My son constantly complained about the broadband speed when gaming with his friends online. This was very frustrating as I have one of the fastest broadband packages you can get. After speaking to our service provider they suggested trying to hardwired items like gaming computers and consoles that require super fast connection speeds for streaming gaming and movies.Having read multiple reviews on all the available adapters I decided to give these TP-Line adapters a go.Setting up is very straight forward. Do the following: -Plug in both adapters to sockets close to each other (to start with)Press the pair button on one of the adapters for 1 second. The green LED indicator starts flashingNext, within 2 minutes press the pair button on the 2nd adapter. The green LED indicator starts flashing on this too. When both LED's on both adapters stop flashing the units are paired. (This can take up to 2 minutes)After the units have paired: -Plug in one of the adapters by your internet router and connect the cable from the adapter into the back of your router.Place the 2nd adapter where you require a internet connection and connect the CAT lead to your device.Job done. Remember to turn off the WiFi on your laptop / connected device.Adding additional adapters is easy: -Plug in the new adapter and press the pair button. The green LED indicator starts flashingOn one of the other adapters (already part of the network) press the pair button within 2 minutes. The green LED indicator starts flashing. When both LED's on both adapters stop flashing the new adapter unit has paired with the other network adapters. EasyAfter reading that the adapters are only supplied with Cat 5 cables (max speed 100Mbps) instead of enhanced Cat 5e (max speed 1000Mbps) the full throughput cannot be achieved without purchasing some better CAT leads. I opted for some CAT6 leads just because they slightly better quality than CAT5e stopping cross-talk (noise interference from other cables)So far these powerline adapters seem to have done the job. Very happy with these internet passthrough powerline adapters.I would have given 5 stars if the kit had better CAT cable.

This is my forth powerline device, which is working successfully with the BT broadband TV.I bought a pair of BT Extender Flex 500 for the router-TV connection four years ago, which was fine until I added the third one for the connection to a desktop PC. The third addition killed the broadband TV signal, so I returned the third one as a BT engineer said at that time the powerline communication would not work for TV if a computer was involved (I don't know if this is true.)Recently I needed a third powerline device for the desktop PC and it is four years now since I gave up that idea. So I decided to buy a new product. I bought Devolo Magic 2 WiFi Powerline Whole Home WiFi Kit of three devices, which seemed working OK at the beginning but they started loosing the BT broadband TV signals. I tried every possible workarounds with no success. So I returned this product and I bought (stupidly) TP-Link TL-WPA4220T KIT 2-Port Powerline Adapter WiFi Starter Kit (three devices) and immediately realised that they didn't have pass-through socket. I don't know why the manufacturers of PL devices sell ones without a psss-through socket as their installation manuals say not to use the adjacent wall socket, which seems to be essential for a realistic usage. So I immediately returned this product. Then I bought this procuct (TP-LINK TL-PA7020PKIT V2 2-Port Gigabit Passthrough Powerline Starter Kit together with TP-Link TL-PA7010PKIT 1-Port Gigabit Passthrough Powerline Starter Kit (both AV1000) as I needed at least three powerline devices. This time I gave up WiFi feature. The installation was very easy (Plug and Play; you just connect the devices one by one, that's it). They worked successfully for the first time for the BT broadband TV signal and for the desktop PC.The router and the TV are on the same ground floor and are communicating at about 650 Mbps and the router and the PC (which is upstairs) are communicating at about 270 Mbps. I accept this speed happily.

