I delayed reviewing this Totes brolly until it'd served me through the winter (or not, as the case may be.) It's great! The umbrella holds off rain, as it should, and definitely keeps its shape in winds that would wreck a weaker model. The true test, in my view, is what happens when it does blow out - it passed with honours! I just tugged it back gently and my brolly sprang back into shape, still as wind-resistant as before. After six months of fairly heavy use there is no fraying, spoke weakness or any other kind of damage. This umbrella has a release button, which I find helpful on leaving the house, and needs to be closed manually. Closing it does take a small effort, which could be a caution to users with hand or wrist disabilities. I think it probably needs to be a bit heavy: a collapsible umbrella with such resilience is quite an engineering feat.Of the hundreds of umbrellas I've owned, only one was better than this. It cost £130 (I lost it.) That was both prettier and larger than this one; I've deducted one star for the boring colour scheme along with the reduced - but still plenty big enough - size. All my other brollies have broken in strong winds, including the supposedly windproof

Bought this way back. Didn't think it would last as countless other regular brollies I've had haven't; also it felt a little flimsy. However, it has lasted. I still got it, and it hasn't weaken or anything. I regularly see abandoned brollies scattered across the streets after a spate of devastating weather. A tragedy indeed! I would encourage their owners to invest in a wind proof one, particularly if they can't tidy up after themselves (extenuating circumstances notwithstanding). As a plus, this Totes design has a button which opens and closes (albeit not fully) the umbrella.

i bought this umbrella in Jan 2014 & have just ordered a replacement as a spoke has broken. I used it on a daily basis throughout the rainy winter, I dont drive so wanted an umbrella that would stand up to wind & rain as I walked to the bus stop & waited there for bus to work. I live at the coast & it can be extremely windy. The umbrella has never turned inside out & has kept me dry for 15 months, so I am very pleased with it. It folds up small enough to go in a large handbag & is not too heavy. My only criticism is colour is boring but is still best umbrella I've ever had.

5 year update:Umbrella is still going strong! These Scottish storms really test this thing (sometimes blowing it inside out (it’s ok, it flips back just fine))I whole-heartedly suggest this umbrella to everyone.Original review:I just got my umbrella today and there was a strong wind out, so I decided to whip it out and give it a test!Looking up the weather for today, it says gusts of 65-75mph. No clue what it is in the video, but it's enough to pull the umbrella well enough to jolt about when I'm trying to show you the ribs haha

This is the 3rd of these that I've bought, having lost one and given one to my daughter who coveted mine.Who would think you could get excited about an umbrella, but I really do think this one is worth the premium. The design really does seem to cope better with windy conditions, it feels more substantial than the average umbrella. The auto open/close is great to keep you dry when getting out of and into the car on a wet day in Glasgow. Can't recommend it highly enough. Shame it doesn't come in other colours.

this is the second one of these i have bought after leaving one in the pub :( does what it says - you can look around at your fellow commuters with a sense of superiority as you step out of the train knowing that you won't be affected by the heavy winds. folds down to a size which will fit snugly in a messenger bag or anything of a similar size. canopy size is suitable for one person only.

Even though the structural elements have a "flimsy" feel about them, it looks like the umbrella will do its job. It has yet to be tested in windy conditions but it has already passed an initial "light wind" test during which I saw a number of umbrellas of other people flip over while mine only threatened to take me gliding above the side-walk. So far - so good.

Early days but really pleased with the umbrella. Took it away with me to North Yorkshire - rained all the time I was there and was very windy. Umbrella did not turn inside out once. Great design and appearance could too, if a little conservative. Really comfortable handle as well. Would happily buy more as gifts as am so confident about the product.

I received this Umbrella during a UK howling wind and torrential rain storm , so I was pleased that I could perhaps stay dry when dashing to the gym or the shops from the car, which is where I keep my brolly. This one works well. It is really good quality and I’m glad I bought it. I hope it’ll last me for years. I’d recommend it to anyone .

I am very pleased with my Totes umbrella it's just the right size, smaller ones are too flimsy. It looks well made. I havn't used it yet as its been Sunny for a change. My last one which was one of Great Ideas Black Windproof Umbrella, from eshopdeals4u which has been rubbish.

I love this umbrella. It has survived very bad weather including strong gales and very heavy rain that have tried to batter it. It dries quickly and opens easily. I have just bought my second, not because the first broke but because I left the original on a bus !

A great umbrella, small enough to Fi into a bag when folded, but large enough to give you all round protection from the rain without being the size of a golf umbrella. Works well in the wind also, without blowing inside out. My only negative was I fij d

I bought one of these lovely umbrellas years ago, lasted years, ordered another one so happy with it ordered another two, one for the car, one spare, and one in my bag I don't like getting wet and looking drowned. Excellent and I would recommend.

This umbrella is quite heavy. In the recent strong winds it inverted, and the struts are damaged. The vents were not big enough to relieve the pressure. I do not recommend this umbrella, better to get one design to invert under extreme wind.

Looks well made and windproof, with wind vents in canopy. Opens and closes easily. Neat elastic loop which goes around your wrist, if you want your hand free. It might also stop you leaving it on the bus!Haven't tried it in the wind yet
