I was a little reluctant to order this given the price, to go with a device that doesn't actually need a keyboard. I was considering ordering a 3rd party bluetooth device and saving a few pounds. I'm glad I took the plunge, the keyboard is beautifully built and is clearly a high quality product. It connects automatically when you push the GT into the slot and provides dedicated keys for many functions. Examples are screen brightness, volume +/-/mute , fast forward, rewind, play/pause, internet, google search and a few others. It also duplicates the menu, home, back and search buttons. Accented characters are available by holding the control key first PAUSE AND THEN pressing a letter. (n.b.this is different in feel to control and character in the usual PC sense) e.g. using this method, control and e gives a choice of è é ê ë.It is a very high quality keyboard and performs its primary function, fast easy volume typing, beautifully. It doesn't need batteries as it takes its power from the Tab.If you plug the USB cable that came with the Tab into it, it will act as either a charging station or PC docking station depending on where the other end is plugged. It also has an audio jack socket on the back for headphones or audio cable so can double as a sound system docking station.Any negatives? well it only holds the Tab in portrait mode, not landscape, and it doesn't have the HDMI output socket that comes with the multimedia desk dock which is sold separately. Then again, it doesn't claim to do either of those two, so it's not really a fair criticism. Also it is quite bulky and it plus the Tab are less portable than a netbook, so, unless you must, I would see it as a leave at home or office accessory.

I am a journalist and I bought the keyboard to use it together with the Galaxy Tab during press conferences. I am a very fast typist - 360 keys per minute, so to me comfortable keyboard is vital. I can say it feels great and the keys are extremely comfortable. It took me about half an hour to get used to the keyboard and its functionality.Just attaching the Galaxy on the keyboard and connection is there. However, for anyone who uses Cyrillic alphabet, it is almost a chemical reaction to press each time all buttons to make it work correctly. The Cyrillic alphabet works flawlessly when the keyboard is not attached to the keyboard and it goes completely wrong when it is on. So it is a bit of discovery how it works. It happens in the end but it takes me additional minute to adjust it before I begin typing. If I stop working and the device is locked, I have to go through this all over again, which during a longer conference means the screen should be permanently on.However the keyboard brought completely new functionality to my tablet and instead of using it just for fun, now I can turn it into a computer any time I need it and I just throw it in my purse, no extra computer bag needed.By the way, if you would like to put any protection on your tablet, each time you have to attach it to the keyboard, naturally, you have to take it off.I would have liked better if the tab was attached horizontally to the keyboard and not vertically.

Having had my Galaxy Tab for a year, I finally gave in and bought this keyboard. I don't really need it as I'm happy with Swype, but I'm rather pleased with it!Good points:The tablet slots in well and connects immediatelyIt's a nice stable support for watching video, browsing etc. There are some useful keyboard shortcutsLower priceBad points:It's a bit cumbersome to carry aroundYou have to reselect your preferred input method (such as Swype) afterwardsYou can't put the tablet in portrait modeThe keyboard has no USB portIt doesn't have its own battery so can't charge the tablet itself (but that would make it heavier)You can't plug headphones in,only a speaker (but you can connect a Bluetooth headset)You have to remove the tablet from its case to attach it to the keyboardThe low price encouraged me to buy it despite the above niggles. At full price, I probably wouldn't have bothered. However, it's nice to use and would probably be useful on a long trip, especially if you're taking the tablet instead of a laptop.

The idea of buying this keyboard was to make things a little better if lots of typing is to be done. There are some office style apps on the tablet and the standard on-screen typing can be slow so this keyboard makes things a little more comfortable, and that bit faster. Setup is easy - the tablet simply sits in the slot at the top and that's it. It's also possible to 'hide' the on-screen keyboard which means that there's a lot more screen to view and is a bonus on a tablet of this size.In effect this keyboard turns the tablet into a mini laptop and I feel that it's been a good purchase. It has built in connections which mean that the charging lead can be connected to the keyboard which then feeds in to the tablet and charges it whilst you work. It's also proven to be a great little stand when I'm using the tablet to watch films or videos. The keyboard seems to be very well made and I expect years of faultless use from it.

