This is a very easy device to setup. Basically plug and play. This device connects to another power line device through your homes electrical cabling, allowing a wireless internet signal to be sent out in those hard to reach areas of your house. All you need to do is have a power line adapter plugged in and connected to your router and then plug this Wifi extender in another socket in the part of the house you want wifi. Switch them on and they should connect to each other, and away you go. Wifi upstairs! It comes with a password you enter. Basically like joining another wifi hotspot, which I believe you can change by going into its settings, and then your device should automatically join to it when in range.Simple.It doesn't matter if it's on a different floor because your home cabling should all join together through your fuse box.It really is that simple. Our house now has fantastic wireless signal throughout the house. Not had any problems with this. It's speed is great. (All depending on your broadband speed coming into your house) I've watched Videos, HD Videos, played games, downloaded movies and multiple files. We've had multiple people on it at one time and doesn't seem to effect the speed. It does have an Ethernet port on it however this isn't a gigabit port so it's not the fastest Ethernet port you can get but I've never used it so I can't comment on its performance.Really can't complain about this device. Easy setup. Does what you want and no hassle.Recommended.

Hi All,I wanted to post somewhere on the Web something that had puzzled me for a while and I have finally got round to testing it out fro myself and can confirm my findings here, hopefully someone else will find it useful in future. So, I had 2 x TP-LINK AV-600s and they were OK. However my son has got more into online gaming and was constantly complaining about his speed and ping. He was getting about 20mbps down, 4mbps up and 40 ping. He'd managed with it for a while, it was kinda OK, but he was complaining that people with faster connections and lower pings were causing him to lose a lot more than he should so I said I would see what i could do to help.Upgrading to 1200 seemed the only real way to improve,I tried everything else already, but I wondered if changing only the sender would increase the speed without replacing the receiver. Do you know what, it absolutely did.So now hes getting 40 mbps down, 6 mbps up and only 20 ping, so everything's approximately double what it was!I fully appreciate that I could possibly get faster speed with two, but actually I doubt I would, I think the speed is ultimately limited by the wiring you have and there is nothing practical I can do to change that.Pleased with my purchase, got the wanted result and cost half the price of buying a new kit with 2 in it!

I bought a pair of TRENDnet TPL-406E devices because Wifi reception is poor in my room. I often had a slow and unreliable Internet connection. My computer is in the opposite corner of the house to the router and there are at least 8 other competing wireless networks in the surrounding area causing interference.Using a pair of these TPL-406E devices, I have one plugged in by my computer in my bedroom and the other plugged in by the Internet router. I've had these for several weeks now and they work flawlessly. My Internet connection is now just as good as if I moved my computer into the lounge and plugged it in directly to the router via Ethernet. These devices were very easy to set up,I literally just plugged them in and they started working. With hindsight, I wish I'd bought the model which includes the Wifi access point. This would provide a decent Internet connection to my phone, laptop and iPad when I use them in my bedroom.I bought the pair of these for £22, which I consider to be an absolute bargain.UPDATE 22/09/2016: These adaptors developed a problem after a few months. My PC loses network connectivity at least once per day. I have to unplug the adaptor and plug it in again, problem solved. It's a minor inconvenience, not great if you're playing poker online!

Bought these for use with my PS4. My internet speed is shockingly poor (1.5Mbps) and combining this with the poor performance from my WIFI meant that playing online with the PS4 was a terrible experience, lots of lag making the thing generally unplayable. Tried using a wired connection and this eliminated the problem of poor performance but meant wires criss-crossing the floor. Thought id give these a try. Bloody brilliant!!! Simple to use, plug in one into the router, and the other into the playsation. Boom! Perfect connection. No lag (im still crap at the games though - guess these arent magic after all). No tricky set up, literally 30 seconds and all working well.I installed the software to take control of the network rather than relying on the auto-sync option to protect the network. Again, piece of cake. I think ill be buying some more of these to extend the network (got two PS3's that could do with the TRENDnet treatment too). I cant recommend these highly enough. The one downside is that there is no through-put for a mains plug which some more costly models have, so you need to have a spare power outlet near the router and another near the device being connected. The instructions say not to use on extension cables and power-gangs. Works fine on mine though.

