I think the main selling point of this Bark Controlling device is discretion. Hung in the garden, it doesn't look like a bark controller and therefore isn't likely to cause any offence to neighbours who are seemingly oblivious of the annoyance their beloved pooch causes to those who have no choice but to listen to it.Hung on a stake in the garden, it looks more like a bird house, particularly if a string of peanuts are hung adjacent and it doesn't worry birds in the slightest - so top marks go to the designers for producing such an innocuous product. But, does it work...?Set up is simple: insert a 9v battery (not supplied - disappointingly for a relatively expensive product) then set the clock. There are two timers which can be set to switch the unit on and off twice daily: I set ours to see what happened during the regular 7am canine morning chorus then set it to switch off at 9am when the neighbours leave for work and pooch is locked indoors. I used the second timer for their return home until pooch is locked indoors again for the night. Then came the wait to see what happened at twilight barking time.As regular as clockwork, pooch was let out to bark in the garden but rather than slamming the windows shut, I discreetly watched and listened. The barking started, but then it stopped after about 5 barks. The same happened again a few minutes later - about 5- barks then silence. This repeated a few times and then silence. The dog didn't look miserable or uncomfortable, confused maybe but nothing more. The following morning he was let out again. There were a few happy playful barks, just one at a time which I don't think the bark controller responded too, but these are far easier to live with than the tedious wuff... wuff.... wuff.... wuff... which always seems to never end and can become quite grating. When the owner went indoors then the barking starting, that annoying, grating repetitive bark, but then it stopped and pooch looked around again in possible confusion. This was followed by a few more barks, then silence.Over the course of two weeks, the annoying barking has greatly reduced. The playful barking with his owner persists but this is short-term and a 'happy' bark and far less annoying to neighbours than the frustrated bark which I'm sure all potential purchasers of this bark controller will identify with all too readily. It's still early days but, so far over my 2-week daily trial, the signs are good and I am pleased with the unit. I've used a few bark repellers in the past but these have always been the ultrasonic type which have to be aimed directly at the dog. This seems to work purely on sound alone and responds to barking by emitting an ultrasonic sound out of the range of normal human hearing. I can't be certain what effect it has on other animals; I have rabbits who as prey animals, are already stressed by dog barking so become tense when the barking starts but once it stops and while the ultrasonic sound is emitted, they look more relaxed. .This bark controller isn't just for use at home but can also accompany you on holiday, especially to campsites where some owners leave their pooches to bark in 'pup tents' and can also be taken on other outings where nuisance and aggressive barking dogs can ruin the peace and quiet.I will continue to use this and will update the review with any further observations but, in the meantime, I am impressed at how well it appears to have performed. The local ‘wuffers’ might not agree though....

A few weeks ago, our next door neighbour got a puppy which won't stop barking! My two dogs feel the need to keep barking in the evenings (typically between 5pm-6pm when the puppy is let out to do its business) When you're used to a quiet house, then suddenly barking starts it can be hard to handle. With this PetSafe bark controller, it comes as an attractive little hut which can be hung or placed in your garden. I really like the look of it and it feels very secure and weather proof. The controller comes with an instruction boklet that goes through exactly how to use it. You will need 1 9V battery to get your controller ready for use.Once i was clued up on how to use it, i slowly adjusted my dogs to it.I set it for a few mins every other day then slowly introduced it as i was worried it would make them scared. Once i done this for a week, i then introduced it everyday when the barks occurred the most. I am pleased to report it works like a charm! Not only has it stopped my dogs barking, but it has stopped the puppy next door which is really good! I haven't noticed my dogs acting any differently and it doesn't harm them in any way so thats all that matters.Disclaimer: I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

Very dubious about buying a product like this as bad and good reviews but read what people have said and tips and tricks it all helps, the Product is small and compact looks like a little bird house I have it sitting on garden light hook just in front of the fence on the lowest range setting,I've not tested the unit to see if waterproof as only received it this Thursday.we have 2 border collies, youngest 3 1/2 years old who has become a Barker upsetting neighbors which is the last thing I want so purchased this product after reading reviews and Google searches on ratings etc and honestly it's brilliant the noise admitted stops her right away but she runs and hides but it does take a week totwo for dogs to associate barking with noise so she should get better in time ,down side does not seem to work on my 11 year old male collie or 6 mth old puppy but puppy doesn't really bark anyway lol & too many other exciting things to do lol but the other dogs in houses either side of us have seemed to go quiter also ? I wouldn't pay full price some at £80 I got this reconditioned from Amazon at £33 ish only down side no instructions but you can easily download them or read online direct from pet safe with no issues . Well worth trying this product recommend ? hopefully neighbors are happier

Oh Emm geee (over the top but hey its that good) this is an amazing product.let me set the sceneNext door neighbours three dogs who live out all year round( personally.... what's the point of having PETS if you don't have them inside... afterall they are pets aren't they? working dogs different issue perhaps ! Rant overSo, mad barking dogs goaded by town foxes who cackle. from dusk and ALL NIGHT end result, one very frazzled me...being a pet dog lover ( see aforementioned rant) having managed to get neighbours to put doggies to bed at 10 pm or later ( again depending on whether errand son is in/ high/ drunk/ up to and including not at all = "I forgot".I didn't want to create dispute so purchased Petsafe outdoor Bark Control, which works like a dream. They tried initially to outbark it but now skulk and throw begrudging looks at it and are reduced to minor bark fests which last mostly a few minutes before they ralent..... It works over an amazingly large radius but is definitely effective when clear unobstructed and relatively low level to dog( mins about 1 m high) but think pinning to garden fence with strategically placed cut holes......Thank you from myself and my neighbourhood for silencing not only the dogs but the foxes too... added bonus!

