This unit packs quite a heft, so needs a weighty tripod to balance out the combination. Works well enough and the weight inspires confidence when you have expensive kit mounted on it.The "tilt" is spring loaded, so with the long handle fitted, it cannot fold snugly between the legs for transport. Or rather it can be folded if you don't mind locking the spring in its stressed position.I suspect you can find an "as good" head for a lot less price if you have time to research before you buy, I didn't have time so went for this known make.

I use this for improving stills photography when using a 600mm prime lens. Even though it’s designed for videography it makes a great silky smooth flexi head when combined with a sturdy monopod
