Our spaniel badly cut it's paw on glass and needed multiple stitches. Due to the nature of the wound, this will take a couple of months to heal and there's no way a spaniel will take 'light' exercise. We had a lace up boot, but it wasn't waterproof (and it's not been a dry summer so far), it had a soft sole (not great for an area with lots of rocks along the path) and the dog kept chewing the laces and pulling it off (before ripping the bandages off and needing another trip to the vet!).This pair of boots has been brilliant:+ Comes as a pair so you can keep swapping to wash/dry the dirty boot.+ has good velcro strap that doesn't stick out so dog doesn't try to chew+ waterproof sole so can takeout in damp conditions without worrying+ solid sole with good grip so more protection for the pad+ dog seems to find it very comfortable and doesn't worry itThree negatives:- it's not completely waterproof so water can get through the ankle if it's really wet. We've got round that by wrapping a plastic bag round it for the really wet walks and everything's fine.- it can come off (next to impossible to avoid with a dog boot), but if you do the straps up tight and check them every now and then on a walk it shouldn't be a problem.- it's black, like our dog so difficult to see from a distance if it's still on. Worthwhile going for a different colour to the dog if you can. Might not look as good, but much easier to see and greater peace of mind.None of these justify losing a star, they're just watch outs.If you own a dog, there's always a risk of a paw injury and I can strongly recommend these boots. With the benefit of hindsight and at less than £10 a pair, I would suggest buying them now to have them available in case of emergency...

I have never had much faith in dog boots as they have ALWAYS come off on the first walk, never to be seen again. I've got a German pointer who is bonkers out walking and she slices her paws up on a regular basis. This week we are sporting a particularly nasty gash on one of her pads. In desperation I forked out more money on yet another type of boot to try and keep it clean and protect the cut. Most of the reviews focus on older dogs that can hardly walk which didn't fill me with confidence that they could cope and stay on with an active dog. The sizing guide was not brilliant, I wanted width, length and height of paw but that was nowhere to be found. I read the reviews and guessed at an L-XL.They arrived the next day and they were strapped on and seemed to fit? Who knows what fit means? The test was yet to come, 5 miles chasing rabbits and keeping up with me on the horse at flat out gallop, plus going through mud up to horses fetlocks. Well I was amazed, they stayed on?! I must have done them up too tight so stopped the blood to her foot or rubbed her paws raw....... I was anxious when I took them off. Slight ruffling of hair around one of her toes was the worst I could see. Clean paw, cut looked lovely and clean, paw was slightly damp but that was it. I am absolutely amazed. At last the problem of cuts and not being able to walk her for fear of infection and not healing properly, solved. I'm thrilled. I would not put these on to proactively protect her against cuts as I think they would rub. She has no dew claw but because you have to do them up tightly over this area I think it would rub. For a week to get the main healing process complete they are great. The only reason I am giving 4 star is the lack of sizing info.

I spent hours (HOURS) researching boots for dogs, because I have a 15 year old GSD who is struggling to pick up his back feet, they drag on the ground causing sores on the top of his paws, I was horrified when I saw that one paw was bleeding when we got home after a walk this week, so I looked for a solution to this sorry problem, putting my guilt to one side and being practical instead. There are a heap of dog boots out there, I narrowed them down to three that looked practical and well designed, and when it was well past bedtime I decided to plump for these, based on looking robust, price and ease of ordering, and I'm SO GLAD that I did! Not only do they protect the top of his feet, they give him traction too, he was able to plod off determinedly wherever he wanted to go in the park, suddenly our slow progress has gone up a gear and I have to adapt to his pace. The boots are sturdy, well made, good quality, they fit him well, not tight, and not baggy, they don't slip round, they were easy to put on once I'd sussed them out. Max (guess the GSD name) took to them immediately and did not mind at all. After our walk I checked his feet, they looked absolutely fine to me. The boots showed no signs of wear where he drags his feet, but if they do, I will break out the duct tape as suggested by other reviewers. I am so happy that I bought these boots for my old boy, for less than £20 he is getting his needs met and can go outside, that's giving him quality of life, and that's my goal.

Unlike another product I bought, plus prior boots sourced through vets, these worked really well and I wish I'd found these sooner for our elderly wheaten terrier.Briefly, the boots are well designed and constructed. They have a rigid rubbery plastic sole that also forms the boot structure, giving it rigidity and strength such that it doesn't twist when walking around indoors or out, nor when pressure is exerted sideways (our 17kg dog's rear paws started to slide apart horizontally on hard floor surfaces so recovering her grip / balance was crucial). As she was suffering from cognitive issues which diffused the messages to the rear paws, not only would the paws tend to be out of sync but also the knuckles occasionally drag along the ground causing them to bleed (quite hard to spot when happening unless looking constantly though of course easy to spot afterwards). These boots have a toecap plus extra grip on the front so this not only gave her continued traction when this happened - and allowed her to walk considerably better - but equally important, prevented her knuckles when dragged from bleeding. In turn this increased comfort and walk times. The boots stood up well to tarmac, puddles and mud (easy to wash and dried quickly on a radiator), though the paws did tend to heat up slightly after a couple of hours wearing time. That aside, they made a big difference to her mobility and comfort in the last few weeks of her life.

