I already have a Razer Wolverine gamepad for PC, which is similarly configured but wired. These are modelled after the configuration popularised by the Xbox One Elite controller, which in turn was made in collaboration with Scuf, who had been making highly customisable controllers for a while previously. The Razer Wolverine has an option which allows for a lot more variation with swappable key tops etc. None of this is available with the Razer Raiju - or maybe I should say YET, as a new model may appear, though there will be no opportunity to upgrade. In practise the Raiju (or RZ06-02800100-R3M1 as it says in the description, which won't do them any favours when people search for Raiju)is as comfortable as any controller I've used. While it takes a bit of getting used to, the extra paddles and face buttons provide some much-need versatility. Why the extra paddles and face buttons? The idea is to be able to lay your hand on the controller and have immediate access to all functions, while minimising the amount you have to move your fingers from stick to button, or vice versa. You can put the functions for A or B on the paddles and X and Y on the face buttons. With the help of the Razer app you can customise this further, MUCH further, making this eg a perfect controller for mobile Fortnite (except for the Switch maybe). There are also two sliding switches underneath which either limit or release the trigger buttons. Why would you do that? Triggers are used either for accelerating a car, say, where analog control is vital, or as an actual weapon trigger, where have a short travel means you can fire more quickly. Whether you use it or not is therefore going to be game dependent.Out of curiosity I hooked this up to my Kindle Fire TV dongle and once I'd figured out how to pair it (hold the Home button on the controller to put it into pairing mode, where it will flash white) I discovered that a Kindle TV actually makes for a decent little gaming box. I spent WAY too long "testing" Asphalt 8. There's some dreck on the Kindle Fire store, designed to be used with just a remote control, but most apps should tell you whether they're controller compatible. I couldn't figure out how to customise the extra buttons on Fire - some were recognised, some ignored by default.I also tested it with my Moto Z, still a reasonable phone after a couple of years, and the cradle is very easy to use provided you follow the instructions (pull it out before you try to angle it) and pretty snug and secure. I wouldn't try to samba with it, but it will be fine for regular use. I couldn't see how to access the Razer app on Fire box so I really welcomed having access to it on my phone. This is pricey, probably unreasonably pricey compared to similar models in the Razer range, but it's new and remains to be seen if it will be adopted or even allowed by the Fortnite and Pubg gestalt. The advantages conferred by the extra buttons and customisation are incremental at best so it really depends how much you value this, whether you're prepared to pay the price. For what it is it's a very good controller with great features.

Being a gamer, I have used a number of controllers in the past, including those made by Razer. At the premium end of the market and designed to cater for mobile gamers, this really stands out among the competition. When holding the Raiju, it feels like an expensive product. Despite the mobile phone holder at the top of the controller, it feels reasonably well balanced and is comfortable to use for extended gaming sessions. The rubberised and textured plastics beneath the controller make it easy to grip and make dropping the controller (possibly with your phone attached) less likely. The analogue shoulder buttons feel proportional in games, and all the buttons provide good, positive feedback.Setting up the controller was easy. The instruction booklet is very basic, but tells you how to enable pairing mode which is very easily done. I plugged it in to my Galaxy S8 using the USB-C to USB-C cable which worked first time, too. There is a switch on the back of the unit which allows two devices to be connected through Bluetooth, or wired connection. Although lag felt minimal in Bluetooth mode, I still have an aversion to using it when a cable is available. I have also tried the Raiju wired and wirelessly connected to my Windows 10 computer and can confirm it is compatible. My mobile phone was held in the cradle without any problems, and the position is very adjustable. Naturally, attaching your phone throws the controller completely off balance, but there is enough to grip to prevent accidental drops. Out of preference I would prefer to play for extended periods with the phone and controller separate. The Razer app works well and allows for a good degree of customisation. The battery built into the controller seems to last well and has not fully discharged over the past few weeks of semi-regular use. I like the added extras provided too, like the USB-C cable (high quality braided), and the USB-C to USB-C cable. Nice touches.Overall I have enjoyed using the Razer Raiju Mobile. It is well made, all the buttons have lovely feedback, and is compatible with Windows too. I just wish the mobile holder was removable!

This controller has been designed very well in ergonomic terms, making use of all buttons (there are six on the rear alone) very easy to use. The comfortable design also aids grip, making it feel sturdy in the hand; the buttons on the front are very well laid out, making it easy to use whatever the size of your hands. The grips are part plastic and part rubber, and should last a long time.Pairing via Bluetooth to a tablet is easy. I haven’t used a USB-C connection yet, but I expect it would work well too, as it’s a physical connection medium wireless. There is no noticeable lag during use, even when the game gets busy – this saves frustration when you’ve missed a button press. The force feedback/vibration is very good all the way from gentle vibrations through to explosions rocking the pad, which immerses you in the game. The spring-loaded mount holds the phone safely and snugly, removing the worry of your phone dropping out during intense gameplay.Battery life is as expected, offering a day’s play before another charge is required. It would be useful to have adjustable feedback on the buttons allowing for hair trigger to firm resistance based on preference, but you can’t have everything. The only real drawback is the weight, and that’s not so much a deficiency of this model, more an inherent problem with this type of controller. Thus, when mounted with a phone, there are two disadvantages: weaker wrists and or hands may become tired from extended play, and the unit won’t balance when placed down.Overall, I was very pleased with it – it does everything claimed, and exceeds competitors’ offerings; if you’re serious about your gaming it’s a good buy at the current price of £150. You just need to check specs to make sure it suits your requirements.

