The controller is exactly the same as you'll get with the Xbox Slim Console, so it will look the part when used either with a black xbox or PC.Inside the package, you get the controller and a wireless usb receiver that you simply plug into Windows, after installing the software on the disc. Once installed, plug in the receiver, hold the button down until the green led starts flashing then, press and hold the guide button on the controller for 3 seconds, then press the link button on the top left of the controller body and you're done. The controller will "find" the receiver and you're off. What suprised me initially was the sheer number of pc games that support this controller.Games years old like FEAR even support a controller, to modern ones such as Deus Ex and particularly ports of games you can be sure to support the Xbox controller if they were also released on the Xbox 360.In terms of comfort, there is no comparison to the PS3 controller, or any other controller for that matter. No logitech controller has ever felt as comfortable, ergonomic or look as stunning in the hard. You will never get a cramp unlike when playing with a PSP, DS Lite, or PS3 Six-Axis.Connection also is rock solid. When the controller is turned on, it's ready to use in <2 secs. Nor does there appear to be any lag or interference despite all the wireless accessories, keyboard, internet adapter, mouse, phone on my desk. One flaw you might however look for is some controllers have a battery cover that is slightly loose, meaning that occasionally the controller will sometimes lose power due to the batteries not making proper contact. This happened with my Xbox 360 controller and I was sent a replacement from the Czech Republic, which seems to fit better and the problem hasn't occurred since. Beware though, shipping takes close to 9 days if this problem affects your unit from day one, it might be easier to return to Amazon for a replacement. One final thing is the vibration. If you're used the wired white controllers from around 2007, the vibration is terrible. All the buttons and triggers rattle, and the effect feels very discrete and noisy, not representative on what action is occurring on the screen. The vibration in these new black controllers is extremely quiet, and it feels there are more degrees of sensitivity, from light to, heavy. It feels natural and responsive to what's actually occurring on the screen. E.g. If you're falling of a cliff, the vibration will start slow and gradually build up you fall further and faster. In essence this is the cheapest I've ever since this wireless controller, and at only <£10 on top of a wireless xbox controller it's worth it considering that genuine wireless receivers cost >£10 on ebay with plenty of counterfeits posing the real thing.

In my opinion this controller is the best controller for the PC, much better than the more expensive controllers.Firstly I would like to clarify what you receive as well as the controller.1) A black wireless receiver, which plugs into the USB port on the computer- which just looks great, matches the controller nicely2) A CD containing official software drivers for the controller (the bits that make the computer realise that you have pressed a button), and management software, which allows you to manage any extra wireless accessories that you wish to use (eg wireless headset).3) 2x AA batteries- Personally I would rather pay more for a bundle of the controller and the "Quick Charge Kit",but the free batteries are perfectly adequate. The down-low.Ease of setup 5/5.The software from the CD was installed in less than 2 mins (on a laptop running Windows 7)- no hassle at all, and no need to download anything extra from Microsoft at all. From there pairing the wireless controller to the receiver was just as easy.Build Quality and Opinion When Using 5/5The analogue sticks are very responsive, as well as every other button on the controller (special mention does go to the trigger system, which feels as though it has really been perfected over the last 5 years). In fact there is not a single bit on this controller that you could call "cheap". It is very solid, has a nice weight to it, and gives me the impression that this is a quality product. One key point is how well this controller feel in the hand. My hands are a little bigger than the average, but I can easily play for hours without any discomfort using this controller, which sets this one apart from the rest in my opinion. The receiver works excellently. No lag whatsoever, even from 2 metres away.Compatibility 4/5Depends on which game you are playing, however if the game definitely supports this controller, then it works perfectly.Overall 5/5I have no regrets whatsoever buying this product, and I hope that anyone reading this review considers purchasing this product over any other controller, even better than the Logitech F710.

