My son constantly complained about the broadband speed when gaming with his friends online. This was very frustrating as I have one of the fastest broadband packages you can get. After speaking to our service provider they suggested trying to hardwired items like gaming computers and consoles that require super fast connection speeds for streaming gaming and movies.Having read multiple reviews on all the available adapters I decided to give these TP-Line adapters a go.Setting up is very straight forward. Do the following: -Plug in both adapters to sockets close to each other (to start with)Press the pair button on one of the adapters for 1 second. The green LED indicator starts flashingNext, within 2 minutes press the pair button on the 2nd adapter. The green LED indicator starts flashing on this too. When both LED's on both adapters stop flashing the units are paired. (This can take up to 2 minutes)After the units have paired: -Plug in one of the adapters by your internet router and connect the cable from the adapter into the back of your router.Place the 2nd adapter where you require a internet connection and connect the CAT lead to your device.Job done. Remember to turn off the WiFi on your laptop / connected device.Adding additional adapters is easy: -Plug in the new adapter and press the pair button. The green LED indicator starts flashingOn one of the other adapters (already part of the network) press the pair button within 2 minutes. The green LED indicator starts flashing. When both LED's on both adapters stop flashing the new adapter unit has paired with the other network adapters. EasyAfter reading that the adapters are only supplied with Cat 5 cables (max speed 100Mbps) instead of enhanced Cat 5e (max speed 1000Mbps) the full throughput cannot be achieved without purchasing some better CAT leads. I opted for some CAT6 leads just because they slightly better quality than CAT5e stopping cross-talk (noise interference from other cables)So far these powerline adapters seem to have done the job. Very happy with these internet passthrough powerline adapters.I would have given 5 stars if the kit had better CAT cable.

My router is in the ground floor living room and my study is in a first floor room, so I wanted both an extension of the Ethernet connection upstairs and a stronger wifi signal to the first floor and second floor loft room. The Powerline with wifi extension offered a quicker, cheaper and less messy option than running an Ethernet cable from the router to the upstairs floors. Separating and using the 2.4 GHz wifi did help to extend the wifi stability in parts of the house that are far from the router, and Sky's router is better than Virgin Media for that, but the gains were relatively marginal. As an efffective extension of the Ethernet, the product is excellent. The Ethernet broadband upload/download speed in the study is the same as at the router (17/1 MBps, vs the 6/1 MBps max on wifi, and the device was quick and easy to set up (took five minutes) and the pass-through plug facility is very useful. However, it does not broadcast wifi, contrary to what I was expecting. There are several products with similar names (and with/without pass-through plugs, with/without wifi rebroadcast, etc), in same/mixed packs of one, two and three devices, so take care to order exactly what you want/need.I was concerned when the installation guide said that the (two) TP Link devices needed to be on the same electrical circuit because my plugs upstairs/downstairs are on different circuit breakers, but as long as your circuits are on the same circuit board, that should not be a problem.Instead of sending the product back, I have decided to keep it and use the second device in the study for my desktop PC or laptop, and to buy a third, wifi-broadcast unit (TP-Link TL-WPA4220 2-Port Add-On Powerline Adapter, Range Extender, Broadband/WiFi Extender, WiFi Booster/Hotspot, No Configuration Required, UK Plug) as a wifi booster in the upstairs bedroom/loft; that also has two Ethernet ports that I can use to connect my laptop. Amazon is sold out so I got it from Maplin online.

