An essential secondary safety device for securing the front and back of your kayak to the towing eyes of your car in order to prevent "wind-lift" during transportation. They shouldn't be pulled too tight as they are only there to prevent the boat lifting, not to lash it down with. Very easy to use and I'm not very good with knots and ropes so perfect for me - hook it on and pull the loose cord which tightens the remainder of the rope through a ratcheted pulley system and locks it in place. Just remember to tie up the loose end out of the way afterwards. They are sold in pairs and also come with a pair of webbing loops about 6 inches or so long that you can use to wrap through a moulded handle

have seen other stabilising bow and stern ropes but I am glad i took other Amazon customer reviewers advice.I bought the Thule ropes.my son (the real enthusiast at kayaking) took his 2 kayaks down to Abersoch in North Wales(from here in lancashire about 140 miles) he had no problems,checked the tension after 30miles and no movement so carried on.hes pleased/so am I.many thanks to Amazon/customers reviews and buy this item with confidence.thank you all

after upgrading to a longer kayak i opted for this extra security and am very pleased with the quickdraws, they ratchet easily and release easily and have plenty of cord so can also be doubled up and used like a strap on smaller lighter loads .as expected THULE have produced a brilliant product for its purpose and with a bit of searching you can get them for under £ 30 easily. well worth the extra peace of mind.

Superb piece of kit. A bit pricey for what they are, although you do get two for the money but they are very quick and easy to use. I had my kayak secured and ready to go before everybody else. Very secure when the car was moving and didn't come loose at all over 130 miles round trip to the coast. Highly recommended.

Have used these several times and on the whole well made, however I would have preferred a caribiner to a hook, especially on the lower attachment.

Really easy to put together ? they just make our Tarpon 130 more secure on the roof bars by eliminating any bouncing movement.

Fantastic bit of kit and worth the money for they are secure and don't make paintwork.
