I wear 8 8.5 depending on shoe style and brand. I bought 8/39 in ecco yucatan. These are very comfortable hiking/walking shoes. I am loving mine :)I work for a department store and many women shopping there wear Ecco Yucatan shoes. And I always wondered why they like these ugly looking shoes so much. They come wearing them and buy more. I gave ecco a try with a better looking pair (Ecco Felicia) which are not hiking shoes. My feet are very sensitive and refuse any shoes with straps. I have average arch. First few days, I felt the straps rubbing my toes but I still gave them a chance. It stopped bothering me after few days. My sister bought Ecco Felicia at the same time. She has more sensitive feet. She refused to wear them because of all the rubbing. It's been ten months and I wear my shoes everywhere I go but my heels start aching if I walk in them for couple of hours. So I am going on a holy trip with my sister, where we will be doing a lot of walking in very hot weather. I thought to give Ecco Yucatan a try since these are hiking shoes. I made my sister buy them too. I didn't even need to break them in. These felt very comfortable, the moment I put them on. I didn't walk miles in them yet, so I can't say how my feet will feel after long walks. But I bought bandages and heel pads to prevent any blisters and foot pain. My sister, again felt the rubbing everywhere (toes, back, sides) and doesn't want to take them on the trip. The reason I am telling all this is because these may not be the best walking shoes for everyone out there. My sister and I have very similar issues with our feet. We both get blisters and heel pain(planter fasciitis) after walking for few miles. I even get pain in ball of my feet (metatarsal). But these shoes will most likely feel comfortable from the get go. If not within two three uses, so don't be hasty to return if you don't like them. Give them a chance to adapt to your feet. These can be your next best friend ; )As I mentioned earlier that I work retail. I have to stand for long periods of time every day. I own several pairs of naturalizer, clarks and my most recent favorite for standing all day 'Fit flops'. I own 6 paid of black fit flops shoes. Best shoes for standing on your feet. But if you have troubled feet like mine and looking for comfortable walking shoes. Go for Ecco brand."Update"...(9/20/2019)I wore these shoes everyday and everywhere for more than a month on my trip abroad. My feet did not feel uncomfortable, sweaty or itchy in them. Only one day when I walked for about 25 miles, I had a blister under one foot . I still felt comfortable wearing them.Even my sister who went to the trip with me had no complaints for these shoes, even though she can't walk in any shoes for long. Her feet always start hurting. But she said that these are so comfy. She preferred to wear them over her other favorite shoes throughout the trip. Now I know for sure why women love these shoes so much. I even recommended them to friends. These are best for summer vacations where you will have to walk a lot.

These are my absolute favorite shoes on the planet. Just purchased my 5th pair! I add a pair to my collection every year, although they don't really wear out. They may begin to look a little worse for wear after a few years, but…they still feel great and are great "around the house" shoes when they begin to look a little worn! I DO wash mine after wearing for awhile. I simply throw into the washer with cold water on the most gentle cycle, then allow to air dry. I have either bought pairs for my family members or have recommended to extended family and friends. Everyone should try these…to know what real foot comfort is about. Although they aren't the most attractive shoes out there,I STILL get compliments on mine!My Ecco Yucatans were especially useful during the winter months when I fractured a metatarsal bone in my left foot. I ended up adjusting the left shoe to fit my swollen, painful foot and wore with socks. Even my podiatrist let me off the hook of wearing one of those awful medical foot boots because he thought these sandals provided enough support to get me through the healing process. And he was right. My foot completely healed, right on schedule! I have read in these posts that some folks wear their Eccos as a general rule during winter with socks! It works! You become so accustomed to the fit…that nothing else is acceptable.I can't recommend these shoes highly enough. If you want a truly comfortable shoe, try these. If you don't try them, you'll never know what you're missing out on.

I almost always wear a size 9.5 B shoe size but in this shoe I had to go up one full size from a 40 to a 41 in European sizing to get the length I needed.I have a high instep and narrow heels so I like having 3 adjustable straps - if the sandal did not have the adjustable straps the shoe would be too wide. The width of the size 40 was just a little tight across the front and was too short in length. The size 41 is a little wide, so if Ecco offered a size 40.5 the sizing would have been perfect. Since Ecco does not offer half sizes I deducted one star from my rating. This is my second pair of Ecco brand shoes and in both cases I had to go up one size.I also found that I can only wear Ecco shoes if they have adjustable straps - every other Ecco style I have tried would not work on my foot - they were either too short or way too big, so I need the straps to compensate.Initially I did not like the stiff sole and foot bed but after manually bending the sole where the toes bend at the ball of the foot it became very comfortable so that totally changed my opinion. I can see this as being my go to shoe for everyday casual wear when the weather gets warm. Finally, my wardrobe consists of a lot of Black colored clothing so the Atmosphere/Ice/Black color combination works well for me - it's very neutral and more stylish than the more solid Black color in my opinion.

