An excellent piece of equipment, once you get used to the lack of levers from your old head and adapt to the more precise controls, just some practise required and you will be at home with it. I have the base plate attached to my camera permantly, this might not be every ones choice and does require a good tightening with the provided alan key, but the advantage is no slippage when the camera is on the head. I has a good quick release system, but if you prefer the slide on it has a safety pin release to prevent the camera sliding off when dismounting after use.

Brilliant Tripod head cheaper than the obvious choice Gitzo and amazing quality I use it non stop. Its been in freezing temps up the top of snowy mountains in NZ to warm warm tropics of the Pacific islands worked smooth in all conditions. Plus the thing is steady enough to use a 150-600mm zoom :)

Just arrived so I've not had a chance to test properly but this is a big, stable, heavy unit. The arcaswiss plate is very streamlined. This feels much more solid than the manfrotto it replaces

Very pleased with this ballhead which lives up to other reviews. I have not used it in the field but it seems very well engineered and holds my camera well using an area swiss plate.

Beautifully engineered bit of kit. Obviously heavy, but that came as no surprise. Adjustment is super-smooth and exudes confidence!

Excellent bit o kit for heavy duty work - only downer was that the instructions were in chinese. However, fairly intuitive to use

Great ball head easy to use would recommend just remember to use small silver screw to tighten ballhead
