We have a very difficult house for WiFi and I bought the Devolo kit to replace an old, slow powerline/WiFi system that only covered half of the house. I have tried a conventional BT Whole Home mesh system that had several problems and would have needed 5 nodes in total to cover the whole house. The 2-1-3 kit covers the whole house with just the LAN adapter and two WiFi adapters. The kit comes with a quite short multi-language installation booklet specific to the 2-1-3 kit. It is actually quite good. You can also download a complete Magic 2 instruction manual in English which is about 60 pages long and extremely difficult to understand. There are internal inconsistencies in the manual, unexplained terminology, poor identification of buttons and which contradicts the installation booklet in some areas. My recommendation is, if you must read it, wait until after you have successfully installed the network. There is also a Devolo Magic app that you can download which purports to aid installation and a more comprehensive and fairly unintelligible PC/Mac program called Cockpit. I recommend that you only install these after the installation. The installation is in two parts: setting up the powerline connections between the LAN adapter and the two WiFi adapters and then setting up the WiFi connections. For the first part you need the LAN adapter and both WiFi adapters plugged in close to one another and with the LAN adapter connected via ethernet to the router. For the second part you need the LAN adapter and one WiFi adapter only. After that, you just plug in the two WiFi adapters where you want them in the house, wait for the LEDs to go white and start using the network. If you follow the installation booklet exactly, including cloning the router name and password settings, you can set everything up in about 10 minutes. I had one false start because I accidentally pressed the router WPS button on the router twice. However, I went back to the beginning and everything worked perfectly. It recognised my NAS server without any problems and a Sonos box. The network name and password hadn't changed so my PC, iPads and phones all picked up the new network automatically. Only my Sky Box gave some problems. I can also move seamlessly between the router WiFi signal and the Devolo mesh signals. If you clone your existing router name and password, you don't need the WiFi key from the back of one of the WiFi adapters (they have different keys). You also don't need the SSID code from the back of the LAN adapter. So, keep everything simple, and it should go smoothly. So far the network has been fast and rock steady, but I have docked one star for the terrible app and cockpit software and the very poor on-line instruction book. To Devolo: please get whoever wrote the installation booklet that came with the kit to rewrite your on-line manual to make it intelligible.

Upgraded from develo 1200 and they are literally twice as fast. Setting them up is more of a pain there is no longer a manual add facility using the code off the back of them you have to press the button on one then on the others. If you buy the WIFI ones TURN OFF YOUR MAIN WIFI, it conflicts with the MESH , the 1200's did exactly the same thing and it degrades the WIFI massively. Our conservatory which is a mega long cable run used to get 30MB and now gets 60-80MB which is plugged into our sky box films now download twice as fast.If you DONT use the wifi version anywhere IE are LAN only > the app doesn't work on IOS or Anroid > Only deverlop Cockpit desktop for PC or MAC> its been waiting fora firmware update from develo since September > appears it needs at least 1 wifi point for the management app to function on mobile device> seems they didn't expect anyone to not want there "crappy" wifi > and it is crappy.I initially bought the wifi version but the "mesh" wasn't very good, lots of signal loss , bad handover, no WIFI 6 / AX > so sent them back and bought the LAN version (which is brilliant) and then replaced my router with a Netgear RAX200 WIFI 6 router and hung another RAX200 Netgear WIFI 6 router (set in AP access point mode) off a LAN MAGIC 2 the other end of my house - Net result is rock solid Ethernet Everywhere I need it in the house and mad fast WIFI 6 AX covering the whole house. What I'd like to see for Magic 31- is a 1/2.5GB port on the ethernet LAN port and on the triple - as although the LAN triple can do 2400MB's it can only do 1GB per port > with routers / Access points now supporting 2.5GB this would save me having run a cat 7 cable in my house to the secondary Access point - which defeats the object that Magic 2 is supposed to avoid2 - On the WIFI version Wifi 6 / AX with ideally triple band and 6 or 12 streams and work on the "mesh" handover between wifi points and automation around channels3 - more speed you can never have enough speed :)4 - A less flakey cockpit 5.1.3 it crashes lots on windows 10 , 5.1.2 runs fine > no idea why or the differenceSummary is LAN MAGIC 2 ones are brilliant , WIFI ones are "OK". You'd probably be better of buying the 1200's if you just want wifi as I couldn't see any difference between magic and 1200's but if you want rock solid LAN performance then Magic 2 is the way to go use your existing wifi and hang a "matching Access point / AP or router in running in AP mode" off the other end and you'll get amazing matched mesh wifi (assuming your router and AP are decent)

