I'm quite pleased with this keyboard. My reason for purchasing had nothing to do with it being white - though I must admit to being please with its appearance. The keyboard is much quieter than most, which is a pleasant change, though it isn't as quiet as I'd like. The layout is better than most. It has a nice wide shift key on the right-hand side, though the one on the left is small. Still, compared to most today, it's a step up.The only function keys (beyond the Esc, F1 - F12, PrtScn, ScrLck, Pause keys) are sound control and the unique calculator keys. For me, this is perfect, as I've never had use for a host of extra keys on the keyboard. I find them extraneous, serving only to get in the way of finding the ones I really want. The key throw (distance a key must move to make contact) is short. I'm a fast typist, so this is excellent for me. The touch is harder than I'd like, and also not as definitive, so there isn't a distinct feedback telling my fingers that a connection has been made. It isn't bad, but a lighter and more distinct touch would be better for high-speed typing. (At least, for me - this could vary for others.)It looks like the symbols and text on the keys is deeply imprinted. Though I haven't had it long enough to be certain, most keyboards' printing starts to fade on the most commonly-hit keys by now. This keyboard has a tail, but it's the longest one I've seen, so has not been inconvenient. Had I known this quality existed in a keyboard with an adequately-long tail, I wouldn't had purchased any of the boards I've had over the last five years - all of which either gradually went bad or didn't function well from the beginning (with one exception that was killed by a spill). Not included in the description - and a reason that almost kept me from buying it - is that the keyboard has legs that flip out so it tilts nicely. It doesn't have to lie flat on the table. For the price, this is an exceptional purchase. The quality is at least as good as most I've dealt with in the last few years - though I don't purchase top-of-the-line boards, that is, ones that cost more than £50. However, this one is much better than any of the £20-30 products I've gotten in several years. I'm quite happy with it - but can't give it a full five stars because it just doesn't have the feel that would make the keyboard an extension of my fingers. (I have, though, tried to describe it in a way that isn't prejudicial, since it might be the cat's meow for someone else.)

Gotta say this is probably my favourite gaming and typing keyboard ever - maybe even more so than mechanical keyboards (and I've tried lots)!First off I just want to say that I've been using mechanical keyboards a couple of years back - I own a Cherry MX Brown switch keyboard and used to have a Cherry MX Red one. I really like my mechanical keyboards, but sometimes I feel like the force you need to press down the keys and the noise made does take away from the experience.I have been trying out rubber dome switches in recent times - I have tried dozens of them. My preference is towards low profile keys that require very little force to press down, making really fast typing and gaming possible, but it also needs to give a satisfying force on each press down and be comfortable to use for extended periods of times.I first encountered this keyboard when I was working full-time as an office assistant, and I had one of these keyboards to use at my desk. I quickly fell in love with this keyboard and how easy it was to type on, as well as the extreme quietness of it.I went and got one for myself for use as a gaming keyboard and I really like almost everything about this keyboard. The keypresses are very quiet if you type with normal force, even if you type furiously it is still much quieter than mechanical keyboards.I can type really quickly on this keyboard, the keys go down very solidly and you know that you won't miss a key because the actuation point is exactly when the key starts to move down.Ergonomically, I really like the slight curve of the keys, it is subtle but you can really notice a difference to how you rest your hand on it. Makes long gaming/working sessions comfortable. My only slight gripe with it is the function keys. The smaller size of the F-keys along the top makes sure you won't press them by accident, and they are pretty satisfying to press, however there are a couple of games that use these keys (namely starcraft 2) and it does make it ever so slightly harder to press them. However it is still manageable as they are positioned well, you just need to get used to them having a different feel.Best thing of all is that this is one of the cheapest keyboards you can get - so even if the buttons wear down slightly after months of use, you can buy 10 or more of these for the price of a mechanical keyboard, so that's almost not an issue.

