As a fervent amateur DIY fanatic, anything to make my life easier will amaze me - this tool made my life easier when fitting surround sound speakers....The tool is thought through but isn't immediately obvious in usage for stripping the plastic coating from wires - essentially the top is closed and you place the wire between the yellow pincher and the top of the tool, then squeeze and it hold the wire and strips off the end of plastic - it does this VERY neatly and swiftly and works extremely reliably time and time again!!!! I was away for ages stripping bits of wire lol!!!It is clearly designed for use by amateur and professional people and can imagine this saved many many hours of time overthe years for an electrician as it works so much better than a traditional pair of pliers at stripping wires....I would 100% recommend for any electrical work as it is such a time saver and stress saver as it only strips the plastic - with speaker wires etc you can find thin strands of wire get missed or ripped in error but this never did that in a full 10-speaker install!!!It has different size holes for different wire gauges to be stripped but we used these for clamping ends on to the wires to connect wires together as they perfectly clamped them!!! It also does have a traditional plier-type stripping edge but its too easy doing it the intended way with this tool!

I rarely rave about a product. For me if it does what it says on the can then it is good. The Fatmax wire stripper is exceptional. I already had a pair of stripping pliers where there is a finger screw to control the depth of cutting, but after rewiring a pair of speakers where I managed to keep on shortening the cable, unable to easily to determine the depth of cut I decided to get an automatic wire stripper. So far it is tremendous. Virtually any size of cable which will fit in its jaws will be neatly stripped of its outer layer and with multi core cable then with another pass the group of individual cores can then be neatly stepped of their insulation. It is a joy to use.Absolutley easy to use - needs no instructions.I am unable to compare it to any other automatic stripper but this one for me is the bees knees!

A fantastic piece of kit.Comes supplied in the usual plastic display packaging (which is a pain to remove in my opinion),Strips outer casing of twin and earth cable, and the individual live and neutral cables with ease. No more using a knife or wire cutters for me!Allows measurement of length to be stripped and a 'stop' to be set to allow repeat lengths to be stripped.Allows a centre section of wire to be exposed to allow a wire tap to be soldered in to extend or create a new circuit - very useful for automotive use!Wire cutters seem good and cut 2.5mm twin and earth with ease.Only possible downside is that very thin cables cannot be stripped as it cannot be gripped (unless someone knows how to adjust the wire grips?)Can't see me using crimping section, but useful to have it there.

I had previously bought a cheaper brand wire stripper which had failed after a short period and when this item came up on special offer i couldn’t resist. Soft rubber grips ensure that you won’t slip and the precision action of the jaws self adjusts to your chosen cable diameter without any user adjustment necessary. The jaws also have a helpful scale on the side and a small plastic adjustable stop to help get the same length of exposed conductor every time. I have used them for a couple of months now and they are just brilliant. They also come with a cable cutter and crimp sections within the inside edge of the handle but i would only recommend cutting small diameter cable with this.I haven’t used the crimper section yet but its handy to have it there and not have to carry an additional tool.

I'm very much an amateur so far as things electrical are concerned. Until I discovered this tool the little wires inside a cable were never too much of a problem. I always had trouble though with the outer covering. A fraction too much pressure and I had cut into one of the smaller jobs inside. This dedicated tool has been a great joy to me. It cuts through the outer cable covering - albeit sometimes with more than one squeeze of the handles - and it will deal with the inner wires either one at a time or individually if you want differing lengths. The instructions aren't as clear as they might be for people like me but you will discover by trial and error, for example, that the small yellow spacer can be moved out of the way entirely when necessary. Nonetheless it is very good value for money.

Was tempted by cheaper offerings on the website however the Stanley fatmax range has never let me down so far so I decided to pay the extra and get these.Very happy with the purchase! Previously I’ve used a knife of some kind to strip wires and never really saw the news for a tool to carry out the same job, however I am currently rewiring a number of rooms in my house and this has made things so much easier and cool proof. Cable wastage is minimal as I makes the cuts perfectly every time.Obviously when wiring any fixed appliances / outlets in the home make sure you are safe and turn off power at the distribution board. Also ensure you are qualified to carry out the work or that you are aware of the sign off procedures in place to approve your work (Part P for U.K.residents).