Our house is large and on 2 floors and is old with thick walls and located in an Essex village but we have Fibre in to the house with Sky. The router is on the top floor and in a rear room.Like most homes we have a lot of technology that uses the internet but the Sky WiFi signal was poor and their boosters didn't do a lot to help so in 2017 I invested in 2 x Coredy N300 extenders and they boosted the WiFi but there were still issues in some areas and also with loss of connection. My family put up with it until just recently where I got the ultimatum that either I sort it or I'm out - harsh but probably fair...I'd been researching for a long time alternatives but I didn't want to spend on some other extender etc only to find they did nothing more.I had looked at the Powerline option but wasn't convinced due to what I'd read and the cost but then I came across the Magic 2 and while expensive they were highly recommended so I bit the bullet and bought them on the hope that they'd do well and I'd still have a roof over my head!So I'm pleased to say these are awesome. So easy to set up and working like a dream.I put one upstairs in my son's room (opposite side of the house to where the router is) and used ethernet cables to plug in to his PS4 and Sky box while the other tech uses the WiFi signal. The PS4 and Sky box get great speed and the WiFi is brilliant on the entire top floor now.I put the other downstairs in the main living room (front of house) and used ethernet cables to plug in to the Samsung TV and the Sky box. Same result as the top floor! Great speed for TV and Sky and terrific WiFi on the bottom floor.I still have the N300's setup so can connect to those too but so far no need to do so.To say we are pleased would be an understatement and as it stands I'm still allowed to live there so things are looking up :-)Now there are other Powerline products available that are cheaper and perhaps they'd do the trick too but for me the 2 adaptors with 2 x LAN ports in each plus the pass-thru sockets in each made it a clear choice that I do not regret. At the very least, if you suffer from poor connections at home do have a good look at Powerline products as they seem to be far superior to extenders etc.

Let's start with the negative points:1. The installation is a bit fiddly. There are actually only a small number of steps and the installation leaflet has got photos and clear instructions in several languages (I can only vouch for English and French instructions). However, depending on timings and how far apart the adapters are placed, things may not work first time. Piece of advice: it is very easy to move adapters after the system is set up, so place adapters in convenient locations to check on status lights or push buttons during the installation.2. The iPhone app is very minimal and has subtly different instructions than the leaflet in the box. I can't see much use for the app beyond simple diagnostics at the moment.Bear in mind this is at the time I am writing this: the app can be improved independently from the physical products.Once you go over the initial setup, this concept is very good: mesh wifi adapters need power and a dedicated network to synch-up between them. Using the powerline for both makes sense and removes the clutter of cables and power adapters.I assume data transfer measurements can be significantly different from one setup to the next. For me, the wifi signal is strong and provides maximum bandwidth to all corners of my house (that is: the same max download/upload values as when I connect my laptop directly into the broadband router with an Ethernet cable)The Ethernet ports on the adapters are a nice addition for devices that do not move, such as TVs, printers or speakers. On the topic of speakers, I have not encountered any problems with Sonos speakers.Overall very happy with this product.

Isn’t it great when something just WORKS?!I have just built a shed at the bottom of the garden, about 20m from the house and a further 10 metres from the router, which is at the front of the house. WiFi signal in the shed was non-existent. Having researched the options, I thought I’d take a punt on these. The electrical supply to the shed is from the main fuse board / consumer unit, but with a secondary MK ‘garage’ mini-consumer unit within the shed, incorporating RCD etc.Suffice it to say, I was hopeful, but by no means certain, that Powerline adaptors would work, but they did ! Straight out of the box! No need for any software downloads / apps etc. I simply followed the instructions and plugged the WiFi adapter into the shed, the second adapter into a socket near the router, then connecting the latter two with the cable provided.Initially, the home button flashed red on the WiFi adapter and I feared the worst. The instructions advised ‘manual installation’ in this event, the first step of which was to again plug in the WiFi adapter. That was all I needed to do - the lights then became solid white, and the WiFi signal in the shed is perfect. I simply entered the Devolo WiFi key on my various devices.I guess you do get what you pay for - I agree they are expensive, but arguably better than throwing good money after bad.Our TV WiFi is very temperamental, much to the children’s annoyance. I am now tempted to save up for an additional adapter to wire in the TV, which I hope (and now expect) will be equally successful. They can enjoy their TV, and I can hide away in my shed! ?

