When I was asked to review this automatic umbrella I was delighted as I live in Scotland and rain is something I know a lot about, we get a lot ☺ I’m also never without an umbrella as you never know when its going to start pouring it down. I’ll admit to being amazed at the quality of the build of this umbrella when it arrived. I’m not known for buying cheap umbrellas and I can tell you my last one cost over £30 and was created by a very famous British designer, so when I took delivery of this today I was astounded at the quality of it from the get go.Firstly, the actual canopy of the umbrella is larger than normal and will take two people snuggling up easily,perfect for when I’m out with my man and we get caught in a rain shower. Secondly, the canopy print is simply stunning! Vibrant colours, designer quality print and superb to look at. I’ve never seen the point in a brolly that is boring and this beauty is far from boring, its beautiful. Secondly, its automatic! How does that work? …Well, there is a button on the handle that you press and it opens up literally instantly in its full glory. Big, bold and beautiful and ready to protect you whilst you look good whilst you are out in the weather. Even the material of the canopy feels of thicker quality than standard umbrellas and more along the likes of designer brand quality. There is one word of warning though, hold the umbrella pointing away from you and forwards, at arms length before you press that button because it opens so swiftly and the canopy is large so you risk it opening in your face if you don’t do it that way. How do I know this? ha! that is exactly what I did, opened it pointing upwards and close to me and it missed my face by millimetres as it opened, literally. Its superb that its automatic but follow my advice and you won’t make the mistake I made the first time I opened it. All my umbrellas to date have been manual, so it was and is a real treat to use an automatic one. I like it, I like it a lot.I then had to figure out how to close it, first trying to press the button thinking that would close it but no, it didn’t. I finally figured out that all I needed to do was press it downwards from the centre of the canopy and it pushes down to lock into the handle again. Easy.You get a smart cover for it and the handle is rubberized which means it is extremely comfortable to hold and you won’t lose your grip and have it blow away if its windy as well as rainy out there. I know a lot about wind as well, living in rural Scotland. I’ve never held in my hands a more comfortable umbrella and that is the truth, even my Lulu one doesn’t beat this for comfort.The center pole is crafted from strong aluminum and the durable ribs are designed to withstand harsh winds. Perfect. I so love the pattern and this umbrella is available in several designs to suit my mood and what I am wearing etc. I’m definitely loving this 100% and can say with all honesty you will not be disappointed. In fact, you’ll be amazed at the quality and the build for the price here.10/10 for build quality, design, functionality, durability etc. I love everything about it and it fits nicely inside my shoulder bag for taking out with me.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The canopy can then be tidied up and secured with the velcro strap.It has a small rubberised handle. I'm going to summarise my review into pros and cons, to keep things brief. After these bullet-points, I'll write about my experience with Plemo customer support.Pros:+ Handle has a nice texture+ Button is easy to press+ Umbrella fully extends when button is pressed, so you can get out the house very quickly. Don't forget to point the umbrella outside before you extend it, and make sure there's nobody who'll get hit!+ Shelter is nice and wide, easy to deal with rain coming in at an angle+ Lightweight enough to not tire out your hands/arms.Cons:- Rotating the handle causes the whole of the top of the umbrella to rotate for a brief moment, so it shakes around a bit as you walk.I guess this is so that the umbrella can "talk" to you, letting you know if there's a strong wind coming from some direction - something like that!- Travel pouch is hard to put on, as it seems you'd have to fold up the umbrella perfectly symmetrically to fit it in. A shopping bag works just as well, and is a hell of a lot easier to work with.- (It doesn't fit in my coat pocket - it's just an inch too tall. That was extremely convenient!)- Once you've pressed the button the collapse the top of the umbrella, you have to push it down before you can press the button and enlarge it all again. Not really a problem if you know your route well, and if you don't, it just take a few seconds to pop back up.Customer support experience:My umbrella actually arrived as an unfinished product - the hooks that joins one of the arms was not properly joined to its pairing piece, and an adjacent piece of plastic had snapped, thus that arm did not function and the umbrella didn't extend properly.I contacted Plemo's support team, who asked for pictures, as this is apparently a rare incident. Amazon limits the filesize per email to 10MB, so sending three photos of the problem required three separate emails. The company did give me their own support email address, but I kept using the Amazon system so I wouldn't have to give out my details to an external system.After sending the photos individually, they conceded and swiftly sent me a replacement umbrella (telling me to dispose of my old one). This is not just an umbrella – in fact it wasn’t even bought to use as an umbrella. It’s the perfect protection from the sun on a hot summer’s day because it really looks the part as a sunshade, with its attractive, cheerful white clouds on blue sky canopy.What sparked off this purchase was a somewhat spoiled visit to a National Trust garden recently when the sun was just too hot and uncomfortable to bear. We hadn’t taken umbrellas because, frankly, you’d have looked an idiot carrying one. So we sat in the shade, hiding from the sun, when we noticed someone with a sunshade walking around quite happily, oblivious to the scorching heat of the sun.Eureka moment for us! Find an umbrella that has a summery look to it,and take it with you on hot sunny days to keep the heat off – and if it happens to rain, that’s a bonus.So we looked online as soon as we got home and found this one. It fits the bill perfectly, with its blue sky and scattered white clouds, and better still it’s 94 cm (37”) in diameter when open, and therefore large enough for two people. It was reasonably priced, I thought, though I received a reviewer’s sample for evaluation, and well-constructed. It has a strong aluminium centre pole and durable ribs built to withstand high winds and prevent it from flipping inside out. I’ve tested this claim and found it to be justified! There’s also a rubberized grip to reduces hand and wrist fatigue if you’re holding it for long periods – not sure that this is really a problem, but it’s a nice feature to have, and adds to the quality feel of the umbrella.It automatically opens with a button press, and, perhaps unusually, closes in the same way. It folds down to just 29 cm (11.5”) long and fits easily into a bag. The canopy fabric is made from high-density water-repellent fabric, and the frame is designed to withstand 25mph winds. My daughter had been nagging me for a new 'grown up' umbrella for ages as she had outgrown her Disney princess some time ago - her brief was: a black sparkly one, not to big, that opened by itself.While looking through the many options available on amazon I stumbled upon this 'Plemo Fancy Raindrops Automatic Umbrella' which seemed to tick all of her boxes and having ordered products from PLEMO in the past I was confident that the umbrella would be good quality.My order was fulfilled by Amazon and the umbrella arrived the very next day through prime and was securely packaged.The umbrella is an excellent size for both for a young child or an adult and is lightweight enough to put in a rucksack or handbag without being too small that it will only cover half of your body.The design is beautiful and my daughter is in love with it. The cover is quite tight and I don't think my daughter will be trying to use it (let's be honest they get lost anyway). The umbrella pops open with a simple click of the button and it isn't very easy to put it back down again. The frame and construction is extremely robust and there aren't any jagged or loose parts, the material is durable, dries quickly and the stitching appears to be excellent quality.My daughter used it for the first time today and she had no problems with it whatsoever and was very proud walking down the road holding it. Obviously it kept her dry so it performs exceptionally well as an umbrella so the fact it is beautiful, easy to use and exceptional quality is just an added and welcome bonus.I have uploaded pictures in a video format so you can know exactly what to expect when ordering.I was fortunate to receive this product at a reduction of the asking price in return for an honest and fair review of the item, which I hope I have provided. Being from 'oop north' an umbrella is a necessity at times as we have more than our fair share of rain. So after checking a few out on the net and reading some of the good reviews (thanks again folks - reviewing does work!) I thought I'd give this one a go.Plemo appear to have a good name and I could see why when this brolly arrived.Closed up it's only 11.5 inches (just under a foot) and is fastened with a Velcro strap. A matching cover is provided. It also has a solid feel to it I must say. Does this mean the build quality is good?Absolutely!The handle is rubberised to provide a comfortable grip which means you won't lose your grip in a gale and less hand ache in the long run.There is a button on the handle to extend the strong aluminium shaft and pop the wide umbrella canopy out. This is pretty quick and sleek so make sure there's a good bit of space in front of you beforehand as it's quite impressive the speed at which it pops! (remember Batfink's wings? A bit like that!) The same button will also collapse the canopy and you can then manually push the shaft back down, wrap it - strap it up and slide the cover back on.The canopy design on this one is excellent looking just like a giant daisy and is made from a thicker than usual material which is very waterproofed. The canopy on the Plemo is bigger than the average canopy and can easily cover two people. The ribs of this umbrella are also of outstanding quality. They're stronger than any I've seen before and are quoted as being able to withstand wind speeds of up to 25 mph.No more umbrellas flipping inside out, the canopy ripping off leaving you stood there holding what looks like a television aerial!This is a great looking umbrella with excellent build quality which should last. I've bought this one for the lovely other dinosaur. She loves purple so I'm sure she'll like this!Thoroughly recommended

