The K400 looks quite sleek and comes in black, weighing in just shy of 600g. It's lightweight and portable, small enough not to be any hassle to put on your lap and move about with. It's a little smaller in length than your average keyboard but it's also slimmer, narrower and is streamlined by low-profile keys. The first thing I wanted to check for was the keypad, thinking that a touch pad (rather than a tracker ball) would be easier to use. This has a large enough pad to the right hand side that's approx 9cm, and it has a minimalist white line pattern across it to make it look pretty and stand out a little. This offers 'multi-touch navigation' so that you can point / scroll easily, along with left and right click buttons just underneath it.The wireless range on this is up to 10M (33 feet), so it does depend on how you intend to use it but I've found this to be more than adequate for use in a bedroom / living room, allowing you to sit a reasonable distance away from the screen of your laptop/tv and have it still work very well.Setting up this is very straightforward, which is a huge bonus because it worked perfectly first time. In the box you get the keyboard itself, a manual, the USB dongle and batteries. Pop the batteries in (2 x AA) and plus the 'Unifying receiver' (the USB dongle) in to your computer/laptop USB port. It's a teeny tiny dongle, so small that when it's in the USB slot you can just about see it. I think this is a good thing, just be careful not to lose it. This is pretty much then just a plug and play piece of tech; turn the keyboard on towards the top and you're set to go! I loved the easy set up because there weren't any 'technical hitches', it was self-explanatory and best of all no extra software was needed. This keyboard really does look the part, with a classic black finish that gives it a feel of being good quality and not too tacky, despite being plastic and light weight. The keys are low-profile but soft and easy to use, both for faster and slower typers. The markings on them are also clear to see with bright white UV lettering and numbering, and I liked their overall size. Some wireless keyboards seem to be very small, making even the easiest of tasks probably quite tricky. This keyboard seems to be just the right size; compact and sleek for portability, but perfect for typing, searching, clicking, scrolling etc. This to me also means better value for money because you can use it for longer and for more tasks, rather than feeling limited by a keyboard you can't type on very well and a mousepad that's tricky. The responsiveness seems to be very good and so far so good, no problems to report. Everything about the keyboard seems to have been design with not just looks but also practicality and ease of use in mind. Considering what it is, it won't be the same as a regular keyboard with lots of function keys all over the place etc, but it definitely enables a lot to be done with it and easily. The pad, for instance, works well to the touch and allows multi-touch actions (such as two fingers to scroll), as well as the buttons that are ergonomically placed underneath and are of a decent size and not fiddly to click.Overall, this is definitely one I'd recommend if you're considering a wireless keyboard. At around the £40, it's not the most expensive out there but it still took me some deliberating before forking out for it. I'm glad I did, rather than go for a cheaper alternative. It looks good, works effectively and is easy peasy to use.

This bluetooth keyboard ideal for anyone wishing to change their existing keyboard, or to just use as a spare or portable keyboard. It is very easy to set up, but you must use the provided bluetooth dongle. I would of preferred that it could be set up with the bluetooth transmitter/receiver on my computer, but after many attempts to do this, all has failed! By using the dongle to create the connection means that you must take the dongle with you to use the keyboard with other computers. The problem with these dongles is that they are so small and can be lost easily! If you buy this keyboard please read the topics on the key functions to change the settings of both the keyboard and touchpad. What is really annoying about most touchpads is that it has a function that uses tap or double tap to select an item, this function is usually set to on when the keyboard is set up for the first time. The problem with the tap function is that is keeps selecting things that you do not want to select by over sensitivity of the pad itself which is another problem with most touchpads. I would like to see a function that enables you to adjust the sensitivity to the level that the person is happy with, this function could should be available in the advanced in properties or a dedicated tab for this. When I use a touchpad I always deselect the tick in the (tap to click) function in the system tray icon to stop this awful function. Using the buttons close to the touchpad e.g the left and right buttons seems to be the best way to select exactly what you want on your computer. Tap to click is a good idea for people who have problems with their hands or no hands to make it easier to select things for them. Like I said, if the sensitivity was adjustable then the tap to click function may work better. The keyboard is just the right size for me and all of the keys work great. One other thing that I would like to have on this keyboard is a light that shows when you have the caps lock on. All in all, a very good Touch Keyboard indeed. You sometimes get what you pay for and this is an example of a good touch keyboard that is well worth the extra money compared to other cheaper ones. Buy it!

