I was sent this product as a review sample; however these are all honest opinions and thoughts on the product. If you have any questions about this product I will get back to you ASAP.Packaging:The product arrived in a small and smart cardboard/plastic box, in a plastic inner holder containing the hand grip and a few other bits. It came with a lanyard and a GoPro screw/nut and spanner in case you hadn't got any others.Appearance:The grip has a really nice finish, it feels really premium and has a matt colour, not shiny. The carbon fiber does not appear to be woven, but has the really cool carbon fibre on display. The blue accents are a nice touch, but don't make the grip bright or garish.Functionality:The first thing i noticed when i took it out the box was just how light it is, the centre of gravity with the GoPro attached is right at the screw mount. It says on the packaging that is weighs 60g but it feels even lighter than that. It feels really comfortable, however isn't a super grippy material. I will be using this mainly for a small lightweight grip for my GoPro when filming normally, however being a floaty grip it means you can use it in a pool or even the sea and not have the worry of your GoPro sinking away into the abyss.Build Quality:Smatree are a great brand, and I have bought other GoPro accessories from them on several occasions. Their other poles/cases are all really well designed and of a really high quality. This grip is no exception, the carbon fibre and aluminium build it really well done, with no imperfections. It is incredibly simple with no moving parts, so it should last a very long time and stand up to a lot of wear and tear.Summary:As both a normal grip and an underwater grip, this performs exactly how it should - Lightweight - Sturdy - Nice Design - Secure.HIghly recommend this grip for anyone looking for either an underwater grip or just as a versatile & compact grip for your GoPro.

I have tried a few floating handles now and never really been that impressed. Either they were a bit flimsy, they had no grip and slipped in your hand, there was no wrist strap etc. The F1 pole, however, is superb!I scuba dive, and do a lot of in water filming for our scuba club in the pool or confined waters. This handle was given a good first use filming some novice scuba trainees and their instructors in the pool.Firstly, and oh so importantly, this thing is LIGHT! 60g it says on the box, but thats including the wrist strap i think. Speaking of the wrist strap, it is pretty much perfect. its long enough that you can confidently let go of the handle and it will float around in the water while you need both hands free, but also its secure and comfortable. the handle carbon fibre, and although it has a smooth finish, there was little to no sliding around in my hand underwater or on the surface when wet. this was a big problem i had with some other handles so was pleased to see this was not a problem with this!the other great thing is the build quality - no flimsy attachment connectors here, they are made from aluminium (i think!) which gives me a lot more confidence than weaker plastic ones on other handles. Also the bolt screws directly into the mount and not using the little bolt like with other handles that i have actually lost before - another big positive for me.The handles size is great - longer than just a grip, but not too long or pole length. it give good secure flexibility when filming for me but enough reach to get variety. All in all a well made product that meets all my needs and I am sure it will for a lot of other people as well - oh and it isn't an offensive colour either! I own many Smatree products now, and i am always impressed with the quality for the price in question! This product was received as a review sample, but I always give honest and unbiased reviews for any product under test.

This review is for the SmaPole F1 Floating Hand Grip. It arrived well packaged and in very fast time. The pole is light weight and easy to hold. It feels strong and sturdy in my grip. I had concerns that the handle would be slippery when it got wet but this is not the case. The slightly textured outside remained easy to hold and well gripped in my wet hand. My hands are not large yet I found the handle comfortable to hold. The wrist strap, which screws into the tripod socket at the bottom, gave me confidence that if knocked from grip it would still be attached to me. If the wrist strap is not attached the pole is still water tight. When attaching my GoPro to the mount I was disappointed that the silver bolt was not attached to the mount itself (as with some you can purchase) but was separate and need to be screwed on once the camera and pin were in place. This could cause a problem if you are attaching and detaching your camera in conditions which are not ideal. In deep water the pole kept my GoPro afloat though the stick does tip up on end with the weight of the camera, leaving only the coloured end (blue in this case) visible. So if you are expecting it to float horizontally (I don't know if any of them do) this is not going to happen if the camera is attached. And if you have not attached the wrist strap it may not be as easy to spot bobbing in lets say a lake versus a pool. My only remaining question is, what happens to the temperature of the pole in strong sunlight? As it is not warm enough where I live to test at the moment.