I was supplied this umbrella without cost to review, this is my honest opinion.This is a lovely umbrella that is made of quality materials. It's much sturdier and weightier than cheaper models - the minute you pick it up it's obvious that you have a really good product in your hands. It's a little bit bigger than most folding travel umbrellas and will cover two people walking alongside each other.There are no instructions with this, but perhaps there should be. It's an automatic umbrella and on removing it from its cover and undoing the Velcro securing strap I luckily pointed it away from my face when pressing the button on the handle to open it. The umbrella shot out and open very quickly,with some force. I've never ever had one that opened this quickly.Whatever you do, don't open this in a crowd... I'd also advise against giving it to anyone under 13 for the same reason.The ribs of the umbrella are very sturdy and look as if they will stand up to high winds very well. The manufacturers claim up to 25 mph - which is quite a breeze - and it certainly looks as if it will have no problems.Pressing the button again when the umbrella is open closes it very quickly with what is almost a bang, it's quite a loud noise. The extending stem was then pushed close, it needs a little bit of pressure, but it's not too bad.I liked the fact that the removable cover is quite roomy so it was easy to slip back on to the closed umbrella. All too often, fitting the covers back on to slip them into a handbag is a bit of a struggle. There's a stylish PL logo on the base of the handle, which is rubberised for a comfortable, non-slip grip.This would make a lovely, practical gift for either a man or a woman, being completely unisex in its styling. If you are fed up of compact umbrellas that give up in high winds and end up in the nearest bin this is for you.

