The Super Monkey Ball series on consoles started back in 2001 when the Nintendo GameCube launched. It became a popular series due to its simple concept and addictive gameplay. After a few titles and even more success with the series, SEGA decided to bring all of the monkey-rolling action to the Nintendo DS. Unfortunately, Super Monkey Ball: Touch & Roll isn't the best of the series but it's a fun game that fans will really enjoy on-the-go.For those of you who are unfamiliar with Super Monkey Ball, the game is played entirely using analog control to tilt the in-game level and send a monkey, trapped inside of a ball, across a goal line. The concept is similar to the classic Marble Madness,only the control is put on the level instead of the ball itself. Of course, the levels are usually construed in extremely awkward and difficult ways, offering quite a unique and interesting, not to mention addictive challenge.With 100 levels total, there's quite a workload in Super Monkey Ball's Mission Mode. Each level gets progressively harder, offering new challenges and altered terrain to roll your monkey over. Where an early level will have barriers and walls protecting you from rolling off of the map, later levels will have ramps and pits and all sorts of challenging obstacles. One of the levels that I had the hardest time with wasn't actually large or drawn-out at all, it was constructed like a roulette table. The trick was to roll your monkey into the hole in the roulette wheel before the wheel struck your ball and sent you flying off-screen. Of course, I died about 10 times before finally accomplishing this.Though there are 100 levels, a good percentage of them don't take very long to complete and the game itself could be completed in a couple of hours if you're an experienced Monkey Ball player. Thankfully, SEGA included some mini-games to spice the package up. Monkey Golf was my personal favorite, allowing you to play mini-golf on all sorts of twisted levels. Monkey Hockey was a fun air hockey-based game, but I thought it was far too difficult to use the stylus and control your paddle.Visually, Touch & Roll is pretty basic. The levels contain a few specific color schemes and the backgrounds are so stark that I didn't really notice them. The music is pretty cute, but overall, none of the production values really stood out. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that I didn't care much about what Monkey Ball looked or sounded like because the gameplay and control concept is so original on its own. Touch & Roll is a good package for Monkey Ball fans or newbies like myself, but it's nothing too fancy. It's basically just the same thing you've enjoyed for years in a handheld format (a first, unless you owned a N-Gage or played the GBA), but there's nothing wrong with that.

So yeah the game has been done before, but if it ain't broke don't fix it!The main game consists of various worlds each packed with different stages and ultra-cool banana-packed bonus stages. The levels vary from ridiculously easy to outrageously hard - these levels require concentration, patience and a high life count so be warned!Then there's the mini games - you have a nice array of games here including Monkey Golf, Fighting, Wars and Bowling. Please note: Monkey Wars is the best thing that ever happened.Even the Credits doubles up as a seriously fun Breakout-type gameThe gameplay is very good, occasionally let down somewhat by an imperfect camera (but what 3D platformers aren't?)and 2 or 3 infuriatingly hard levels but none of this is enough to take away from it's sheer brilliance.The visuals are vibrant and some of the smoothest seen on the DS. The sound is nice and the tunes don't annoy, which is useful on levels that you may have to play through a dozen times before hitting the GoalI definitely recommend this game - although it might look a little childish it still offers a great challenge, and gameplay so addictive you'll need a patch for it. Go get!

Ok here's the everything you need to know guide to super monkey ball touch and roll. I'd never played a super monkey ball game before on any format BUT!!! I'm glad I did. There are two reasons for this. 1:It's possibly the most addictive game since sonic magic sandals and 2:it's so incredibly simple, though I do recomend you use the D pad as it is much easier to control your monkey. The graphics are brilliant, the sound is brilliant, the gameplay is as you might have guessed brilliant. HOWEVER, there are some courses that are hair tearingly frustrating and you're going to be splitting you punch bag every 10-15 miniutes but apart from that it's great so buy it.PLEASE NOTE:It's not a game you play for more than 30 mins at a time.bye then, yours sincerely Dude Of The World (listen to me I'm only ten)

As soon as i saw an advert for this game i knew that i might buy it.there was jus one thing tht was puttin me off.I had never played super monkey ball before.but i took the risk and bought it along with mario and luigi partners in time(which is also great) and im glad i did.everything about the game is amazing.ive just got one thing to say!if youve played super monkey ball before buy it!if youve never played super monkey ball before buy!!

I loved monkey ball on the game cube one of the best games ever on it, so I had to buy it for the DS,Thing is if you thought it was hard with the analogue stick. Then you should try it with the stylus. I nearly gave up but With a lot of practice I now able to control my monkey..... and its great.not one for the kids (too hard)dont give into the d pad but be prepared to put some time in

I only got this game today and iv only just come off it to write this review!! This game i really good fun it has lots of games to play including mini golf and bowling! The only problem is some of the levels are quite hard to get past so you have to keep trying and youll get really annoyed untill you do it!! Overall i recomend this game to every age!!!!

Since getting this game my Six year old has been unable to put it down, much to my nine year olds dismay, I can't believe how good she is at rolling the monkey in the right direction. (requires quite a lot of practise) I am considering buying a second game to save arguments. A perfect gift for Christmas that should go down very well.

I think it is a good fun for kids, I would say this one is one of the better games to play on ds, graphity quite clear. I didn't find yet any game to be as good as our old good super mario to play on ds, but Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll is good too. And kids like to play it, so it should say everything about the game.

We bought the game for our 7 year old son who has Aspergers Syndrome, not sure if he plays it correctly but he enjoys himself and that in our mind is the most important thing.We also bought one for his friends birthday, he was not interested in it because it is for 3+ on the box.

I love this Game!My friend has this game, and after several failed attempts at stealing hers I brought my own game.I'v got to a level that i cant complete. which is quite annoying. but I steal have loads of fun playing the past levels and the racing games are great great fun!

I found this game very addictive. The first level gets easier with practice and by completing one level you unlock two new ones! Although the other two levels are quite hard this game is still addictive. I also like the mini games like golf and bowling, they're great fun too.

I got this game for my birthday yesterday and it is very addictive. Apart from racing there are other games on it aswell like monkey mini golf and other stuff. I love it when I play races so that I can play them with the stylus! I love this game and it is so much fun!

The most popular ds game we have puchased to date! I bought it for my 6 year old after seeing a friend's game and have a job keeping my 14 year old off it!
