Let's start this review with the dogs. We have a rescue (6 months old when we had her) Welsh Collie and she is the matriarch. Always pushes authority and loves a bark at anyone who knocks the door or passes the house. I have had dogs in the family for every year of my 49 years, which were 3 collies, 2 shepherds, 1 Great Dane an old English Sheepdog and mixed breed terrier. So I know how to train dogs and keep a tight rein. But our Welsh is the toughest and naughtiest by far. A huge part of me loves her for what she is and that she is such a challenge but when it comes to barking and having the last word, when we are working at home then it is an issue. If we drill it down really hard she does not like anything or anyone that is new or strange, so our regular postie now gets a low rumble growl because she knows him but he is still on our turf. The replacement postie gets one bark because she sees him less regular. And so on. She chooses who gets which level of telling off by familiarity. The other dogs in the mix, which are led by this call to arms are a cocker spaniel and a rescue whippet/lurcher cross both of which reside with my in-laws in an annexe. The collie, knows she can get them to kick off and enjoys this.As you can imagine it can at certain times of the day become noisy! Luckily, our neighbours are far enough away that they do not have to endure the noise and suffer the nuisance. So that's the household that I introduced the Petsafe Indoor Bark Control to. I didn't expect much. The blurb says that it can take up to 2 weeks for the dogs to learn what will happen...2 hours later and silence. Could it be coincidence? No, because one thing guaranteed to get the collie going is kicking a football around outside while she is inside and get give the ball a savaging. She barked once, the Petsafe went off as indicated by the red LED she cocked her and from that point forward just gave a low squeaky growl at the ball games, knowing that if she upped the volume to a bark the Petsafe would tell her off again. She also now knows where the noise is coming from and sniffs around it trying figure out how it works and what exactly it is.The bottom line is that this is huge and remarkable success! How it works and more about the devices:You get two units which are independent of each other so you could put one downstairs and upstairs etc. The units are powered by 2 x CR2032 each (supplied) and you also get some Velcro style tape which you can use to attach them to a wall or furniture if you wish ( the instructions recommend that they are at the same height as the dogs head). The units are surprisingly small and can fit in the palm of your hand ( see picture). When you see the size of them and how they work then you understand why they are not mains powered and don't need to be.There is nothing else to tell at this point other than for us they have been a huge and remarkable success.

I took a punt on this Bark controller , the reviews (as you can see) are all over the place , from hopeless to the most amazing thing on Amazon ..?!.This is my view on this product:We have a 4 year old male Cockapoo , for the last two years he’s developed a fanatical frenzied love of a small narrow corridor at the rear of our garden between two sheds , that leads out to a rear laneway .My belief is that a few times he’s witnessed cats and squirrels jumping between the roofs (over his head) ..I also think he can smell where Fox have been in the rear lane , all in all a combination of his favourite things (on his territory).I’ve tried everything to stop this break-neck rush from the back door ,hurtling down the garden and bouncing around barking in the passage way for 10-20 mins (day or night)...for him , myself and my neighbours something had to be done .So after trying lots of training strategies, even blocking off the corridor (much to my inconvenience) I decided on thisArrived ...stuck it on Low on gate...and That was that ...one bark ...nothing since !!!He now saunters out into the garden , walks around , dose what he has to do ...sniffs the air , then calmly walks back in when he’s had enough .Cycle broken ...first time ...no lapses (and it’s been 3 weeks )!Now I can’t promise this same device will work for every dog and in every situation and area .The area I’ve had problems with is a narrow alley (easy for this device to hear a bark and easy for it to direct and dominate that small area)another downside is even though it states it I really don’t think it’s weather proof ...hard rain on it and I think the water will run straight though it .(This alleyway is relatively sheltered)It’s also very light weight (flimsy ) and a strange shape , lots of curves ,inc the back with no real area to fix it to any surface, fence etc ...I ended up gluing it?Those things aside..for me it worked incredibly well and instantly .M dog doesn’t seem harmed or bothered by it ...and has simply forgotten about the alley way! It’s cheap enough to give it a shot ...good luck !

This twin pack of small bark control devices is great for anyone whose dog tends to back at the post, people who come to the door or even people who walk past in the street talking. In the box you get the two small devices, and they are pretty small compared to previous ones we've seen, 4 watch style batteries (2 for each device) and an instruction book. Well, you don't really need the instruction book, simply squeeze the bottom of the device to slide off the battery compartment, drop the batteries in negative side down and then pop back in before turning on via the switch on the side.Place it anywhere near where the dogs bark, preferably facing where they would normally be. Switch it on and then leave it.It will go off whenever they bark. Now the hardest thing was testing this. My dogs bark at all those things I previously listed but would they do it to test this device? Nope! Finally the postman arrived and I was able to see the results. We do have a previous device that still works, so I know my dogs do respond to the noise that's emitted, but not all devices are as good. Thankfully, these worked well and you get two in the box, so we've placed one on the patio for when they bark at cats climbing our glass veranda.