I got these for my student accommodation where the router is in the living room and there are no ethernet ports in the rooms. I bought two sets, one for the router, one for the Steam-Link by the TV, and one each for the two desktops in each bedroom. The connection is fast and stable, being able to fully utilise my internet connection with no slow-downs, nice! Streaming using the Steam-Link feels like just using a HDMI cable, absolutely no stuttering or latency. Mouse movement is fast and responsive. Using all 4 at once also has no effect on the internet speed, I expect with download speeds approaching their limit, you may find that it’ll stop going up,which is expected. The devices probably won’t reach the connection speed advertised on the box. This number is theoretical and achievable in very strict test conditions. Under normal use in a house with decent electrics I imagine you should get over 80% of the speed advertised. So if you require these for high load networking then purchase a model with a slightly higher achievable speed than your requirements.Setup was easy. You can either download a tool and use it to manage your network, or simply press the pair button on two devices. To setup 4, first pair any two together. Then press the pair button of any adapter in the network (either of the two you just paired) and then press the pair button on another one. Repeat this as many times as you need to link all the adapters together. I expect the more you add the less maximum speed you’ll be able to get as the one by the router has to feed every other adapter.Really happy with this purchase, does the job very well and are actually much faster and more reliable than I expected. This will be my home networking solution from now on.***If you found my review helpful please don’t forget to mark it as helpful below, thanks!***

Summary of how the new PA7010 model performs compared to the old PA411 model...(see photo of old and new model side by side below)ProsAlmost twice as fastCompletely stable and reliableConsSocket pass through version huge compared to non pass throughWe have owned old PA411 powerline adaptors for many years (like in the pic), and for the most part have been happy with them. However, whilst they are reliable 98% of the time, all three of ours had intermittent daily dropouts....which is quite annoying when using as a means to stream movies/TV. We have to stop, wait a minute or so and then reconnect. There seems to be no fix (too old to upgrade firmware)so finally decided to upgrade to new versions.Chose these PA7010 models for their hopefully faster speed and pass through sockets...we have limited sockets in our house. We are lucky enough to have 200mbps broadband, which locks at 200mb via an ethernet cable...the old adaptors managed 75/65/60 mbps respectively. So, they gave us roughly 1/3 of our full bandwidth. The new ones manage 120/110/100 in the same places, so are almost twice as fast, and now manage to use just over half of our full bandwidth.More importantly, they have been in daily use for four weeks now and unbelievably, they have been completely 100% stable and reliable. Not a single drop out or hiccup of any kind, and all three devices in our house are used daily, often at the same time. The only downside is that these pass through units are huge! Have other pass through devices like smart plugs and they are much more compact. See pic for size difference compared to the old non pass through model. However, despite this, very pleased with them as an upgrade, and would highly recommend if you are experiencing the same dropping out issue with older versions.

With needing to work (and play) from home much more often I found myself needing a strong and reliable Ethernet connection much more often than when I did most of my work in the office. My phone line and wireless router sit by my front door but my office space is upstairs in the spare room, and running a cable up the stairs or drilling through the ceiling in order to feed a cable up towards my office was not feasible.Looking into alternative solutions I discovered TP-Link Powerline which uses your mains power as "extra cabelling" for an Ethernet connection that can pass data through and essentially allows you to use your wall sockets as Ethernet extensions.I decided to go for an option that has power passthrough so that I could plug another plug into the adaptors and not end up losing a plug socket.Set up as easy as plugging one Powerline adaptor into the plug socket next to my router and the other one next to my desk upstairs in the office. I then connected my router via Ethernet to the adapter plugged into the wall downstairs, and another Ethernet cable from the adapter upstairs into the laptop (or in the case of these pictures the PS4) that required an Ethernet connection. Flipping the wall power switch for both of the adaptors power them immediately, and they automatically pair with eachother meaning no setup is required.I now get the full speed of my internet connection upstairs without long cables and any noticeable lag or reduction in service. This starter kit is perfect for anyone who needs to extend that Ethernet connection through the house.

