 and I like the large control levers; It makes control in the dark very easy, and there is also a feature whereby you can reposition the main control lever without releasing the grip by pulling it out and repositioning it. The groove on the side makes a perfectly positioned portrait 90 degrees adjustment without thought IF the tripod is level in the first place, and this, combined with the levelling system makes for a very efficient studio head. Its so light its a great travel head too, while still able to support 22Ibs. I am happy to recommend this product and would buy it again!

I'm very impressed with this ball head. It supports my Nikon D7000 and heavy 105mm macro lens with no drooping at all. The movement in all directions is exceptionally smooth and the locking tab is easy to operate with no effort needed to lock into place. Highly recommend.