I got this on Amazon for £9.99. For the money, its an absolute steal. The build quality is significantly better than my old Logitech (MK270 at £24.99) in a few ways: first, everything is built solidly meaning the keys don't rattle at all. On my Logitech if I shook the keyboard, you'd hear the keys jiggle around. This Microsoft 600 Keyboard doesn't do that. Second, the overall design seems to have not much cost cutting, the bottom of the device is solid plastic unlike the Logitech which had flimsy plastic and tons of cutout holes. And finally, the Microsoft keyboard has large rubber feet molded into the bottom of the keyboard (not just glued-on rubber pads that eventually come off). The only flaw in the keyboard so far is the raisers don't have rubber grips,so while the keyboard grips decently to the desk, the raisers are a bit slidey. This is not a mechanical keyboard, it is just a membrane one - so don't expect the best typing experience ever known, but if you are used to membrane keyboards like I am, then this is just more of the same. Function keys are small, so that may take some getting used to. The media controls are a nice addition too. And the keyboard also has SCRL/CAPS/NUM lock LED indicators. The top right of the keyboard has a nice shiny Microsoft logo (I think painted/printed on - maybe it will wear down over time).I got the "White" variant, and while the pictures show a more greyish tone; they are deceiving. The keyboard really is white. While I was hoping for it to be greyish, I'm actually happy with the white. Its really nice and clean looking and blends nicely into my white desk. The wire and USB plug are also white. The keyboard is just plug in and go. Windows instantly recognizes it and it's working within a couple of seconds.Overall, this is a very affordable keyboard and is surprisingly high quality. I imagine this keyboard will be durable and hopefully it will last many many years. [I'll update this review if it breaks.]

Bought as a replacement for the parents 10-year+ old DIN keyboard. (As in, the pre-PS/2 connector!) None of us liked typing on it as kids, it was too easy to hit the Scroll Lock key by mistake, and _someone_ broke one of the flip-down stands.Like the previous keyboard, it is white. Therefore the letters are more visible with lower light or poorer eyesight. I don't think there was a light problem, but Mum did complain when using a black keyboard.Colour alone puts it in a very limited category. It's from Microsoft, who by all accounts make excellent hardware. And it's cheap. The "low profile" keys weren't a problem either. I used to be a massive fan of these. It's not great for hardcore linux users,as the function keys are reduced-size and aren't as nice to press (slightly wobbly?). The same applies to the Escape key, e.g. if you use that for vi. But it keeps the size down, which is the right compromise for the vast majority of uses.Overall size is about the same, as Microsoft took the opportunity to squeeze in a play/pause key and volume + and - on the top. I don't know whether they'll see much use, but _I_ like having volume keys. (Mute is potentially a bit of a risk; perhaps it's a convenience for people who hate Windows sounds and aren't otherwise able to turn them off :-P).As others have mentioned, they dropped the never-used "internet" and "email" buttons in favour of a single "calculator" button. It's just above the number pad. A sensible idea, just the sort you'd hope for from Microsoft. I think Dad would use it if we bothered to set it up on Linux[*] - but he's not really bother, so I've avoided fiddling with it.[*] hell, it probably works already under the default Ubuntu desktop, but we use KDE instead.

UPDATE: a year later and this is still working perfectly. 10/10 would buy 100 more times.I'm an office administrator and at work I need a keyboard so I can comfortably type while still being more than arm's length from my laptop. This was a perfect answer! Long cable, quiet keys that don't click suitable for office work, soft press keys that are very easy on the fingers/wristsand not so small they are difficult to press or so big they are awkwardly spaced etc. It has kept very well over the last five months, being heavily used nine hours a day five days a week, none of the letters have rubbed off and all keys are still accounted for. I bought a previous cheap keyboard from eBay but it had keys in places other than where they were labelled, some just didn't work, they were loose, loud and took several pressed sometimes to make work right from brand new. This is completely the other end of the spectrum, everything works, smartly packaged instead of just tape and bubble wrap, high quality and all keys are properly and accurately mapped out. Very good quality considering it is at the very low end of the budget for keyboards.Postage was very prompt and for the money it was a great price. May not be suitable for gaming if you want programmable keys as there are none, it's very easy to use at work and take wherever you like as it's USB connection. Black and white design makes it look very smart on my desk and it's been so hard wearing that if it broke tomorrow I'd just buy another one. It may not be what you want for a home computer if you're looking for flashing lights, custom keys and clacking mechanical keys but it's been a great addition to my desk.Met every part of my expectations.

This keyboard was a quick purchase, due to the fact that my earlier one started malfunctioning.I have now been using it for a few months. It has a standard UK layout, hotkeys and function keys alongside arrow keys and a numpad (all in standard positions). As it's a USB keyboard, you simply need to plug it in (no batteries, just one wire you plug into the USB port on your computer). It was very fast to get set up. Your computer should quickly recognise that a new device has been plugged in and you should be able to use it right away. This all worked perfectly, and I was able to get going quickly. The keys are not clunky and noisy like some keyboards, but instead feel much more distinguished and soft. There is still some noise though, so if you like a whisper-quiet keyboard, this may not be for you.I have large hands and my partner has small hands; we are both happily able to use this keyboard without any problems. There is ample gap in between each key to avoid hitting multiple keys when typing at speed, and the spacing is very very similar to the Microsoft keyboard this was bought to replace - so re-learning the key positions was not necessary.PRO:The hotkeys work with my Windows 10 machine.Nice, slightly curved, profile allows for a small rake to the keys which helps to pick them out.Seems very sturdy and advertises spill-resistance - which I believe is true.Rear stands to adjust the angle of the keyboard up to around 4.5cm at the back.Soft keys with not too much noise.USB connection - quick to get set up.CON:Could provide more options for keyboard rake on adjustable stands (forward tilt).Quite chunky (not slimline)An exceptionally good keyboard for the price.