This GoPro Pole is extremely great value for money due to its features and build quality. The pole itself is made of carbon fiber and light yet durable metal therefore making it resistant to damage and tough. It also makes it light helping the floating ability of the pole. There is a tether included to stop the user loosing the pole whist using it. It attaches to the tripod thread on the bottom of the poleIt has a protective coating over the carbon fiber to make it grippy and water proof to stop the pole filling with waterThe metal parts are attached well and will not bend easily after an accident or dropping of the pole. The Pros:+Great build quality+Extremely light at 60g+Great size forportability+Tough and durable build material+Safety tether included+GoPro mount already attatched+Tripod screw on bottom to attach to other mounts+Simple to use+Floats to avoid lost camera in water+Easy to hold (Great size)+Value for money is great+CheapCons:-Not ExtendableThis pole is great value for money making it an excellent purchase and an add on accessory for a GoPro cameraBlog: https://elltechnology.wordpress.com/2015/06/09/smapole-f1-review-video/Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoDzNUjQGVM

A great pole!I got the pole to allow me to put the GoPro into places that were out of reach, mainly on my frequent visits to rockpools! I’ve been able to capture some great underwater footage of marine life using the pole. After its first use I even dismantled the pole to be sure it was properly cleaned…and even for me it was a doddle to do. I don’t intend to strip it down after each salt water plunge but it is good to know that it is easy to do.I’m very pleased with the overall reach of the pole and the build quality is very good, something I’ve become accustomed to with Smatree products. A great feature is the twist locking for each extension that allows me to extend the pole to my desired length, the pole is steady throughout its extension. Another nice touch is the aluminium spanner and mounting screw that came supplied, it allowed me to really secure the camera to the pole.Smatree package their products very well & something I’m always pleased about is the recyclable packaging, delivery times are spot on too. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the pole to family & friends…it’s a great product.

I was sent this item to review in return for my honest opinion. I love the feel of this item and the build quality. That said I see potential for 'failure' with the way the lanyard attaches. Instead of the attachment being through a permanently fixed hole, the attachment screws in so I see the potential for this to come loose. In saying that, a dab of grip tight would possibly rectify this. I did find a use for the fact that it screws in however, I attached the SmaPole to my Gorillapod allowing for a taller makeshift tripod.Having previously used the stubby yellow floating handgrip that's readily available on Amazon and eBay I can say that both work as intended.I personally prefer the form factor of the yellow versions (the stubby element sitting comfortably in the hand and the shorter element easier to pack) however I feel this SmaPole iteration will last far far longer whilst the other has probably died from it's brittle nature.Although the finish oozes quality, a flash of bright colour would help if the SmaPole is found floating for quicker localisation of the GoPro again.

I was shocked at how light the package was when it arrived, this is due to the lightweight carbon fibre hollow body of the pole, which is what makes the product float and also looks great. This item is far better looking than Gopro's own equivalent 'The Handler' and also cheaper. The pole comes with a screw in, adjustable strap for added security when using in the water. When the strap is not screwed in you can also attach the pole to a tripod (the pole also remains water tight without the strap screwed in). The strap is made of quite thick material that doesn't dig into you're wrist even when quite tight. The aluminium mount is strong and allows you to fasten the screw quite tight even without using a wrench tool, though if you're taking your camera into deep water it's best to make it as tight as possible. The carbon fibre body not only looks great but is also slightly textured which makes it easier to hold and less slippy when wet.Overall this is another great product from Smatree!

I was sent this as a review sample; however these are all honest opinions and thoughts on the product. The product arrived in a small and smart cardboard, in a plastic inner liner/holder containing the hand grip and a few other bits. It came with a lanyard and a GoPro screw/nut. The grip has an awesome finish and feels great in the hand. The unidirectional carbon wrap gives it a nice look and the anodised blue end caps finish it very well, making it look very high end. The first thing I noticed when I took it out the box was just how light and just how comfortable it is in the hand. The lanyard is made of light, stretchy material and feels very solid, It attaches to the grip via a bolt that screws into the bottom of the handle, which is also the same size as a camera tripod thread. All in all this is the first product from Smatree and I am very impressed and would recommend it to anyone looking for a floating hand grip or just a grip in general.