I've been running these for about a year now to support a connection to a home office outside the house which is on a separate ring main with full separate fuse box. On the whole these have worked well, with almost continuous use (minimally a network file server is always on) although they do run hotter than I would like. I occasionally have to reset them when they seem to lose connection (switch off, reconnect within a couple of seconds), but since the connection quality is permanently at the low end, due to the convoluted route through the power lines, I'm willing to accept this. They manage to support a network bandwidth of about 20Mbps when a direct connect to the hub shows my broadband running at around 35Mbps.They run the Qualcomm QCA-7450 chipset. Be aware that with the increasing use of these devices, if your near neighbours have one (as mine do) then they will interfere unless you set a private network up. I would strongly recommend always doing this - I originally had extremely erratic throughput because sometimes they would run through my network and sometimes through the neighbour's network. The utility for managing the units is reasonably straight forward which was a pleasant surprise (and actually any utility to support the QCA chipset will work).

The powerline adaptors arrived earlier than expected - thanks Amazon, and I plugged one straight into the cable modem/router upstairs and one downstairs in the living room into the wife's laptop. The status LED's on the adaptors all light up to show good connection and I logged straight onto the internet with no messing about. Speed test for my 60mb connection was a very healthy 52mb down and 3.1mb up - and very low ping as well.I tried my bluray player on the end of a 4 gang surge protected plug which worked fine and it's built in YouTube app worked with out a hitch. The adapters are surprisingly small and very unobtrusive. Unfortunately the supplied LAN cables are bright yellow which could put some people off,but they are 1.5m long. The CD that comes with the units has a utility software on to monitor and change network keys but this is not required for most people and doesn't need to be installed.Last but not least, the 22 pounds I paid is a bargain, so affordable, you could have these all over the house. I recommend them.EDIT: Upon constant use, the TRENDnet powerline utility software (supplied) shows a connection speed of 441Mbps. No noticeable lag when gaming over the connection.

Well, to begin with this kit is a significant upgrade to my previous TP-Link TL-PA211 AV200 Nano 200Mbps.I'm with Virgin and get their boosted 50 meg broadband, with this kit I achieve those speeds MOST of the time. There can be fluctuations throughout the day due to interference from things connected throughout the house (Wireless doorbells, extension plugs connected right next to your adapter, or in my case charging your laptop). This kit provides a consistent connection most of the time, compared to my previous TP-Link, which had sudden drop outs for some reason - this is great in that respect. For avid gamers this is excellent, do not be fooled by PS3/PS4 speed tests,I get speeds of around 30 meg on my PS4 and those tests are unreliable, whereas running speed tests on my laptop gets speeds of around 50-54 meg (when there is no interference)If you do get really slow speeds, don't be disheartened like I was - just mess around with things connected nearby and see if it makes a difference.Only time will tell if these adapters deteriorate over time or provide the same great speeds for years to come.

My main aim in writing this is so you can avoid the pitfalls I fell into; the devices, while purporting to be from a US firm, have manuals that appear to be written originally in Chinese, I found them quite confusing, but the TPL-421E manual made more sense than the TPL-430APK wireless adapter kit I bought to go with these too. When they say “seconds”, I found that “count” was better. So to set a new random sync key, hold down the sync button for a count of 15 until the lights go out, it takes about 7 seconds. If you keep it held down too long it doesn’t seem to work. Similarly, a count of 2, but less than two seconds is about the right time to hold down the sync button to start the sync sequenceand the join on the next adapter. My initial first impressions are that the Powerline speeds aren’t noticeably more than the old Billion 500M units they replaced. This is on U.K. mains, all 3 wire, and about 10 years old.