For a stylish and elegant product the base colour is again black, but with a discrete design of raindrops in contrasting white. The umbrella is larger than most folding/travel umbrellas at over 3 feet wide when in use and almost 2 feet from handle to crown when open, and almost 1 foot long when folded - so it may be a bit big for some handbags - yet on the other hand it is large enough for 2 persons to shelter together. In windy conditions the PLEMO umbrella is resistant to turning inside out - the manufacturer claims it is capable of staying intact against winds up to 25 mph.All users know their umbrella will fail at some stage but this ‘PLEMO Automatic Folding Travel Umbrella’ appears to be particularly well made with excellent opening/closing action, and with high quality materials - and therefore likely to outlast its competitors - a 5-star product.

This is a really beautiful umbrella, and I enjoyed the canopy up / down button. Unfortunately, the skeleton of the umbrella isn't made of metal, but plastic. I'd only had the umbrella a grand total of 2 weeks before it fell out of my bag and broke one of the struts. For the price, that's pretty devastating. I've had free promo umbrellas last for much longer!It's a really clever design, and maybe I just had some bad luck with it, but until its made from more solid materials I can't really recommend it. I was swithering between awarding two and three stars, and I have a policy of up-rating if I'm in between.EDIT:: I was sent a replacement a few months ago, and I have to say it's put up with the Scottish weather beautifully so far.No breakages or anything, even in the face of windy conditions. It's quick and easy to go up, meaning you can be on your way without faffing too much with the mechanism.To put down the canopy, it's easy enough to push the button, but to reset the umbrella and push the shaft back down, it requires a bit of effort. This hasn't been a problem for me until this week after I sustained an injury. I've had to get creative and use my body weight and a well placed wall to reset the umbrella. If you have weak wrists or a hand / arm / wrist injury, this umbrella may not for you.All things considered, I've upped it to a 4, but if it makes it to the end of the year I'll be happy to up it to 5 stars. :)