There are a plethora of companies out there producing accessories for GoPro cameras, and it really can be hit or miss as to whether what you receive lives up to the promises the manufacturers make. One company whose products have so far impressed me have been Smatree, and having already purchased their batteries and a case I was intrigued by the SmaPole F1, given the claims of carbon fibre construction at such a low price point.I suppose in the back of my mind I was convinced this was going to be the one product that soured my opinion of the brand, afterall what could I expect for under £13?Of course there was nothing to worry about, the SmaPole F1 is every bit as good as the rest of my Smatree purchases - well finished, lightweight and with that nice tactile grip you get with carbon fibre. As of yet I haven't managed to test its floatability (c'mon, it's December) however I'm sure there won't be any complaints in that area either.

Having already owned an extendable Smatree selfie pole I wanted something smaller (to keep in a bag or pocket) and this fits the bill perfectly. The first thing you notice about this product is how light it is. It's very light weight being carbon fibre, and comes with a removable screw in strap. However, unless I'm using this is water I wouldn't bother using the strap. This is ideal for selfie shots and can be carried anywhere. It fits inside a bag easily enough and you'd be hard pushed to find anything better at this price. Smatree already have a good reputation for creating Go Pro accessories and this is no exception. All Smatree products come with the correct fittings and instructions which is what makes me buy their stuff. It's well thought out and they are always developing new products.

The Smatree SmaPole F1 Floating Hand Grip is a quality and stylish grip from the GoPro industry leaders Smatree. Not only does it float with your GoPro device attached, it just looks so cool as well to the user. The quarter inch female screw threat means it can be used above water for tripod mounting. Below water, you use it to attach the wrist restraint. The excellent thing about Smatree is their collaborative sense of building GoPro items for GoPro users. Not the other way around. Highly recommend this device if you are a swimmer/surfer/scuba guy/girl. Highly recommend seller. Would purchase again. I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for a fair and honest review. Simply put,you can't go wrong with Smatree and I didn't.

Not really sure why all of the reviews appear in the same stream for different products! This floating GoPro grip is made to a high standard - which is usual for Smatree. It is very lightweight and feels great in the hand! The metal mount is a nice touch as you don't need to worry about the end nut falling in the sand, there isn't one! It's built in! The finish is smooth to the touch but the removeable wrist leash will keep it in place should you loose grip.Overall I am very pleased, it's my third Smatree product and they all have been excellent.Just so you know, I bought this grip with my own hard earned cash!It was not given to me so I might write something nice in this review - which seems to becoming more and more frequent!

I’m a big fan of Smatree. Their products are just great, with excellent build quality. This SmaPole is exactly what I was looking for. It looks great, it’s super lightweight, and it’s very short. I already have an extendable SmaPole (see pics for size comparison) which I find is great for snorkelling etc, but not so good for snowboarding (too long in my opinion). Having done some research on what is best for my GoPro 7 when snowboarding, it’s clear that a short lightweight pole works better. This SmaPole is about the same size as a gimbal, but far lighter and much less hassle. The GoPro 7 stabilisation means you don’t really need a gimbal anymore making this SmaPole the perfect snowboardingcompanion for my GoPro!!

I was afraid the handle would be too slippery but it is not.keeps the go pro floating no problem and looks and feels great.Biggest problem i had: after about 4 hours of use the safety wrist band unscrewed itself from the pole, which makes me scared to lose it (it does not have an easy to spot color when using it in unclear sea water), so now i check if it still screwed tight every +-hour.Minor detail: The big white Smatree logo on the pole started rubbing off right away and was completely gone after about 2 hours of use. (first use was in chlorified water, not sure if this is what made the logo rub off).PS: I did not test/use the plastic thumbscrew that ships with it.

I bought this product for an SJ5000x Elite, it fits perfectly! The pole itself is made from carbon fibre and aluminium. It makes it really light, while feeling strong and sturdy. There's no plastic connectors here, the connector is aluminium, making things feel more secure. The pole is quite smooth, but the mat finish means it doesn't get slippy. It comes with an adjustable toggle lanyard that screws into the bottom of the pole. This was the main selling point for me, being able to tighten the lanyard around my wrist while filming underwater. When not in use, the pole can be screwed into a tripod.
