This is the second most comfortable sandals I have ever had, and I have tried on MANY athletic sandals over the years. This is the most comfortable and wearable sandal in the Teva brand. I haven't worn it in water yet, but so far on dry land it kept my bare feet protected and reasonably comfortable.Several things that are important to me when I select a good pair of sandals:(1) all straps adjustable, especially the toe box because I have wide feet;(2) cushy foot bed for my old bones;(3) cushy straps to minimize constant rubbing on tender skin. As far as I know the Tirra is one of the few sandals with cushioned straps in the toe box area. It does not completely eliminate friction because I have to tape my heels after an hour of hiking, but I haven't had the need to tape my toes.(3) supportive and stable enough for hiking in hilly and rocky terrain.(4) good traction in and out of water;(5) open toe with wide enough room for toes to spread out.(6) light weight. I don't want to wear bricks when I need to hop from rock to rock. One con of this shoe is that it relies on velcro to keep them on, and velcro does not stick when wet. So when you are around water, you have to remember not to take them off (unless you don't plan to put them back on soon) or adjust the straps.I will wear it on a waterfall hike next time and report back on my experience. So far on dry land it's been comfortable with the exception of the heel area friction. It's not a deal breaker because every other athletic sandal I have tried caused a lot more blisters/pain than this pair of shoes. The only pair that beats this in terms of comfort and totally blister free while hiking was an old Nike pair that were long extinct from the market.I am glad this sandal comes with half sizes. I usually wear 8 wide in women's sneakers but 7.5 in open-toed sandals. The Tirra sandals size 8 will fit but not the best, and appear too big. 7.5 is perfect for me so the sizing is spot on.Look wise it's not a fashion statement but it's pleasant. Good for hiking, urban touring, running errands and water sports. You can wear socks in them if necessary.Update: worn this pair hiking trails several times already and they became more comfortable each time. Today I hiked a little more than 2.5 miles in the blistering heat and my feet experienced no hotspots, not even in the heal area. I love these shoes! Will report back the next time I get my feet wet with them.Update 2: worn this pair walking a 4+ mile trail including 2 creek crossings. They perform very well in water, drying quickly. I did get blisters on my heels again and required taping of the area about 3 miles into the hike. By the end of the hike my left little toe gets a hot spot. Note to myself: any hike longer than 2+ miles should tape my feet, or wear socks, or wear regular hiking shoes plus socks.

TESTED WHILE BACKPACKING AROUND NICARAGUA (think mountains, town, river, and beaches)MY SPEC'S:Foot size: 7, wide-ish and used to wearing Chaco's and was slightly unsure about changing over to Teva'sWHY I GAVE 4 STARSFor walking about town, fantastic! They are comfortable, they move with my foot, when waiting in line at the bus terminal (for hours) the heels offered a soft and durable amount of support that made standing still bearable.Reason 1 for the 4 stars) Walking around on slick rock or any rock-like surface that is wet- NOT SO MUCH! I think Teva's should invest in Vibram material for this model. There was ab.so.lute.ly NO grip- in fact it was like having melted butter on wax paper taped to my shoes.Reason 2,the dreaded ankle rubbing) Just for an experiment I wore one sandal loose around the ankle strap and one tightened. After walking/floating around El Rio Coco then walking a mile home I eventually obtained rubs on both sides of my ankle, on both feet. Wearing band aids for the remainder of my trip whilst wearing the sandals (they were the only multi-activity sandals I brought) was OK but had I known then what I know now- I would not have worn these sandals in the water- or I would have found a similar Teva model that has Vibram grip. I'm sure I would have gotten the rubs eventually but having grip on the bottom on the sandals is worth the pain of the rubs.BUT! What makes up for all of this is when my hubby and I got jumped on the beach, then went chasing after the dirt bags (because they had our camera with ALL of our honeymoon memories) these babies were a breeze to break in to a sprint up and over a sand dune, down a dirt road, and in to a salt farm field. Who knew running in sandals could be so comfortable? And yes- we got the camera back.Final verdict- buy these shoes if you are going to be backpacking or hiking around in dry area's and looking for a cruiser of a shoe. If you are going to buy them because, like me, you are going on an adventure and need a multi-activity shoe, they are still good shoes but beware of the terrible grip when wet and some rubbing.Oh wait- when I read product reviews there was some gripe about the main ankle material not being sewn all the way to the end- don't worry, if you give this part a little snip it does fine. Or get some gorilla glue and have at it. My issue with the strap was how the end closest to the hinge part doesn't really fit through the bracket making it harder to slip on and off. But the upside: when the straps are open, they don't go flying off because of this backup.Buenos suerte in your decision!