I recently bought Arkham Asylum and Arkham City to Windows as Steam was having a massive sale. I actually have a mid-2010 iMac but I recently installed Windows 8 64-bit Release Preview (as one does get a Windows OS for free) via Boot Camp. Both games work great in Windows 8 RP. Before actually playing these games, I wanted to complete the experience by adding a gamepad to the mix. Based on what I've read, this controller was the best choice. However, I've also read that people have had problems with getting the controller to work in e.g. Windows 7 64-bit. There is a step-by-step guide (1. Go to Device Manager etc.) that might resolve the issue in Windows 7 but obviously things could be different in Windows 8 (especially since I do not have the full version of the OS).I did google what kind of feedback this controller has had amongst Win8-users, but, surprisingly, I could not find any. Luckily the controller worked flawlessly right out of the box. I just connected the wireless receiver to my powered USB-hub, inserted a couple Sanyo Eneloop AA rechargeable batteries in the controller and pushed the controller's X-button down until a green ligt was fully lit. I played Arkham City a little and can confirm that not only does it recognize the controller, all the buttons and triggers work (I've read that some people have had problems with getting e.g. the triggers to work even if all the other buttons work). As for the ergonmics of the controller, I think it's probably the best gamepad I've ever held in my hand (and I hated the feel of the XBOX controllers years ago). Finally, Amazon.co.uk (with SSD) has the cheapest prices of this product and the shipping (to Finland) was blazing fast.I can fully recommend this controller to anyone looking for a gamepad to their PCs and I can confirm that it works right-out-of-the-box in Windows 8 64-bit Release Preview (I did not have to install any drivers, just plug 'n' play). I do use a powered USB-hub and I've updated Win8 RP (there have been some updates recently).

Only buy official microsoft controllers that will simply out live your console usually. Also this version comes with adapter for windows computers! it's a win/winMy partners controller was breaking, rather than letting this mad scientist have a go at repairing it she wanted a new contoller, knowing that the wireless pc controller backed up as a controller for xbox 360 consoles i bought this and gave the wifi reciever to her son which switched to PC gaming which he was most greatful for and still uses, after purchasing my girlfriend let me have a go at fixing her controller which i did without issue and she continues to use her original controller. With some TLC these controllers can pretty much last forever or so it seems.my xbox 360 controller is over 6 years old! i have had gamer rages i've thrown it before i won't lie, most wear you will find is the rubber grips .... now you can take prevention by buying thumb grips which sit on top something i never knew about, however you can get a torx screw driver once the controller is out of warrenty, take it appart and change the actual thumbgrips which i had to do recently as after 6 years the rubber started to come off the sticks. you can change the casing if you wish to another casing mine is still on original and is all worn down to smooth plastic from alot of gaming. My controller has had things spilled on it, i simply took it apart an dried it out and it worked again, i have had problems with charging simply cleaned the circuit board and it fixed it, you can get silicone sleeves to protect it and as so far my controller has survived several xboxs and i now use it for PC gaming, i would also recommend using official plug and play kit as you don't want to feed it an incorrect voltage. This is a 100% unbiased review sellers never provide me with free items to review or try!

After having used the Xbox 360 for gaming for quite a few years, I switched over to PC recently. One of the main reasons I was drawn to console gaming was the fact you could use a controller and relax on the couch while playing games. With this item, you can do exactly that only by using a PC.I already owned multiple controllers but since this product was only a bit more expensive than just the wireless adapter I went for this instead. Controller works great and the adapter works great, it's really responsive and I could play Skyrim for example exactly like I did on xbox 360, only this time on PC.Setup was incredibly easy, you simply plug the adapter and install the drivers from the software CD or from the internet and follow the on-screen instructions. The adapter works for any Xbox 360 Wireless Controller and not just the one this bundle came with. The controller that comes included with this bundle is the Xbox 360 Slim controller, which is newer than the original 360 controller though I don't believe there is a lot of difference between the two (aside from the colours)Please note that not all PC games have controller support, or at least not native. You can find more information about this for specific games by looking it up on the internet. From what I've read I gathered that Microsoft is working on getting the Xbox One controller to work with Windows/PC's, which should supposedly be done in 2014. So while I'd easily recommend this item to anyone who wants to occasionally (or always) use a(n Xbox 360 Wireless) controller for PC gaming, you might want to wait and see what will happen with the Xbox One controller. It would probably be more expensive though, it could take quite a while before it actually releases and I'm really used to the 360 controller so for me this was a great purchase.