I just grabbed one of these on a daily discount to use with our new Panasonic TX50CX680B TV. The TV itself recognised the keyboard and I was able to use the keyboard and touchpad to navigate around the TV apps menus etc. with no problem at all. Soon as you touch the touchpad, a cursor appears on screen. So the TV has no problem providing keyboard and mouse support. But apps are another matter. The built in browser worked just fine, and so for the first time was actually usable (try typing URLs or searches using the remote control to navigate around an onscreen keyboard and you will lose the will to live after about 15 seconds). But other apps are just totally brain dead in this area.Things like Youtube or iplayer can "see" the keyboard, because you can use the cursor keys to move the highlighted selection around the screen, and press enter to select them, BUT YOU CANNOT TYPE IN THE SEARCH BOX. This is just ludicrous, and a quick search on the net shows this is a known flaw that has been around for years. You can even use the on-screen keyboard by using the cursor keys and pressing enter on this keyboard - BUT YOU CANNOT TYPE directly. This is just mindboggling stupidity on the part of whoever develops these apps. So, even though the keyboard is fine in itself, and its support within the hardware of the TV is fine too, I still think I'll be returning it. Being able to surf on the TV is great, but I don't think I'll do that enough to justify having this lying around all the time, and not being able to use it for searches in other apps on the TV is ridiculous. But I must stress that is not the fault of this keyboard, or Panasonic.UPDATE: as another reviewer mentioned, the keyboard (black one) I received is subtly different from the black one pictured. It is the newer K400r model, which has different F1-F12 keys, you have to press the Fn key together with the desired F1-F12 key, rather than just pressing the key on its own. The white keyboard pictured on this listing is like that, compare the two and you'll see the difference.

I bought this keyboard to use with my Raspberry Pi. My keyboard came in a box with a sticker saying, "UK version - UK English 105-key keyboard".I plugged the receiver into one of the Raspberry Pi's two USB ports, powered up the computer and the keyboard worked immediately - it's has been trouble-free ever since. The built-in touchpad means that I don't need a mouse hence the other port on the Raspberry Pi is left free for other purposes, in my case for use with an Edimax wireless adapter, to enable Internet access. The keys on the keyboard are well spaced and are slightly concave which aids typing. The tactile feedback is good, as the keys move down well and the pressure required to depress them is within my comfort zone. The keyboard has four rubber feet which prevent it from sliding around. The touchpad has a wacky criss-cross pattern which doesn't do a lot for me, though I suppose it enables it to be found quickly. Being left-handed, naturally I wish there was a version available with the touchpad on the left-hand side. It's about time that more companies catered for those of us who comprise at least 10% of the population! Of the two buttons under the touchpad (which by the way can be used both for pointing and scrolling), the right-hand one seems to make the most positive sort of clicking noise when depressed, but the left-hand one works perfectly well, too.In conclusion, the keyboard is almost perfectly ideal for my intended purpose. The only thing it seems to lack is any way of turning the darn thing off. Consequently I shall need to remember keep an eye on the two AA batteries, to ensure that they don't go flat and leak - something that I hate. Now here's something that I hadn't seen before and value having, it's a USB extender that was included with the keyboard - a very handy item to have. Well done and thank you Logitech.