In general I am happy with this product and it has improved wifi coverage in my home.Set up for me was not as easy as the promotional info suggested. In fairness this was probably due to the fact we live in an older 1930's house. We have wifi and 4G problems in the house which is why I purchased the kit.The set-up guide is clear and easy to follow - the problem comes when the electrical configuration in your house does not conform with the set-up process requirements. For example you have to plug the main unit into a mains socket (NOT an extension lead) and plug it in to your router. I guess for most that would not be an issue but for me - this required a lot of relocating of things.Second the signal strength is nothing like as strong as suggested - they work fine when your in the same room but the signal does not really give coverage beyond that. Probably not an issue with new houses with stud walls but in an old house with brick walls - don't expect too much from these little gadgets. Also be aware they need to be upright and in a well ventilated location (they do get very hot). Again this was a challenge for me in my lounge and we have had to move furniture around to ensure the unit gets adequate ventilation. In short - my expectations were probably too high - I thought I was going to see massive improvement with super-fast wifi coverage right through my home. In reality I can now get onto the internet in all the main rooms - which was not possible before.

Used this to extend my home network to a Outside garage work room that is 14 metres away from my house and provide WiFi in the garden too.. I did not want to run an Ethernet cable, too much hassle, and would need a switch/hub installation in the garage. Now have WiFi in my garden all the way to the boundary 30m garden and Lan access from the office for 2 devices.Speeds are good - only sometimes 10 to 15% less than speeds in the house. Also worth mentioning- the power to my outside work room is via the main house consumer fuse box on a separate ring to the house wall power points and then through a 2nd fused consumer box in the garage. So both devolo units are as far away from each other as they possibly could be power line wise with a couple of "hops" at least in the path too, it is old wiring too.Only niggle on set up was I had to hold /press the reset button on the router side devolo adapter to get the white light flashing. This method is in the instructions trouble shooting section. You can change passwords; secure the access points; set power saving modes; schedule off time; and do everything you would need to via the app.I am really impressed with the speeds, 3 of us in the garden all on WiFi, either surfing, streaming and uploading, no noticeable problems and great connection.Web app is easy to use to if you know what you are doing.

First of all I have used Devolo 500 power line adapters for years I have been contemplating an upgrade we had 3. The main office has the triple ethernet one and I have one in the living room which allows me to connect my slingbox which i havent been able to use for years. I have one in my room and one in my brothers The connections show as 1.7G down to 700 but all in all they are working..Installation was not the same as my old Devolo 500s these adapters no show up on the network like other computers whih i wasnt expecting. this has settings for the device to rename using a webinterface. It has some vlan settings on but i dont really understand hat they do as the instructions dont really explainit from what ive read...Each plug you plug it in press the button then press the button on the main and the light goes solid white when its paired. I would recommend these to anyone who cant run ethernet through there house but needs a solid connection.. that is what these devices do. Easy setup plug and play I havnt tried to pair them with my old adapters yet.Do some research I chose these over other brands because I have had the old version of these for around 5-6 years. and they still work if i cant get them to pair up i will donate them to a friend.Best buy for ages

I used this product to provide WiFi and ethernet connectivity from a BT Smart Hub to several PCs and portable devices in a large business premises with thick walls. I selected Devolo Magic 2 as I had previous satisfactory experience of using Devolo dLAN 500 at home (still working well after 6 years or more.) Set up was fairly easy. Only delay was in realising that initial pairing of the satellite units should be done by plugging into a socket close to the base unit before relocating where they are to be used. While very comprehensive, the installation manual could be a little clearer on this point. As this is a mesh system, there was no need to use the security keys on back of units to logon existing devices to the Devolo network; they were automatically connected via the Devolo network to the BT Smart Hub. Two business PCs linked to the Devolo satellite units by ethernet cable are functioning very well. WiFi signal is now strong throughout the entire building. I had been concerned that the system would not function properly as the base unit is plugged into an electrical socket on ground floor while the two satellite units are located upstairs on a different electrical circuit. No problem on that score. Very pleased with Devolo and would highly recommend.