I got these for my student accommodation where the router is in the living room and there are no ethernet ports in the rooms. I bought two sets, one for the router, one for the Steam-Link by the TV, and one each for the two desktops in each bedroom. The connection is fast and stable, being able to fully utilise my internet connection with no slow-downs, nice! Streaming using the Steam-Link feels like just using a HDMI cable, absolutely no stuttering or latency. Mouse movement is fast and responsive. Using all 4 at once also has no effect on the internet speed, I expect with download speeds approaching their limit, you may find that it’ll stop going up,which is expected. The devices probably won’t reach the connection speed advertised on the box. This number is theoretical and achievable in very strict test conditions. Under normal use in a house with decent electrics I imagine you should get over 80% of the speed advertised. So if you require these for high load networking then purchase a model with a slightly higher achievable speed than your requirements.Setup was easy. You can either download a tool and use it to manage your network, or simply press the pair button on two devices. To setup 4, first pair any two together. Then press the pair button of any adapter in the network (either of the two you just paired) and then press the pair button on another one. Repeat this as many times as you need to link all the adapters together. I expect the more you add the less maximum speed you’ll be able to get as the one by the router has to feed every other adapter.Really happy with this purchase, does the job very well and are actually much faster and more reliable than I expected. This will be my home networking solution from now on.***If you found my review helpful please don’t forget to mark it as helpful below, thanks!***

Summary of how the new PA7010 model performs compared to the old PA411 model...(see photo of old and new model side by side below)ProsAlmost twice as fastCompletely stable and reliableConsSocket pass through version huge compared to non pass throughWe have owned old PA411 powerline adaptors for many years (like in the pic), and for the most part have been happy with them. However, whilst they are reliable 98% of the time, all three of ours had intermittent daily dropouts....which is quite annoying when using as a means to stream movies/TV. We have to stop, wait a minute or so and then reconnect. There seems to be no fix (too old to upgrade firmware)so finally decided to upgrade to new versions.Chose these PA7010 models for their hopefully faster speed and pass through sockets...we have limited sockets in our house. We are lucky enough to have 200mbps broadband, which locks at 200mb via an ethernet cable...the old adaptors managed 75/65/60 mbps respectively. So, they gave us roughly 1/3 of our full bandwidth. The new ones manage 120/110/100 in the same places, so are almost twice as fast, and now manage to use just over half of our full bandwidth.More importantly, they have been in daily use for four weeks now and unbelievably, they have been completely 100% stable and reliable. Not a single drop out or hiccup of any kind, and all three devices in our house are used daily, often at the same time. The only downside is that these pass through units are huge! Have other pass through devices like smart plugs and they are much more compact. See pic for size difference compared to the old non pass through model. However, despite this, very pleased with them as an upgrade, and would highly recommend if you are experiencing the same dropping out issue with older versions.

With needing to work (and play) from home much more often I found myself needing a strong and reliable Ethernet connection much more often than when I did most of my work in the office. My phone line and wireless router sit by my front door but my office space is upstairs in the spare room, and running a cable up the stairs or drilling through the ceiling in order to feed a cable up towards my office was not feasible.Looking into alternative solutions I discovered TP-Link Powerline which uses your mains power as "extra cabelling" for an Ethernet connection that can pass data through and essentially allows you to use your wall sockets as Ethernet extensions.I decided to go for an option that has power passthrough so that I could plug another plug into the adaptors and not end up losing a plug socket.Set up as easy as plugging one Powerline adaptor into the plug socket next to my router and the other one next to my desk upstairs in the office. I then connected my router via Ethernet to the adapter plugged into the wall downstairs, and another Ethernet cable from the adapter upstairs into the laptop (or in the case of these pictures the PS4) that required an Ethernet connection. Flipping the wall power switch for both of the adaptors power them immediately, and they automatically pair with eachother meaning no setup is required.I now get the full speed of my internet connection upstairs without long cables and any noticeable lag or reduction in service. This starter kit is perfect for anyone who needs to extend that Ethernet connection through the house.

I have used home plugs int he past with great success, I also know of some great failures too. Largely down the makeup of internal wiring. This technology works best when the plugs are all on the same ring main. My first ever decent set were TP-Link and have deployed TP-Link ones in family members' houses to great successTP-Link are quite easily the leaders for networking kit for the home user. They bosh out some awesome routers and these homeplugs are no exception. Absolute simplicity to use.Its very simply. Connect one to your router via ethernet and then plug it in. Connect the other one and plug it in and bosh, done. Where this take it to the next level is that in addition to giving you a hard connection in the furthest flung reaches of your house. These ones feature passthrough for plugs so you are not losing a power point which is superb.Having tried many brands previously from Solwise to Asus and many in between I can easily say these are the best I have used. I have also found them a lot more stable in one particular scenario where others were intermittent. Good, stable throughput. Performance will vary depending on your wiring etc but I had not problem streaming HD movies and playing online, pings were surprisingly good. One thing I would like to have seen though is maybe two ethernet ports per plug. I think one is a bit miserly given the amount of connected devices these days.If you are looking for homeplugs these are in my opinion, at this time, one of the best solutiuons.