I spotted these after I had first tried some others that were so large my dog couldn't put her foot down. These fit her perfectly as she has very slim legs due to muscle wastage although sizes would indicate she should be a larger size. They are a nice style and look like little trainers! It didn't take her long to get used to them.I bought first pair a few weeks ago and already the soles are quite worn down. my dogs problem is she is not picking up her back feet properly everytime but is still able to walk unsupported (without doggy cart etc) so is still able to manage a 20-30min slow walk and pottering round the garden. They do come off her sometimes when she's been walking in long grass onbumpy ground but I suspect thats cos she is not picking her feet up properly and the ends are catching on raised ground then dropping off where ground dips etc. .. although I fasten the velcro as tight as it will go. I think small would be too small to actually fit her paws into.I've just got a second pair as I got a voucher so she has a spare pair but at the rate she wears the soles down I might be needing a pair every month anyway! ... but its better that than the bottom of her paws sore and bleeding all the time and her being unable to come on walks. She had worn a back nail down to its quick and it split leaving a trail of blood everywhere. The boots are better than her having to have her back feet in bandage the whole time!

Sceptical as I was before i bought it, I have to say that I'm impressed with this dog boot idea.We had to cover a pointer's rear paw that had been cut by glass, and although i couldn't use it early on as the vets bandage was too big, once the dog had chewed this off!!, we went with the boot and some small cushion plasters. She got used to it quickly, and enabled us to walk her for the first 6 days .day 7, Now the real test...can she run in it...being a pointer they are not short of a turn of speed, and so i let her off in one of the fields nearby, fuelled by 6 days of mundane walking and the sight of a rabbit nearby she took off like Usain bolt!.The boot did eventually come off once in over 30 mins of high speed action!but maybe as the second Velcro strap may have got snagged and pulled back (its rough ground). I did find it again as its open land, but if it had been woodland it would have been lost. But at £6 per boot its not a huge issue (the vet bill was enough)ProsLight, easy to fit, protects well, "its like a trainer for dogs"consfluorescent band may make it easier to see on the dog or the boot 100 metres awaybit more padding round the neck may be a help as you must get it as tight as possibletipsmake sure its tight and check regularwash afterwards and make sure the Velcro is clean of bits that make it tricky to adhere toobuy one as a spare!

The sizing is a little off on the chart so the first pair was 1 size too big for my dog's tiny feet, but the next size down was perfect. Make sure to buy boot liners to wear with them to prevent chafing! I bought the ruffwear boot liners which work perfectly if the shoe is the right size and done up tightly.I bought these for my partly disabled dog a couple of months ago to stop her cracking claws and scraping off the top of her feet in her wheelchair. They do a wonderful job, and in addition after she has been in her wheelchair she can walk for a short while around the house with these boots on, it does take time to get used to though and these are meant for outside walking so I don't recommend them for anything but occasional house use as they do interfere with her. They are pretty durable but I am buying shoe goo for our 2nd proper sized pair as she drags a little on one side, so I'm hoping it will lengthen the life at the front a little. If your boots slip off or twist around, try doing the straps up tighter, don't be afraid of this. If they still slip off you need a smaller size. Just don't forget the socks! These boots have helped change my little dogs life for the better, without them she cannot walk in her wheelchair .

Well after reading the reviews and knowing i WILL need a pair of these booties at some stage the mutts bound to cut his pad or something on the beach walk etc. Having these handy IF a situation crops up is very handy, if you have a dog that NEEDS constant exercise having a bandage or such on a foot is a bit of a hindrance. Having these will help to keep the exercise up without getting the dressing all dirty and wet.And what do you know he's had his dew claw removed and bandaged up, we cracked out a bootie and placed this on him, DO THESE UP TIGHT WITH THE BUCKLE VELCRO STRAP. and the 2ndary strap is just there to keep things held up, it's important you get a good tight grip with the buckle one thou,i have a Dalmatian and he runs n runs n runs, and the boot stays put! Also very handy for getting into the kayak or onto a boat, the slipper surfaces a dog would normally struggle on he's fine with his little grips on the bottom of the booties, VERY HANDY for round the side of swimming pools etc i would imagine, dog gets far better purchase on wet surface areas!