I suffer from peripheral neuropathy and find walking increasingly difficult. I'm soon to take a long trip around the Southern hemisphere, with a fair bit of walking and have been looking for a pair of sandals that would help and support me. Having read reviews on many different shoes, I decided upon the ECCO Women's Offroad Athletic Sandals as they seemed to give the support I was looking for without looking too frumpy.Ordered on Friday, they arrived well packaged today, Sunday, (2 days later). It so happened that we were having a family get together at a park, with beautiful woodland walks and so, taking walking shoes with me as back up, I wore my new ECCO sandals. I wasn't sure how far I could walk with the family, but if not far, then I could wait for them somewhere, if necessary. There was no need to worry at all!!I wore the sandals all day without any rubbing whatsoever and although I did use a walking stick to stop me tripping, I walked easily and kept up with everybody all the way. I have not walked as well as this for quite some time.Thank you SO much ECCO!!I ordered my usual size, 5.5 and they fit perfectly. No prizes for guessing which make of footwear I shall be choosing in future.(And yes, I would highly recommend these sandals)!

I usually don't spend this much for sandals, but I needed comfort for a vacation that required a lot of walking. I saw several women on my last cruise, young and old wearing these Ecco's. I was told by one they are the most comfortable shoe ever and that they last up to 5 yrs or so. I wore them around home and loved them, and now just got back from that vacation that was the real test. Last time I was miserable and my poor feet were band-aided everywhere even though I kept changing shoes. No problem this time, they were comfortable, sturdy and I have no complaints except I wish I had bought them a long time ago. My fit was true to size. Now I want another pair in brown. Highly recommend them.Update,September 2013: 2 years later and still love these. They're in great shape, and are the best vacation shoe. I don't leave home without them. They are not pretty and feminine, but they are practical. They don't scuff easily, so they look decent enough. I don't wear them to go dancing or even out to dinner, but when you want to enjoy sight-seeing without your feet hurting you, can't beath these.

These sandals are fantastic. My cousin told me she loved them and had walked all over for 2 weeks in Italy in them last year. This year she plans to wear them all the time in Paris. I bought a neutral colored pair and have worn them several times this spring. I liked them so much that when I saw these cute red ones on sale, I just had to buy them! They are equally comfortable and look great with denim and red tops. As far as the fit is concerned, I always wear an 8 or 8 1/2 or a 38 or 39 in EU sizing. I initially bought my first pair in a 39 after trying them on. But somehow the arch and my heel seemed to be in the wrong place. So I went to my local Shoe Mill and tried the 40.The 40 fits perfectly and the arch is very supportive. These will definitely be my summer sandals this year. I haven't worn them on any long hikes yet; but I've gone on several 4-7 mile walks in the city and worn them both with and without thin socks. No blisters and very happy feet.

These were for my wife. She is a shoe lover extraordinaire. I cannot even begin to tell you how many shoes she has, but it is a lot. Cheap ones. Expensive ones. Dozens of them that I cannot tell the difference between, but the details are clear to her. Her expectations for shoes are very high.Upon receiving these sandals there was an explosion of excitement. "These are the most comfortable shoes ever!" "I have been buying shoes forever and only now I realize how good a shoe can be!" etc. Needless to say, she was very happy.I was expecting the initial excitement to wear off and any flaws to expose themselves, but she has worn these a lot and also on one extended vacation, and her satisfaction has remained. She continues to comment about how comfortable and good they are and also her dismay at how bad nearly every other shoe she has ever owned is in comparison to these.Based on all of that, these may be the highest rated product I have ever purchased.

I didn't realize it when I ordered these but not only do you have two adjustable velcro straps on the top but the piece that goes behind your ankle is also velcro adjustable! This ensures that you have a comfortable, secure fit no matter what type or size of foot you have. I have high arches and these provide excellent support.I normally am a 6.5 in dress sandals/shoes but wear size 7 in athletic shoes and size 7.5 in running shoes. I should have compared sizes a little more but I decided to just order size 38 since most size 37s have run too small on me. Now that I've worn the 38 a few times I think I may be in between the 37 and 38 but I'm happy with the fit of the 38.I would rather have a little more wiggle room than have my toes at the edge.I ordered the ice white/black color which is perfect - it is tan with black accents so it goes well with neutral colors or black.Bottom line: superior comfort and design that is worth the investment!

