My rescue dog’s behaviour around some dogs and people while out walking has been getting worse since lockdown started last year, so I decided it was best to muzzle train him and then use one on walks. We’ve trialled 3 muzzles for the last 6 months; an Ancol basket muzzle (similar to the Baskerville but slightly cheaper), a Don Pare Greyhound muzzle (which looked like the best fit for his long thin nose), and then this one.The Baskerville muzzle seems to be the one that he finds most comfortable and is most happiest wearing it. His nose is a bit long for it, I have the strap around his neck a bit loose as tightening it to fit pushes his nose up against the end on the muzzle (and that’s without the extra anti-foraging bit). It’s also a little wide for his nose, but fits his big head fine. This muzzle and the Ancol muzzle are the hardest to get treats into, with the Don Pare Greyhound muzzle being the easiest by far due the different design. I did most of his clicker training while we trialled the greyhound muzzle, so now we only need to use treats when we see a dog that he really doesn’t like. With a little practise, we’ve mastered getting treats through the Baskerville muzzle efficiently without dropping them on the floor. I’ve also removed the small triangles in the muzzle that hold the anti-foraging bit in place as they got in the way whilst trying to give treats, and his nose is too long for us to ever use it anyway.I’d recommend going for this muzzle over others, but the Ancol muzzle is still a good slightly cheaper alternative.I would recommend looking at the Don Pare Greyhound muzzles if you own a sight hound or a dog with a long thin nose similar to a sight hounds, though they can be a little tight around the head if your dog’s head is wide, and my dog wasn’t really keen on that.

We have a rescue beagle, and while I hate using that to preface this like it's some sort of excuse, I do it more to explain that in the first 11 months of her life, before she joined us, she clearly had little to no training or socialisation. The previous owners ditched her when she stopped being a cute puppy, and we wound up with a dog who has serious issues. We're going to training, but it seems the behaviour which requires the muzzle is going to take a little longer than hoped to remedy.90% of the time, my dog is fine. She trots along the pavement as good as gold, but without warning she will scoff something dropped on the pavement, or will bark/growl at people who have done nothing to her. After a week where she'd first tried to bite an innocent stranger, and then had to be rushed to the vet after scoffing pavement rubbish, I decided enough was enough.Size 6 muzzle is the perfect fit for her. She's a larger beagle, so a smaller beagle would probably want to try a size 5. She hated it at first, and tried to pull it off, but after a few attempts, we found a happy medium of comfort and security of the fastening. It's a simple click fastening buckle, with an easily adjustable nylon "belt" which stayed in place behind her ears and resisted her attempts nicely. I took out the extra "door" by her nose, which seemed to make her a bit happier and give her an extra centimetre or so.She still sniffs at pavement rubbish, and has attempted to stuff her nose right into various undesirable things, but thankfully, the muzzle has stopped anything from getting into her system. If it gets mucky, we chuck it into the washing machine and clean it off.Does she love it? Probably not, but it makes walking a lot less stressful knowing that she's safe, I'm safe and other pedestrians are safe.

I bought this for my 14yr old labrador who has recently developed a scavenging habit. The product is very well constructed, is easy to clip on behind the ears and includes a soft leather lining strap which fits across the dog's muzzle . I was sceptical at first but followed instructions to make the wearing a game - one second on - off- treat-repeat! Lots of positive praise resulted in my dog gradually wearing it from 5-20 mins without protest! The whole point was to allow him to mooch around, sniffing but not eating 'interesting' items and has been a complete success. I imagine how you introduce your dog to the muzzle is vital but the product itself needs to be reliable and this certainly does the job.It is also easy to clean after muddy walks although take care to remove any mud that may get stuck whilst out walking as this may block the nostril area. There is enough space for the dog to bark as well so all in all proves that it is possible to teach an old dog new tricks! Dog walks do take longer as I feel complelled to stop and tell other dog walkers that he is not vicious but wearing the muzzle to prevent scavenging- this in turn enables other curious dogs to inspect and all has been well in this regard too. Thoroughly recommend!