I have a grade II listed property that is made up of two small cottages joined together to make one, with walls that are 2 feet thick. That means we have the nuisance of an extra barrier in the middle of the house that stops wifi signals getting through easily to the other half. These adapters allow the signal at the incoming router to be pushed onto the house electric wiring and then to be capable of being extracted at any 3 pin wall socket via the use of a further adapter. That then allows data to be used directly using cat5e or cat6 cable or to be used as the input source for separate wifi by being passed to a wifi router for distribution. This works OK most of the time but sometimes the connection is dropped and the fibre router may need to be restarted and then the powerline adapters allowed to catch up and resynchronise. On balance it is mostly functional and reliable with few gotchas at high speeds.

My lad wanted powerline to connect his XBox360 to the internet so he can play Minecraft etc with his friends. These were on a deal with another online store so I bought them on a whim. I've already got a couple of trendnet switches that are just fine so I was happy to buy these.I plugged one in downstairs and connected it to my router with the supplied network cable and the other upstairs and connected the Xbox. Job done! I just worked. My house is really wireless unfriendly with signals hardly escaping one room, so I will be buying more of these, once I find another offer for them. Looking at other units in PC World recently I also note that these ones are half the size of most other powerlineadapters.Next job will be to connect my TV.Update - I now have 4 of these connecting Xboxes and the like. They've been running for almost a year without any problems. Still recommended!

I purchased them in order to move my router to a better position. I received and got them working but not straight away. I would recommend NOT reading the quick installation guide as it is a bit confusing and only gives instructions that changes the default encryption key, it doesn't give instructions on a standard set up which in fairness doesn't need it as it is as simple as connecting the ethernet cables to whatever you want to connect, in my case a cable modem and a wifi router, and powering on. After mucking about pressing the sync button for 3 seconds to pair the devices without any success I then performed a reset to factory default (press sync button for 1 second) and everything worked fine after that.In hindsight I should have trusted my "bloke" intuition and cunning and ignored any instructions and done my own thing.

Have got fibre-optic connection to broadband router located downstairs. Had a bedroom where wi-fi connection to the router frequently dropped to very low figure (sometimes as slow as 2 or 3 Mbps). Not sure what was causing the interference so thought I'd try the TRENDnet powerline 500 AV as it seemed reasonably priced compared to some other products. Plugged in the powerline devices, as per instructions, and waited for them to establish a connection. It took longer than I expected, so after 5 minutes I just walked away and left it. Came back some time later and the 'data' lights were both illuminated. Connected wi-fi devices to the new wi-fi hot spot and it all appears to work fine.Wi-fi download speed in the problematic bedroom is frequently better than 40 Mbps. Not seen worse than 25 Mbps.

Moved house and so lost my nice wired LAN network. Bought two sets of these for whole house coverage not expecting too much. So I have one sending the signal and LAN connection in three different rooms. They work flawlessly and fast (far faster than wi-fi), and importantly for my confidence to leave them on, run just warm to the touch. I gather from reviews of some others that this is not always the case (TP-Link for example, which allegedly runs quite hot).Use one unit at TV connected to a Netgear LAN switch to provide four connections to TV, Media box, Freeview box etc. All works fine without any hitches.Far exceeded my expectations.Read instruction book about enabling encryption if you want to minimise risk of a neighbour logging on to your network!Highly recommended.

I bought these to add to an existing pair of TrendNet Power Line LAN adapters that I already had. I just plugged these units in to the sockets that I needed & they communicated with the existing set. This means that I didn't need to specifically pair the two units. I can use them separately to add network connectivity to whatever room in my house that I like. This really is a first class way to create a wired network in your house. They are faster and more secure than a wireless network. There are no messy cables, like I used to have before. Please note that I stream a lot of data-intensive HD video over my wired home network, to computers, games consoles & TVs and they all work perfectly with these Power Line extenders.Top notch. And for £22 you can't go wrong.

These are excellent value for money and work very well indeed. You can just plug in and they are operational. They come with optional software that allows you to create a secure private network. This would prevent neighbours from connecting to your network should they happen to also have similar powerline networking.Free tip:I did find that every so often the connection would be dropped and I note some complaints about this in some of the one star reviews. The solution for me was to add interference filters in the power cable to electrical items that could be noise sources. In my my case it was a laser printer but it could be anything.I picked up RFI filters on eBay for £1 each that simply go in line with appliance plug.