Looking for a relatively low priced controller to use with your PC? Well there are really only 2 options which seem good enough in my eyes: Microsoft's Wired Xbox 360 Controller for Windows or Microsoft's Wireless Controller for Windows. Which do you choose? Well if you don't like the idea of changing batteries, then you'd pick the wired one. If you don't like the idea of having wires lying around, then you'd pick the wireless one. Seen as I have picked the wireless one, I might as well talk about the Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows.Pros:Plug and Play - As soon as you plug the wireless receiver into your PC, it automatically finds and downloads the necessary drivers.Connection - Controller connected to receiver as soon as I turned it on!:DController - Good size, good weight, very nice thumbsticks and buttons. Very good built quality as well!Compatibility - All the games I've played so far have allowed me to use my Xbox 360 controller!Very fast response - Little to no delay between button press and response on screen.Comes with 2 AA batteries and a drivers disc as well.Cons:Potential compatibility issues with games.Batteries will need changing every once in a while. There isn't much more I can say about this controller. It's a brilliant controller which doesn't really have anything going against it. Okay! There may be compatibility issues with some games that DON'T have controller support, but the controller works flawlessly with games that DO have controller support. If you're thinking of buying a controller which is very decently priced AND intend to use it to play a game that DOES have controller support, then this controller is a must have!Would I recommend this product? Oh hell yes!

I was sick of imitation controllers being made poorly with flimsy triggers that snap and sticks with huge deadzones that are rather stiff and awkward to use - I'm pleased to say that the price tag of the official controller is worth it as the sticks are smooth with little deadzone, they're not stiff or awkward to use as the quality control and assurance processes at MS are fantastic, the triggers are the simple slim nice and easy to use and hard to break ones, the new xbox one style controllers have chunky button like triggers which are terrible, flimsy, and very easy to break, and I dislike them as there is no way to guess what % of travel the trigger is at due to the button like design.I splashed out the £45 which I'm not chuffed about cus it's a bloated price, yet I'm happy I did as I've went through 4 terrible controllers in 1 and a half years which all had their own list of problems and yet I've not been able to find a single flaw in my official wireless 360 controller, well it's battery powered and you're better off getting a third party battery pack and charging system as it comes with two AA Duracell batteries but who knows how long they'd last or if they have much charge left in them at all, a pack of AA batterys is easily £4 to £10 for a multipack of 4-8, the venom twin pack rechargables I purchased in combo with this controller cost £10, so that's money saved long term indefinately.Overall flawless controller which i'm happy I splashed out for as gaming is my way to relax and I was getting pretty damn annoyed with terrible quality controllers i had wasted money on in the past.Worth every penny!

Bought Lego Lord of the Rings as a Christmas present. Loaded easily on Windows 7 Laptop, played but kept crashing. We bought the MS/XBox 360 wireless controller after reading on here that it worked well with Lord of the Rings. Unfortunately I was ill and could not take the controller till last weekend. Once connected very easily we found the controller worked but the game kept crashing.Another Laptop was bought - with Windows 8.Game loaded and controller too.YES. Game and this controller are working wonderfully on WINDOWS 8.As the controller keeps searching for Wireless connection when lap top is switched off,we decided to remove the little box with the batteries in it when play is over for the day.If the controller has an off switch we would like to hear about it.The controller was bought to work on a Windows laptop/PC - we don't have an XBox 360 to try it out on.I understand a charger can be bought and the controller used while wired to it but we have not researched into this yet.Shame about Christmas and New Year with no game but 2013 will make up for it.Edit March 2013. I bought one of these controllers for myself for my Windows 7 computer and it works perfectly. Also bought a charger. The charger has a wire which plugs into a computer's USB Socket the other end plus into your controller where the battery box usually is. Keep the battery box (in case you ever need it again).