I purchased this keyboard as I find myself regularly using the on screen keyboard on my tablet PC. It arrived promptly and safely. The keyboard was ready to use straight away thanks to Plug & Play. My ablet installed the drivers and was up and running almost immediately. The box includes a USB wireless receiver (plug in to a USB port) and a wireless extender for use with desktop PCs and hard to access USB ports. It can also be used to extend the range from which the keyboard can be used. I was pleased to find 2 batteries had been supplied and pre-installed for convenience.I have a TeckNet USB mouse. I used a USB hub and tried to use both the TeckNet mouse and Logitech keyboard simultaneously (with both wireless USB receivers plugged in),but initially the mouse failed to work. I assume that the USB receivers were causing interference (or fighting for dominance!) and continued to use the Logitech keyboard. The next day I plugged both in again and they worked a treat. No issues since then.I haven't used a wireless keyboard since working as an administrator m,any years ago and have been using a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 with the Type 2 Keyboard for over a year so it took a couple of days of practice to get used to. To be honest, using the Type 2 Keyboard has made all other keyboards difficult for me to use. But I am beginning to like this Logitech keyboard, albeit as a second keyboard. It feels well made. A bit plasticy at times yes, but no complaints given the value of the keyboard. The keys feel well placed out and I love the short/hot keys, giving you access to shortcuts/applications at the touch of a button. It is lighweight and easy to walk around the home to use on multiple devices.I would recommend it to all tablet users. Not so much for people who want portability and fit in the bag, but certainly for home/office use.

I have my PC hooked up to the living room TV and so operate it from a sofa rather than a desk. Prior to buying this I was using a lap desk with a wired mouse and keyboard. Did the job when I was gaming but for chilling out watching things or browsing the web it wasn't ideal (or comfy). That's where this Logitech keyboard comes in.+It's very light, easy to pass between people+Touch pad is responsive and there is a left click button on the far left, so if you don't like tapping the touch pad to left click/hold you can use your left thumb for clicking and right for moving the cursor+Has an FN key allowing access to things like F1-12+Stylish design and the USB dongle is tiny.Comes with an extender too+Apparently very sturdy, has fallen a few times onto our wooden floor and is still in one piece+Media buttons+Touch screen supports multitouch functions e.g. pinch to zoom or two fingers to scroll down a webpage+Keys are a decent size and is easy to type on. Typing feedback is somewhere between a laptop and a normal keyboard.+Easy to set up, works with W8+Long battery life, used the same batteries for months with 1-3 hours use a day. Goes into powersaving mode after a while of inactivity which probably helps (takes half a second or so to wake up when the pad or any button is touched).-Seems to need an almost direct line-of-sight to the USB dongle. Signal can be blocked or slowed by a leg or a cushion. This could be interference from our WiFi or something though. Other than hiccups caused by that, any keyboard-PC lag is un-noticeable.All in all, great piece of kit, recommend it to anyone looking for a wireless mouse/keyboard solution for general PC use.

This review was written using the K400.I had looked at cheaper wireless keyboard/touchpads which had iffy reviews and were made by companies I had not heard of. I decided to purchase the K400 as Logitech are an established company, with a good reputation, and the reviews were positive. The keyboard feels sturdy despite its light weight, the materials used do not feel cheap and there are no rough edges. The keys are well spaced and are positive in action. The trackpad is responsive, adequately sized and is multi-touch capable. Its placement to the right of the keyboard feels natural and eliminates accidental palm touches when typing. The additional mouse button at the top left of the keyboard is really usefull.I have tried the keyboard with an XP desktop, Vista laptop, Linux desktop, Linux notebook, Rasberry Pi and a Galaxy tab2 (with OTG adaptor). It works perfectly, first time with them all. The range of the wireless is 5+ meters without needing the supplied USB extention adaptor. I have no need to try it over greater distances. The tiny USB receiver can be stored securely in the battery compartment for transporting or simply to avoid loosing it when not in use, it really is tiny. The on/off switch, which is missing on other wireless keyboards and mice, saves battery life. I am still using the original supplied batteries despite heavy use.To sum up then, for me it works perfectly. I have already recomended it to friends and family. I would buy it again without hesitation.