Very easy to use. You simply slot the wire between the jaws and squeeze the handles. You don’t even have to adjust it for the wire size as it does all that. There is a little screw that allows you to adjust the grip that the tool applies to the cable but I find that leaving it in the middle of the adjustment range is just fine. There is a stop that you can use to set the amount of insulation that is removed (the little yellow thing in the pictures) but you can rotate it out of the way and judge it by eye if you want. There is a also basic crimping feature that will crimp both insulated and non-insulated terminals. The single slot marked with 3 coloured dots does the 3 most commonly used colour coded insulated terminals and the remaining slots are for non-insulated terminals.

A good solid piece of equipment. I have up till now used ordinary manual strippers , but I thought I would give these a try.I'm impressed at the moment.Really quick and simple to use on twin core and earth (Not the outer sheath).I haven’t used on anything bigger than 2.5mm. But imagine they will be fine, certainly up to 6mm.Update: So, I have now had these for a few months and they are holding up well.I'm regularly stripping all sizes, up to 10mm cable and they work extremely well.I have enclosed a photo of me stripping 10mm Earth/CPC.I find, with the larger size cables, it is better to do a short sharp snap, rather than a slow pull.Recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.

I've used automatic wire strippers for many years, those ones that kinda look like a dinosaur head. Unfortunately my old ones got damaged, so when I needed to fit an in line switch on table lamp I looked for a replacement.I had intended to get same as old ones, however many of these appeared to be cheap and cheerful, not very robust. This had good reviews, and although I have not seen this design before, I thought I'd take a chance. I'm very glad I did! These are sturdy, appear well made and designed, and very easy to use (even better than my old ones), despite being disabled (don't require much strength or good grip).I definitely recommend these, and would give them 6 stars!

All the video's and demonstrations I could find online for this tool showed it being used professionally with a variety of mains cables.Whilst I do re-wire the odd plug, my wire stripping needs are usually around stripping 22AWG wires and despite these being rather chunky, they strip the 22AWG wires perfectly and predictably. When I'm building kits up, I tend to have to make up a lot of connecting cables and although I'm well practiced at stripping wires, sometimes you can still make a mistake. With this tool, there are no more mistakes. Every wire is stripped perfectly every time. This saves so much time for me it'll pay for itself in time saved within a month.

I used to have an automatic wire stripper that my Father acquired for me many years ago. Unable to get new cutting teeth for that item I had to look around for a suitable replacement and found this Stanley model. It leaves my old one standing. Sorry Dad! No need for pre trimming with a blade. This machine takes the outer coating of the cable off exactly where you want it to without damaging the inner wires. They, the inner wires, can then be stripped, all three together, to the same length if required. The whole operation takes just seconds. Why did I not discover this superb tool earlier. Loved it so much I bought my son one as a "reverse Fathers' Day present"

Really good quality item which I bought to strip wire in the middle of a run in order to splice in a soldered joint. The pliers are a joy to use, very well made and have a quality feel about them with lots of adjustments available to carry out a clean splice without damage to the wire. They incorporate a crimping function too but I would recommend a plier specifically for this purpose as it is easy to incorrectly crimp connectors leading to failure. However with care they will produce a reasonable crimp. They do the job I wanted, and often perform, safely and without damage to the wire. Would have no hesitation in recommending.

If you are looking for a multi-purpose cable stripper this is ideal. It'll do up to 6mm twin and earth and all the way down to headphone audio cables. It'll strip the outer jackets of cable insulation as well as the individual cable's insulation. It saves nicking the copper with a Stanley knife (and risking ampuitating your thumb!). It'll also let you cut cables cleanly to cut down on wastage. I haven't used it for any crimping so I can't comment. It feels sturdy and durable. It's perfect for professional and DIY use. Every electrician needs this as it's a timesaver as well as something that cuts and strips neatly.

It's actually quite magical. I'm a keen DIY'er that loves tools. I've spent decades (literally) peeling cables with my teeth, cheap as chips wire strippers (the flat ones) or cutting pliers, always making a meal of it; breaking the copper strands, cutting myself.Having said that, the 'additional' features (crimping and cutting - under the hinge) pale in comparison. They should have been left out, they bring the overall product down, they're no worse than the cheap crimpers/cutters out there, but the stripper bit is so good , that they should not have attempted to offer more features just for the sake of it.