First time ive ever put a muzzle on a dog. the reason i have to muzzle him is he eats lots of bad things when i walk him. hes been suffering with all kinds of digestive issues up until now. last year he nearly died after eating a forgien object. so i had no choice. we didnt want to risk his life or another massive vets bill. now he doesnt like the muzzle but accepts it. when he smells something in the grass he wants to eat he paws at it. first time he got it loose as my springer is small for his breed and the muzzle is alittle big for him. However once on its tightest setting he can run with it on. He can't pull it off but he can drink and swim. so not too restricting for him.only playing ball has to be controlled now. So the muzzle does a good job. Other dog walkers avoid us thinking he's aggressive but I really don't care about that and nor does he so it appears. He just likes to run and eat. If I need to buy another I might buy a slightly smaller size but this is a robust unit that has been pawed at dragged in mud and still looks good. no more sick dog so saving me money on medication and vets. RESULT!

My youngest dog is a sweetie at home but she goes for other dogs when I'm walking her as she is very protective of me. As a responsible owner I knew she needed a muzzle and after some research I bought her this one. Unfortunately it only comes in one colour (a beige shade) so it shows up on her black coat quite prominently, but that's the only disadvantage I can think of! It is so easy to put on, I simply slide it on over her nose and mouth and clip it into place round her head (it fastens like a collar does). It stays on securely and it is very easy to adjust. It sits just under her eyes but never irritates her eyes or anything and she is used to it now and is happy for me to put it on.She's a digger and often sticks her nose in mud etc even when she's wearing this but luckily its easy to clean. It does get bunged up with dirt etc so its important to give it a quick clean when she's wearing it so she can breathe properly. I find a bit of tissue does the job and I wash it once we get home. I've had the muzzle for 8 months now and she wears it daily, it's still in fab condition!

I bought this muzzle (size 4) for my aunts rescued Jack Russell, who is a nightmare on walks and when people visit as she doesn't like other dogs or strangers. She also scavenges and sniffs a lot which doesn't help her delicate stomach. This muzzle has a double barrier at the front which prevents scavenging and allows enough room to pant. The muzzle arrived the next day with next day delivery added which was really useful as I only have one week to get her muzzle trained whilst my family are on holiday, so I didn't want to waste any time. Size 4 is a perfect fit. I previously tried using a fabric one which she hated, so she's a little cautious, but following recommendations to put food in the muzzle and only put it on very briefly and in stages seems to be working. She's more receptive to the Baskerville Ultra muzzle as it's less confined and sounds like a lead which she associates with going out for a walk. It will be such a relief to be able to take her out without worrying about her biting. Now we just need something to stop her from barking at foxes and fireworks!

I have a cocker spaniel who likes to think she is the boss sometimes when it comes to towel drying her, She is really soft and as daft as a brush but does not like being towel dried, she goes off her head, to the point of growling. We weren't letting her rule the roost and returning home from a walk soaking to go and lie on my nice light green rug, so the muzzle I purchased and what a result. I put the muzzle on her and she stands still whilst I dry her and not a sound. She's like a different dog, so good. I don't need to use it for any other purpose as like I said she's a great dog. I have read other reviews whereby people use them as their dog scrounge for food whilst out on a walk,my does too but a fast walking pace and short lead does the trick for me, I personally would never muzzle her whilst out walking as she has been attacked three times now by a German Shepherd, an Husky and large Staffy, all whom were off lead. Perhaps these owners should buy one for their dogs!

Got this to stop our Airedale dog licking chronic sore areas around his tail & rump. Being a large dog it seems to works better for him than the clumsy Elizabethan cone collars which make him career about bashing into things...especially our legs, although he's very tolerant of wearing one! It's also better than the Buster style inflatable collars which we have tried, which although I'm sure are effective for small short bodied dog breeds, do not work at all on long necked long bodied bendy dogs like Airedales,he's so flexible that wearing it made no difference whatsoever to his ease in reaching those sore licky places! Hey presto this muzzle is the perfect solution for his particular problem.Make sure to remove it regularly to allow plenty of drinks. The main disadvantage is that he just hasn't worked out why he can't pick up his beloved tennis ball for a good chew whilst wearing it....mustn't really laugh but he was hilarious to watch nose butting it round the garden!

