I purchased the Fladon Brolly spike - as recommended on Amazon - to accompany the Sports Brella hoping it would give extra support on windy days. Unfortunately the two pieces of kit are incompatible - and it's deffo not because I'm an aged - even female! - Silver Surfer of 71. There are two silver screw extensions on the Brella pole which mean it will not fit into the Fladon spike - at least not far enough in to tighten and secure.So a well presented and quickly delivered piece of kit - but not useful in it's present state. I'll see if I can saw a slit in the Fladon spike to make it work - can't be bothered to return. But AMAZON should not recommend the two pieces of kit together.

It arrived very quickly, is robust, easy to use and lighter than I had expected. I had also thought that I would need a mallet to get it in the ground but you can simply push down on the lever bit with your foot as it's very strongly made, then use the same lever to pull it out again.So far I have used it in conjunction with a pretty top heavy Ultra Fishing Umbrella 2.2m width, and it kept it totally stable on a sandy beach all day; to be fair, it wasn't a windy day but it looked as though it would still work in pretty adverse conditions.

Bought this to use with a fishing umbrella mainly for use on the beach as a shelter.The spike is probably long enough to hold the brolly steady in the solid ground but could be longer for use in sand. Having said that it worked well on the beach in a light breeze. Not tried in a good wind. Like the fact that you can press it in with your foot. Quite a sturdy piece of equipment and worth the money paid.

I needed an appropriate support for an extremely large diameter fishing umbrella. After some time spent on research I decided upon this spike. I find it essential for stabilising the umbrella, even in little or no wind. They are inseparable bits of kit. A robust mallet is also necessary. In addition I carry a small block of wood to absorb impact as the spike is driven into the ground with said mallet.

I have a Korus fishing chair with a brolly arm but to be used on breezy days it requires a second arm at the foot of the chair for stability, but this makes folding the chair more difficult. This clever gadget pushes into even hard ground very easily and the bottom of the brolly is held securely in place, it also gives additional stability to the chair by anchoring it to the ground.

A great accessory for a fishing brolly in rain and shine. This is the third one I have purchased. Not because I need 3 - but because when packing away fishing gear during rain I unscrew the nut and remove the brolly and forget to pull the spike out of the ground leaving it there for the next lucky fisherman. Note to manufacturer. Perhaps consider painting them yellow or orange?

Bought this to use with my fishing brolly, very impressed.It isn't massively heavy or cumbersome and saves on having to struggle to get the spike on the brolly itself into the ground. My only criticism would be that the fastening mechanism will mark the brolly pole-but it isn't essential to use this as the tube itself is sufficient to hold the brolly up.Good piece of kit.

Just as it say's on the box. Received first thing this morning,so the early arrival insighted me to go fishing and try it out. absolutely excellant, it looked a bit flimsy at first glance, but i need not have worried as it went in the ground very easily and held my 50in brolly superbly. I recommended this product 100% and I give the company 100% also. Thank you guys.

Spike is perfect . I fish in old gravel pits and banks are very hard , which result in having to use rubber mallet to imbed brolly point far enough in to withstand wind ,however spike tapped down as far as possible allows just gentle pressure to gain a foothold for brolly spike to work .Neighbouring angler had to give up using his brolly but mine kept in position

Used for a fishing brolly. It's good because I can push this into the ground with my foot and then put the brolly pole into it and also into the ground if required. The thumb screw then tightens up against the pole and hey presto. Sharp(ish) spikes that so far have gone through most surfaces (thankfully not my bucket or bag yet) including packed down aggregate.

Really useful I have used it in breezy weather and it managed to hold the umbrella pretty well, easy to push into the ground but had to loop a rope through to get the leverage to get it out. Have since ordered another and looking at the weather will be using them in strong winds soon. Very good value for money and arrived earlier than stated.

I always thought this was a needless gadget but I must say it is very useful. Stick it in the ground and then wrestle with the umberella afterwards. It's easier in some respects. Two small prong holes instead of one big whopper banged in using a heavy mallet. I use it in my garden lawn too when the sun's out (so hardly ever haha).

Sturdy and well made. Arrived quickly and before due date. TOP TIP in order to protect the spikes and more importantly, your hands and any kit in your bag. I purchased some 12mm hiking stick ferrules with metal inserts. Simply push them over the spikes when not in use. More time fishing, less time at A&E department.

Best gadget ever works as described so easy to use and saves hammers mallets and comes out of the ground so easily and stores on the pole one of the best gadgets I have ever bought just stand on the bar and hey presto up goes your shelter.it was as described arrived on time well packaged would use again

I was a bit dubious about the products sturdiness. But the quality and build are superb. For the price this is a cracking bit of kit. I thought that I would need a mallet to knock it in but it has a strong angled piece that you push in with your foot. Simple but clever design.