The photo of the keyboard show by Amazon is for the American version of the keyboard. I can confirm that the UK version of the keyboard layout is as follows. To the right of the space bar you have the Alt Gr, Fn, Menu and Control keys. The left s*** key is the same size as the key as any other letter key on the keyboardTo the right of the left shift key you have the \, followed by z.The enter key spans two rows, to the left of the enter key on the top row is the ]} key and below the ~# key.Shift + 3 will give the £ symbol and shift + 4 will give you the $ symbol. Alt GR + 4 will give you the € symbol. The FN key can be used for some additional functionality on the F5, F6,F7 and F8 keys when used with Windows 10:FN + F5 = CortanaFN + F6 = ShareFN + F7 = Connect to a wireless display / audio deviceFN + F8 = Opens the settings application (the new control panel)See the photo I have attached to this review to see what the actual keyboard you will receive as of the 07/11/15 looks like. Before this keyboard I had a Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000, they layout on this keyboard is essentially the same and is just missing some of the extra digital media buttons which I never used anyway. This keyboard has a dedicated button for the calculator and volume control, play / pause and a mute button. All the extra keys you will ever need. Certainly a great keyboard for around £10.

I gave 4 stars because:+ It is a perfectly sized keyboard with perfectly sized keys+ UK layout+ Has media Play/Pause, Mute, Vol up/down hotkeys+ Num/Caps/Scroll lock keys are in the normal expected place as are the lights+ USB lead is perfectly long enough- Hotkeys don't include next/previous keys.I like the rounded-ness of the keys and the softness of the key presses. The keyboard is also quiet to operate. The keyboard can be raised by raising the tabs on the bottom, which in my experience do not collapse or cause the keyboard to go wonky during use. This keyboard has easily met my expectations for this essential computer/PC product.I have two in the house and everyone who uses them likes thelook an feel after use.The packaging features the US layout but there's a sticker below the picture on the box saying that there's a UK version inside.Despite the packaging saying it works on Windows 7/8 but not mentioning XP, I can confirm that it works on Windows XP Professional (so it should also work on Home Edition). Also, I see no reason it won't work on any operating system you use, be it Windows, Linux or Mac OS (Macs have a slightly different layout so there will be less compatibility there).I would recommend this keyboard to anyone who's looking for a value for money keyboard that is cheap yet very functional and reliable for home, office or light gaming use.

Having used a Logitech wireless desktop for years (swapping pc but always keeping same keyboard and mouse) eventually it developed a fault and needed replacing.Tried using the spare wireless ASUS keyboard - kept dropping contact which was annoying, and it was too thin akin to a laptop keyboard. Tried another old wireless Microsoft wireless keyboard but is seemed to conflict with the Microsoft wireless mouse we love.So having decided we don't need the wireless aspect as it hardly moves from its location under the monitor...keep wireless mouse and go back to a wired kb.The layout of this kb is spot on, doesn't have an oddly shaped insert / delete buttons area, numerical keypad also us traditional layout and the individual keys spacing feels correct (for us fast fingered users) it's the same as my workplace HP kb.Generally a perfect kb unless you're a gaming teenager, I would like it to be heavier so less prone to sliding around, and I miss the specific 'sleep' button the Logitech kb had (possibly program one of the buttons to do this but I'm lazy)Not used the media buttons much but good to have nonethelessFinally- cheaper than any similar quality wireless kb, does exactly the same job with absolutely no possibility of missing characters or communication fails, oh and no batteries to replace. I needed a quieter keyboard for 2 reasons, my typing would wake my husband and whenever I was chatting through any audio function people complained that my keyboard was loud. Over the past 2 years I have purchased 5 keyboards looking for one that would meet that specific need. My complaint against the silicon keyboards is they required too much pressure per key which might be fine for a person who is not a touch-typist but since I am a touch typist they are entirely unacceptable. I had just about given up when I thought to try this one. After all, I have a microsoft wireless mouse that I just love. This keyboard meets my expectations and demands and even goes beyond that in that it drains any spill out through the channels at the lower edge of the keyboard frame. The only improvement I could request is that the spacebar key be made a little less flush with the frame so that it sets up a little higher. My husband has also used my keyboard and had the same complaint about the spacebar. Although I wasn't searching for any additional benefits I find I really do like the ability to manipulate my media player without opening and closing windows. The calculator button allows me to do the same. These are both handy when I am in a social situation but even more so when I am programming and coding.