These adapters were so easy to setup, literally plug and play - recommend the optional pairing which takes another few seconds for the additional security. My setup is having the source adapter on one wall of the house by the router in the living room, with the destination on the direct opposite wall of the house by my PC in the study. On this AV1000 model I get approx. 125 Mbps between my PC and hard wired devices (e.g. NAS), or around 15 MB/s. This is a little disappointing, as the frequency reported in the tpPLC utility (also recommended) fluctuates between 600-800 Mbps, so the actual speeds are less than a quarter of that. However, it so much more stable than my wireless AC connection and faster than my more reliable wireless N connection,so I'm in a better place regardless. One important thing to note: I updated the firmware in an attempt to improve speeds. On doing so, I discovered that I received V3 of the adapters, not the V2 that is in the title. I then discovered that there is no V3 listed on the UK support page for these adapters at the TP-Link website. However, I found V3 firmware via their Swedish website instead. They were labelled EU but I went ahead anyway as the previous version was also listed on the Swedish website and it matched the firmware reported by the adapters in tpPLC, so they appear to be identical. The adapters are working fine on the new firmware, but speeds are still the same.

I purchased this more expensive version as the cheaper versions may not have the plug socket pass through and also whilst the cheaper versions may indicate a 600 m/bit through put the actual individual port are limited to 100 m/bit each which is the equivalent of about 10 megabytes a second which is less bandwidth than some internet connections. This version has full gigabit ports each capable of 1,000 m/bit or equivalent to 100 megabytes a second. The plugs installed flawlessly however note that you only need 1 input from your router, do not plug 2 inputs in, that crashed my router :)Since I have installed this from my downstairs living room to my upstairs office my ping has reduced slightlyand I have not suffered any dropped connections like I would occasionally get on WiFi.My only slight disappointment is that my max bandwidth was about 220 m/bit or the equivalent of 22 megabytes a second far short of the maximum of approximately 5 times this, however this is still better that WiFi and twice the throughout of the cheaper power line adapters where the ports are the bottleneck. The reduced throughout is to be expected as the electrical system in my home plus distance will have an impact.Overall I will give this a big thumbs up as so far worked great.Update: had this up and running for 10 days now and no issues whatoever so very happy !

I already had a powerline network with TPLink AV500s for the smart TV but due to old wiring it used to drop out now and again and didn't reach remoter sockets at all well. I plugged one of these in as the primary connection to the router and immediately everything speeded up and got a better signal. The pairing button works the same way so I didn't need to read the instructions to join the existing network but I found later that resetting the network and pairing the AV500s to this gave even better results. It doesn't have the flashing lights of the AV500s and they are on the side so hard to see in certain configurations. A red centre light indicates poor reception, which occurs depending on how it feels but I have not needed to reset the network since installing and I get a nice reliable 350-400Mbps from the router to the TV in the next room and an amazing 74Mbps in the garage. Considering the primary is by necessity plugged into an extension, it's impressive. They are better value than the 1200s , if uglier but still give a very good performance, it was worth buying them and I used the other one as athe primary to give the same boost at the office.

Simply perfect, straight out of the box. They came with 2 ethernet cables, quite short to be honest, but more than enough from the Virgin Media modem to the mains. Plugged in the 1st in the mains, VM modem, wait 1 minute top to recognise the connection, attach the second to the mains next to my PS4, wait for the signal, plug the cable to the console. Done.Be aware that you will not get 600mb! That's the max transfer rate between the two devices. Then it's up to the cable quality, status and age of your electrical line, the device ethernet port you will attach, your broadband contract and other factors. I have Virgin Media VIVID 200 Optical Fibre and on the PS4 I tested with the Network software by Playstation with a result of 65 Mbps download,8 Mbps upload and 16 ms ping. Way more than enough for online gaming, download games/updates and video streaming (Netflix / Amazon Video).Even if on the instruction it is recommended to not use the adaptor on an extension cable, I had to do it and it works flawlessly.I bought these powerlines (TP-Link TL-PA4010PKIT V2.20 600 Passthrough Powerline Adapter Starter Kit) 8 days ago, no issues so far.