For many years I was cynical about wireless keyboards and mice - in my experience they were often unresponsive, prone to cutting out at a moments notice, battery hungry and crap basically. I remember one that I had to have about an inch from the pc for it to work. Now for the past two years I've used one of these Logitech k400s and they are an absolute dream. the batteries last forever and a day - 6 months easily - using everyday. The distance is good enough for a 20 ft living room - but reduces as batteries get low. I use it for a living room pc and its great for this. For intense office work or internet sales work its a bit slow on the mouse side and cant compete with a standard mouse (I do ebay sales twice as fast with a normal mouse). For entertainment and surfing though its fantastic. The position of the mousepad is so much more natural than it is on a laptop where I feel like my hand is contorted to suit the device. this is made to suit your hands. Ive dropped this about a hundred times onto a wood floor at least and the battery compartment usually flies off when I do this, but the thing never brakes! Its even worked with just one battery in instead of two! Its like some battle hardened warrior of keyboards. Have now bought one for parents and one for the caravan. cannot exaggerate how good these are - wish they made all the laptop companies copy this layout years ago - its so weird having the mouse in the middle on laptops after you've used on of these stunners.

I gave this 5 stars because it does what it should very well. I got mine to use with my Media Center PC in my living room. The range is fine, but does not cope well with obstacles - for example, if the receiver is placed in a rear-facing USB socket, the range is severely limited, so it had to be put in the front of the PC - not a big deal but worth keeping in mind if you want a keyboard to use across a room. It would be fine to use in any USB location if you sit within about 2m of the PC.The touchpad is responsive, and the additional left-click button on the top-right of the keyboard makes it very comfortable to use in a sitting position using both hands.A right-click can be actioned by tapping two fingers on the touchpad if you don't want to move off the pad to the actual button - very useful! Not had it long enough to comment on battery life - but in general, Logitech wireless devices are great for this, so I am not expecting to replace them often.Construction is solid enough, and well put together.A nice, compact wireless keyboard, ideal for HTPCs or occasional use with a laptop. I personally wouldn't have it as a main keyboard for my every-day PC though, as it can't have its angle changed when on a desk, and lacks a numberpad. If you want an affordable remote keyboard for light use, this is the one to buy!

While some reviewers mention the lack of shortcut keys, the wording of the blurb or the build quality, I think they have ambitious expectations considering the price.Shortcut keys? There is an image and description on the product page... If shortcut keys were important to you, shouldn't you have checked before you bought it?"Long Range" doesn't mean it's going to work from across town. "Long range for it's class" might be a better wording, but immediately below it actually states a range of 10m. What's the problem?Build quality? I'm 13 stone and have stood on it twice. No broken keys. The battery cover came off once. It's a keyboard, not a shovel.I see no reason to rate this anything other than 5 stars. It's worked with everything I've ever plugged it into (windows, Galaxy Note 2, android TV box, linux pc, Virgin TiVo Box. The touch pad works very well, and the two-finger scrolling is yet to fail me. Occasionally if it has been on for a long time (8+ hour stretch), it stops responding, but turning the thing off and on, or unplugging & replugging the receiver fixes it.The batteries that came with it are still working after 3 months of moderate use. I'm optimistic that it could still last the 12 months claimed on the product page, but I'm doubtful it will since I've left it on after nearly every use.

I recently bought a laptop that can fold back the keyboard so I wanted to get the best wireless keyboard to use so that I could position my laptop wherever I wanted. This keyboard is a beauty to work with, the keys have a nice feedback and the trackpad on the keyboard is also responsive and nicely weighted to the touch for pressure. The keyboard is lovely and light and is a pleasure to type with for hours. There is one small minor flaw and it might have more to do with my typing style or "fat fingers", the trackpad is very close to the keys, too close sometimes so that you can brush the trackpad by accident when hitting the "return" key or others nearby. After a while you kind of train yourself not to do it as you would with any other keyboard, however, the return key is rather small which doesn't help. I only do this once in a while but if you are typing sometimes you will find you may have accidentally brushed the trackpad and your cursor is positioned somewhere else in the document whilst you are writing meaning you are now typing somewhere else other than where you thought.Having said all that, it is an utterly brilliant keybaord and I can't recommend it enough, you just need to train yourself to be careful when mashing the return key.