+ves* Really nice to type on and responsive.* Very good build quality* Sits very nicely and comfortably on your lap* pretty much all the keys are useful and makes navigation round your tab a breeze after some practise.* great if you need to fire off emails that are a bit longer than the usual* basic shortcut key commands such as select all, Copy, cut and paste all work.-ves* no landscape option (but its understandable and not a deal breaker for me)* sometimes the keyboard does not connect right away and I have to reset the tab to get a connection back - hence 4 stars* including a simple carry case would have been sensible*Advanced short cut keys such as inserting accented letters ä ö ü etc donot work

This is a superbly crafted piece of kit – neat, robust – just the right weight to hold the Samsung 8.9 firmly, excellent for the price. The photograph isn't accurate – the keyboard holds the tab in the landscape position, an inch or so wider at each side. The keys are a pleasure to use, some useful additions replicating tab functions such as back, tasks, home, Internet, Mail and so on. Makes typing emails and documents a breeze. I haven't yet found a way to stop the on-screen keyboard popping up every time I touch the screen, though it only takes a keypress to get rid of it and it's a minor gripe.Delivered within just one working day, 3 days earlier than promised – excellent Amazon service.

This good quality matte white keyboard dock for the Galaxy Tab is surprisingly weighty - much heavier than the keyboard on my iMac, though it has a similar style of chiclet keys. The keyboard comes without any supplied plugs or leads - it uses the tablet's mains charger as its power supply - and in addition to a portrait ONLY docking position has a single 3.5mm audio out port inbuilt. It is a slight shame that for docking purposes the tablet can only be used in one orientation - and not the optimal one for e.g. video playback - but this is a minor niggle compared to how useful it is to be able to write more sustained chunks of text on a full-size keyboard.

The picture is wrong (it's of the dock with the adapter for the 7inch Tab, not the 8.9) and the description isn't hugely helpful (P5 is an uncommon code for what is usually referred to as the P7300 or P7310) but the product is perfect. How they can sell it for one third of what others are charging I don't know but I'm certainly not complaining. They keyboard is rock solid and fast to type on, it holds the Tab securely and the shortcut keys, audio-out and charging/sync socket are all bonuses. I couldn't bring myself to pay £45 for one but for £16.95 (May 2013) it's just brilliant.

Keyboard is very easy to use, no Bluetooth tethering required or so. Just slide in your tablet and that is it. Apart from qwerty keyboard, you find there some of the screen buttons reproduced so no need of touching screen and keyboard. The only disadvantage is you can't use wallet type covers as won't correctly slot in. It has to be removed first.Keys are nice size and very good feel when typing. It is also raised a bit at the back, similar way to PC keyboards. Slotted tab is kept in place at some angle so no issues with ergonomics.

Picked one of these up recently. I was surprised with the exceptional build quality of this item. It feels like a really premium product (which it should be for the price). The G Tab is held in to place very securely and the keyboard dock provides some very useful short cuts keys to improve the overall experience. It is also compact and looks good.My one criticism is that Samsung did not provide a charging connector in the box. What would this really cost them to provide? A bit tight if you ask me.

At this price it is a very good dock. It seems well made and has a robust feel. The shortcuts are very good and typing is much, much easier than on the touch screen. When typing you don't need the keyboard to appear on the screen which gives you a lot more screen real estate and really makes it feel like you have a tiny laptop with touch controls! The audio out works fine with no crackle when power is attached (unlike my galaxy phone dock!).

Brilliant! Its so solid and lovely to type on. I'm really impressed. My tablet slots in Landscape orientation which is brilliant. I think some reviews say it only goes in portrait? I'm delighted with it. Such a good price. Delivery was sooo fast considering I had to order via a UK address to get to republic of ireland. I wasn't expecting it so quick.Very satisfied customer. A+++++

What a great Christmas present, it is solid, well made, and so easy to use. Very impressed with this item! The tablet sits nicely in the dock and it really does look like a laptop. Now just to find a cool carry case. Buy this if you haven't already, you'll not be disappointed.

A Samsung branded keyboard for the tab 8.9. Please note that this won't work on the 10.1 tabs or the notes unless you take the black plastic fitting off.Arrived boxed and sealed - works perfectly - a bargain for under a tenner!