I purchased this more expensive version as the cheaper versions may not have the plug socket pass through and also whilst the cheaper versions may indicate a 600 m/bit through put the actual individual port are limited to 100 m/bit each which is the equivalent of about 10 megabytes a second which is less bandwidth than some internet connections. This version has full gigabit ports each capable of 1,000 m/bit or equivalent to 100 megabytes a second. The plugs installed flawlessly however note that you only need 1 input from your router, do not plug 2 inputs in, that crashed my router :)Since I have installed this from my downstairs living room to my upstairs office my ping has reduced slightlyand I have not suffered any dropped connections like I would occasionally get on WiFi.My only slight disappointment is that my max bandwidth was about 220 m/bit or the equivalent of 22 megabytes a second far short of the maximum of approximately 5 times this, however this is still better that WiFi and twice the throughout of the cheaper power line adapters where the ports are the bottleneck. The reduced throughout is to be expected as the electrical system in my home plus distance will have an impact.Overall I will give this a big thumbs up as so far worked great.Update: had this up and running for 10 days now and no issues whatoever so very happy !

I've been a long time user of homeplug networking for a number of years now. It is arguable with the massive improvement in WiFi delivery that they are becoming redundant - but I don't agree yet. My reality is that in a biggish house with a couple of kids streaming you tube on ipads or whatever, my wifi to the top office often drops despite having the supposed latest and greatest router. With the home plugs I have a rock solid ethernet connection. The leap from these over my older kit are noticeable. First is speed - my old kit was 312mbs, this is gigabit. Obviously, just for surfing the web or whatever chances are that even the old kit was faster than my braodband speed connection so in theory there should be no difference from the internet experience (and there probably isn't)- but the win is I have a NAS box to stream media from on my local network, and syncing between them is real time and instant with these. Pairing is as simple as plugging in and pressing a button. The other thing I love about these it the pass through. My old kit stole a whole plug socket, these give it back to me. Very useful. Finally, the price has come down a lot. This is way better than my old kit for a lot less money. If you have any issues with wifi in your house I can fully recommend these as a solution.

Simply perfect, straight out of the box. They came with 2 ethernet cables, quite short to be honest, but more than enough from the Virgin Media modem to the mains. Plugged in the 1st in the mains, VM modem, wait 1 minute top to recognise the connection, attach the second to the mains next to my PS4, wait for the signal, plug the cable to the console. Done.Be aware that you will not get 600mb! That's the max transfer rate between the two devices. Then it's up to the cable quality, status and age of your electrical line, the device ethernet port you will attach, your broadband contract and other factors. I have Virgin Media VIVID 200 Optical Fibre and on the PS4 I tested with the Network software by Playstation with a result of 65 Mbps download,8 Mbps upload and 16 ms ping. Way more than enough for online gaming, download games/updates and video streaming (Netflix / Amazon Video).Even if on the instruction it is recommended to not use the adaptor on an extension cable, I had to do it and it works flawlessly.I bought these powerlines (TP-Link TL-PA4010PKIT V2.20 600 Passthrough Powerline Adapter Starter Kit) 8 days ago, no issues so far.

