Have been trying to set up an extended network at home for some time and the cheap extenders never quite cut the mustard for me. The reliance upon switching to the strongest signal (which invariably the connected devices often didn't) or having to manually intervene just felt flawed. I bought the full powerline package and then after a week or so bough the second TPL-410AP 2.Something to note is that these automatically set up separate SSIDs, so there's no way of installing them in a house and automatically asking it to deliver an extended network. You instead end up with your original network (e.g. SKY) and then two further TRENDNET networks. To get around this of course you need to log into the router itself with a LAN cable (please not if you don't have a device with a LAN cable...such as a tablet or a latest laptop etc) then I can't see a way of adjusting this wireless. You also have to manually assign a static IP address which is a bit of a faff, but doable if you follow the instructions on the included CDRom (again note you'll need to search for the manual online if you don't have a CD/DVD drive.Once you've got into the back end you can then manually change the settings and align the whole network with the same SSID as the original home Wi-FI (consider the wireless channel too in this process) so your device will move around the house on the same network without having to manually switch as the device will automatically switch the strongest network. There are still a few teething problems such as signal strength of the powerlines (i tend to get a red light on the TPL-410AP when plugged in more than about 20ft away from the initial extender, however this might be the age of the house and the duff wiring.Anyway, hope this helps make an informed decision...

My lad wanted powerline to connect his XBox360 to the internet so he can play Minecraft etc with his friends. These were on a deal with another online store so I bought them on a whim. I've already got a couple of trendnet switches that are just fine so I was happy to buy these.I plugged one in downstairs and connected it to my router with the supplied network cable and the other upstairs and connected the Xbox. Job done! I just worked. My house is really wireless unfriendly with signals hardly escaping one room, so I will be buying more of these, once I find another offer for them. Looking at other units in PC World recently I also note that these ones are half the size of most other powerlineadapters.Next job will be to connect my TV.Update - I now have 4 of these connecting Xboxes and the like. They've been running for almost a year without any problems. Still recommended!

I purchased them in order to move my router to a better position. I received and got them working but not straight away. I would recommend NOT reading the quick installation guide as it is a bit confusing and only gives instructions that changes the default encryption key, it doesn't give instructions on a standard set up which in fairness doesn't need it as it is as simple as connecting the ethernet cables to whatever you want to connect, in my case a cable modem and a wifi router, and powering on. After mucking about pressing the sync button for 3 seconds to pair the devices without any success I then performed a reset to factory default (press sync button for 1 second) and everything worked fine after that.In hindsight I should have trusted my "bloke" intuition and cunning and ignored any instructions and done my own thing.

Received the 500mbps home plugs and had them working within 5 minutes of opening the box. Literally plugged them in, connected the ethernet cables and it was up and running. A quick flick through the manual mentioned re-pairing for security to generate a new code so I did this also without issue - the leds flashed for a few seconds then the two adapters were paired again. With regards to actual throughput, these plugs are able to completely max out the included 100mb ethernet ports - a large file copy across the local network ran at 100% utilization as shown by Windows task manager. Extremely impressed.

I have just tested a pair of these power-line adapters between my house and an outbuilding, over 100m of SWA underground cable. The link worked perfectly, and fast enough for my needs - remote desktop working between two PCs using ssh. The outbuilding and my workroom are fed by the same mains consumer board, but are on separate sub-circuits, each with its own MCB and RCD, so conditions are less than ideal. Set-up is quick and extremely simple. I paid £18 for the pair, which I thought was very good value for money. I thoroughly recommend these devices.

Do you know what I love? Simplicity! And this product has that in spades. I needed to connect my SkyHD box to my router and of course Sky have a gadget to plug into my Sky box to send the signal wirelessly... but the Trendnet Powerline does it better by doing it faster...upto 500MBS! As for plug n play - literally from opening the box and getting it working... 2 minutes. For me, a gadget experience doesnt come much better that than. Great price, great product. Whats not to love?!Trendnet 500Mbps Nano Powerline Ethernet Adapter (Pack of 2)

Virgin Media's Superhub 3.0 routers are supposedly well known for being pants when it comes to WIFI beyond in the same or next room! I could not connect at all.I considered powerline adapters that were £50-£70 but am very pleased that I went for these for £24.99 at the time of purchasing.Talk about plug and play.. unless you are a total donut, you'll be able to shove one into a socket and router.. and the other into a socket and computer, all with cables provided. I instantly got 62mbps from my quoted 100mbps Virgin broadband.

Having never used an Ethernet via power adapter I was always slightly sceptical, but at £20 I couldn't really quibble, and decided to take a chance.I'm very glad I did, they work seamlessly, from the moment I plugged them both in, they paired up and I can work in my office as if nothing had changed, but without the half mile of Ethernet cable running through the middle of the house and hanging down the stairs. No difference to performance, can transfer files around my home NAS and the Internet much as before, very happy!

Works just as advertised and is absolutely perfect! Just so everyone knows, both adaptors come with ethernet ports, 2 ethernet cables are provided and works straight out of the box. I get the full speeds that I needed and this can also be hooked up to another router for those who know how! Great price, however needs to be plugged directly into the socket, cannot be plugged into a surge protected extension cable. Therefore it might be worth putting in a bit more cash and buying one with a plug socket on it!

Well just to say that I did originally have an old powerline ethernet adaptor, but when I got fibre installed and was still getting pretty rubbish speeds in my desktop connected via my powerline adaptor I thought I'd try another one.So my previous adaptor gave me this reading from speedtest.net:download 2.03 Mbpsupload 4.09 MpbsI just switched to the TRENDnet adaptor and did the same test:download: 28.12Mbpsupload: 9.34 Mbpsconclusion - definitely worth buying!

These are extremely easy to setup but unless your in a newley wired home and the adapters are close to each other in terms of wiring you are unlikely to achieve anywhere near 500mbps. This is common with ALL of these adapters. 11mbps is good enough for HD streaming which is the minimum speed these seem to connect to each other. Unless you have really thick walls or must have a wired connection, wifi and repeaters are without doubt the better option.

These adapters really are excellent. My computer is used to send/receive real time data for 12 hours a day, where ping time is really important. I purchased these adapters after moving to a new house where it was not possible to plug the computer directly into the router. When testing the ping, it is slightly longer with the adapters, but in no way noticeable. The consistency of the connection is superb, with no dropped connections...touch wood.

We are very impressed with these. We now get faster downloads in our garden office than we did when we had a cable! We thought that as the office was on a separate ring that it wouldn't work, but all seems fine.It doesn't seem to matter how far apart they are either as it runs through the electrical system. It is also possible to add more so any devices that haven't got wifi can now be connected to the internet. Highly recommended.

Quadrupled my internet speeds from 12Mb to about 50+...great little thing. Worth every penny.Just plug it directly into the wall, no adapters or multi plugs and fiddle with it till it connects. might take a few tries the first time but once they pair its pretty much smooth sailing. If you are paying for good internet and stuck with bad wifi in your house etc this is the thing for you.