REASON FOR PURCHASE:I purchased this for my mother in law.CURRENTLY USE / PREVIOUSLY USED:This is the second Plemo umbrella I've purchased from Amazon, my last purchase was a plain black one (automatic like this one) and is genuinely the best umbrella I've ever owned.PACKAGING:The umbrella comes packaged in a matching sleeve, predominantly black in colour and printed with a raindrop design. This is then packaged in a see-through plastic.CONTENTS:Inside the sleeve you'll find a compact umbrella fastened with a popper and fabric strap. It has a solid and sturdy black plastic handle that features a button. With a simple click of the button,two things happen - the metal umbrella handle shoots up to full length and the umbrella opens out to it's full size. It's a very nifty operation and very easy to execute with one hand - which is a major advantage if you find it difficult to use your hands like my mother in law, or if it starts raining when your hands are full with bags of shopping.POSITIVES:Attractive and modern design, unisex colouring, easy operation, well stitched, high quality materials.NEGATIVES:No negatives at all.PRODUCT SUITABLE FOR:The colours make this suitable for both males and females. I was delighted to receive this lovely umbrella to review. Like all the Plemo umbrellas, it is very well made but it also features a really pretty blue sky with clouds design that is even more attractive than it appears in photographs. Something to really brighten up dull days.It's not just a case of style over substance - although compact when closed, this is a sizeable umbrella when opened that could easily shelter two people walking together. It opens and closes automatically by pressing a button on the rubberised comfortable to hold handle. It does open with quite a bit of force, so make sure of a clear area around you when you press the button on the handle to do this.Like others in the range,it closes with an audible snap which does cause heads to turn. The spring to extend / retract the handle is quite strong and you need to press it quite firmly to push the umbrella closed - I found this easiest to do on a firm surface, but it is possible to do it by hand without too much difficulty.The umbrella ribs are very sturdy and look capable of handling a strong breeze with ease; it would take a lot to blow this umbrella inside-out. Stitching was neat and secure and the product has the all-over feel of a quality item. The matching patterned cover fitted back on easily which is something that doesn't always happen. A great buy for yourself or a really nice gift that has a bit of individuality.

This umbrella is a good quality and it always makes me smile in the rain as opposed to the usual standard black gloomy umbrellas that I usually keep. I love the fact that it is automatic as well, it makes for quick opening when I need to get out in a hurry and it seems to dry really quickly even after a good drenching due to the material it is made out of. Although this is no major problem, I wish the colours were a bit deeper and richer, I feel like they are a bit brighter than the picture and I thought they would look more deep, rich and golden. Not a problem though it's just me being fussy. And also, it is quite heavy and a bit long in length so if you are carrying a small handbag,this has a good chance of not fitting or taking up a lot of room and it adds quite a bit of weight to your bag too so after having just this and a 500ml water bottle in my bag my shoulder is very weighed down so it becomes a bit annoying if I am out for the whole day with this as it means I am probably going to have a sore shoulder by the end of it, so I only really bring this along with me when I know it's going to rain. If it was smaller, lighter and a bit more compact I would keep it in my bag all the time no problem like my usual compact umbrellas... so I feel like there are slight inconveniences when it comes to this umbrella but I sacrifice them all because of how nice it is! :)

I am super impressed with these umbrellas. I must admit to being a bit obsessed with umbrellas though. I love brightly coloured ones that make the misery of the many rainy days we have in Ireland more bearable. I bought these based on the fact that I had another plemo product previously in the form of their amazing 3D eye mask and the quality was impressive. So I bought this based on that and on the excellent reviews. I have many long umbrellas but have never found a decent folding one that lasts longer than a couple of weeks. They're always cheap and the spokes break way too easily. This is as other reviewers have noted, not a light umbrella. It has weight to it and it is sturdy.I love the pop open button and it also has a close button. I found that it takes two hands and a bit of strength to close it. Alternatively if you push it onto the ground this will close it for you. I'm an Occupational Therapist and would say to those with upper limb weakness or arthritis that this may be too heavy and tricky to work but the easier way to manage it is to push it into the ground with the heel of your hand.I bought a second so I have one in my car and one in my bag but it does add weight to a day to day handbag. Fabulous though. I may well buy them in every colour :)

I have to say straight up that I really love this wee umbrella. I bought it for my wife who loves sunflowers as a gift and need I say she is rather pleased (she loves sunflowers). So how does one review a folding umbrella?Well I took it outside and opened and closed it several dozen times and it operated correctly each time. Next I set the garden sprinklers a task and gave the umbrella a thorough shower of homemade rain for 20 minutes. It remained waterproof. Let it dry (open - always dry a brolly open so the fabric dries in the stretched position) then repeated the opening and closing again a couple of dozen times. A lot of umbrellas rip because they are allowed to dry in the closed position and the material will shrink slightly.Checked the seams and the threads in the frame and they appear strong and well finished. The automatic opening feature is easy to use and works effectively.So in conclusion I would rate this as a really well made product. But let's be honest; it's the striking sunflower pattern on this wee brolly with its vibrant yellows that really makes this small folding umbrella pop.
