I read hundreds so many reviews here with many stating that this kit was just a waste of time. But then I thought, hiw could this have 4 and a half stars with nearly 8k reviews, something must be good about. I really needed a wired output behind my TV to provide a fast and consistent wired internet to my many devices. I firstly sought confirmation as to whether a powerline adapter could be connected to a switch thereby providing extra ports to serve each device. Thus was duly confirmed so half way there. The next and most important question was whether these would provide the same speed as I was paying for which is 100mb from Virgin Media. From the many reviews I have read here it appeared that I was only going to get about a third of the speed which I would expect from a direct connection to my router. There were however a few reviews which stated that they have achieved excellent speeds with this TP-link poweline adapters. I took a gamble the current price of £29.99 thinking to myself that if they are worthless I’ll just return them, what could I possibly lose and I wouldn’t know unless I tried them out myself. Well what can I say about these beauties. They are so small and beautifully designed so that was a great start. Two 5e cat cables included in the box. Even better. Now for testing these. Plugged one behind my tv and the other two rooms away in my study where I have my router and connected this to one of the spare router ports. Pressed on the pair button and then walked to to my lounge and pressed on the the pair button of the second adapter. Bingo both paired up within a minute. This was really easy. Now to check the speed and find out if these really are the bees knees. Hooked up my laptop and did a speed test. Oh boy only 37mb per second download speed and the usual 9mb upload speed. Well that was disappointing. Ready to return them as they were no way near my download speed I get when hooked up directly to my router. Oh wait I thought to my self, I did read somewhere that if you connect to an extention lead then you will not get the best speed and the adapters should be plugged in directly to a wall socket. My router is connected to an extension lead and the adapter I plugged in was sitting right next to it on the same extension cord. I unplugged it, hooked the adapter to a longer cat5e cable and plugged it to a wall socket. Let’s check the speed again I thought. Did the speed test and WOW full 105mb download speed and 20 up. What can I say about these adapters they are absolutely brilliant. People say you get what you pay for, but I feel I literally paid peanuts for this excellent pair of powerline adapters. Who needs to get their homes hard wired with internet cables when these will do the same job using you wall AC cables to run internet through them. Genuine!

Right my situation is I have a mancave 120ft away from my router at the end of the garden and could get netflix or amazon prime via WiFi as distance was to far even for a wifi extender.Powerline adapters work via your electrical wiring and say both devices that you plug into the power must be on the same curcuit. Here lies some confusion as houses have many curcuits such as downstairs power socket ring mains , upstairs socket ring mains, individual out building cuircuits etc..So heres what I have below and it worked instantly !The man cave armoured power cable comes from my consumer unit on its own 32amp mcb switch breaker .In the cave the cable terminates into a small outbuilding consumer unit with 2 mcb's one for lighting and 1 for power ring cuircuits .I plugged one powerline adapter into a plug socket near the TV and connected the ethernet cable to the tv.In the house our router is in a front room on the ground floor power socket ring main wich again goes back to the consumer unit with its own mcb curcuit breaker .I plugged the other powerline adapter into the same double gang power socket the router uses and followed the pairing instructions. As I said it worked straight away even though the powerlines are on different curcuits and have to go through several mcb's in 2 consumer units.Hope this helps as some forums about powerline adapters confuse the issue of being on the same curcuit even saying they won't bridge a cross and upstairs and downstairs ring mains.

This product would have been 5 stars but for the fact the product includes what is actually a not very clever power saving setting. It's designed to detect inactivity on the power adapter and send it to sleep BUT I don't want that! 3 of the 4 units came with it not set as the default so all well with them, but the 4th plug unit goes into standby so receives no data on the network after a while (it indicates it is on and it is linked but no data is being received with the data light off) My system is just the power adapters with one sending and 3 receiving data and sending it to a dedicated set of TP link dual 2.4 /5g wifi routers one located on each floor. They are all set up as linked as per the instructions and all work except for this one issue. You are supposed to be able to change settings via the TP portal but it does not work (broken it appears) My fix was somewhat over the top I attached a cat 5 link to an old laptop via the connected router to the 4th problem plug so it now sees activity on it and stays awake. Very frustrating issue that should be simple to change settings on they need to fix this problem then I could say brilliant as it is the system was a problem solver over 5 floors all needing a fast internet connection.

