The reason why I bought this mouse is because the previous mouse (A4 tech) which I was using died on me after three years of usage. I was scouting for something simple and nice, I came across this. One thing you have to take note is that, the product advertised in Amazon is different from what you received. Althought the design is just slightly different, nevertheless this is still a great mouse. It's very light, and hence, it's easy to be carried around or even to chuck it inside your bag. It goes well with both of my laptops (for HP and Samsung netbook). In terms of the mouse pointer and tracking surfaces, I do not have any problems with it. It's pretty smooth and accurate. The scroll wheel and the buttons are not too noisy. However, if you intend to use it in a library where total silent is required, I wouldnt suggest you use the mouse, but instead, use your notebook touchpad. This mouse is very durable as well. I've once dropped it on a concrete floor and it still works perfectly fine. You can try dropping it a few times, to test how durable it is.All in all, I've been using this mouse for four months now and am very happy with it. For those who want something simple, light, compact & non-hardcore gamer, this is the mouse for you.

Received my mouse this morning, plugged it in and a few seconds later it was working as it should. When I move the mouse the cursor on the screen moves in the relevant direction and when I press the buttons or use the scroll wheel I get the expected reaction from it. What else can I say? It has a short lead but it is for my laptop so that is not an issue. I like a smaller mouse as I have small hands so it feels more comfortable for me than some full sized mice. Black is a practical colour (although part of me wanted the pomegranate one!)and the mouse seems fairly robust. Also it works with Windows 7 as it does not specify this in the product details which almost prevented me buying it.I am happy with this purchase which was great value for money.

It would have been five stars but my mate prefers his big bulky oversized gaming mouse and hates using my computer with its "puny midget" mouse. But I don't have problems with my hand and wrist - he seriously does!Have to say also that I don't agree with the comments about the short length of the lead on compact mice. Although they probably are intended for laptops where 2.5m of cable ends up as an inconvenient twisted knotted surplus mess, in actual fact my shorter lead from this compact mouse drops nicely over the back of my computer desk and easily reaches the USB sockets of my PC below with a couple of inches to spare!

OK the mouse I got looked better than the picture. Wheel and buttons seem very sturdy and the mouse is definitely small (good for little hands). One thing to watch out for is the length of the wire, it is designed for use with a laptop and the wire is only about 60cm long. No good for a Desktop unless you get a USB extension cable for a few pounds. Even the instruction book indicates plugging the mouse into a desktop USB connector which is just not possible if the desktop is stored away from the surface you intend to use the mouse on. But overall a good product - perfect for a laptop!

I have used this mouse for several years and would not change to a larger mouse. I find the small size much easier to use than a full size mouse. It sits between my thumb and my two smallest fingers, rather than in the palm of my hand, with my index finger and middle finger resting on the two buttons. The shorter 70 cm cable is ideal for use with a laptop, though it would be too short for a floor standing computer. The only con I can think of is that it breaks if you drop it on the floor then stand on it, but most mice would break under those conditions!

I brought this to replace a Verbatim wireless mouse, which after a fair use began to become erratic. It is a good cabled mouse, and as I am using it on my laptop, the short wire that it comes with is of no problem for me. It currently does what it is supposed to. I find it slightly too small, and light for comfort - but then the description does say quite clearly 'compact'. I doubt that it will be my last mouse - I preferred the Radio Mouse, except that loading the driver slowed the booting of the computer down to an unacceptable level.

I have bought this mouse twice for my teenage son to use with his laptop. The first time, I was attracted by the brand and price, and was not disappointed. My only concern had been whether the size would feel too small. Unfortunately, the mouse was lost, so I replaced it with a standard size mouse, but my son so much prefers the compact size (because the mouse can be used on the space on his laptop by the keyboard) that I have now bought another Microsoft Compact mouse for him. How about that for a recommendation?

I bought this mouse to use with an Aspire One netbook. I haven't had any problems with it at all. The cable seems to be the right length and the button and wheel work just fine. It tends to be used on my clothed thigh and hasn't seen a mouse mat or a desk. The pointer moves quite fast enough for me and seems to be perfectly accurate. It is small and thus needs to be held in the fingers rather than the palm of the hand but there is nothing wrong with that. If you want a small mouse this one is good.

Meets my needs well, since I use it with a netbook, where the short cable is an advantage, not a handicap - it would be unusable with my present desktop arrangement, but it was not bought for that. It is accurate and easy to use, but possibly too small for those with large hands [suits me] - but it is sold as "compact", so no grounds for blaming either Amazon or Microsoft on this count.Still early days, but it feels fairly solid, so I am hoping for a long life from it.

Good little mouse. Bought this, like another reviewer, for my Acer as not that keen on the trackpad and its nicely small to store. Very happy with it - works great on the arm of a chair, my trouser leg or a newspaper. It doesn't like my glass-topped coffee table though. No trouble with speed or accuracy. Initially felt strange after using a full-size wheel mouse, but soon got used to it once I held it more with fingers than in my palm. Very happy with it.

This is a reasonable quality mouse as you'd expect from Microsoft. That said it's definitely at the cheap-and-cheerful end of the product line, which suited me fine. As other reviewers have noted it's a small, lightweight mouse, clearly designed for travel use with laptops, and as such is probably unsuitable for extensive use or with desktops where you'd be better off with something more substantial. But for occasional travel use it's pretty ideal.

I bought this mouse for my netbook (Samsung N130, running XP). The touchpads of netbooks can sometimes be a bit tricky and annoying to use. So I found that using a mouse did improve my experience of using my netbook considerably. It was pretty much 'plug and play' after attaching it to my computer. While it's small (so good for travel) it's still easy to use. It seems to work fine all kinds of surfaces. And last but not least: it's cheap.

Everything in the right place for easy reach - both L and R click and scroll wheel. Being wired, it's really light to move around. Size is great for all size hands and very comfortable for small hands. Does not skip or stick. Being quite low profile, the hand is kept relatively flat and so is not bent back / reflexed too much, thus there's no fatigue.Overall great value for money, very well-designed and does exactly what you need it to.

Had the original version of this mouse, and it worked well, lasting 2 years. It has quite a short cord, especially compared to the previous model. I use it mainly with my netbooks, all Asus models, running XP and various Linux distros, and as such it works fine in close proximity to the netbook. It is accurate, fits well in the hand despite it's small size. I use it in preference to my arc mouse, which I thought I would use more.

I bought this Optical Mouse for my Laptop. I didn't want a cordless one as the batteries need replacing. It is corded and the cord is short, for use with the Laptop. Wouldn't suit a Desktop due to its short length. It is small in size but fits the palm. All I had to do was to plug it in to the USB Port and the built-in software did the rest. It suits my needs and it has worked well so far. Would recommend it for Laptop users.