The Razer Raiju Mobile may seem expensive, however it makes sense when you look at all the function it has. For example, the programmable buttons work really well when you customize their functions on their app. The app allows you to assign each individual button to the task you wish and adjust the sensitivity of the analogue sticks. There are also two switches at the back of the controller which control the I2 r2 trigger stops. These cause the triggers to have a very short range of motion before they are activated, which is great for shooters. One great thing about the controller is that the battery lasts around 23 hours from one charge meaning you will rarely need to plug it in and charge it (which only takes 4 hours). One bad thing about the controller is that the cable which goes from the controller to your android phone is a USB type C cable which not all phones have. However, I have never found using the Bluetooth connection to be a problem. Another downside is that quite a few games are not compatible with a controller, but there are still lots of great games you can use the controller with.Overall, the controller is really well made and easy to use, which is what you’d expect from Razer. Very handy if you want the console experience on the move. Perfect for use on the train, car or any journey really. The phone fits well in the slide out holder and acts like a tiny screen version of a full on conole. Very cool.

This is an android game controller that hooks to your android device by Bluetooth and allows games to be played by controller rather than touching the screen. It has a phone grip to hold the phone (this was tested with a Galaxy S9 and the Bixby button was a bit of a pain) and this can then be angled for preference, two joy sticks and directional keys and “A B X Y” buttons, as well as a number of trigger-positioned buttons. There is a large degree of logic with this set up, I’ve never enjoyed the virtual pads that some games give you and to have a physical, visceral controller is positive in that regards. The manufacturer’s web page holds a list (of decent length) of compatible games. However, there is niggle number 1 – I would like the webpage to let us know which keys/joy sticks work with each game. Otherwise there is some trial and erroring and not all controls map across. You can use an app to remap the device but that seems less than useful in game, as it were. The controller feels robust and powers through USB C connection however, my main niggle with this is the price tag. Yes, it feels like quality kit but it is, at the end of the day, only a controller and reliant on third party apps to be of any use. That said, if you have the funds and you’d rather have a physical controller then this is a quality piece of kit.

This is a logical, if pricey, next step for mobile gaming. As processors get more powerful, the limitations of on-screen controls become more and more evident. This controller aims to deal with that limitation by, essentially, giving you console controls on your mobile.Good points:- It is sturdy and well made, and the phone holder feels secure- With appropriate games it radically enhances your controlBad points:- It is heavy when you have a phone in the holder, and you have to keep the controller quite still to make it usable - it isn't quite like using a console controller.- It's not that much cheaper than just buying a console!- I found a limited number of mobile games that really use the controls effectively, and wonder if that might stay the case given that it will remain a niche product

I'm an avid gamer and whilst I usually game on the Xbox on PS4 I occassionally want to game on my mobile phone or my tablet. This item is a great option for those who like to do things in a manner that they are accustomed to. This controller feels familiar in my hands is very responsive and with the options of connecting either via bluetooth or wire. Its easy to connect. Works well with the couple of games I've tried and to be honest is something that i think a lot of people will enjoy especially when they're playing a good few of the more complex mobile games out there. Finally add to this the fact that it feels well made and has the Razer name on it means that I have a quality buildassured.

I thought this Razer controller would be ideal for one of my grandsons to use as they are into Gaming. My older grandson tried it on his Huawei phone but had difficulty using Bluetooth. He used it wired and found that the controller worked well and the phone fitted in its slot perfectly. The unit is well made and very sturdy but is too expensive even for a Razer product. My other Grandson will use it with his Samsung which is more compatible. They will need to purchase games that are phone savvy as free games are limited. It is a great product phone gaming when you can finally figure out the instructions.

My oldest grandson is really pleased with this controller. He is the master gamer of the family and the road-tester of the controller. He really liked how easy it was to programme the way he wanted it and that it works seamlessly with his mobile phone when he is out, and with his laptop when he is at home. He has had no problems with it and finds it very responsive in all the games he plays. His only disappointment was that it does not cover all the Android games he plays. But for those it does (most of them) it is, he says, the best controller he has used.

Not iPhone or Ipads compatible for Android only, PC and Mac. Powered by AA batteries for wireless control or you can use the USB connection which overrides the Bluetooth when connected. Comes with a phone mount for mounting your phone on the top securely. Interface is really fast on my Sony Xperia phone so no sluggish issues here.

I found this to be a very comfortable well made controller. It was easy to setup and use. The holder for the phone is big enough and is sturdy. All the buttons feel good to touch, I found it similar to an XBOX One controller.Overall, I think this is a great product for all mobile gamers.
