I have been using the Samsung S5e for a number of days as my main device and I have been incredibly impressed. I opted for the 128gb LTE model after much consideration. In the end, I was drawn towards this model because it offered a larger amount of ram, making multitasking easier, and the option to be able to use cellular data if needed when out and about. Yes, this adds a considerable amount of additional cost, but you can’t go back and change your mind a few months down the line! As a loyal Samsung customer, fully immersed in the Samsung ecosystem, picking the brand was easy. I already use the Galaxy S10+, and I have always appreciated the build quality and clarity of their AMOLED displays which many manufacturers cannot match.I also used to use a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 a number of years ago, which was my trusty travel companion for a long while until it became too outdated for modern software demands. Coupled with the excellent reviews for the S5e, it was basically a no-brainer. And I haven’t regretted it one bit.The S5e is made from a mix of metal and glass. It feels exceptionally well made but not too durable. Like many thin devices, I would worry about this bending under pressure. For this reason I would highly recommend pairing it will a sturdy case to prevent any accidental damage. The screen provides good feedback when typing, and does not have any give which can be felt in cheaper screens. The silver back plate looks great but feels a little slippery in the hand. Again, a case is advisable to rectify this. On the outside of the device there is a power on/off button, a volume rocker and USB TYPE-C port, commonly found on higher end devices. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, which is unfortunate but part of the modern day trend in consumer electronics. Thankfully, Samsung include a 3.5mm adaptor in the box, although this will prevent you from charging and listening to music simultaneously. Paired with my QC35 headphones, the bluetooth connection is strong, and I have not really missed the port day to day.Set-up is super easy. The S5e uses the typical Samsung initialisation process which allows for the use of Smart Switch. If you want to port your data from an old tablet, using this will have you up and running in no time! The new One UI interface looks far more attractive than Samsung Experience, and is well optimised for use on a tablet. If you have used a Samsung smartphone from the Galaxy line, you will instantly feel at home. One of the major attracting features for me was the option to use Samsung DeX. I have used this previously on my S10+, and it has been great for work, but the convenience of being able to use DeX without connecting an external screen was very appealing. Of course, you can still connect an external monitor via a USB hub, but I haven’t really found a need to do this. It works well on the 10 inch screen and remains quick and responsive throughout, even with multiple windowed apps open at once. I was a little concerned about this due to the midrange Snapdragon processor, but paired with the 6gb ram this tablet is more than capable. The screen is wonderful to use for watching movies and videos from on demand services. Colours pop and black levels are good. The ambient light sensor is in a poor position, and holding the tablet in landscape sometimes causes the screen to dim.Although I do not use my tablet for gaming, I have tried to use a few of the more graphically intensive games I could find on the Play Store. Most of the games do not default to ultra settings, but the S5e manages well on medium and sometimes high settings. Then again, as this is part of the ‘essentials’ range, it was never really designed for this. But it is nice to know that it is capable nonetheless. One of the gripes I have with this tablet is the poor placement of the wifi antenna. It is located in the bottom half of the tablet, right where your hands are placed when you’re holding it in landscape. This does not cause a complete disconnection in most cases in my home, but will knock off two bars and cause intermittent ‘no internet’ messages to appear on screen. This issue is somewhat abated when using a case, but still noticeable. I have taken to supporting the tablet from the back of the device when using it in landscape. It’s an annoyance, but not a deal breaker for me. I am however very pleased with the performance of the four speakers. The pairing of AKG tuned speakers in each corner and Dolby Atmos audio processing means the S5e sounds great for watching films, listening to music and playing games. The audio feels truly directional, and the speakers are able to accurately reproduce background noises to the extent that sometimes I can’t work out whether the sound is coming from the tablet or the environment around me. That may sound a little implausible, but I can honestly say I have never experienced anything quite like it from a mobile device. It’s unsettling, but exceptional! In conclusion, I think is a brilliant tablet. Although, it will not suit everyone. If you want to play games and edit videos, look more towards the non-essential version which comes with the latest premium-line Snapdragon SOC. But, if you want a tablet for media consumption and for basic productivity tasks, the S5e fits the bill perfectly. I just wish HDR was supported!

Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e. 10.5". 128gb. 6gb ram. Gold.[I bought it locally before I found it on Amazon for the same price (£439).]It's a great tablet! Externally, metal and glass (no plastic). Very slim and light. The amoled screen is simply stunning and vibrant, pin sharp! Bought the 128gb and 6gb ram version and very pleased I did as everything is lightening fast and responsive. The battery life is excellent in my view. You can set it up for fast or standard charging. The screen brightness can easily be adjusted in Settings (as well as dragging two fingers down from the top) to a level which is comfortable, as with all Android tablets and phones - someone said they had a terrible problem with the bright screen.Personally I have it on a very low setting which I find best for the eyes. I also have it on Adaptive brightness, but I haven't yet tried the Blue light filter for nightime. I have Screen mode on Adaptive display which gives really clean colours. I have night or dark mode on, which helps not only the eyes but the battery life too. I have screen timeout on 5 mins of inactivity, which I find adequate for use.Have not experienced any wifi dropout or refresh screen problems one or two others have mentioned. It's a very stable and reliable tablet.Using the finger print reader to turn the tablet on is really excellent. I've found it to be very responsive. No need to press the button (although you can if you want), instead just cover it and move your finger slightly and it usually responds instantly. If problematic, it's easy to re-setup that option in Settings > Biometrics to get a better read of your print. Even so, every now and again it will ask you to enter your 4 digit pin for the sake of security, which I think is a sensible idea (although the fingerprint is said to be secure). The 13mp camera is extremely good and takes brilliant pics (haven't used the 8mp selfie yet). Can't say much about the sound as I'm partially deaf, but others say it's also excellent. All the ringtones, beeps, whistles and bells are configurable. The on-screen keyboard is also brilliant. I have setup the high contrast version which is white and yellow on black, or black on yellow for capitals. Simply stunning! In short, for me, everything works like a dream.Personally I'm not unhappy with the tailor-made samsung software options. If you are then you can easily ignore them as they are not intrusive in my view. The Samsung email app is excellent as is their own browser. I'm warming to Samsung's Bixby Home (swipe from the left), which is highly configurable. So time will tell.Personally I prefer to use Android 9's night or dark option, which becomes pretty much universally applied, except in a few places. All in all a really great tablet and excellent value for money in my view if comparing it with overpriced Apple products. Well done Samsung!Oh, and it definitely does need a cover to protect it; especially if you are going to take it out and about. I bought a black Infiland, which uses the cover as a two mode triangular stand, on Amazon. It's relatively cheap, extremely well made and great value for money, fitting the tablet like a glove (you might want to read my review there for all the details).

Upgrading from a Galaxy Tab S3, I thought I'd miss the HDR and the S-Pen, but I was wrong. I'm so glad i didn't pay the extra for one of Samsung's more 'premium' tablets, this one is outstanding especially for the price. The screen is incredible. Compared against an iPad Pro, YouTube videos play in higher resolution. Videos in 1440p just look amazing. The audio is nuts. The speakers sound so good and get so loud, without distorting, and the 4 of them project sound so you'd think it was coming from all over the place. It's super light, way lighter than an iPad, and insanely slim.If your main uses for a tablet are watching videos, listening to music, viewing photos, and browsing the web - I simply don't know why you'd pay more or get any other tablet. It may not have 'the best performance' for games, but if i'm gaming I'm using my Switch or PS4 not a tablet. If I had to list any negatives... I think we all know Android Apps designed for a tablet screen are few and far between, however there's plenty of games if you want that, the main productivity apps work on Android fine (just get a cheap Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and you're sorted) but for consuming media you won't really find better.