Bought for an aged staffy cross with spinal problems who drags one back foot about 50 % of the time causing damage to the top of his paw.Have tried various boot options with little success. At first glance didn’t think these would fair much better given that they don’t come very far up the leg at all. However , they are light, robust , unobtrusive and to my surprise have stayed on and stayed comfortable on soft and hard ground , over rough terrain, through deep mud, and now snow.I would recommend reinforcing the top of the boot with a bit of duct tape for dogs that drag their feet , as other reviewers have mentioned (We almost wore one through after a few miles on hard ground before I started doing this )Size wise his feet are 6cm long from the back of the main pad to the tip of his longest toe , and 4 1/2 to 5 cm wide at the widest point . A medium/large seems to fit him best. Though he has comfortably worn a large that was borrowed from a friend before these arrived.Happy dog. Happy owner.Definately well worth a try for dogs with similar problems.

We bought these for our German Shepherd who has degenerative myeopathy. She is starting to drag her back paws a bit so we wanted something to protect them. They looked quite sturdy so even though we thought we would have a battle on our hands getting her to wear them, we decided they were worth trying. We are so glad we did. She let us put them on her with very little fuss and it only took her a few minutes to get to grips with them. She was a bit wobbly at first but once we got going she didn't bother about them at all. The sole is fairly sturdy and the rest is more flexible. The two velcro straps need to be quite tight, I was a bit cautious at first and they did slip off a couple of times.Like another reviewer, I have also found that she even seems to be dragging slightly less with them on.There are a few slighty worn patches on the soles already after a week but even if we have to replace the boots every couple of months or so it will be well worth it to protect her paws and enable her to still have the walks she loves so much.

I have been buying these boots for my border collie for 2 yrs now & they have always worked well. This pair however were not so good the size was fine but on one boot the Velcro tapes were slightly further apart and have rubbed my dogs dew claw against her foot causing an injury. She has to wear boots for running with me when i cycle as she was tearing her pads up quite badly when we went out. she has done worn them for the last 2 yrs without a problem. The boots have saved us a lot of sore paws and she likes wearing them. I am hoping it was just a faulty boot but missed the deadline for returning them, so will have to buy another pair now. This hasn't put me off this product, but i would suggest to anyone buying them that they check the tapes are evenly spaced. Previous pairs have been great they have never come off and my dog takes about 6 mths to wear them out bearing in mind she wears them about 3 times a week most weeks so normally they are a good buy.hope this helps anyone looking for a sturdy all terrain boot for their dog.

My darling old dog is 15 years old and is starting to lose control of his back legs. As a result he drags the knuckles of his paws and it had got to the stage that we couldn't walk him any distance. My vet recommended trying boots or shoes for him as it changes the 'rolling point ' of his paw, making it less likely they will knuckle or drag. These boots have worked a treat and allowed us to walk him short walks without him scraping his paws. The boots are getting scraped and damaged obviously and as a result I will need to buy a new pair maybe every 4-6 weeks, but this is to be expected due the way they are being treated twice a day. He's a big dog and they are being dragged across concrete with every step - possibly not exactly what they were designed for! He is a large collie cross and I bought him size large. We have got some more miles to go with our boy thanks to these boots.

My elderly lurcher drags her back feet a little towards the end of a walk and her nails were becoming dangerously close to wearing right through to the quick. If that happened, I could foresee infection, bandaging, vet trips and a dog confined to the house. I bought these Walker Active boots and they are great. They give her support and a spring in her step. They are very easy for me to get on and off but they stay on her very well (although she doesn't run much so I don't know if they would totally stay on a much more active dog.) I pull the straps very tight and she walks about 5 miles per day in them without problems. They are washable which is a great because they do get wet and then they smell a bit.She doesn't mind them at all (but she's pretty easy-going) and the large size is a perfect fit for a medium-sized lurcher. Her feet are similar in size to a Labrador.

My cocker spaniel dog injured his back leg. It is on the mend but he is still dragging his foot a little. This has ground down his claws. I bought the trixie walker protective boots and they have really helped.Only problem was that he eventually wore through the vynil covering of the toes of the boots walking on hard ground and pavements. (they did last a few weeks and saved his claws)Now I know what size to get and how he gets on with them, I have bought the ACTIVE boots with the rubber sole and toecap. They look good and look comfortable, he walks well in them. We are still road testing them for dureability but they are looking good so far.Trixie walker protective vynil covered boots are great for covering an injury and keeping it clean.Get a larger size if they have bandaged injury. But if they are doing a lot of walking on hard ground also get the ACTIVE.

These really are a great design. I got them for my medium lurcher (large whippet size) as she has degenerative myopathy and was dragging her back feet and wearing claws and toes. They did the trick great and she even seems to be walking better as they make her more aware of them. Other people have been saying they don't stay on but this doesn't seem to be a problem, its possible to do up the velcro straps really well so they are impossible to fall off. The only slight criticism is they aren't very breathable so can get damp but what can you ask for the price? We only put them on her when she goes for a walk so can dry while she's home.I will definitely be getting more of these although she's done a few miles in them so far without any noticeable wear. Great buy, recommended. Just make sure you get the right size as you don't want to be squashing their feet in.