I wanted these shoes because well, it's summer and I absolutely hate wearing tennis shoes when it's 90 degrees out (even in the house!) unless I have to! I didn't even know they made "athletic sandals", to be honest, until I searched for them! Of course, fortunately I can find most anything on Amazon - and I love that!Okay, so it's summer, I wanted some sandals because the sandals I have no longer provided the support I needed, but it wasn't just that. I could pull out a new pair, but I have a few feet problems that make it tough to enjoy those sandals all day. I pronate easily, so when I would take the dogs out, any crack in the sidewalk, or any unevenness in the cement, and my ankle would just double over, and I would likely fall down. I already have sustained quite a bit of damage to my left knee due to all of these falls, so shoes have become super important. I also have no arches, so shoes are even more important!! Even when my husband and I take the dogs out together, he used to ask me if I wanted to walk further, but I never could because I had my pretty little sandals on, and I was always afraid my ankle would pronate over some stupid crack and I would hit the cement. Sad, right?!I wear a size 8.5 in tennis shoes, so at first I ordered an 8.5 in these, and they looked like boats on my feet! I go up a size in tennis shoes because most of them have that weird curvature, and my feet end up feeling squished and falling asleep, but I obviously didn't need to do that in these sandals. In the end, a size 8 was perfect. Perfect length. Perfect width. And every strap is adjustable.Everything I asked in "ask the community" was true - these sandals do have great arch support, you CAN wear them out to walk your dog AND to go shopping. I wear them all day in my house, go in and out, no pronation - it's great. I even wear them during some weight lifting sessions (at home, mind you) like when I am doing shoulders, biceps or chest and triceps (clearly at home I am not worried about dropping weights on my toes). I am glad I don't fear them getting wet, like my other sandals (because the rain ruined one pair!), because I even have to take the doggies out when it rains, you know?!I have had these for about a month, and so far I love them! I am so glad I found them, as I had never heard of this brand, nor this type of shoe! They are very comfortable and they are even kind of cute - for an athletic sandal!! There IS a reason why they have so many fabulous reviews!

I recently took my pair of Tirras on a hike in the North of Spain as something to wear instead of my boots after the actual hiking was done. I ended up wearing them for one day's hiking as I was getting pressure blisters on the balls of my feet... the sole cushioning is so good, it was like walking on a cloud all day; my poor blistered soles were very happy! (I was walking a very well footpathed route, FYI, they wouldn't be much use hiking on rough terrain, being sandals and all...)That said, I did get a bit of rubbing from the straps when I was wearing them around the city the first few days I had them, but it's nothing a bit of Compeed wax won't solve until your feet get used to them.(I wore them with thin socks for the hiking. Oh yes, I looked hot, I can tell you! But it was worth it for the TOTAL comfort.)The one downside is that, presumably since they were made with water sports in mind, the innersole doesn't allow your foot to breathe much, and I found that after walking around Madrid all day, the soles of my feet got fairly sticky and gross and, dare I say it, a little whiffy. (This doesn't happen with the far cuter but less sturdy Kayenta sandals.) However, on the upside, they are really easy to wash! If, like me, you are trying to decide between these and something a bit cuter (like the aforementioned Kayentas) then I would say that, comfy as they are, (and the grape shade is definitely less conspicuous than some of the others) the Tirras are, in the end, walking sandals, and they look like walking sandals on your feet (i.e, a bit 'clumpy'). So if you are going to be doing outdoorsy things in practical clothing, then go for these, but if you are planning on being in the city a bit more and wanting to wear something a bit more girly, then get the Kayentas. Either way, you won't be disappointed. (I ended up buying both!)