I bought this tablet not from his retailer, online for £499, the current going price, not a sale. I heavily adjusted the parameters to suit my preferences, and use it in developpers mode, with some added speed and screen animation cut. This is not a gamers tablet, but I don't play games. This tablet doesn't have a long battery life in my current chosen high performance settings either. But it doesn't matter since I have a charger at home and at the office. What this tablet has in its favour is : (1) super thin and super light form factor, (2) excellent screen, offering a truly superb image, (3) smooth operations for multimedia and office tasks, runs MS office 365 suite well, Netflix and Amazon video,(4) extraordinary sound, and I mean bluffingly good 3D sound, (5) massive memory at 128 GB, and obviously good integration with my android phone. For the price of my chinese android phone + Samsung tablet, I could get either a comparable iPhone or iPad but not both. Have fun thinking about that. I don't have the Samsung keyboard but I'm considering getting it seriously. Highly recommended tablet.

Great little tablet. The only thing that makes this tablet behind some of the more pricey competition is it has a slower processor than they have. That's not to say this processor is slow though, it is quite efficient. Although, if you are a gamer and like a lot of multi tasking then you may notice it not being quite as quick with some of the more demanding games. For general use this tablets is very smooth and it's gorgeous display is actually better than most of the more pricey competition. It's light and not very bulky though still maintaining a nice big screen to show off the display. The speakers are also a suprise. I would never usually rely on tablet speakers for media use other than just basic usage, but these speakers are very good. They have a punch to them and while they obviously won't be as full sounding as your home stereo system, they are perfectly adiqute for listening to music or watching a film with, the stereo field is very nice when listening to it on my chest laying down.

Let's start off with the screen, this is something Samsung always do well and they havent skimped here in anyway, amazing picture quality as always especially for a bigger screen. The speakers sound clear with a good amount of bass.Overall design is very nice, face recognition and finger print scanner is the best I've used. Currently got a Note 8 and face recognition is awful and so is the scanner on the phone. Could be from a bad batch so take that with a grain of salt. The tablet isnt slow by any means and keeps up well with today's standards, but where you get extra points you have to dull down somewhere which is the CPU; which day to day use it makes no odds.Only matters if you're wanting to game on it which just isnt for me. I've got a PC for that. Overall I'm very happy with the quality of this tablet and hopefully it doesn't only last a year due to the battery failing like my last Samsung tablet. Please dont disappoint me in that department like your phones.

Had it for a few days now and I can say it is great little table! The screen is absolutely amazing, very bright, colours look great. Battery life is also brilliant, have only charged it once when i got it out the box and its still sitting at 40% now 4 days on. The sound is incredible, I couldn't speak highly enough about the built in speakers, was very pleasantly surprised. Lastly the overall build quality feels premium, and practical, a brilliant tablet for media consumption and/or light work (Word, excel etc..)There is however one big downside for me, which is why I couldn't give it 5 stars, and that is the laggy UI, animations are not smooth, there is a lot jumping/stuttering which I didnt expect form a tablet in this price range.Im comparing this to the experience Ive had on my google pixel 2, where even to this day everything is silky smooth. Not sure if its Samsungs software causing this, but im hopeful it could be fixed with an update.

Only had it for a short time, but it blows me away. Its very thin and it is lightweight which ticks the main box in terms of my requirements. I travel a lot and I try and travel light. Lugging a laptop with me has basically driven me nuts. This S5e solves that problem once and for all. Plus I'm "old" and my eyesight and hearing is not the best! This display is bight and because of the OLED black is black, text is just so easy to read. As for the sound, it is far the best on any device I own so clear and bright. For work I use Office 365, which is well supported in Android and I can easily acomplish all of my daily tasks with this device. For relaxation, I listen to music, watch video's and play the odd easy game. This device has the potential to be one of the few, best devices I have ever purchased. I don't say that lightly as the only other device that has rightly achived that acolade is my Delongi ECAM bean to cup machine!

