I'm not a real big fan of peaty whiskeys; I do like the occasional Laphroig, for the kick, and the 16 yr Lagavulin is nice. But I am a Balvenie fan, so I decided to try this out. The first taste was a bit surprising, but I quickly got used to it. It is fairly strong peat, but it blends in quite well with the usual Balvenie character. It's' a bouquet of flavors that opens slowly.It is a strong whiskey, it has quite a bite to it, and I don't like drinking this cask strength stuff as is, so I put a fair amount of water in it, probably making it closer to 40%.At this price, it's not something I want to drink often - and I know it won't be around for long - but it's certainly worth a try if you

It was a present for my husband so I asked him to write a review:Fantastic and just enough smoky taste without compromising the sweetness of a great Speyside whisky. It is a highly enjoyable dram with the best of two worlds: strong peat to start and lingering sweet notes to finish.Highly recommended for Speyside lovers that also enjoy some peaty drams.

Just Great - so easy to drink. Johnnie Walker Blue Label was my favourite prior to drinking this, but this is just another level.