This is the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned. I bought them last year and wore them all summer and all fall (including two months in Europe where I walked everywhere and wore them literally every day). I never had to 'break them in'... wore them all day, every day, straight out of the box and never got blisters. I'm so happy it's warm again so I can bust them out of their hiding spot in my closet! They're just as comfy as I remembered. How are they holding up to constant wear? Well, like I've already said, they're just as soft and supportive now as they were brand new. (I'm kind of fussy about my shoes' 'cushy-ness' - I hate sandals that feel like flat pieces of cardboard strapped to my feet; what's the point? You might as well go barefoot! These sandals are as supportive as my running shoes.) The velcro is still fully intact and grippy as ever. The soles are not worn down. Basically, this shoe still looks and feels new. I think this is a well-made product and well worth the money. I'd highly recommend them.A note on cleaning them: I haven't noticed any funky smells. When they got dirty from walking all over Europe I simply wore them into the shower at the hostel. They usually dried overnight, but occasionally they were still damp in the morning. I wore them anyway and never got blisters from the wet straps, which I was nervous about the first time I tried it.A note on the fit: in other brands (Aerosoles, Bare Traps, etc.) I wear an 8.5. I wear an 8 in this shoe. It looks like (according to other reviewers) sizing might have changed this year. Not sure what to say about that, but perhaps you should order your true size this year? Shipping was free when I purchased mine, so I ordered both sizes and kept the pair that fit.Happy walking!! I'm already working on darkening my sandal strap perma-tan.

This is my first pair of Teva sandals. My boyfriend has a pair he loves so that's why I went Teva :) He has had his sandals for many years and they're still in great condition. I did a lot of research before buying this sandal. I was so afraid of the shoe because I have trouble with my knees. Flip flops are a nightmare. I hate wearing tennis shoes all the time! And it's summer! I definitely found a winner with this one. A good tip I found from other buyers is to not wear your straps too tight. They will rub and be uncomfortable. The straps feel perfectly fine somewhat loose though. The sandal doesn't slip and slide all over the place. I did go in to the store (Kinnucans, sorry if it's misspelled)to try on this sandal as well as Chakos. I wanted to get the right fit. I paid about $40 less on Amazon rather than the store. I have PRIME so I got free shipping as well. The Chakos were a bit heavy. I was worried about wearing them all day. Maybe I'll try a pair when I have $100 to spare. The sandal is true to fit size. I wear an 8.5. It fits perfectly. Make sure you push your heel all the back when buying a pair if you try them on in the store. The sales lady was very helpful in that aspect, but Amazon had a better price ;) I've had the sandals for two months now I guess. I wear them all the time. One particularly hot day, my feet sweated a lot because I was at an arts and crafts festival. I had to do some "refreshing" to the sandals and let them air out for a day or so. Some Lysol and sunshine was all they needed! My Teva's are so comfortable and easy to wear. I really enjoy them. They provide enough comfort and support that I can wear them all day. Good buy for someone weary of sandals. Thank you!

Update (7/1/15)Still LOVE these shoes. I've owned them for about a year now, and they are still my go-to shoes. They look the same as the first day I wore them (Pictures added from today, check out those soles!). I wear these everyday around the house and on all weekly grocery/shopping, hiking trips, and visits to the zoo. I am so happy that the soles have held up. I will definitely be requesting another pair from Santa for Christmas this year! ;)ORIGINAL Review: (*****)This is my first pair ever of Teva shoes. I personally think they are on the more unattractive side, but as an outdoorsy person, I can not say enough great things about these shoes!!!! I read so many conflicting reviews when considering purchasing this item.I put them on just where the straps are not rubbing/sittings directly against my skin, and I have not had any issues with them..At 6 months pregnant we went to a huge outdoor sale event, and I walked many miles in uneven terrain (gravel, dirt, grass, pavement, streets) and after 10+ hours on my feet I had no back pain. (Boy was I wore out, though!)My most favorite thing about these shoes is after a day in the garden, farm, etc I step into the shower with these on and then allow them to dry, and they are like new again!I LOVE these shoes. I will probably buy more in the future. I think these are more comfortable than any other pair of shoes I own. If you live in the south/warm climate you will not be sad to own these (and can get a ton of use out of them!).I also wear them around the house when doing general housework. Has really helped my back especially with the extra weight of pregnancy.