The tablet is very light and thin, which may not be suitable for those who aren't careful with their devices. If you'd like to buy the corresponding keyboard case it's over 1/3 of the price of the tablet which seems excessive. The tablet is fast, as is the side mounted fingerprint sensor. The tablet is extremely attractive, with slim borders are a matte metal design which makes it appear more premium than it is. The camera is of low quality, but not really the intended and common use of a tablet. The tablet handles high graphics games well and doesn't overheat. The battery life of course depends on usage, with heavy usage lasting easily 12 hours. Overall a good mid-range tablet, which is relatively affordable. Would definitely recommend. Review after 6 months of usage, little battery deterioration, nor scratches to the screen or body of tablet. Tablet stills runs smootly

Superb screen/picture, sound, and endless helpful features are in abundance in the extremely thin Tab S5e LTE. Yes, as well as a zippy lag-free performance, it makes and receives phone calls too. Indeed, it does everything I expected of it and more, but the gob smacking sound from the onboard AKG tuned dolby atmos quad speakers is a huge surprise; they are truly almighty in their richness and ability to further immerse me into the gorgeous screen. The Windows 10-like desktop feature makes the Tab S5e a productive as well as a compelling entertainment thriller. In many ways, the Huawei Mediapad M5 10.8 is just as good as this newbie, but its Pro iteration has the advantage of a stylus. Anyway, this is truly an excellent performer from Samsung, and the price is about right, too; media excellence in paper-thin tablet form. Expect to be as thrilled as I am.

First impressions after two days use are that this is a great value for money product with good performance for day to day use. I’ve had no issues with consuming video, multiple tab browsing on chrome and other general apps from the play store. I’m running this tablet side by side with my iPad 12.9 and the display is comparable although obviously smaller however the colours are in my opinion slightly better and sharper. Next step is to get the micro sod card and storage will never be an issue in the future. In short. For 379 gbp it’s incredible value for money and well worth the purchase. It’s a shame that on release date there are no cases available on Samsung’s website as the tablet should definitely be protected against bumps and scratches.I’m using the tablet for my daily commute and won’t be travelling with it until I do have a case

Samsung delivered something remarkable for this money. It's slimmer than my iPhone, the sound from the tiny speakers is unbelievably loud and even has depth to it! It's very light weight too, which makes it easy to hold even for hours. Pretty fast charging (approx 1,5h) compared to my old iPad. The screen DPI is not the best in class, but more than enough for rendering small detail. Some mentioned a bit of afterglare when scrolling the text, it exists but nowhere near as bad as some complain. As far as I know every OLED display will have this tiny drawback. For me WiFi issue did not exist, on 5GHz network I was trying very hard to hold the corners in every way possible, while measuring the speed - no change whatsoever. Could be some wifi routers to blame?

Had my tab5 a few days now and overall very pleased with it. The screen is excellent. Quad speakers very nice of course the output quality is dependent upon the input broadcast quality so I haven't experienced it at it's best yet. Nice light table very quick from startup and opening and closing applications. Lots of features yet to explore. I haven't found much to criticise, two small issues are, no covers available yet to protect my valuable piece of equipment and the overall finish is very smooth so you are in danger of inadvertently dropping it. Also using the tab without a cover is awkward because the screen comes so close to the edge it's difficult to keep your fingers clear of the screen. However very pleased with my purchase.

Got the 128 GB Model , and impressed up to now , quick , smooth, good sound , lots of my apps downloaded onto it show "not optimised for this device" but I guess that's what happens when the device is new to the market.Tried with the 256gb card as I have many pictures ( will be using this tablet mostly for editing when away from home) and transfer rates are good. The only thing that I have noticed is the thinner bezel around the screen means my pudgy fingers often activate the screen touch sensors unintentionally, but I'll adapt.Charge time quick , and initial usage appears to show this unit is going to have a long battery lifeAlso with this being brand new there is a lack of accessories casesect.

Bought from a local retailer before Amazon stock.Very smooth and responsive. Battery lasts forever, I've been using it for more than a month, everyday for an hour or so. Mixed usage of videos and web surfing. And I charge it once every 6 days or so.No lag, very fluid. I've had no issues with wifi or screen like others. Finger print works a charm. Lightweight and thinner then a pen. Ridiculous.Pairs well with bluetooth headphones. No lag between each other. WiFi speed and consistency is great. It's obviously not intended for power hungry apps like latest games or 3D graphic rendering etc etc. Its merely for casual usage.I've replaced my notebook for the 5e, and bought another.I would highly recommend.