So I saw a lot of bad reviews, but then I also saw a lot of people being creative and mindful of when, where and how it works best. Here's what I found:Preface: highly pitched barking yappy little dogs, this product isn't for them, as it doesn't trigger the deterrent. Perfect for me as the dog bark is very low.Tips- turn up full whack-stick it in bucket to amplify the deterrent, and it turns it into an ultra sonic dog cannon (saw that in a review)-aim it at the offending dog(s) and as close to where they bark as poss (less obstructions the better). This will trigger it every time-turn it off when you're out or when they sleep (this thing eats through 9volts)-no, I said turn it off?!even if you have a year supply of batteries, dogs can desensitise. Make them cannon blasts count when they matter most. (Pew pew pew!)-don't use crappy batteries, use high quality ones (I've learnt that with every battery powered product ever)Message to people that didn't read peoples review tips: stop moaning, start being creative.PEACE!Bark bark - Pew pew - Yelp

I'm not one for writing product reviews but this has been one of the best purchases I've made in years. Our neighbours devil dog has driven us to the brink of insanity over the past few years....and when one dog starts barking at night it usually sets off all of the neighbourhood mutts (think of a less cute version of the Twilight bark in 101 Dalmatians!). I've repeatedly asked the owners to shut it up, been through the rigmarole of complaining to the council etc etc. When I started my maternity leave and realised Satan (or whatever it's name is) will now be waking up my baby at all hours, I started to research these devices.Anyway to cut a long story short...it is fantastic. It took a couple of weeks to work properly and now we rarely hear the neighbourhood dogs barking and if we do it's usually because the battery has died!I have recommended it to friends who have also been surprised at how good it is.Now if I can stop the neighbourhood cats crapping on my lawn I will be a very happy bunny!Go and buy it!

History. Our dog isn’t a “barky” dog, but she does bark at anyone approaching the front door and our neighbours when they open their back door. Our neighbours don’t like it (or dogs) but we don’t want to put a collar on as it’s not an all day every day problem. This seemed like a gentle approach to solving the barking that does happen. The reviews were mixed but I thought I’d give it a go!Day one. Barked at the back door being opened but stopped and looked confused towards the box. Barked again twice more but didn’t run over to the corner going bonkers like normal. Then there was a couple of little gruffs before coming in and settling on her bed next to me.I would normally have had to call/coax/offer treats and shut our bifolds. Not today! So far so very good! I will update if anything changes. It might not repair our neighbourly relationship but at least we can say we have tried!

There is a dog two gardens away who has been making everyone's life hell as his owners throw him out into the garden and he just barks and barks. Spoken to the owners and they do not want him in the house whilst they are at work. When we first turned this on it seemed to annoy him and if anything he was even noisier. However every day he has become quieter. I think it is working. The device is programmable for different times of the day which also saves on battery life. You can see when it is working as it flashes periodically.Oh and we asked the four year old if she could hear it and the answer was no.It will be interesting to see if the effect wears off. We hope not.It was disappointing that this did not come with a battery.A 9 volt is not something I normally have around the house.

I have two dogs and one of them used to bark late at night so we decided to buy this product to overcome the problem. The detterent worked very well on the barking dog but it had absolutely no effect on the second one. We are lucky that the barking dog is dettered. Our problem is partly solved. The second dog barks in day time but there is no way to detter it as the gadget does not seem to be working on him. Neverthless we are happy with the result as we can sleep without being awakened by the dog's barking at night. We are using no bark collar on the second dog but we are not happy with it because the dog finds a way to push it a side so when he barks, it has no effect on him.

One of the best things I've ever bought! The dog (a retriever) was barking for hours and was driving me crazy. I installed a chargeable 9 V battery (lasts for about 1.5-2 weeks), and started straight from the highest level. The effect was instantaneous! After a few days I decreased the level to LOW, and it was still working! Even a few smaller dogs from a more distant neighbour seem to have lost their eagerness to bark. After about 3-4 weeks of training the retriever stopped barking, except for that "nasty" postman, but even this provoked barking is now well controlled. I cannot praise more this product!

Was slightly worried it wouldn't work, given some of the reviews. But its worked fine for me on my neighbours dog that's been barking none stop from 11pm till 2.30am every day for a year! Going through the council only got me so far, and I wish ild just got this item in the first place.Be aware the manual does say it could take up to two weeks to correct the dogs behaviour, though my neighbours dog has shut up in a week! Fantastic! I can finaly get some sleep at night!I would recommend this item to everyone, well worth the money!

Although this Petsafe Deluxe Outdoor Bark Control has not completely eliminated barking it has reduced it considerably. It does not seem as effective if a dog further down the road barks which then causes mine to bark. The most noticeable is late evening when barking is reduced to near zero. The unit itself seems quite weather proof having survived some torrential rain over the last few weeks. The one down side for me is battery life. I have only managed 22 days from a new Duracell with the timer set for 6 hours per day.

Ethically I'm not sure about this but it does work.We have a young Cocker Spaniel Bitch who's squealing was becoming so excessive and ear splitting we had to do something. It wasn't barking but squealing when excited and EVERYTHING excited her. So we put this out and after a couple of days it certainly reduced her Squeals and behaviour. We don't use it all the time as it's just her way of showing she's excited but it really was getting to much. Anyway this seems to have done the trick.

Wonderful, I just moved to a new home and sometimes need to leave the dog out in the garden with his doggy kennel when at work, he was barking when I left so felt it would annoy the neighbours bought this to stop him from barking and it works wonders we set up a camera so we could see what he was up to, and this did its job wonderfully. stopped him when he started barking. Now he happly lays in his house or on the grass without barking looks quite peaceful too