I was a Devolo fan for many years but their latest plugs are dire, overpriced and don’t last long. I decided to bite the bullet and buy several 2 pack kits to replace my devolo plugs. Well first thing is, 1, 4 plugs cost me less than a single devolo plug, 2, so much easier to set up, plug it in push the button and away you go, a lot less hassle than the devolo set up. Considering how much cheaper these units are compared to devolo there has been no performance loss and even if in the future I have to replace any dead units then I would rather do it at this price rather than the ridiculous price devolo charge. One issue if you use a Apple Mac, the tp link software is not compatible (yet)with Mac OS catalina - if you do a google search you will find a link on the tp link forum that gives a link to an official beta version that works fine on Catalina and does the job until they officially release a catalina version - or you can duel boot to Mojave and use the app that way, not a show stopper as to be honest you really don’t need to use the app that much and I can deal with the hassle at this price. Top marks.

I already had the TL-WPA4220KIT starter kit from TP-Link and wanted to add a couple of extra Ethernet points and this did the job perfectly. Easy enough to pair up and works very well. And the passthrough socket is useful as it means you're not losing a socket.I only had one slight hiccup when initially pairing it up with my existing network. The kit I already had consists of one non-wifi unit which is connected to the router, and two wifi units which are positioned elsewhere. When I paired the new adaptors with the existing non-wifi unit, they worked straight away but the other two existing wifi units were no longer recognised. I paired those up with the existing non-wifi unit, and then found that the new adaptors were no longer recognised. The solution was to pair the new adaptors with one of the existing wifi units, instead of pairing them with the one plugged into the router. I've got no idea why this was happening, or why my solution worked, but at least I got it working.

I bought these for my mum as she was fed up with the wireless connection dropping out on her pc which is upstairs and the router downstairs. They are really simple to setup and I had them up and running in less than 10 minutes.Great connection quality and she now gets the full speed from her fibre broadband. They have been fitted for several weeks now and she hasn't experienced any issues with them they just work as intended. The pass-through is great as it means you don't lose a power socket and they are small so work ok with power extensions but it is recommended you use them in the actual wall socket if possible. This wasn't an option where my mum has the router but it is working fine with both of them in extension leads due to the position of the pc and router. These are more than adequate for most people but if you are paying for very fast fibre broadband you may want to consider going for a higher spec model that can match your broadband speed.

I bought this to replace my TalkTalk powerline adaptors. I recently upgraded to 76Mb and then found that Talk Talk cant get me any faster than 52MB, this after a TalkTalk engineer and BT engineer visited, and also found my speed over the powerline dropped to 25Mb when it got to my desk. I installed this and after reading the instructions and resetting and then pairing the devices which is very easy, just hold down the button, I found I now get the same speed at my desk over the power lines as I do at the rooter. So no complaints and as it a high speed unit I hope it is future proof when I finally get speeds closer to what I am paying for and even one day closer to Gigabit speeds but I am notholding my breath for BT and Talk Talk to finally join the modern world in terms of fibre speeds to homes. I live in Kingston on Thames not outer Mongolia!!So in summary, mission accomplished, zero loss of speed compared to speedtest.net measurements at the router

I have given them 5* for gaming, though in truth this is irrelevant for me. I now have four of these in total and I swear by them. Buy the fastest you can afford, bearing in mind if you mix different types they will all automatically configure themselves to work at the speed of the slowest one, some have more than one port, some have a socket 'through socket' (so you don't waste a socket), and some are wireless too. And always go by Amazon customer reviews. I have one in my Lounge connected to my router which effectively enables anywhere I plug another one in my house to be Network ready. I then have one in the kitchen, one in the bedroom and one in the garage, each of these rooms effectively now having a hard-wired network port.

Excellent piece(s) of kit. I was having some connection problems with my PS4 on WiFi even though it's only about 5 metres away from the router and on the same floor of the house.Bought these and they literally took 2 minutes at most to set up. Plug them in near each other (I just put them both in the same double socket), press the pair button and wait for them to sync. After that connect the cables to the router and the plug by my Playstation and set to wired connection.Worked straight away, no need to fiddle or add any settings, download speeds have been noticeably higher and far fewer latency issues.I would definitely recommend these over a set without passthrough as not losing the plugsocket makes a big difference.-S-