I upgraded from TP Link 500mbps powerline adapters without any passthrough to these 1Gbps with passthrough to allow me to use the socket that I had been missing for years again. They are literally plug and play, they are a little large but need to be for the circuitry to allow for the passthrough feature. I chose these TP link ones as the ethernet cable comes in/out the bottom of the adapter making a much neater appearance vs. Netgear ones which come out of the top and the cable then has to droop down to the skirting which is not as pleasing if the socket is not hidden.I've never had an issue with my previous TPlink products and do not expect these to fail me either.I am a hardcore internet user - I stream 2k and game daily without any losses in my signal. My router is downstairs and I use my PC (via a switch) upstairs and the signal still manages to jump houses circuit without any losses. It is not recommended that you do this but I haven't experienced any issue, you should have the powerline adapters on the same circuit (downstairs ring or upstairs ring).

Our house has two fuse boxes, the main router is powered off a downstairs ring main on fuse box 1 and my 'office' is in a garage conversion and on both a completely different ring main AND via a second spurred off fuse box. I bought this item with a view that I may have to get the second plug 'as close as I could' to the office using the main house electrics and run a network cable the rest of the way. I needn't have worried! I can confirm even across different rings and fuseboxes and RCDs this product does work.Just some extra information, I did set up the two plugs in sockets about 6 feet apart to start with, verified the connection was made via the lights on the plug and THEN moved the second plug into the office. It connected straight away. It has gone off once since due to me having to turn the office power off for a short period and it did seem to struggle a little to re-connect. I just repeated the same thing as mentioned, pairing the plugs close to each other and then moving it back to the office and all worked again and not had an issue since

Why oh why didn't I do this before!Having struggled through lockdown with an intermittent wifi signal in my new home office (built as an extension meaning the signal had to go through what used to be an external wall...) I now have a lightening fast ethernet connection. No longer will I have to suffer the embarrassment of being the only one who has to drop off video during important zoom meetings!Could not have been easier to set up. I bought the passthrough versions, so I could still use the socket for other stuff at either end. Plug 'em in, press the connection button on each unit and sit back for seconds few while the electronic wizardry does its business. It really is that simple. And all for less than £35.I did pay slightly more to get the gigabit port, rather than risk the older technology throttling back my fibre broadband. I pay for 60mbps at the router and I get 60mbps in my office, despite the signal flying around my domestic 240v ring-main first. Magic :)(P.S. I'm not being paid for this review, i am genuinely hugely impressed!).

My grandson was suffering wifi drop outs while gaming on his Play Station due to dead spots in the house, i did not want to run an Ethernet cable all the way up to his bedroom so got these power line adapters. They are very easy to fit and for the none tech savy its just a case of following the picture instructions, same with the wifi extender instructions if your not going to hard wire devices to them but use its wifi option instead. The PS4 was getting around 15mbps from a 30mbps internet speed from their ISP, after using the power line adaptors and hard wiring the PS4 using the 2 supplied ethernet cables he is now getting the full 30mbps with zero drop outs.I also liked the passthrough optionon these as i can still plug in the power strip that house the power plugs to the TV and said PS4, all very neat and tidy and quite simple.I would recommend this option to others who are having connection problems to far ends of their property, as it transfers very good speeds relative to your actual Internet service providers stated connection.

this is not as good as ethernet, so if ethernet is an option for you just get a $5 cat-6 cable. but for 39.99, you will get a really solid connection with very few ping spikes. i needed reliable internet in my bedroom which is 2 floors above the wifi router. wifi/wifi extenders have been terrible for gaming. ethernet would not be a viable solution. hopefully my speedtests will give you some sort of indication of what speeds you are likely to get in relation to your package:5ghz wifi extender (with PC 6m from router) 47up: 19*still intermittent connection*wifi (with PC 6m from router) 4up: 11*surprisingly very intermittent*ethernet:down:220up: 20*as fast reliable as you can get*5ghzwifi extender (bedroom) 20up: 4*intermittent due to large distance*this product (bedroom) 90upload: 21*99% of the time very solid*hopefully this helps anyone who is considering purchasing this