I don't usually write reviews for Amazon but am so impressed with this product that I'm making an exception!Firstly the device is very light and compact, ideal not only for a home theatre PC but also (in my opinion) for general desktop use. I bought this keyboard/trackpad unit to go with a touchscreen all in one PC, to replace the bulky and old-fashioned keyboard and mouse it came with. As a previous Magic Trackpad user I missed having multitouch on the desktop as well as on the screen. The keyboard is just the right size for me--slightly smaller than average--and the keys have an excellent feel to them, light but with good tactile feedback. The trackpad itself only supports two-finger gestures (scrolling, which although not 'intertial' is almost as good) but for most users this will be more than enough.Installation could not be simpler: just plug in the dongle and carry on.Negative points:Very few really, generally I'm very impressed with the product. The lightweight construction does lead to some slight 'creakiness' which may be a concern to some users, but for desktop use I don't think it's a problem. With better driver support the trackpad could also support three or four finger gestures.

The keyboard is lovely, I use it as my main keyboard on my laptop with Ubuntu. There are only three things that I don't like.1) F1, F2 etc must be accessed with the FN key. I find this annoying, considering that I use these keys a lot.2) If I slide my finger from the outside of the touchpad's right border INTO the touchpad, the letter 'C' is produced. This is incredibly annoying, especially when I am programming or writing a long text. Apparently I do this involuntarily a lot, and it makes things a little bit stressful.3) The right Shift key is too small, and it is placed in a very inconvenient position. I am a touch typist and a very fast one, having the right shift in such a recondite spot does not help. What I am saying with the first and the third point is that I Don't Want To Be Forced To Look At The Keyboard when I use it. I got used to the hidden Shift key, but once in a while I fail to press it, now I unconsciously adapted into using the left Shift more often, and to produce a capital 'T' I normally use just my left hand. But this slows me down, it is faster to alternate right hand left hand. But overall I love it, 4 stars. I hope Logitech will fix these problems with its successor.

This keyboard generally works well, with a decent key travel and a small footprint. It's ideal for controlling a media PC from the comfort of your sofa. I have, however, experienced the following issues:The keyboard and touch pad input occasionally lag quite severely, so actions take a second to be reflected on the screen. This makes simple tasks (like moving the pointer to an icon and clicking) very awkward and error prone. Thankfully it only happens occasionally. The Logitech software settings won't "stick". I generally disable tap to click on touch pads to prevent unwanted clicks. With this keyboard, the software often stops honouring my configuration, seemingly at random. Opening the (running)Logitech software and closing it again by clicking "OK" is enough to temporarily resolve the issue, but it's an annoyance and seems to be a fairly common complaint. Also, having customised my settings, the Lock PC button on the keyboard no longer works even though it works fine when my wife logs in to her account. I can still successfully lock the screen with the Win-L combination, so there's definitely another bug with the keyboard software.

So I have had this keyboard for over a year now and I love it. Cannot live without it. Having Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix, all I do is run a long cable from my PC to my TV and use this keyboard for navigation. I did have some issues with the signal when the PC was situated behind a spare sofa, but all I had to do was plug the dongle into my USB extender and pop that on top of the sofa. The mouse pad is the greatest part of this keyboard and the fact it has a left mouse button in the top left hand corner means it can be used without having to hold in an awkward position. The reason I went for this one is a friend of mine already had one, and I loved it. I also had a voucher to pay for most of it.But in hindsight now I have been using it for a full year, I would happily have paid full price with my own money. It has a very high build quality, stylish look and I can't remember the last time I had to change the batteries in it.Only reason I would want to upgrade is to get the next model up with the light up keys, but I really have no reason to until this one stops working, which hopefully will be never.