I find PetSafe a very reliable brand and have success with their products I must say, and this one has been effective too. This sort of device is very much dependent on your dog, all of which have different barks and to be honest, for some this may not work but in my experience for most, if you give it a chance [which can be anything up to a month's worth of waiting] they eventually have an effect. It has done with our small-medium sized dog anyway, whose crazed guard dog instincts means it barks for England if even the next door cat dares to sit on the fence at the bottom of the garden. It's ideal for home as you can forget about fitting a collar, and easy to set up.Getting two units makes this very good value as well in my opinion. Be patient with some dogs, stick in there with it if immediate results are not apparent, and I reckon eventually you'll see a result.

Our 2-year old Bichon Frise used to howl, bark and just go nuts whenever we left her in the house alone - typical separation anxiety symptomns. We tried everything; different food, different routine, different environment but to no avail. We also tried going down the route of a dog behaviour therapist, but again to no avail. When the device arrived, we placed it by the front door and tried to make her bark (to test). She barked a few times and it kicked in once after the third or fourth bark. When it did, she sat down and looked around. After that everything about her is much better. She's very relaxed whenever anyone comes to the house, she NEVER barks when we leave her although she groans but still no where near as bad as what she was doing, which means happier neighbours.Couldn't be happier. :-)

I’ve 2 labs and they bark if anyone passes the house or they hear a car door shut, but not now!! Not even an hour and both dogs have stopped barking! The younger lab won’t stay in the room we’re the device is if it’s turned on this makes me think some noise is being omitted even before they trigger it off with barking, also other loud noises trigger it off to. I wouldn’t recommend having it on all the time as I think it could distress them, but it does do the job and even after one day I can use it as a deterrent. So yes this does work and I would recommend it if you are having serious problems with your dog barking,if it’s just an odd bark then I wouldn’t use it as at the end of the day that’s what dogs do bark!

I was dubious in buying this product due to the mixed reviews and do believe that its effectiveness is dependent on your dogs bark, but for my two dogs (one with a high pitched, one with a low tone bark) it has worked wonders!!!The instant response was evident and both dogs barking has reduced dramatically already in just 5 days! For the money, if your dogs barking is an issue I would highly recommend trying this and giving it the recommended 2-3 weeks trial before deciding if it works, as association with the sound and barking can take this long!!The only down side, my cat hates it and runs a mile when it is set off!I have recommended this to 2 friends already......

I purchased these items approximately 6 weeks ago. I have 4 dogs at home all of which bark every time someone is anywhere near the property - even on the other side of the road or visiting a neighbours house. I placed just one in my lounge, the source of most of the bark outbreaks and within approximately 4 days the barking is down to an absolute minimum. They learnt quickly that their barking was setting off the Anti-Bark and it ceased in the main. They now only bark when someone is directly on our property - if they are unknown to them. For instance parcel delivery men etc. I highly recommend this product.

This is a clever device designed to train dogs to refrain from excessive barking.2 battery powered units are included and the manufacturer claims they have a range sensitivity of 8 metres. The microphone in the unit picks up a dog's bark and emits an ultrasonic frequency that most dogs should find unpleasant.A clever dog will learn quickly to associate barking with this annoyance and refrain from barking, less intelligent breeds may take longer or ignore it completely. The unit can be made to react automatically or can be manually triggered. This device has worked very well with our dogs so far.

Was not sure at first as a lot of reviews said it hadn't worked on small dogs with little barks/howls. Was desperate to stop our Springer Spaniel howling when we go out. Have tried all other options over the last 6 years to no avail. Tried this, and asked neighbour for feedback. He howled once then stopped and she didn't hear him for the rest of the time he was left. Only problem was that there is no on/off switch and we only wanted to use it when we went out. Battery hard to take in/out as well but other than that would highly recommend for low/deep pitch howling/barks.

Was worried about this as didn't want to upset our dog more (she had recently started barking at night- never been a problem before) but it worked perfectly- you could see her trying to work out what the sound was when it happened after her barking, but importantly for us it just completely distracted her and didn't seem to upset her at all. She barked once the first two nights and hasn't since then when it has been on. She's already so much better and we hope to be able to stop using it soon but still want it as a deterrent for now.

This has worked well for my two Dachshunds, though I read the information that came with it and spent some time using the manual option initially to get the dogs to associate the tone with their barking. It has worked and they do not bark continuously or loudly, though they will still bark one or two softer and lower pitched barks when someone comes to the door or there is an unexpected noise. Overall I am satisfied, and the Amazon price is about half of what I paid!

I have three dogs who tend to wind each other up should anyone call to the door, one barks which sets the others off and then it's like a competition to see who can shout the loudest and longest! I noticed a very definite reduction in noise when we have visitors and even when the pups are rolling and wrestling together, it doesn't get out of hand as much as it did before. Very happy with the purchase, wouldn't be without it. I also have one for outdoors.

I was a bit dubious about whether or not this would work on my dog but after giving it a couple of weeks trial I really think it does have an effect. He barked whenever people walk past the house but the device has really cut this down to a much lower moan. It's much easier on the ears and also seems to have had a calming effect on him. I guess it doesn't work on all dogs but I'm very happy with the result on mine.