Love, love, love Teva Tirra for the foot support they provide for hiking, long walks, and standing in endless lines. The footbed is thicker and more supportive than the Teva Verra. I started out with the Universal Sport sandal when Teva just came out and own almost every sport type version Teva has introduced since. I find the black neoprene under the straps to be softer against the skin than the beige. I own both but for me at least, this year's beige neoprene rubs just under my ankle bone on my smaller left foot and is irritating. I own another pair of Tirra sandals with the beige protective neoprene purchased two years ago and they never rubbed the skin around the ankle bone.My remedy is to put one of those small round bandaids on the sandal and small issue solved! If the shoe design people are reading this, I have a couple of recommendations. One: make the inner side ankle support (at the 'Y' junction) lower by 1/4" to eliminate potential rubbing on bone for those of us with shorter foot sole to ankle ratios. Two: For esthetics, I'd like to see the same thin strap used around the ankle for a more feminine look. Although the thicker strap serves it's purpose well, I believe a thin strap option would work as well. These clean up easily too. I soak and swish them around in a bucket of soapy water and they look new again even after years of wear! Overall, the footbed is THE MOST comfortable feature and every year, I'm trying to justify whether I want another pair in a different color. I own these in a half size up and down as sometimes a teensy difference is worth foot heaven.

I LOVE this sandal! I'm always skeptical when buying a shoe on line because you never know how it's going to fit or feel. I went by the ratings and decided to order them. I wear a size 10 in Tevas and these were a perfect fit. I also have wide feet and liked the fact that you can adjust ALL the straps. They're pretty wide and I was surprised that I actually had to adjust them smaller so if you have wide feet, feel free to order these shoes, there's plenty of room. I'm sorry to say (and this is the only negative) that if you have narrow feet, these may actually be too big in the toe box area, because, even though all the straps are adjustable, there's not enough velcro on the underside of the upper straps to adjust down too small. You could probably have a shoe repair shop add some additional velcro and these shoes would be worth it to have to do that. As soon as they arrived, I took them out of the box and tried them on and I thought I was in heaven! These sandals are so comfortable! I've had surgery on both my feet and it's hard to find a comfortable shoe with some support. These are great! I just did a week long river trip with them and never had a problem with them being wet. They dried quickly and have good traction. I did a long hike up a very steep mountain and they felt comfortable the whole time. I really put them to the test! But they're also stylish and look great and I got a lot of compliments and inquiries about them. Anyway, when I walked around the first time at home, I immediately went back to the computer and ordered another pair in a different color!

I bought these for a Disney World trip. When they arrived I wore them around the house and shopping to break them in. The were quite comfortable and allowed me to walk and stand in comfort. I paid special attention to what others were saying about leaving them loose. I have an additional tip: Sitting, put your feet in the shoes and with your heels down on the ground flex your toes upward and then loosely velcro them on. This way you will get the perfect fit.Next, my trip, airport...very easy to get on and off for tsa purposes. Very comfortable for long standing.Day one at Disney, comfortable. Day two, and after much walking, a blister appeared under my toes and on the side of my foot.My toes are curled under(hammer toed) so that might of been part of the problem but I dont usually get blisters. The blister on the side of my foot was clearly from the shoe. (Note: my feet are a tad wide but I don't usually wear wide width shoes.) I put a bandaid on and had no more problems other than slight pain near the blister. They held up well when wet and didn't slip or make my feet sweaty. They also didn't look too clunky like cave man shoes. I saw others at disney with the same sandals on.Special note: My feet swell in Florida and even swollen with blisters my feet did not get sore other than where the blister was. I will wear them again for long walking in hot or wet places but will stick to tennis shoes in climate controlled places. Give them a try. I give then 4.5 stars!

I'm wearing these right now! Years ago I owned what my friends called my Ugly Blue Tennisandals. My sandals that were indeed ugly, but were just like wearing athletic shoes (they were Nikes). I have tried many different sandals after those, some fashionable, some ugly, nothing right. I found something next-to-best (Naturalizer Women's Roadracer Sandal) but even those I couldn't wear for too long or my flat feet would ache.I'd purchased Tevas before and I can't say I've been overly satisfied with them, but I liked these and they were cheap enough for my trip to Mexico where I planned to do little walking, so I took a chance. I tried them on and feared that the arch was too high for my flat feet, but that hasn't been an issue. The first day I wore them was just to an appointment, but then a friend asked if we could do something so I ended up doing a fair bit of unexpected walking that day. By the end of the day the tops of my toes were a bit sore, but I feel that was because I did not have them properly adjusted at first.Since then, I've worn them several times and I have loved them. It's only been a few weeks, so I hope this excitement holds! (I've even worn them with socks... don't judge, I needed something to stick on my feet to take out the trash.)I've always had feet on the sensitive side, so I'm pleased to have something that I can wear that makes them happy. Bonus: they're not ugly!!