As other reviews say, great controller. My main reason was to eliminate the wires dangling from me when I play games on the PC, which it does. I thought that the wireless receiver (which connects to the PC) would be of a flash drive shape. Instead, it is a long USB wire connected to a 'tablet' shaped receiver which is meant to sit on your desk. I would have preferred it out of sight, but I suppose this is acceptable. There is one problem with it - when you turn the computer off, the XBox controller stays on. It realizes that it has lost its connection to the wireless receiver and starts searching for it. It continues searching for it for a long time, perhaps indefinitely, and can drain your batteries.Holding down the guide button doesn't turn the controller off. Many searches reveal that users are pulling the battery pack out from the back and reattaching it. I feel this was a major oversight on the manufacturer's part.To work around this problem, I went to GitHub and searched for 'xbox controller off', where I found a project. The project has an exe/script which you need to add to your shutdown scripts (instructions are provided) so that when the computer turns off, it calls this script and this script in turn tells your XBox Wireless Controller to turn itself off.---Update April 2017 - Moved to the Steam Controller, more versatility and configuration options. Also turns off.

First of all, sorry for my bad english, it's not my native.I don't really have much to say about it because there's a lot of a good reviews already.I'll just give you some facts.Pros:1. It is compatible with a Duracell rechargeable batteries which makes buying Play&Charge pointless. (very huge pro of this pad)2. It's very comfortable to hold it.3. Analog sticks are awesome (but has a deadzones close to 20% actually, not a big deal to be honest)4. Analog triggers are awesome too, not too tought, not too soft.5. Nice force feedback.6. NEVER (and i mean ABSOLUTELY NEVER) loses a connection to a Wireless Receiver.Cons:1. D-Pad is very... "sensitive". You can accidentaly press "Down-Right" instead of just Down or just Right for example.2.You can't turn it off without using a special software (there's a bunch on the web, XBoxExt is best of them in my opinion)3. "Battery pack" dangles a bit (not really a con but when you'll see it for the first time - you'll keep paying attention to it even though it doesn't affect anything at all)Total:It's a best gamepad (used Dualshock 3 and Logitech F710 before) for your Windows PC. If you do like PC gaming - go and get THIS and ONLY this. Highly recommend it to anyone who're looking for gamepad. And even if price is "too high" to you - better save up some money to get THIS instead of getting cheap gamepad and being disappointed.

As in the install for the controller went perfect. Almost too easy following the very simple instructions. First you Install the software driver from the included disc, put the batteries in the controller, plug the transceiver into a usb port and press the guide button on the controller. One of the best controllers out there for PC but you would know that if you have ever played on an Xbox 360.I've been playing many different games with no connection or problems at all, it's just like playing on an Xbox 360 but obviously with better graphics (joke) or is it. So to sum up:*Works with Windows 8.1*Nice long wire on the transceiver (overall I would say end to end it's about 6 foot)*2x AA batteriesincluded*It's NOT the latest controller with the twist D pad*Transceiver can have 4 controllers connected to it*No way of switching the controller off by yourself, although after about 10 or 15 minutes leaving it idle it will turn off by itself, this includes if you turn the PC off while the controller is on (the guide button will keep flashing trying to connect but will turn off after 10 minutes or so)The reason for not giving this 5 stars is simply the not being able to turn it off myself and I would have liked the transceiver to have had a magnetic bottom so you could attach it on the side of your metal case. So far though it's an awesome product.