I was stressing about the size and fit. I have always been a huge Tiva fan and the style I always got and loved has been discontinued. I got the style recommended as a replacement by Tiva and was not as pleased and they didnt last as long. I have alot of feet issues and need something that is like a athletic shoe (sneekers/hiking shoe in open design) I hate for my feet to get all hot in a closed shoe in the summer. I would wear my Tivas to do yard work and walk/hike on paved and none paved surfaces in water or mud. These seem very nice, and comfortable. I wear a 8.5-9 and I did get the 8-8.5 and am pleased the larger would have left much more space between my big toe and the edge of the shoe so its all in your liking.I dont like too much cus it catches on rocks and such. the adjustable straps are great as well. dont know that they will do as great in water like my others have but they will do and are nice looking for the price.

I honestly have no idea how I lived without these sandals all my life! I live in South Texas...flip-flop beach country. But feet need variety to stay sane! I own an army of peep-toe heels, pricey sneakers, lots of sandals & flip-flops. I like to go out on treks in the summer and photograph landscapes. Temps say wear flip-flops...terrain says wear boots or sneakers. These solve the problem entirely!Great ankle and arch support. I have a very average 7.5 foot. But these are fully adjustable so I choose the fit and stride with confidence, whether in the yard or climbing a tree to capture an image. My feet get to breathe but I still have awesome traction and support! And I have virtually no foot pain at the end of a long day.I have this pair of Yucatans and a pair of Offroad Lites. I much prefer these from an ankle support perspective and wear the Offroads for yard work, long periods of cooking, etc. I'm totally sold on Ecco.

These are incredibly comfortable sandals which literally hug the sole of your feet. A previous question regarding whether there is arch support has been asked, and some have said 'no' in response. There is! The sole is shaped higher under the arch and with my flat feet and arthritis, this is essential. Some have been negative too about the Velcro fastenings, saying the one over the front of the foot is for decoration only. Again, not entirely true. It does adjust the width slightly, with elastic underneath, so unless you have extremely wide feet, I can't see what the problem is. I have bunions - due to too many years during my youth wearing high heels - and these sandals easily expand to accommodate.Sturdy enough for walking on rough terrain, whilst stylish enough to add interest and colour to your summer outfits. My winkle picker stiletto shoe days may be over, but I'm not compromising style for comfort just yet!

These sandals are so comfortable, not only for serious hiking but just for ordinary walks around the block. The are fully adjustable in all directions and therefore can be fitted exactly to you foot. I have quite wide feet which sometimes results in maybe needing a slightly bigger shoe, so with these being adjustable I actually dropped to a 39 instead of my usual 40. I love the colour, they are so smart and look forward to summer where it will be warmer to wear them. I must admit to being so excited by them that I have been out in sandals and socks - so un-cool. I tried a pair on in a shop in Wellington to get the fit right, before ordering from the US. I would support local if the price difference was only slight, but I would have had to pay $259 NZ here and got these in on special from Amazon for $119 NZ. There's no comparison. I am sure I will be buying another pair at some point in the future.

These shoes had many glowing reviews and thanks to another person's review, who said they, too, had narrow feet and still fit, I decided to give them a whirl. I'm not one to buy shoes online due to my narrow feet, but you can't find these kind of sandals locally for women and with the 3 velcro straps, the other customer was right, they completely adjust to fit my feet - not too large, not too small. They have great contour and yet squishy material to both support and comfort my feet when I walk. I specifically wanted a style like this because flat sandals provide no support and tennis shoes make my feet way too hot when I walk. I haven't had these long, but first walk was comfortable,no break-in time needed. I recommend these. The only reason for 4 star instead of 5 is because I have high arches and they don't quite meet my arch, but that is my problem, not the shoes'.

I bought my first pair of ECCO sandals last summer (they are the same as these except brown). I was sold the minute I put them on. I was so happy to see these exact same sandals in a blue color. I have very high arches so I can not wear many brands without my feet hurting, these are like walking on a cloud. Only a few adjustments with the closures (love the 3 way Velcro) and the fit is perfect. With both pairs they were broken in the next day. I walk, hike and work in mine, not slippery, not uncomfortable in the least. I am thrilled to have found them and as long as they continue making these I will keep buying. Also they last so long, the ones I got last summer still show no wear or tear and that is amazing because they are my everyday shoes now.3 of my family members were so impressed with mine they bought a pair for themselves.

I like these very much. They seem to be well constructed - a little pricey - but the ones that sell for 1/2 the price are very junky. I have a torn meniscus and if I don't wear a well made shoe or sandal - I will feel the pain in my knee right away. These work great - no pain in my knee. And there are not many on the market as well made as these shoes. I wear a 7.5 shoe and an 8 in running/walking shoes. I ordered the 38's. They are a "wee" tad too small - but the 39's would be too big. My toes don't hang off the edge so that is a plus. But I have to loosen the straps and while you can do that, you see the velcro which I assume is going to get dirty. And I have a bit of a high instep - so they rub a little in the front. But I haven't found anything better than these - so all things considered - I am happy with them.