I've never installed a Powerline network before. I wish I had!Super-simple, plug & play, no hassle set-up. Instead of a shaky wifi booster connection shared with my wife and kids in a low reception area of our house, I now have a fast ethernet connection from our broadband router, via the house electricity wiring, and out via another ethernet cable in my study straight to my PC.I bought the version with a built-in extra plug socket too => no need to sacrifice a socket.Only issue I might point out is the size. The units aren't unexpectedly large - around the same size as a standard plug-in wifi booster - but they point downwards. Per my uploaded image, that means that if your target socket is neatly near a skirting board, you need a plug adapter to give enough protrusion from the wall, to then connect the Powerline module.Doesn't affect the quality of the signal, but not too attractive.

My lad is always moaning about lag and buffering on his Xbox. Even though we have a mesh system we are always having problems with bandwidth. I reluctantly bought these and wasn't convinced they'd make any difference. You simply plug them in the socket and plug the router into it and the Xbox (or whatever item you're using) into the other. Press the pairing button on the bottom of both .. then within a few seconds they paired. The results are unbelievable ... Super fast ..no buffering and stable. They aren't cheap ... £50 for 2, however that is only one gadget ... So you have to but more plugs if for example you have a playstation in another room. The other negative is you can only buy them in 2s ...So it's costing me over £100 ... Hence the loss of a star. However they do a sterling job ...very fast broadband!

Didn't hold out much hope for these, but I was surprised. I suppose it comes down to varying factors, but since my house is new, with fresh wiring, maybe that seals it? Bought for Raspberry Pi's in bedroom, as they are terrible with built in Wi-Fi, and they excel with these indeed. Full speed through each of them via these little devices, and I didn't even have to 'pair' them, just plugged in and they worked.I'm knocking a star off, as they are rather hot to the touch, so I will definitely not be plugging anything into them via passthrough, although they do power down when not in use, still, I ain't risking it, plus they are 2 inches thick, so anything plugged in would weigh on the device, pulling it further from socket. All in all, you can't go wrong with these if your Wi-Fi is poor on certain devices.

I bought this to boost my internet connection between my laptop and the router, after struggling daily with running MS Teams and various other programmes simultaneously whilst working from home. So far, it's an amazing purchase. My internet connection feels like I'm back at the office and runs exceptionally faster than it was when I was using WiFi. It's very easy to connect and set up takes a few minutes. Only negative comment I have is the fact that the ethernet cables supplied with the plugs are only 1metre long. So if you're router or laptop is a distance away from the nearest plug socket then I recommend you buy longer ethernet cables to set this up with.I bought CAT 7 ethernet cables on Amazon and they're working perfectly.

I'm on a 1gig connection but only achieve between 120-170 mb/s (15-22 MB/s) while on this powerline adapter, wifi I can achieve between 600-700 while upstairs but it isn't as stable.Like my old powerline adapter, this sometimes disconnects you. I haven't been able to fix this problem but only occurs once when I start up my computer and reconnects in a couple of seconds. If you are on a connection lower than 200mb/s I would recommend this, as you will achieve your actual speed. For anyone that has anything above that I would recommend getting something else as these will never achieve the actual speeds unless you plug it in the same room as the router.

Nice and compact little units. I replaced my 500Mbps TP Link units with these twice as fast Gigabit ones and I no longer have problems when watching iPlayer or any other Internet based programs on my TV. I have one adapter upstairs next to our WiFi router and the next one next to our TV downstairs in the lounge. Uses the house wiring perfectly. Took less than 2minutes to set it up.Brilliant and I do recommend these. The 500Mbps adapters were pretty much ok for most Internet based programs, but on occasion, the data rate was not quite good enough and we had quite a bit of buffering going on.

What can I say really, apart from it does what it says. I now have 6x TP-Link Power Lines. These now act as master and other is my main computer room PL. Updated software is excellent. It sees all PL's on network (before it was painful, you had to connect directly to each PL and set it up), which allows easy config and your now able to secure all PL's in one go.Despite the ratings of powerlines, you will never get the full amount. Previous version was a 500mbps, I only ever got 200mbps. Now with this one, Im getting 500mbps. It depends on wiring in your house, extensions, etc etc.