This is my first pair of Teva shoes and I didn't know exactly what to expect so I ordered my usual size. I'm very happy to say they fit just right. There is a really good arch support and heel cup which are both of supreme importance to me since I have plantar fasciitis. The three hook and loop adjustable strips mean that I can customize the fit exactly for my own foot. I was worried about that top strap because I have a high instep and, sure enough, I almost don't have enough strap there. A lot of the grey portion of the strap is showing on the ankle side. Not the best look - I would have liked for more of that grey part to be covered - but adequate to keep the strap from coming loose.I chose to order this shoe in the *Berry* color because I wanted color but in a muted way. They are very attractive and exactly what I would have chosen if I had seen the shoe in a retail store.I bought these shoes from Heart and Sole Shoes through Amazon and was given an expected shipping time of almost two weeks. That was okay, I had wanted the shoes specifically for a special day out in late July. Imagine my delight when they arrived by USPS within only several days. Now I have been able to wear them for full days at a time to make sure they will be comfortable for wearing at my all day event. The good news is --- they are wonderfully comfortable for all day wear.

This is the first pair of Teva sandals that I have ever tried. I am usually a little hesitant to order shoes online, but these had free returns, so I decided to try them since they were so cute looking. I originally ordered my normal size which is 8.5 medium width. I had to cinch the Velcro straps as tight as they would go and the sandals still seemed pretty wide on my foot. Also, the arch felt like it was falling somewhat behind the arch of my foot and was not comfortable. I returned the sandals and ordered a replacement pair in size 8. This size in the sandals fits my foot quite well, with the arch of the sandal meeting the arch of my foot correctly. I am very happy with the sandals in the smaller size. They are very well made and the deep purple color is very pretty and fun and I think it will go with most of the colors I wear. I am saving these for summer vacation, thus I haven't worn them around much, but I expect they will be comfortable for most of a day with moderate walking. The foot bed of the sandals is made of a rubber or synthetic type material and is not padded like some sandals are, so it remains to be seen if they will stick to the feet in warm weather. As a size reference, my feet are relatively slim and somewhat boney, so if you have more flesh on your feet you may not need to size down to get the width you need.

This is my second pair of Teva sandals. I wore my old pair for 6 summers--hiking, wading in streams/rivers, swimming in the lake and ocean, walking around cities, etc. They were the only shoes I would wear in the summer time. I ordered these, and while I've only had them for a day, they are just as comfortable and fit like my old Tevas did. I also think these are more attractive and feminine than my other Tevas but seem just as comfortable and sturdy! I can't wait to spend the next 6 summers in these!EDIT: I've been wearing these all summer. The best part are these are much more attractive and feminine than my older pair which made my feet look huge, but just like my old pair, they're fantastic in the water and great hiking in. You can walk in a stream and your feet won't be wet and gross at the end of the hike. I swim in these all the time at the lake and have taken them in the ocean. They also float so if they get ripped off while tubing, you'll still be able to find them (this might or might not have happened to me....) The only problem I have had is the Velcro seems to attract dirt and such and become less sticky over time (this is the same problem as my last pair of Tevas), but I'm pretty hard on my sandals obviously so it might not be an issue for most people.

I just bought and wore these sandals for 3 straight days, 7-8 hours a day, and walked about 12 miles in them mostly on sidewalks. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they were. The soles had a nice, cushiony feel that made it easier to stand on my feet for several hours at a time. I also have an old pair of Teva sandals that are about 15 years old - the comfort level (and weight) has improved since then!I am prone to blisters but these shoes did not cause me any problems. The ankle strap did initially bother me on the top of my ankle bone but I just played around with adjusting all of the straps until it didn't bother me anymore. The sandals fit true to size - I mostly wear a 6.5 but wear a 7 in hiking shoes, sneakers, and flip-flops. I decided to get a 6.5 even though I was worried they'd be too small but they fit nicely. And you can adjust the straps to fit the width of your foot.I'll be using these sandals for water crossings while hiking/backpacking and as a camp shoe. They are a little heavier than the flip-flops I used to carry as a camp shoe but I wanted a sandal I can comfortably wear socks with. The sandals are also nice enough to wear around town and while traveling and sightseeing.