My dog seems to have a small head and can shake out of this muzzle easily. I attached it to a chest harness and although this makes him look like Hannibal Lecther the combination works well.I found one doggie treat in the muzzle was all it took to get him used to it. He now equates muzzle with freedom so doesn't mind wearing it in the cool mornings and evenings.I gave it 4 stars because it is durable (only one slight crack in plastic so far [after dog fight]) and easily cleaned. The plastic catch and nylon strap are still in good condition. Now 4 months later the muzzle is broken completely BUT this is due to my dog getting in various scrapes and fights. These muzzles are much better than the canvas ones available locally and I have ordered and received two more. For a "normal dog" they are perfect and washable too, recommended.

Bought this as a replacement for a muzzle that had a broken strap. The size eight fits my cross-breed who has a face very much the same size and shape as a German Shephard. He has been unable to pull it off, and he has tried many times! Although he is not as persistant as some other dogs may be as he is mostly used to wearing muzzles by now.He wears it because he can become dog aggressive, for an unknown reason as he is a rescue dog. There have been dogs well within biting range (thanks to other owners who can clearly see his muzzle and that we have sat him down to keep better control, however will still allow their dogs to come right over to sniff him)since wearing this muzzle and it has stayed secure and given him no way whatsoever to get his teeth on another dog.So more than happy with this one. Would buy again.

I got this for my GSD who is currently going through training and rather than risk any incident felt it better to be safe. She took to it without any problems and will keep it on for 20 minutes or so before she starts to want to take it off. Its large enough for her to drink as well - She is a 36kg (at 1year old) GSD and the size 9 is the right fit for her. A number of other muzzles I tried are too short in the nose where as this is perfect for dogs with longer noses. Her training is going well as with this muzzle on her, I'm more relaxed and calm which inturn de-escalates her stress levels so a good all round solution. I've uploaded a picture of one gsd in the size 7 who has a smaller muzzle and my other gsd with the size 9.the sable is the size 9. Both dogs are the same size otherwise - just different head sizes.

I got this muzzle for my dog after he wore one at the vet's. I muzzle him when he is in a public place because hes not completely reliable with behaviour if he gets stressed. I include two pics to show the type of dog for the size 6 which is a perfect fit for him. Goes on very easily. I would pay a lot more for a better muzzle because his comfort is very important to me, but havent found one that is better.I introduced him to the muzzle my laying it on the table and putting treats in for a few days then I put it on him for a minute or two for a couple of days. After that he was fine. He can still do all of his scent gathering very well.He doesn't find it easy to drink water with it on but that doesn't bother me because he wouldnt have water at the times he wears it.

We live in the coutryside with two five year old Golden Retrievers. When out walking in the fields, the dogs sometimes snack on sheep muck,(they prefere it mature!), and any other rotting animal remains they find, occasionally it makes them sick. After a bout of sickness we decided to try muzzles to see what they would be like without this suplementary diet.We did our homework to research which muzzles would still allow them to pant and drink, and Baskerville looked the best option. The muzzles work very well, the dogs quickly got used to them and they do not try to take them off. The dogs run about just as much as before and are healthier and probably sweeter smelling. The only small disadvantage is that the muzzles need washing after each wearing.

This is perfect for my 2 year old cocker spaniel who can sometimes get a bit big for his boots....he wears this all time when he’s off the lead now and it hasent come off once, he’s unfortunately been in a few fights since. It has actually made him more submissive so he doesn’t go to attack straight away but says hello first and then if the other dog is grumpy he will sometimes react. It’s very hardy apart from the little leather strap that stops the plastic rubbing on his nose but that can easily be fixed with super glue just wet the leather and re mold into shape and leave on the radiator to dry. It also helps stopping him eating things he’s not supposed to like golf balls, dead birds, live mice... you know the usual for a dog.

It took us a while to find the right size and right sort of muzzle for our rescue dog who unfortunately acts as if he wants to bite any dog he comes across. We only use this when we walk him. I tried a few others but they didn't fit as although he is mostly GSD he has a shorter nose, it seems, and a couple of the others almost covered his eyes. This one is fine, it's easy to put on, he can breathe, pang and bark perfectly happily with it on.I can't fault this muzzle, I just feel sorry that we have to use it. Baskerville muzzles seem good quality and comfortable - I saw others where the dog couldn't open their mouths properly. It is important to measure the dog's face accurately as the breed type reference is very approximate.