I was a Devolo fan for many years but their latest plugs are dire, overpriced and don’t last long. I decided to bite the bullet and buy several 2 pack kits to replace my devolo plugs. Well first thing is, 1, 4 plugs cost me less than a single devolo plug, 2, so much easier to set up, plug it in push the button and away you go, a lot less hassle than the devolo set up. Considering how much cheaper these units are compared to devolo there has been no performance loss and even if in the future I have to replace any dead units then I would rather do it at this price rather than the ridiculous price devolo charge. One issue if you use a Apple Mac, the tp link software is not compatible (yet)with Mac OS catalina - if you do a google search you will find a link on the tp link forum that gives a link to an official beta version that works fine on Catalina and does the job until they officially release a catalina version - or you can duel boot to Mojave and use the app that way, not a show stopper as to be honest you really don’t need to use the app that much and I can deal with the hassle at this price. Top marks.

I already had the TL-WPA4220KIT starter kit from TP-Link and wanted to add a couple of extra Ethernet points and this did the job perfectly. Easy enough to pair up and works very well. And the passthrough socket is useful as it means you're not losing a socket.I only had one slight hiccup when initially pairing it up with my existing network. The kit I already had consists of one non-wifi unit which is connected to the router, and two wifi units which are positioned elsewhere. When I paired the new adaptors with the existing non-wifi unit, they worked straight away but the other two existing wifi units were no longer recognised. I paired those up with the existing non-wifi unit, and then found that the new adaptors were no longer recognised. The solution was to pair the new adaptors with one of the existing wifi units, instead of pairing them with the one plugged into the router. I've got no idea why this was happening, or why my solution worked, but at least I got it working.

I bought this set to replace an AV600 set used by my parents. Their set up is that the phone line enters the house downstairs which is where the Fibre modem is but the router is upstairs. The TP-link AV600 set was easy to set up and gave a decent speed which I thought was limited by the fibre speed (up to 76 Mbps with an ~32 Mbps measured speed). The main reason to pick up this set was for the passthrough feature which would free up a plug in an important location and to be a bit more future-proof if fibre speeds are improved. To my surprise the download speed increased dramatically on installing these plugs (up to 55 Mbps) showing that the AV600 standard isn't suitable for fibre connections.Installation was completely hassle-free with zero software involvement (simply plug in and if that doesn't work, just press the connection button). Very impressed with TP-Link and would definitely look to the brand again for future HomePlugs.

I bought a pair of these TP Link Powerline adapters, firstly as my USB WiFi dongle was occasionally dropping out (it is quite old to be fair) and also to give me the best experience when using my Steam Link in the lounge.I opened the box and was presented with the two adapters and two small (about 1m) ethernet cables. I connected one cable to port 1 on my router, plugged in one of the adapters in the socket and connected the cable. I removed the USB dongle from my PC, enabled the ethernet port and plugged the cable in. I plugged in the 2nd adapter into the wall socket by my PC and connected the cable.Within 5/10 seconds my connection was up and running. Ran a speedtest and it was as fast it was previously,I even think the ping might have gone down by 1 or 2. For those who need reliable internet and can't get stable wireless these are the way forward, brilliant idea.

These are just so simple to set up. I wanted to extend my network into my garage but the Wi-Fi wouldn't hold up. Plugged one of these into a socket by my wireless router and connected the network cable (included in the kit). Plugged the other one into a socket in my garage and connected the network cable into my laptop. After pressing the button on the first adaptor and then the button on the second, Bingo, browsing the web right away. The whole thing from unboxing to browsing took about 15 minutes. The pass through for the house wiring is a godsend and this kit is terrific value for money. Couldn't be more satisfied. Now working on adding a wireless router at the garage end for phones etc.Just try to make sure that these adaptors are fitted to electrical outlets that are on the same circuit and don't fit them to an extension lead which might prevent them from working.

I have to admit that I was a little dubious about these having read various internet forums on the subject but went ahead with the purchase as I absolutely did not want to have to run ethernet cables around the place. I need not have worried. These worked instantly and perfectly with far better real world thoughput capability and reliability than most domestic wifi connections can offer. I've no experince of service interruptions ebven when things like washing machines and dishwashers are operating.A few weeks after getting these I decide to try out a third unit to give me network access in my garage which 15m away from the house at the bottom of the garden and is connected by propably 25 to 30m of cable via and RCD from my consumer unit distibution panel. This one was a second hand 500mps unit and after pairing it wiht the others it worked perfectly.