First of all this comes with the Official Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver that costs £17 on Amazon, so it's a really good deal. I also bought a charging kit for it, but the controller came with 2 Duracell batteries. The packaging was damaged, as noted by the non-Amazon seller, but it was clearly unopened, so, cosnidering the price, I didn't care. There was a CD with some Windows Cntroller software, which I isntalled, although I think the controller would've worked without it.I bought this, because I recently got a PC for the living room and hooked it up to the TV. I have bought tons of games from Steam sales, so it seemed like a better idea than buying a console (cheaper and more upgradeable too).I made the PC launch in Steam Game mode and now I basically have a Steam Machine, with the added benefits of being able to use Windows if needed.I don't need a mouse or keyboard, as Steam Game Mode can navigate through and isntall (even purchase) games using the controller. It works perfectly with Steam and every single controller-supported game recognizes it. It is very reliable and comfortable too, much better than my other £12 Acme controller.I will probably buy a second one and start buying local-coop games on Steam as it is much more comfortable than gaming sitting by the desk.

My main reason for buying this controller was the wireless functionality. Before I was using a PS3 controller to play in the PC but it needed to be connected by USB cable.I read some reviews indicating that the xbox controller was more resonsive, comfortable and that the analog sticks were more precise than the PS3. I personally do not agree with this and I do not like the fact that it uses standard batteries which in this case means I'll need a spare set to continue playing while I recharge the others. However, it is a good controller. If you have a xbox you know what you will get.I had some problems getting it to work on my Windows 7 laptop but eventually found out that the problem was not related with the controller or Windows.Previously I was using MotionInJoy software to use my PS3 controller in the PC when connecting the Xbox reciever for some reason Windows kept assigning a MotionInJoy driver to the unit and the reciever could not detect the controller at all. I had to uninstall MotionInJoy go to the Device Manager and uninstall the Xbox reciever selecting the option remove drivers from PC and then unplug the reciever and plug it again so that Windows reinstalls the drivers (in this case the proper ones), after that it all worked fine.

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows is a nearly flawless product. It avoids all the weaknesses of wireless gadgets, and the sepoerate quick charger and batteyr pack is a must in my opinion. Almost only way to improve this controller would be to include the charger in the kit. Vibration feedback isn't too common in pc games but I didn't miss it too much. This is the best controller around in my humble opinion for Windows. And I think the overall performance and mechanical quality justifies the price and is reflected in the controller. This isn't really Microsoft's fault, but the Game For Windows LIVE brand is starting to let PC gamers down. Most recently, Bioshock 2 on PC had no controller support at all. However using software like 'xpadder' or similar you can asign keys to the controller for games. In fact theres a solid little community out there building software and profiles for this.If you need/want a controlelr to play games on your pc this is it! Installed in seconds on Windows 7. If you alreday ahve an xbox 360 with wireless controllers you need only buy the receiver as the controllers are one in the same!It dropped a star as it was entombed in blisterpackaging that you need inductrial grade scissors to get through!

I finally got around to purchasing this controller for use with my PC following a few years of putting up with a wired DualShock 3 - it has been a welcome change to having to use third party software just get my PS3 controller to work with my PC.Xbox controllers have been my preferred design for many years now and I'm glad I get to use one with my PC. The thumbstick and face button layout is optimal and responsive. Setup was extremely straightforward; install drivers, plug in adapter and go. I believe you can also use this with an Xbox 360 however I have not tried that out yet. When it arrived the thumbsticks were squeaky, something that has quietened with use but is not yet fully gone.I presume this is simply an issue of it being a new, unused device however as both thumbsticks are squeaking. If it was just one I would be more inclined to believe it was a legitimate problem. Finally, unfortunately this doesn't have a rechargeable battery pack: you'll be using disposable double As. To remedy this, I have found that you can order third party rechargeable battery packs from other sellers, however, in 2016 you would expect to receive a rechargeable battery with any device.Overall a great controller for both PC and Xbox 360.