I like this keyboard a lot. As a touch typist, I am hitting the right keys again. Too many keyboards are adjusting spacing and I was mishitting. It's a pleasure to type again. Smooth, soft, responsive, cushioned and quiet keys and spacebar. Some spacebars clack. My typing accuracy has dramatically improved! This keyboard is brilliant, the best I've ever used. I've been typing since manual typewriters, and think I must have used over 50 keyboards in my time! And because it's white, I can see it better (eg, for function keys) when the light's falling but I haven't yet got up to switch on the light. Happy person here. The only drawback is the numeric keypad for me; I don't often use it,and it just creates a distance between the keys I use and the mouse. I have to stretch out a little more than I'd like. If only MS did this keyboard in a smaller lengthways size.Don't know whether to say, but in case it helps, I tried an Apple-type keyboard, but hitting edges of keys wasn't comfortable sometimes, not enough softness. I prefer this to the A4Tech Mini X-Slim Keyboard KL-5-1 - Black Keyboard - USB that I recently bought. The key action on that is not as smooth and the spacebar is more clacky.

I ordered this keyboard as my existing one which came with the computer was beginning to play up and was becoming unreliable. This keyboard really looks the business, having something of a quality look about it, and that's not just the colour which is a very pleasant shade, not a startling white but very easy on the eye. The spill-proof quality is an obvious advantage although I have not, as yet, spilt anything on a keyboard but you just never know. The quiet keys have a nice feel about them which I have not experienced on previous keyboards and are very positive. An extra bonus is the calculator key which gives instant access to the virtual calculator.I also find very useful the volume control buttons which I can find immediately if a Youtube video or anything else comes over with a little too much volume. Being plug-and-play with a USB input means it can be used on just about any computer even if there is no round type keyboard socket. Keyboards in anything other than the standard black are difficult to find nowadays, so I am very pleased to have found this one on Amazon at a very reasonable price for what it is. Highly recommended.

I bought this as a replacement for my old and failing Microsoft 'Digital Media Keyboard 1.0A' which was failing to type every so often. I was surprised how cheap the replacement 600 was but my fears about cheap quality were unfounded as it is a first class keyboard and a very tidy and efficient layout. The keys lack the 'feel' or subtle resistance of my older keyboard which is a slight disappointment and made it feel a bit cheap to the touch initially but I quickly got used to it. The keys are reasonably quiet with not clatter. The more efficient layout means the keyboard takes up less space than my old one, having done away with programmable keys and shortcut keys and other odd controls I never used anyway. At least the calculator key is kept, which is the only extra I wanted, and some volume buttons. If I am nit picking the slope of the keyboard is too shallow (with tiny legs up) but that may also be because it was a bit steeper on the old keyboard. In any case, miles better than any laptop keyboard.Overall a good keyboard and exceptional value for money, and apparently spills resistant . . . but I am not checking that out.

I purchased this keyboard in 2014, and 4 years later, it is still working flawlessly.I wasn't looking for anything other than a basic keyboard that would last me a good few years, and thought that a Microsoft product would do just that. I have no need for wireless connectivity or a special gaming keyboard, so this has been absolutely ideal. You basically get what you would expect; a plug and play USB connected keyboard with the very basic of keys that should last you a number of years. There are a few special keys in the form of a play, pause and volume button, which is a bonus, but apart from that, there is no unnecessary bells and whistles. The keys feel responsive, cushioned and comfortable, which creates less noise when typing than keyboards I've used in the past. All in all a great and essential buy.If for what ever reason I did need another new keyboard in the future, I would go for this one again in a heartbeat. Considering the price and durability it has been a great purchase. 5 Stars.*Please let me know if you found this review helpful. Thanks*

Here is my experience and first impression with this keyboard. After unboxing the keyboard look so much nicer than the pictures, and the reason is that the pictures must show the oldest generation.1- The windows logo is the same as windows 10.2- Just above the keypad, there is a new button to launch directly the calculator, this was very welcomed!3- The keyboard keys are soft and MUCH quieter than my previous unbranded keyboard, however it will take some time to get use to this feel tipping on it.4- Just a small detail but the Microsoft logo is actually on the top right corner.5- The blue function keys feel like laptop keys and can be used with the "fn" key similarly to a laptop. This is a very good choice for the money,I won't go anywhere else, I did not want to go for a wireless one as I knew where it would be used and I do not have to worry with the battery going dead!Delivery was unbelievably quick, the keyboard was in its original package with an amazon delivery label on the keyboard box..