I live in a house built in the 1930's, it's very solid and some rooms just don't get a good signal with wifi, we had to run long ethernet cables everywhere due to this, which is unsightly and not ideal. I had tried powerline kits in the past, but due to our power sockets being close to the floor they just didn't fit. Luckily these adaptors have the plug right at the bottom of the unit, so they fit, you can see what I mean from the picture. You cant use these on an extension lead, it must be plugged straight into the wall.Installation was easy, I plugged the first unit into the wall, then plugged It into my router via an ethernet cable, then plugged the 2nd unit in downstairs, you have to wait for the light to turn from red to white to see that it's working, it was extremely fast and worked within about 1 minute. I checked the connection and it worked and was just as fast as when we ran a very long cable from the router upstairs to our utility room downstairs, so no more messy cables.Another nice touch is that they don't take up a plug socket, as you can see in my picture it has an integrated plug socket, so I could plug my lamp back in after installation.

I've been using the TP-Link AV600 Passthrough PowerLine Adapters (just a pair) in my three storey house. They worked, but were not as quick and up to the task of relocating my router which is currently in the downstairs cupboard. The connection would stall and devices weren't able to stream media efficiently. I got these Devolo on a Lightning deal and I have to say, I am impressed. Each device gets it own IP, which means you can check them independently, there is software which monitors the connection and you can see how the connection is routed through your PowerLine Adapters. All in all, I'm impressed. They aren't cheap, but so far really good.I can relocate my router to another room now and not lose any signal or connection. The setup was a bit fiddly, I ended up having to reset and start over, so from that perspective it wasn't flawless from my experience. However I would happily get this brand again, or add to my existing setup if needs be. Develo do have a triple adapter but no double with just LAN (there is one with WiFi though). The adapters are quite chunky and tall so make sure you have room when you plug these in.

Had a virgin hub but in an old house with thick walls there were a lot of complaints from teenage kids about lagging/can't both play at the same time etc. We ran a wire from the hub to one of the computers which helped but didn't look great, and a wifi extended again helped but didn't deliver good enough speeds apparently for both to stream online games etc. So I thought i'd try this to both give a "semi-wired" connection as whilst it is a wire from the socket to the device it won't be as good as a wire direct from the hub .. .and it should give good wifi throughout. One of the adapters in the first kit wouldn't register, but the replacement seems to be working fine.Easy to connect and no kids yelling down the stairs yet about connectivity. Strength of wifi signal definitely improved throughout house, so hopefully with them both "semi-wired" with the ethernet from the plugs it will keep everyone happy. I guess time will tell, but so far so good and if it has indeed fixed the problem then it is a very neat solution!

This item was ordered accidentally and was not compatible with my existing, non-Magic, Develo Powerline adapter set up (I have the standard ones that preceeded the Magic range). However, in true Develo fashion, this item has great build quality, ust like the ones I currently use. However, as it was incompatible I could not test it.My current installation, however, consists of all Develo 1200+ powrrline ethernet adapters and they wrok perfectly in a house where signal transmissions are significantly reduced by the walls.I now have the main one connected to my router in an upstairs bedroom, one in my upstairs office, one in the downstairs lounge, one in the kitchen and one in the cabin in the garden (this one receives it's signals through the power cabes even though it has it's own fusebox!).Anywhere you go in my house or garden you can now get a strong WiFi signal and it is superbly fast.I may not have used this one, however I know the Develo range are the best on the market.

Easy to set up, and cloned our router SSID no problem. After 5 days of use, all still working fine. We had major issues with poor WiFi connection through our solid walls, with our Virgin 200 service reduced to less than 15 mbps download and constantly dropping completely, even though we live in a small, 2 bedroom flat. We’ve installed an adapter in both bedrooms and are now getting a stable 60mbps download, and 12 mbps upload on WiFi in both rooms. We are using Ethernet connections from the adapters to two Mac desktops and getting in excess of 200 mbps download and 20 mbps upload on both. Early days of course, but if the system continues to perform this well it will be money well spent. One thing I have noticed is that the devices do run quite hot, but I suppose this is to be expected. I can imagine that the complexity, and quality, of your domestic wiring would make a difference. Our’s is quite new and simple, with a single ring main.

I bought these to replace my dlan 500s, which had worked very well for several years, but with my wife and I both working from home the system was getting overloaded. I have a router which provides both 4G and 5G, and this switches invisibly between the two to get the fastest possible connection, so I will have three devices on 5G and 1 on 4G. It works perfectly in my garden office, which has its own fuse box -- as did the dlan 500s. When I ran into trouble with the dlans technical support were extremely helpful, inviting me to send them photos of my set up so they could diagnose the problem. And, last but not least, the whole thing is extremely easy to set up.Before I came to devolo I used boosters made by another market leading company -- try as I might I could never get them to work! Because I had had good experience with devolo in the past I happily ignored the negative reviews: I suggest you do the same.
